hide contacs from contact list - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys,
I travel around a lot and want to hide contacts from my contactlist (if possible hide complete groups there)
It's 103 contacts I don't want to see, when I'm at home, cause many names are the same and i don't want to accidently make a call to friends overseas (just wanna whatsapp with them, therefore I need the numbers)
is that possible?
thanks in advance

OK figured it out! It's quite useful. For all the others with the same problem here the solution:
Go to your contacts -> menu -> display options -> costumized list. and deselect the groups you want to hide from ALL synced profiles (if you have e.g. facebook or friendcaster still ticked as OK, contacts will still show up)
however if u go to the group manually they will all show up, just not in the regular contacts. Very nice!

[Q] Email Shortcut on Home Screen

Guys,
I have my rooted Atrix running Launcher Pro - working just great. However, I'm trying to add a Shortcut to one of my Email accounts to the Home Screen - which I have done 100 times before with other Android devices....you click on Add Shortcut, select Email - and then it asks you which account you want the shortcut to go to - and you select it. Easy - BUT - it isn't working form me on the Atrix....even after a reboot post-adding the new email accounts. For the life of me - I can't seem to get this to work. When I go to Add Shortcut and select Applications, and then select "Email" - it goes to my Default account - and won't let me change it.
WTF? It's earliy on a Sunday morning and maybe my coffee hasn't kicked-in yet...granted...but what am I missing here? This is driving me batty!
Please help - thanks!
As far as i know this is how it works on all moto phones. There are 3 email shortcuts:
1. Default account
2. Messaging -> folder with all accounts
3. Gmail - Gmail push app
Maybe there is a 3rd party app, but I have not heard of one.

[Q] Missing menu option???: Can't change E-mail notification ringtone

Hi,
I'm on ROM Batista 3.5 with a very strange and annoying problem: the menu option to change the ringtone for my Gmail accounts is missing. On my HTC Desire I simply go to Gmail-Menu-More-Settings-Notification settings- Select ringtone.
On my Galaxy S2 this menu option is completely missing. I can go to Gmail-Menu-More-Settings-(pick an account)-Notification settings, but the select ringtone and all the other E-mail notification options are just not there. I'm pretty sure I had the exact same problem on ROM Litening v5.0. Google/XDA search seems to suggest I'm the only one so far facing this problem.
The E-mail notification is now set as the sms ringtone and its' driving me nuts. Does anyone know how I can change or at least kill the E-mail ringtone (and reactivate the relevant menu options in the settings menu)? Am I totally daft and missing the menu option or is something more serious going on in my ROM?
Solved!
Apparently you have to click through to "labels to notify" to get to the settings. No idea which Korean engineer came up with that one, but at least it's solved...
I don't have that ROM or that problem, but thanks for posting the solution. No doubt someone else will have the same problem.
This problem only occurs from Gmail 2.3.5 onwards, because they changed the location of the settings.
I can not find this setting anywhere either. Been hunting for 30 minutes now.
I went to labels but I don't see anything there either. Where the heck did they hide these settings?
EDIT:
Menu -> More -> Settings
Under the account settings heading, tap your email account name.
Scroll to the bottom.
Tap Labels to notify.

SMS and Email INBOX background colour change?

Hello - I come from a Galaxy Nexus and love the S3, but the black backgrounds for the Exchange Email inbox and SMS inbox are not my favourites and I would prefer dark text on a light background. (I know the email messages themselves are black on white - that is good, but I would prefer the inbox to look this way as well)
I cannot find any way to change this within the standard functionality of the current firmware. Is it possible to do this without flashing a whole new ROM? (I have rooted the device but am on a standard build still)
Many thanks for any pointers.
Regards
Neil Gardner
For SMS inbox: open the messaging app, press menu button, tap "Settings", tap "Background style". Done. This is on stock. Not sure about the Email though.
Thanks for the reply - that does change the SMS history just fine - I hadn't looked at the SMS app too closely as it's mainly the email that's frustrating. Still no progress there unfortunately.
Cheers - N

Top Contacts Widget

Hello guys, is it possible to make Sony top contacts widget show only the people in my favorite group. The description of the program say its possible but i can't find such option anywhere . I don't want it to show my recent + my favorites .
you should log in online example using your facebook account to log in, once log in it will take a minute or two to load your recent contacts, then you can manage it, just uncheck the contacts you dont want to load on widget.
just click the settings button on top contact widget then click the contact, there you can set now which contact you want to reflect on your widget.
