Yay, can you please post incremental value from the file vendor.prop in the vendor folder. So I can find the updates for others and add links to my thread
If you are comfortable with adb you can use: adb pull /vendor/vendor.prop
Then edit with notepad
Thanks

Bugger, lost root!
The update is 300mb, the same as the initial update after buying the device - wonder if anything is included.

I.e. signed-txs03_xxx-ota-120829xxx.zip??
Btw, do you think region changer would be compatible between the two devices? Asking because you have both....
This is actually release 4, not 5.
Release 3 was over 300mb and so is release 4, yet release 4 claims to just fix WIFI.
I don't see why region changer wouldn't work, they are the same device in theory.
The update was only 16meg for me. How do I find this build prop thingy number? Ah just reread post above, ill try and get it later, not used adb before

Vendor.prop lol
You can dload root explorer or file manager from play store. Then navigate to vendor folder, its in there. Then copy to sd. Rename to vendor.txt and upload here. Thanks
Have just re-rooted my Xperia tablet and also installed the bootloop protection myself!
This i'll try that OTA Rootkeeper when the next patch comes out, I'm suprised that Sony hasn't patched the exploit in this update to prevent root.

Same here, nice to see Sony push this out real quick! Once JB lands on this thing and the Tegra 3 delay sometimes when pushing the power button is resolved, this will be an amazing tablet to own.

I do not believe you will find a link for a pre-rooted copy of 4.0.3r5. Even if you did find one, it would not work for you. You must download the 4.0.3r5 file then pre-root and install it yourself by using Condi's ALLinONE tool. There is a lot more going on in the pre-root and install process than just flashing your tablet with a custom_update_signed.zip file.
Your other option is to do a normal update/install of 4.0.3r5 and then root it after it has been installed by using the method originally posted by WonderEkin.

What I mean was that you could ask in another thread.
As already mentioned, the best thing to do is update and then root (you can even change your build.prop and install US update. It's was my case, I'm from Portugal).
The pre-rooted file it's possible, because I've update (from honeycomb) my tablet like that. with condi tool I was not able to create the signed update file.
OP how did you root your UK Sony Tab S? I'm on 1a and have tried everything just no luck. Any ideas?

You have to restore to stock to apply an FOTA. If you unlocked with the app, just restore with the app, and put back any apks you deleted.

I found out how to root the Xperia Tablet S with the newest 4.1.1 Jellybean update! You just need to use the motochopper exploit , which can be downloaded here. Obviously, you need to extract all ZIPs to folders before running them. Be careful with root; the Xperia Tablet S doesn't have a custom recovery image you can install and flash a backup/fresh system from. (Note: I missed the older thread with this same exploit, but I'll keep my thread up since it has more detailed instructions. This exploit also apparently works with earlier updates, but I haven't tested this myself.)
Instructions:
1.) Enable USB Debugging on the tablet (by going to Settings>Developer>USB Debugging; if they're hidden go to Settings>About and tap the build number 7 times to show developer options.)
2.) Install the drivers.
3.) Check if the tablet is seen by your computer by opening command prompt and using the "adb devices" command (Windows users may have to "cd" (change directory) to a folder containing the adb executable).
4.) Run the motochopper script (run.bat in the motochopper folder, or run.sh for your Linux users) and let it do its work! Your Xperia Tablet S with 4.1.1 should be rooted in under 60 seconds!
Message/reply for more help. Press thanks if this worked!
EDIT: A note from dex9mm:
after rooting use the A.I.O tool from condi
And install the recsuce backdoor tweak from sub menu 4
Option 1
And option 3
for the rescue from boot loop

Well I'm an idiot. I didn't check recent posts before reporting my " discovery". Very sorry about that. I'll leave my post up because my instructions seem to be a bit more detailed than the other post's, unless I missed something.
well if your keeping yours due to proper english and cleaner i would at least add that it works for prior releases. I can only confirm r6b but I am sure other users will chime in. I would also suggest adding AIO tweak settings(4) then 1,3,4.

I won this tablet a few weeks ago, just before the JB update. It's a good device, but I was dissapointed for the lack of unlocked bootloader (considering most of Sony's Xperia devices are fully supported by sony to be rooted)
I had given up the root too because I couldn't find any Linux versions of this exploit. Thanks for the guide, at least I can has root now

I'm glad somebody here is willing to help you, but it's important to note that you're posting in the wrong forum. This forum is for the S4 Active available on AT&T and internationally which is a different phone than the regular S4. The forum you are looking for where you will get better help related to your device can be found here.

Yeah I took the plunge less than a week of having it
But I used Sony's website instead of FlashTool.
I had to upgrade to 314 to see if some of the problems I had with the Z2 were addressed. So far so Good, the double-tap to wake feature was spotty at best and now it works like a charm. Now to see if the proximity issue still exists...(The screen would stay off like it should on calls but the digitizer would still function!)
How can I add adb?
I'm guessing you're running the root but it's not finding adb, right?
If you don't have adb I'm sure it's on Google or these forums in hundreds of locations.
After you have it just put the contents of the root in the same directory as adb is.

Who said you had to install recovery?
Recovery was recommended because new firmware had problems with supersu 2.01 and you had to flash binaries from recovery...now that's history so there's no need for recovery...

You can try the root tool and let us know if it works. No harm trying. It'll fail to root at the worst.
ERT v11
I just used ERT v11 & tr.apk v3 to root .314 firmware. Worked on 2nd attempt mind you, basically cause I wasn't watching what I was doing lol. But it worked :victory: This was after using pc companion to update to .314 and it wiping my root on .402. But just to let you all know that ERT also works on .314
