So this is the second lcd screen that has broken on my dell streaks. I didnt drop my phone both times, I just took it out of my pocket and when I turned on the screen the lcd screen was shattered. The first time I called dell and they were able to replace my phone for free but not this time. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I could do?
-Thanks
I have the same problem. a friend of mine owns a cell phone repair shop in Oklahoma City and he told me that the screen costs around $150.
I don't know how much he charges to fix them but here is his website.
I think he does mail in orders too.
The website is CPR-OKC.com
I had to replace my screen and this is who i got it from.

I am interested in purchasing a bricked Streak and Streak with a broken LCD.
My Streak case has some scratches and there is a small hairline crack in my buttons (home/menu/back), so I would like to sub the parts out. I cannot find replacement parts on the internet other than the battery cover.
It would be awesome if it were white are red. I would like the case to be in near perfect condition.
Thanks

I can sell mine but not sure if I can. I am hoping to get my replacement Streak in next week, but I am not sure if it is required to return the old streak to dell at all, do they charge if I won't. Mine only screen is broken everything else is working fine.
Update :
Received my replacement Streak today, no return label. Guess I will have to test out new Streak for some days, then will decide on what to do about the old one.
At this point my cousin (it's his streak) isn't sure if the part he got comes with Gorilla glass or if its just the LCD, D-Day is this Saturday, So I will come back with results. In the meantime any tips or links are greatly appreciated.
please let me know bc i need to replace a LCD screen on my streak
It might help you.

Hey all, the LCD on my Dell Streak broke and I am looking for a replacement. If you have the LCD either loose or on a scrap Streak, please let me know if you would be willing to sell. I am planning to repair it myself. Just a note, this is NOT the gorilla glass, it is the LCD beneath it.
Thanks
Your best bet would be ebay, i bought a whole replacement unit ( lcd and glass) for 25 pounds and it comes as a sealed unit

Its the second time my 2 year old son fell my streak to the solid floor and damaging its lcd (altough the corning glass survive). I kinda disapoint to this dell product, while my wife sammy gal ace gets thrown of, fell of, and suffer much more abuse its only get minimal damage... as far as i know my wife phone also use gorilla glass just like streak does... but i dont know anything about streak inside lcd spect or construction that might be causing this flaw...
It will costing me another lcd replace and if i accumulate with the last time its almost as much as a new streak it self...
For the record my son only 85 cm height so it wasn't fell from heigher than 40-50 cm, and it wast thrown it was delicately fell from my son hand. (And my streak was using a leather case)... the ugliest fact are it fell face down...
So the question is what is the different ours dell streak 5 to other that make it (especially lcd part) amazingly fragile...

i am pretty sure it would be something like galaxy note too... unless it is constructed differently from the streak...

My streak broke twice, and both times the upper filter of the LCD detached from the rest. This is due to the way the Streak is constructed: LCD glued to the digitizer glued to the Gorilla glass. The whole thing is held together by glue, and the heavy and large Gorilla glass pulls on the LCD whenever the phone is being bent or dropped, and also probably during normal use if you're squeezing or twisting your phone (as happens while playing some games).
The fact that this seems to be the major reason for the Streak to break according to web searches, and that LCD screen prices have gone through the roof, proves my point.
Well, my streal's screen is broken, i also had 1 replacement on it already, now it's time to get another one and after that will be used as the secondary device ( home/development/testing ), i also had some really nasty damages, first time, it was a suprise, as i fell asleep with the phone in my bed and in the morning the alarm gave me the greatest "good morning", my streak fell off my bed on a metal bar from a chair that happened to be near the bed, it happened while i was asleep, and only the gorilla glass was damaged, nice wallpaper though .. Now, the second time, it fell from my poket when i got off the car, it fell face-down, noe both the gorilla glass and the lcd are damaged, so...
This is a great device, but with some engineering tweaks some Streak 55 (idiot name ) could be better, faster, stronger or whatever, anyways, i post this mainly because i love this device and i really don't know why
