I want the US version of the Xperia Go - apparently to be called the Xperia Advance (in particular the ST27A model).
Supposedly Sony is to release the Advance 3rd quarter. Well that ends in 10 days and I've not heard a thing about the Advance since some early reviews and comments about FCC filings.
Sony sales reps are the typical no-service type call center folks and can't tell me a thing except they don't even know what that phone is much less when it will be released....
There are a couple of net companies that turn up with a simple google search that claim to have the Advance already for sale (not pre-sales either; actual in stock, will ship it today, sales) and that it is truly the US model, not a UK version shipped over here.
Is that even possible if the Sony store doesn't show anything about the phone?
1) Does anyone know anything further about an official Sony release of the Advance?
2) Does anyone have a clue if the Advance will be any different than the GO? If not then it looks like I can pick up an ST27A from several places and I can have the phone I've been jonesing for since I first read about em.
Does anyone have any knowledgeable advice for me?
bump hoping someone has a knowledgeable reply???

Can anyone help? I just want to unlock my at&t gnote , without paying for software, and yes I Have No Problem in Rooting it.
My Galaxy S Vibrant had an app available on the app store that you downloaded (for free) and ran it to unlock your handset, I wonder if something like this would work.

there's no unlocking software for i717
you need to buy the unlocking code from any of those online unlock sites
make sure you find a well reputed one
If I unlock it will it work in India on 2g and 3g network??
Big Than To Codeworkx and the Cyanogenmod Team
It'll work on 2G for sure. What 3G bands does your network use? Hard to answer the 3G part without that information

Appears to be Bharti Cellular which I believe uses 1900 MHz. Could be wrong though.
If your network uses 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz (the 1700/2100 come through a radio flash though) then yes you could use the AT&T/Rogers Galaxy note on 3G/2G in India

Anyone knows about Unlockclient.com?
Hello everyone!!!
I just got my at&t gnote from bestbuy, and doing some research for the unlock, I found a site called unlockclient (dot) com
The process in this case doesn't include a code to do the unlock like other sites. They let you download some software first and after you make the paypal payment, they give you a "pin" that with this program, it resets all the phone codes to zero....
So, it'll be much appreciated if someone knows about them, to post here the opinions that might consider...

I don't understand why you wrote that, unless you know about them... But I'll be so grateful if you could advise me about this process...
I emailed the developer about his unlock software, he has not had a chance to test anything other than the stock GB rom that ships with our phone. He asked if I would be willing to beta test ICS unlock and I took the bait. As soon as he gets back with me with a pin # I will let you guys know my results.

Hey jb0nd38372, thank you for your interest in the subject... Hope this ends in a positive way for us as new users of this phone...
And by the way, do you recommend me to unlock the device with cellunlocker service or should I wait to unlockclient answer? (Note that I still haven't rooted the phone)

I have an ATT GS2 running cm9 and I would like to be able to use it for the year I will be in Korea.
Is it possible to simply flash a korean modem and have it work here? (does that question even make sense?) Or am I SOL because I don't have the international version?
All I want is to be able to stick in a korean sim card (from South Korean Telecom) and have it work, if I am misinformed or simply uninformed about the steps needed to make that work please let me know.
I've been a lurker for awhile and this is the first problem I've had where I actually have needed to post. Any replies are sincerely appreciated
PS: I know I am a n00b and n00bs creating threads is like the worst thing ever, but I searched the forums for a good long while before posting. I also posted this question in the i9100 forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28207590#post28207590), but nobody replied.

My phone is unlocked and I put an SKT sim in it today and although it did not come up with a sim rejected message there was no cell service. I have heard about the modem that is flashed on your phone affecting cell service, so do you think I should find a korean modem and flash it on my phone? If not what can I do?

This is not an area that I know very much about, but I can give you some things to look into. First, as far as I know, you can only use an AT&T modem on the I777. There are a few options posted in the development forum, but they all work with the frequencies available on AT&T towers. I know the I777 is used in India, and a few other countries successfully, but I don't know about Korea. You have to look at what frequency your cell service is on, compared to the frequencies availabe on this phone. I'm guessing that you have a mis-match, but you'll have to do the research. So your original statement is probably true, that you would need the international version of the phone.
Edit: Did some looking around. You still need to check the frequency issue, but the main issue is that the SK sim card is locked, and you have to complete the following, which I grabbed from another forum:
For those of you who may not know, the rule currently is that every phone model that is not sold in Korea must be cleared by Korean Communications. They have an updated list of all models that have gone through testing and have been cleared so far (the N900 was already tested by someone else so I did not have to get recertification). The only requirement for me was to have the IMEI number registered with SK (this applies to KTF and LGT as well).
Just to summarize:
1) Make sure your phone is unlocked (not even a step really, common sense).
2) Check to see if your phone model has been tested by the KCC (optional step really as the list is very long and even some very niche phones have been tested already, if your phone is a model people have heard of, like you can just say the model name and 1 out of 10 people have heard of it, it'll have been tested).
3) Take it to your local branch office (SK/Tworld, KT/Qook Show, LG/uPlus) and make sure it is a branch office, not simply a retail outlet. The retail outlets are called "daeri-jeom" and the main offices are called "ji-jeom". You want to go to a "ji-jeom". There is usually 1 main "ji-jeom" per city.
4) Ask them to register your IMEI # and either purchase a SIM card or pop in your existing SIM car if you are a customer.
If you have an obscure phone that happens to have not been tested yet, there is an added step in the process that will take about 10 days and requires some paperwork but I won't comment on it as I don't have any first-hand experience going through that process.

And, in case any of you are wondering why I would take the time to do this. I have a very good firend, actually the daughter of a very good friend, who is from the small town I live in, and who is currently teaching English in Korea. I know she would probably not even know how to search for the correct answer. So... this is for Lily.
Thank you so much! As you may have guessed, I am just starting out as an English teacher here in Korea, and I will be sure to pass on this information to all my other teachers who would like to use phones here.
I've searched for this, but can't find any real answers.
I currently have an Xperia Z2 SIMlocked to EE in the UK. Can anyone recommend a reputable, preferably quick, service for unlocking it?
(I assume that it can't be done for free)
Has anyone used these services? What are they like?
Thanks in advance.

Do you still have EE? Than you can unlock it officialy on the homepage of EE
It will cost £20.42
Yeah, but haven't had the phone for six months. EE have very low data plans, which aren't much use for me. My wife is going to take over my contract and I'm going to go with 3, who give you unlimited data.
This probably gets asked quite often. But I have done some research on the interwebs and can't seem to find any answers on this topic. So I come to you fellow smartphone and wizards for your help.
The question is simple but the answer on the other hand might be hard(?)
Let the question be asked:
How in the hell could one add LTE Bands to the P20 lite?
Bought the phone from Texas, USA. I live in Iceland and was devastated to realize that Iceland only uses 1, 3 and above. The phone does not support 3 which I need. I might be too optimistic about this being possible but I am in hope for a good answer.
Best regards, Hakkarinn.
@hakkarinn, maybe it is possible but never heard nothing about it.
Maybe you can start searching in the different directions. I'll suggest you to convert your device from America to Europe, then all European LTE bands should be available.

I tried checking that out. Didn't really know what I was looking for. Sorry I am totally new to "modding" smartphones (if that's the correct word), I honestly don't know where to look for that or what I should look for. Any help is appreciated.

Second part of this post you can find the site name specialized on that. This is a payed service.
But if you decide do it by your own you need oeminfo partition and full firmware.
oeminfo can be found in this tool

Did you solve the problem? I am in the same situation but with the European version and I need to use it in Latin America
I searched the model and AT&T. I can't seem to find anything relevant. I seriously want to buy this phone. But, I want the international unlocked for the extra ram/rom. Checking the bands. It appears the phone has the right ones for AT&T(well actually a MVNO of them).
I have yet to find any review anywhere with someone saying they are using it on their network. So, I know I will probably get roasted for this. But, I am buying two. If anyone could offer any advice or actual usage. I would sleep better.
Please and thank you.

Thank you for pointing me to that web page. It does help. From what I can tell. It looks like the 1196 is missing band 17. I would be ok at 3G if I am reading this correctly. But, either way. It is a gamble. I am currently using a MVNO called Good2Go. From my current phone. I can see that I am using band 5.
Well, I have a decision to make. I hope my wife does not kill me..lol
I was really hoping someone on AT&t would chime in. Even though it could change depending on the area. I am going to try it..Thank you.
