CWM Touch No Files Found? - HTC Rezound

I'm running nils business sense 3.6 version 6.2. Because of the problem with the ota update and ra recovery I switched to Rom manager and clockworkmod touch recovery. I installed the touch recovery through the patched Rom manager found in the development thread for the Rom, rebooted into recovery and then back into ICS per the instructions in the thread. The clockworkmod folder is on my external "sd card 2" directory. All seems to be functioning fine with the exception of one thing; the recovery is useless. It reads the folder directory of my sd card, but when I try and flash anything including a different Rom it says "no files found". It sees my sd card, but won't actually see any flashable zip files. Can anyone tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong or some way to fix this. I don't have access to a computer and need to have at least a working recovery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1. Don't use CWM. Causes funky things to happen.
Install Amon Ra. I have a PH98IMG.zip version on my goo.im page linked in my signature. Place on root of your SD and flash in boot loader. Then you can flash ROMs.

Amon RA and the Rom I'm using aren't fully compatible because of an ota updater that was added to the Rom in a recent update. Most people from what I can see switched to cwm and have had no issues. So switching back to Amon RA isn't something I really want to do.
Anyway, I had a why not moment and copied all my pictures from my external sd to the internal sd and formatted the external card with the erase option on the phone. For some odd reason that worked. I added the zip files back to the external card and cwm actually read them. So I guess my last ditch effort actually worked. For anyone else who may be having this problem hopefully this can be of some use. Formatting the external sd card seems to fix it.

Nils lists Amon-Ra as supported in the OP

Yeah it's supported, but it doesn't function properly with the auto update app that he has included with the latest release of the Rom.

When you run out of battery on the rezound you'll regret not having Amon Ra

I've got the extended battery and I'm actually getting about an hour more of battery life since upgrading to the latest Rom, installing the cubed kernel, and setting the governor to smartassv2 and installing clockwork. I'm not easy on my phone either. It's my primary device. I rarely use a computer, and use it for my internet too. I use anywhere from 20gb to 100gb in a month. Always have and always will until Verizon finds a way to cut off any way of keeping unlimited.

He meant that if your battery completely dies, then you are stuck with a brick, unless you have another phone to charge that battery battery in.

CWM won't charge the battery with the phone turned off, so if it runs completely dead, you won't be able to get the phone turned on to charge the battery.

Thanks for the heads up. I've got a universal battery charger that I use for that. My incredible charging port died on me so I invested in one to switch between two batteries. Do you know if there is a fix in the works?

And ironically I am using TWRP now but miss ROM Manager a little

Nils, when I installed your patched version of Rom manager I rebooted the phone and the market auto updated Rom manager to the latest version. It seems to function ok from what I can tell, am I ok, or should I go back to the patched version?
Also I noticed that backups freeze often in cwm, but after three attempts it backed everything up. Is that normal?
Thank you for all your work btw. I have always loved all your roms. I either run yours or cm. As soon as I become employed I'll be donating.

Your close.
The ROM Manger in my thread is the last working version. The one in the market has problems just like you described. I would uninstall the one from the market but first mark it to not auto update. Then reinstall the one from my thread and do not update it.
The CWM from my thread is the one you need to install since it has the battery fix. Functions the same as the one RM installs just does not have the dead battery problem.

Actually it doesn't. We kinda have to work around a few of the flaws that our recovery has to get it to work "properly." If we ever got CWR, we'd have a bit easier time flashing ROMs. Plus, it's built a lot better, and is more stable.
I have it. However, If the phone is powered down, when I plug it in it boots into recovery. Turn off the phone while plugged in, and it reboots into recovery. Other than that little irritation, it works great.
"You have it' is that system recovery? On a X2? The std one?
Or do you mean the Bionic version?

Maybe as you are a dev you know things I don't, but to say an official version is more stable when it doesn't exist is a stretch. The only drawback is having to plug it in. I've never had any issues flashing anything so from a USER standpoint it is fine. Your post also fails to address the original post which should probably just be answered with a 'dont use cwm unless it is the one for your phone.'

I said IF we get one. From a dev standpoint, it's a little difficult to work with. We can't use all the update script commands we want, for example. Also, ADB is broke from the recovery side, so if we did want to do something manually before/after flashing, we can't.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
The current recovery for X2 is flawed. If I want to install a new ROM and a wipe is required, once that wipe is complete entering CWM is NOT an option. The recovery apk must be reinstalled to enter CWM. This is a problem if the ROM doesn't properly install, leaving the user high and dry. Only option is to enter stock recovery which is limited.

What is a great rom that doesn't need bootloader to be unlocked?

I ran the root program that roots the phone then rant the market app that puts a recovery but not unlocked bootloader. I just got the phone and did it last night. I read if the bootloader is unlocked then there is no 4g, not that I used 4g. Or is there a program that does it all like they have for the Evo 4g?
Did you check lokfish's compendium? Whole list of roms. Also check the development threads they'll have "locked" in the title.

yeah
Thanks KTT16, I did end up reading about a couple and tried one that one person said worked smooth. I ended up some error message and RSD'd back to stock and then decided to go all out and figured out how to unlock bootloader, load Clockwork, and then put ICS on. Then went to sleep at 5am =/ hehe. Now I need to set it up the way I need and then shut down my evo and activate my photon=)
Nice work! If you get a chance try cm7.2 and lokfish's rom.

Thanks everyone,
I did that so then the camera started working because it was asking for the sd card, but it still doesn't charge when I plug it into the computer and the computer still doesn't recognize anything. I press the button that says if I want to send files yada yada. The lightening bolt comes on the battery symbol, but not charging or anything else. I'll check the fixes section that KTT16 mentioned in case he meant something else beside the box to check.
I also want to use the calendar app in my evo. It's on a kings speed 3d rom, but that's another thing so I'll figure out the sd card first.

CWM Recovery discussion

I saw in NilsP's rom thread that people have been working on clockwork mod recovery to see and get it working. I read that with a file copy and an advanced setting you can get backups to work. The main problem being the infamous charging bug.
Here is what is posted in that thread.

I wasn't aware of this but when you plug the phone in, it boots what looks like a mini-recovery kernel. I suspect something with this isn't supporting the battery charge. I am going to flash back to Amon Ra and see what the differences are.
Just select "backup to external SD card" in ROM Manager Settings. You might have to enable "advanced settings" to get the option.

OK here is where I am as memories come back.
If you select backup to external and set progress off it does not actually turn off progress unless you copy the hideprogress file from internal to external. The bad part is the backup hangs if you don't copy the file.
When you select install ROM from SD Card it shows what is on the internal card to select not the external.
I have not tried a restore yet but I remember if you do it from RM it deletes the boot (kernel) but can't restore it due to s-on. Gonna test that in a minute.
EDIT: Backup and restore worked fine after copying the hideprogress file
EDIT: Just had to select internal from the menu when selecting install ROM from SD Card in RM

Yep. I recovered my original GB after using an early CleanROM ICSE ROM. I think I used Scott's CleanFlash tool to flash back the correct kernel for GB.
All my recoveries have backed up flawlessly since, but I am currently only running stock rooted. Haven't tried recovering any ICS backups.

And since I bought ROM Manager while using my DInc I'd prefer to use CWM. It's a reasonable, personal choice and I've never let my batteries fully discharge, so never had charging issues.
And I don't avoid full discharge because I use CWM, I avoid full discharge because it's actually bad for the batteries.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with the N64. I still love it and play it with my friends almost every weekend. LOL. Some get and some don't. It works the same as cwm just without issues. It's amazing and annoying to see people posting almost daily on charging issues yet they refuse to use amon ra because they are comfortable with cwm. I to was hesitant to use it at first but quickly felt like I was in a familiar place once installed. My Rezound has never seen cwm. I think I mentioned earlier that I had no issues charging. But I am also not saying that Amon Ra is bad. Just that I have a preference and that I know how to handle/avoid the pitfalls.
Interestingly, there were many in the DInc threads who didn't like CWM or ROM Manager, but no one there made snarky comments about personal choice... (not talking about you, snowride)
I think any CWM thread will just devolve like a Sense thread will. At least in the Rezound forums.

HTC Rezound Custom Roms

Moved from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790530
I found a rom on this forum I want to try out, but it does not explicitly say it is for the Rezound.
However according to this site, http://tips4droid.com/top-5-custom-rom-for-htc-rezound/ , the rom is compatibile.
The Rom that was listed can be located here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841
and is about halfway down the page, 7.0.4.
Has anyone tried this Rom on the Rezound with success?
If not this Rom then which did you have success with?
I have already done the following:
Unlock Bootloader
Install Amon Ra -> SuperUser and su
nandroid backup (deleted after reading about a problem with restoring S-ON)
S-OFF (the method is a pain, but it does work)
nandroid backup
tested nandroid backup (worked flawlessly)
So now I am looking to get Android Revolution HD running as it has stock UI and improvements.
I'm fairly certain that this is not a Rezound ROM.

I was reading somewhere that four htc models use the same GB version, and with this being sensation, which I have held in my hand and looked through, case is almost the same and the OS was similar so I am not sure if I should just try it and see or not.
What is the worst that could happen?

The worst that could happen is you brick your phone.
Be warned that GB development for the most part is dead now, CleanRom 1.7.5 and Ineffabilis 1.4 are good GB options though.
Cleanrom looks right and sounds lightweight, but the other has my attention with the extras, have you had experience with both?
Bricking is my first concern, not being able to restore stock Rom my second...
I would go with 4.0 or 4.1, but I like how the lockscreen and phone key UI look on the stock Rom and themes do not look as good...

I've used them both and they are both solid roms, I'd have to go with Ineffabilis as my favorite of the two.
Neither one is really supported any though, Scott who made CleanRom went to another phone, Chingy who made Ineffabilis is now supporting a ICS based version of the rom - Ineffabilis Deus. That's the one I currently use.
How does the UI look, is it the same as the stock as far as lock and home screen phone, button?

Just make sure you have a nandroid back up and you wipe all the internal filesystems before installing. If you don't like it, it's easy to wipe again and just restore your original rom. One of the great things about nandroid, it lets you try out different roms and easily revert back.
That's what I was hoping, all I backed up after I got s-off were the default items, so basically my stock Rom is safely backed up on my pc now?

Otherwise, try installing the rom again.

Stuck in a boot loop using ICS Passion on a rooted Vibrant

So I rooted this phone a few months ago and it originally had Eclair 2.1. I did some research on here and found a guide to root and first installed CM7 and then ICS Passion. Last night I had some issue with my Firefox browser. And I had to reboot it. Then it just shut down down on me and got stuck in a boot loop. I did a quick back up and tried to reboot it from recovery and it's still stuck in the loop. I then did a system restore from that back up, nothing. I did notice that it won't mount the /emmc or /data says it can't mount /emmc. When I try to go to restore anything from the internal SD card it Says there is some kind of error. Now when I try to boot it, it just shows "android" logo and is stuck in a boot loop there. Yeah I'm pretty new at this but I don't know what else I can do. Please help. Thanks in advance
Update: so I was able to revert back to factory settings and still kept ICS on it. The only major thing that I had changed before this incident was I downloaded Beats Audio Driver Root from the Google play store. I should've backed up, I know, bad NooB.
But can anyone tell me about the /emmc and /data folders or whatever not wanting to mount or read? Is that because of the driver?

Well do what do you recommend for an OS. I'm not looking for anything complicated. I dig ICS tho.
I wasn't sure about what I was seeing in recovery mode if any of it was normal or not. This issue just really threw me for a loop.

Well it depends. Jellybean isn't that hard to flash from ICS but if you want to stay on ICS you could try aokp. Unfortunately all ICS and jellybean 4.1.1 has stop being supported only 4.2.1 is still supported

I've got to tell you that you dodged a huge bullet here. What was about to happen to you is the dreaded Encryption Unsuccessful bug that has been plaguing the Vibrant, Captivate and a slew of other devices. It is totally fixable. There is a workaround using your External SD but as for a cure, there is none. Some people have miraculously come out of it, but no one knows why and it is not reproducible.
Here is my guide for installing ICS from Éclair. Read the whole thread from start to finish. It is only 19 pages and there is a crap-ton of information in there. From Bootloaders, to ROMs, to the EU bug.
You can also go into my Repo thread or N00B_IN_N33D's Bible for any files that you may need.
I see you are in Cincinnati. If you ever need some hands on help, shoot me a PM and I might be around to help. When I first got into Android, I had a Motorola and joined XDA. Had a few guys hand-hold me threw some things but there were about 4 guys that were local in the boards. So that was a bit reassuring.
Skinzy98 - I took your advice on upgrading to JellyBean and it's pretty groovey. I appreciate the advice on that. Of course I did some dumb stuff first: I got all the files on my external SD card and forgot to put them on my internal SD card and then proceeded to do my wipe for factory reset, cache, and the delvik cache. Genius I know right?
Luckily I did a backup first but I got stuck in the boot loop. And as luck would have I still had the zip files from I originally rooted this phone from eclair to cm to ICS. So I tried the ICS zip... Boot loop again... Then I tried the cm9 zip and by George I got somewhere with it lol. And am now sending this with jellybean 4.2.1. I believe I am now an expert on how not to do this lol.
I did experience some initial difficulty with installing jellybean tho. The first time there was some error. The second time it got stuck on the a sung Vibrant load screen. And third time's a charm and bit worked out wonderfully.

Woody..
Thanks for letting me know about that. I'm glad I worked my way out of this and got something more current. This is my first smartphone ever and I rooted it within a week of having it just so I could watch Netflix on it lol.. I did some catching up on the last five years or so of smart phone technology in about a week during that time. This forum has been a huge help. And now knowing that I got someone in cinci to walk Me thru a crisis is even better. Thanks!

I got it from remics here on xda. It has the semaphore kernel. All I did was search the android development forum for jellybean and that seemed like a reliable one.

Yes remics is extremely reliable and a great ron

I thought it was pretty sweet when I installed the gapps zip that it started downloading all of my apps that I had on it from the play store. I still need to flash the touchwiz zip but I've been oogling over this thing since like noon lol..

Well that is just an overlay so it looks like stock Samsung firmware. If you use titanium backup or any other backup app you don't have to do it from the Google store. You can set up your phone download whatever backup you choose and restore your backup of the apps and the data you created

Well I didn't have much left after it took a dump on me and was the reason for this thread in this forum to begin with lol. Just out of curiousity. How do I know which version of Clockwork Mod Recovery that I have? Whenever I try to use the recovery section of it just to explore, it's always asking of I have to 2.x or 3.+ and I have no idea and I don't know where to find it. I don't wanna guess cuz I may just figure out another way how not to do some stuff. I have the premium version purchased, installed, and completely up to date.
Now that you're on jellybean it probably 3 but I don't know of a wah to find out

I haven't needed to use the GPS. Come to think of it, it didn't come with the AngryGPS app that I had on ICS Passion. I had no problems with gps with that app. The only time I have used the GPS since upgrading to JB is while I was using the GasBuddy app which uses my GPS location to find nearby gas stations and show me the pricing. What can I say? I'm a penny pincher. It seemed to follow me alright, but I can neither confirm nor deny without using an actual GPS app. Anyone know where I can get and how upload a copy of AngryGPS? I'm all ears.
Update:
Nevermind I found one a really good one. It's dead on where I'm at. Only took a couple of seconds to locate me. I am currently having no issues. I can test it out tomorrow on my way to work and so forth.
The GPS worked great the whole time. The only issue j experienced was trying to wake it up. It just wouldn't pull up my lock screen when it the power button. Not sure if that's an issue j can fix or not.
