I need some serious (non-trolling) advice.
I'm committed to using a single device as my MP3 (lossless audio really) player and my phone. One of the biggest reasons is that my car will now display the entire phone screen on my NAV screen, which means I can interact with my phone apps and listen to the music at the same time.
I was originally committed to doing this with my Android phone (HTC EVO 3D), but the sound quality is sub-par to my iPod Touch (using lossless audio, the same speakers and/or headphones on both). I tried numerous music players (Poweramp, Doubletwist, Winamp, etc. etc.), numerous ROM's, and I even did a blind soundtest with my family. Everytime my iPod touch beat my HTC EVO 3D.
I'm now (very reluctantly) leaning towards the iPhone 5. It's not something I'm really excited about, but in researching android phones with good audio it doesn't look like I have a lot options.
What would you do?
Also, if I go with the iPhone 5, I might as well switch carriers. I've been a Sprint customer for like 10+ years, but they don't have LTE in my area and all the local staff are telling me 6 months (which probably means 12). Needless to say 3G on Sprint is very subpar in my area. I hate Verizon and their stupid data limits, but the only way I can feasibly think about staying with sprint is if I got a mi-fi device, but it would have to be unlimited, which also doesn't appear to be an option. /sigh.
I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, so I'd appreciate some suggestions.

If you are considering a switch to Verizon, you might want to compare the HTC Rezound to the iPhone 5, preferably hands-on. I've heard the Rezound has better built-in audio that the Evo 3D and some other improvements as well. And I think the insurance/replacement cost is much less than an iPhone 5.
Good luck!

Why don't you just go with an S3 and an external DAC? Then if you switch carriers, you could at least go T-Mobile and keep the unlimited plan

I heard the S3 audio is sub-par without a kernel change. I can't confirm whether or not that is true, but that's what my preliminary research showed. I also don't think I can use an external DAC with my device that integrates my smartphone with my car http://www.vaistech.com/dev/iVIC-droid.php at least that's my perception.
Thanks for the suggestion though. I've definitely considered the S3 phone and T-Mobile before...but I have to admit I'm attached to Sprint (and Google Voice integration). I'm still half tempted to port my number to google voice, but I have a pretty good discount with Sprint right now.

As far as audio quality for phones, there isn't a phone that I know of that can best an Apple product. You're better off with the iPhone 5 if your interest lies in audio.

I can't really comment on the sound quality of the iPhone 5 versus the Evo 4G LTE since I've never used either, but iOS started out on the iPod so it's no surprise that its sound quality is excellent. For overall features, this comparison calls it a tie with three out of five of the iPhone advantages being related to size and weight, and the other two are internal memory (there is no memory card for the iPhone) and screen resolution. Here's a side-by-side comparison (including a video) of the HTC One X versus the iPhone 5.
It wouldn't be hard choice for me if I had to pick between the two, but I'm planning to wait for the next generation of Android phones which will most likely leapfrog both of these options.

Beats and custom kernels, my 3D sounds much better than the 4s. Most of my 4s owning friends agree. Not talking speaker, headphone port wise.

I have a 4s, and my phone sounds nowhere near as good as it with my audio equipment. Be that with IEM's, and headphones with DAC's/Amps/blah blah blah. Beats, and kernels that are suited for it does make a difference, but not to the point that it is better. IMO
The guy wants something for audio, and I recommend the iPhone. When it comes to audio, an iDevice can't be denied of its quality. Particularly when it comes to phones.

If I were you, I would listen to them all and judge for myself.
You might want to put an MP3 that you know pretty well on DropBox or a similar site and download it via the browser on each phone if they will let you do that. I know the Apple products prefer AAC but MP3 is the real standard and the only way to use the same source on all the phones.
BestBuy may be a good place to do a side-by-side comparision, and I'm sure the cellular sales people will have their own opinions as well.
Good luck!

Can you tell me what custom kernel you are talking about? I've tried a few, and tons of music apps...the closest I got was PowerAmp (which sucks from a UI perspective), but for some reason that only seemed to be competitive with the headphone jack (after tons of tweaking); Unfortunately to make matter worse, my Evo 3d wasn't even close after outputting via hdmi and that will be the output with my car.
...and I'm not exaggerating at all when I say I had 6 people listen now and all of them picked the iPod Touch over my HTC Evo 3D (yes it was a blind test, and no I'm not happy about it). If I hadn't been listening to my iPod Touch both through the headphones and in my car (for years), I probably wouldn't even do the comparison.
Thanks again for your comments.
The reason it's better is because of the DAC. That's something you can't change from the EVO 3D. I do not have much more time to elaborate, but please visit this website for your audio needs.

Thanks; I actually found that site via Google, and I have been reading a little. However, some of it is above my head...and there seems to be quite the debate between the manufacturer of the DAC and the difference between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5....not to mention the android products. If you have some threads you would recommend and could throw my way, I'd appreciate it.

So the wife just bought a new Iphone 4s.
I have been an android user for some time now. I must say though. I am EXTREMELY impressed. Honestly the phone IMO seems much superior if you are not running custom ROMs, themes, etc. Hell, MOST roms dont even touch it as pretty much every rom never runs flawless and always crashes or has some sort of bug.
This is one android user who is really debating about getting the Iphone 5 when it is released.
Anyone else have any experience with the iphone VS EVo3D?
I think evo 3d not so good enough compare to 4s, i was seen in YouTube, evo 3d loose in almost test.. But evo 3d got a flawless victory against iphone 4.. Imho I have to say evo 3d is the fit to compete iphone 4 not for 4s..

First of all,iPhone is flawless because it doesn't have any features. It's a shinny brick.Saying that the iPhone is better is like saying that a no-options '93 car is better than a 2012 full-option car.iPhone is flawless because it has too little features to break down. You can't even put a custom ringtone only if you put it through ****ty iTunes. Why do you think Android has taken over?(and now it has about 60% from Worlds phones).People started realising that you buy an iPhone only if you are a douchebag/hipster and want to impress others OR you haven't heard of Android/Windos Phone.

I love both android and iPhone. They both have their pros and cons. The reason I got an evo was because of the screen size. And once the iPhone 5 I will be debating if I should get the evo lte or iPhone.

It's not about hate, but about freedom and features. Iphone got small screen and camera, one or two unique features. Compare almost any Windows Phone or Android phone and you will get lot of features, bigger screen, better camera, lot of free apps. HTC frequently release source code for a kernel or even all base. Android is open source. Apple made MAC OS and parts of iOS from a FreeBSD. Did anyone here got any kernel source from apple?

I must say though. One feature iphone 4s has that is pretty sweet is Siri. Pretty amazing. As far as the screen size. That's one reason I would never get the 4s. However the iphone 5 is supposed to have at least a 4 inch screen.
With all that being said. For the aspect of just a smartphone, the iphone seems far superior in how smooth it is.

Both phones are good. Haters gonna hate, but the iPhone has always been a top-quality product. I'm not saying it's better than the Evo, I'm just saying it isn't a BAD phone. I've tested both of them, and according to me, the EVO is a better option, because it performs better and runs on Android. iOS gets boring after the first five minutes of use, while Android (especially ICS) is a more interesting operating system. You have much more abilities. The iPhone may beat the EVO in some cases (like smoothness in the menus), but overall, the EVO is a winner here.

EVO LTE...
I was surprised at how different the One X and my EVO LTE are...
My brother is an iPhone fanboy, but chose the One X to expose himself for a while to Android. I thought that would be a nice phone for exposure, at least. But, upon looking at his phone and trying to root it for him, I was really not turned on by the phone at all.
ATT Bloatware everywhere
It felt cheap, made of plastic
It was strangely light (a light phone to me just feels cheap... I like some weight)
The One X apparently doesn't support google wallet? I don't know if this is an ATT limitation or if the phone lacks the secure aspect of the NFC chip. But this surprised me.
Also, my brother has ~80gb of mp3s, which is not possible to hold with the One X. So I directed him to google play music manager, and he was turned off by having to play music through the clouds, as they say.
Particularly a hassle to root/unlock (I believe ATT is to blame?)
Oh, and I say my brother HAD a One X, because he has since said he is sticking to his iPhone.
I was surprised at how much I didn't care for the One X and at how large the gap between the One X and the EVO LTE is. The EVO is a finely crafted and well thought out phone. I don't know if the credit goes to Sprint for specifying what the EVO LTE must have, or if that was HTC's part, but it really is a higher quality phone. Be proud
What're your thoughts, if you have had the chance to play with both and compare the two?
:highfive:
Well to be fair, this is the third generation of the EVO. The og EVO was still the best first release device on any carrier in my opinion.
If att keeps the one x as a device to build on, I would think it will improve by its third generation. But I agree, the casing to me speaks volumes about quality and where the og stood on the shoulders of others.
I'm sure they have other qualities that are solid but the EVO is really the only HTC device I will ever be interested in. Can't wait until next spring to see if they bring a 4th gen edition.
Sent from my ClassicJewel
I was able to talk my brother into the one x from a 3gs and he hasn't really complained much. I haven't had the oppurtunity to play with it myself though. He's used to 8gb so I think he'll be happy with 16.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I think Sprint specified these differences between the two phones. While it may be a "3rd Generation EVO," it's still considered a One-series phone. Sprint wouldn't have had the One X without making it different from everyone else. Sprint knows that customers still need expandable storage. They knew the kickstand missing from the EVO 3D was a big let down, so they brought it back. And obviously, the battery... With unlimited data on their network, they need a bigger battery for those heavy users (not fat people). And obviously, the casing needed to be it's own look. Everything else on the inside is One-series, even down to the screen. I like the casing to the One X phone, but you're right, it does feel cheap compared to my EVO.
I'm happy that we got something that no one else could get with the One X, but maintained it's core details (processor, RAM, screen, GPU, etc.).
*Foot in mouth*
Replying to post that was edited. Ignore this.
SD card. We have it, the One X doesn't.
EVO LTE > One X
Sent from my HTC Evo LTE
The differences are mostly superficial aside from the sd card slot and kickstand that do add utility. The bloatware can always be removed after rooting. The fact that it's difficult is normal, just look how long s-off took on the evo lte.
Also keep in mind that the AT&T network reigns supreme compared to Sprint's. The only negative being no unlimited data. I started keeping track of how much I consume and it's general not more than 2-3 gigs a month. Most of the consumption came from cloud streaming services. Pandora and navigation on the other hand don't take up too much bandwidth. So I figure even with tethering and performing essential tasks, you don't need more than 5.
I do agree though it's nice to have unlimited, especially if you're on the road a lot and stream a lot of video (Netflix). However most of that is pretty much impossible to do with Sprint's abysmal 3G speeds. The only reason I stayed was because I'm betting on Sprint's LTE to be decently good. That and the cost aspect. You do get what you pay for though and if money weren't an issue AT&T would be the choice to go with.
If i were on AT&T I would get the unlocked GNex from the playstore instead of a OneX or iphone. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Sense fan, however the unlocked GNex doesn't have anyone getting in the way of OS updates (ahem, Sprint and EVO 3D). I'm happy with Sprint, I got WiFi at work and at home to hold me over until we get LTE in Los Angeles.

I agree..although I used to think aosp was ugly I find myself now a little envious of the gnex even knowing I have superior hardware..these jumps in firmware are very hard to distinguish with a heavy sense overlay..vanilla android has matured and I think the need for skins has diminished..although it seems OEMs are going in the opposite direction..why can't we have a device like the LTE running vanilla..it would be sick..and my next device certainly will be the nexus variety provided sprint doesn't wait 6 months after initial release to drop it..ie galaxy nexus
I think that the GNex is a great phone.
But I won't mind waiting for a good, plain Android to come later while I enjoy this awesome screen earlier.
Looking forward to a nice CM or AOKP, and meanwhile using the Nova launcher and laying out my apps and widgets.
I don't know about others, but I am not liking every Google decision, e.g., notification and ringtone volume locked together.
There's a lot about Sense that doesn't suck at all, the Clock app, Mail, the settings layout, and a few other things.
Imo.

Geez, I thought it was light-hearted comedy.
Alright so i had gotten a warranty replacement OG earlier last week and i had woken up one day only to find it unable to turn on, LG logo would show and then would just turn off, tried to LGNPST it and it had no effect so i called ATT and they sent me to a device support store. They tried using their own LG tools and could not communicate with the phone so they considered it a dead on arrival phone. They didn't have any OG at that location and i needed a phone that day because i was making a long road trip and couldn't go without my phone (gps) so they gave me a OX+... with the option to have them send me an OG when i got home and me send them the OX+ back. aaaaannnd i really really like the OX+.. It does benchmark slightly lower than my OG 17500(ish on the OG) vs 15500 on the OX+ (but i hear that antutu is snapdragon biased?) anyways, hardware wise the OG is better, but this thing is so damn nice in my hand, build quality is awesome, i love the sound quality when plugged into aux (had to turn up the radio to like 30 with the OG to get a muddy quality loudish audio, where the beats eq makes it sound amazing, way louder at like 19 on the radio and MUCH more crisp and clean audio) Camera is way better, 64 gb of internal is nice... plenty of dev.. Im for real torn between them both, i love certain things about both of em and dont like certain things.. Guess i just would like to know what others opinions are about the OX+ compared to the OG, maybe this isnt the right place to post this for an unbiased opinion, but please try and be unbiased? haha
tl;dr
My OG got messed up, they gave me an HTC One X+, i really like it but love the OG also, would like to hear unbiased opinions to help make decision which to keep.
Keep the one x+ if you like it. I would if it was me.
I agree with gunnyman. Keep the HOX+, if you like it. Either way you have a very good phone. Best plan may be to research it like you are buying a new one and pick the one that you like best. If it's truly a toss up, keep the one that you have in hand.
To me the only difference between the HOX+ and the LGOG is expandable storage vs fixed, but 64GB, actually what 58 GB ish? is plenty.
I'm told the battery life on the HOX+ isn't as good, because Krait chips use less power over all and have integrated the LTE radio on the SoC.
If someone approached me today and wanted to trade my LGOG for a HOX+ I'd probably take them up on it.
I may be biased though because my One X is the best phone I've ever owned.

Ok, not trying to start a argument at all. This is just my opinion so do not take this the wrong way. My wife has a one x and I can't stand it. It was ok to begin with but over time I have grown to hate it. She has went through seven replacements since this past September. All for different reasons. To me it is a cheaply made device. She definitely won't get another htc phone and I won't either for that matter. If I was the op I would stick with the lg.

I had 2 HOX's the first one had a bad camera module in it. I've heard of people with problems with theirs for sure, but luckily mine was rock solid.
Only reason I got rid of it was I got sick of At&T and their restrictions on bootloader unlock and such.

Yes. And my One X was fully rooted and had custom ROMS, however it was a pain in the ass and in protest I got rid of my One X.
To solve your sound issues on the OG, use MysteryEmotions' kernel and the FauxSound and Speaker Loudness apps. The camera is a distinct win for the X+. Everything else is either close or a win for the OG. I considered the X+ before I bought my OG, but the OG had a lot more in the Pro column when weighing the Pros and Cons between the two. I wouldn't trade it now for anything currently out there. Even of the upcoming devices only the Experia Z has piqued my interest.
Hmm.. I think I need to root it and remove bloat to really make a solid decision. I've decided that the only thing that the OG wins with is s4 pro and 2gb of ram... Is the s4 pro really that much better?
Also with the mystery & faux fix, it's nice knowing that it was cared about when the phone was being made, not give it the worst possible quality and then never fixed.
Bout to root it and see what's up with the stock rom

the S4 pro is a generation ahead of Tegra 3.
smaller nanometer fab, lower power.
I think the only place it loses to Tegra 3 is GPU, and even that's just barely.
You lose some effects on some games and access to the tegrazone games, but I don't use my phone for heavy duty gaming, I have a Nexus 7 for that.
For me, the feel in the hand and the excellent build quality of the One X+ beat out the LGOG.
The nice thing about the HOX+ is of course, official repos for CM10

Yeah, the S4 Pro is built upon a better chip architecture, and is definitely faster/more efficient then the Tegra 3. Where I would like to disagree is the GPU. Sure Tegra has their effects, but any phone can run those, and use Chainfire3D to unlock that stuff on any phone. The Adreno 320, scores more than double in GPU benchmarks the X+ score.
The X+ wins in official support for now, but other than roms, it has a better camera, and the sound quality is definitely a placebo: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/06/26/beats-me-why-htcs-amazing-sound-on-the-international-one-x-isnt-amazing-at-all-even-by-the-numbers/

Idk if i can agree on the sound quality being a placebo.. The difference in quality with beats off and then beats on is like night and day. And I could Never get the og to sound decent no matter what rom, ad-on, app I used. Always sounded like garbage..
I don't play games on any phone.. Idk how people can be hard core gamers on these.. Lol

Beats is merely an EQ. Its not some type of crazy hardware. I've used the official Beats EQ compared to a One X and the OG was similar. With Poweramp and high quality files, sound quality is awesome on my OG. Yeah 2GB of RAM guarantees support for much longer through ROMs.

Don't let it. Android will manage the ram. You'll only notice if you run more than 4 or 5 apps at once and constantly switch between them. Even with 1 GB of ram androids beat the hell out of iOS for multitasking.

whatevs.. when I was rocking the htc evo (original) people asked was it an iphone...
Everyone who sees it seems to want one.
It is a remarkable phone. I am asked about it several times a day and it is quite a pleasure to demonstrate it occasionally. II have never had a negative response from anyone who sees it or plays with it briefly. I think that a "tablet phone" is what makes sense for virtually anyone who relies on using the internet for their work (or has become dependent on it for conducting their personal business). I simply don't have to carry my laptop or my larger tablet with me anywhere. If "word of mouth" works to spread the news about a product, my experience with people asking about my HTC One Max is an indicator that the product (or others like it) will be quite successful.
Once we get the Kit Kat upgrade and I have the full featured, redesigned Quick Office (with spreadsheet editing capacity and other features), I will truly have my office capacities with me at all times. I think this phone sets the standard which others will follow.
lack of recognition can be a good thing sometimes..it keeps a lot of the idiots out of these threads...
I'm still on the fence about this lovely device. I do wonder if the original note had similar reception.

I am used to pulling out a phone and have someone ask a question about it almost every single time, so it doesn't bother me. I used to have a Hitachi G1000, and it was the same size, only thicker. I just tell them that this is HTC's answer to the note. Then, when I tell them that there was a Samsung phone in the store (Galaxy Mega) even bigger than this, I usually get a chuckle.
One of this phone's strengths is on its premium sound/speaker. HTC should spend more effort on enriching its self advertising, I.e fancy/attractive ringtones and notification tones, out of the box.
Its amazing sound has attracted many people.

I actually had mine up until the one max. Sprint's one up program requires you to give up your old phone at the start. I asked the lady "Any phone?" She said yes, but technically not really. I told her thanks for the yes, and I'd be back. I drove home and pulled out my G. I know it understood. It was time. I even had the charging cradle for that thing. Nothing worse than playing fast and loose with the battery life and having a factory reset happen due to no power...
It's really mind blowing that htc doesn't advertise, and that's why they are getting beat. Samsung and Apple are advertised in just about every kind of media. It's sad because their phones are one of the best, or the the best out. Instead they're getting their asses handed to them.

We are not talking about tones (media content), but talking about 'sound quality' produced by stereo & bigger speakers of HTC one max.

It is unbelieveable, why this amazing one max has no recognition.
If you were the ceo and you knew your product strength is on sound quality, then what will you do?
Will you just relying on your customer to download those too many options of media content in the google store?
Or you will introduce your brand image, by showing and educating customer (teasing competition), "see and hear, this is the sound of a high end phablet supposed to be".

I was just using ringtones as a example
And i dont buy a phone based of clarity, clarity usually means softer in volume unfortunately
But how am i suppose to think the htc max has better sound then the galaxy based of a video with standard speakers , so the video is showing the phones playing sounds through a soeaker, thus is being recorded through another speaker, to me that dont show anything or do either phone justice imo... Im gonna go to sprint and mess with both in person and see which one is better over all phone, not just based on sound / media / whatever else
If max has a clearer sound but is softer in volume then the galaxy how am i suppose to hear it ringing in my pocket? Again ill just wait and see
Both these phone's absolutely have PROS and CONS
One con for max is it has a closed off battery cant get a extended battery
One con for galaxy now have the knox system and can no longer delete binary counts after flashing
And im sure theres more but ill save those opinions, for the right thread and after i went and messed with all the high end devices
Kinda wish htc would push more devices out each like samsung does give more choices for their brand

If everyone watched the commercial below they would all buy a One Max
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=X4Xrtvh70Mc
Its like how white is your white.
whiter shade of white?
If all people test their phone speaker quality by watching this video,
stream it in HD,
full screen (horizontal)
place screen about 25 cm in front of their face.
After they play it with htc one max, then they will start comparing,
not only among phones, but any other speakers from headphones to their home sound system.
Try it with a demo smartphone in your phone retailer.
You will know what eargasm is all about.

I like when I pull out My HTC ONE MAX and People are like WTF! What Phone is that?! And after talking to them and Showing it off to them, they want to get rid of their current phone and get an HTC ONE MAX!
And I have Influenced Quite a Lot of People over the Years with the Tech that I have without even trying to go out of My way to do just that.
I guess that in some Aspects, I'm one of the "JONES'S" that People want to keep up with.
can you imagine how popular this phone would be if HTC actually ran a tv commercial for it?
I have never seen a single magazine/tv commercial for the one max, so "mainstream" people have no clue what so ever about its existence..
Gotta say...I'm pretty torn on whether I'll get another HTC. I love the screen of the DNA. I love the build quality (it feels high end). But the audio quality of phone calls on Bluetooth is the worst I've ever heard on any phone. Also, Qi wireless charging clearly has major issues for many of us. And once again, they're terrible with updates. Oh...and battery is horrible. Camera is fine, but not great.
I came from The Thunderbolt and at the time I swore I'd never get another HTC, but I caved and gave them another shot, because they promised they were turning themselves around. Now, while I love my DNA in some ways, I hate it in others.
So, here we go again. I'm seeing these leaked pics of the HTC M8, and it seems like a dream phone. I want it. But I'll feel like a fool if I get burned again. There's also of course the S5 that we still have to see and a successor to the G2. Both of those historically have awful build quality (cheap cases), but great everywhere else. It'll be a tough call, but I might have to take lower build quality for a more reliable phone.
Anyone agree, disagree? I imagine if your DNA has been rock solid for you, you'll disagree. But others...
They are no longer horrible with updates. I don't think your assessment is fair.
The HTC One is already getting KitKat. That is staggering!
You may not think the DNA is getting the love it deserves, but give credit where it's due. They didn't have to give the DNA Sense 5, but they did.
I would buy another HTC phone in a heartbeat.
Build quality on Samsung phones is getting better, but they still feel like cheap toys compared to HTC phones.

Guess we just disagree there. It's good on The One, but that's just a single phone. The DNA was still being sold just this past fall and as far as I can tell they are doing the bare minimum for it. My gripes more come from the Bluetooth phone call quality, horrible battery life, and Qi wireless charging issues anyway though. I love the phone in every other aspect though. I mean...it's gorgeous.
I'm with you on the battery life, but my Bluetooth sound quality has been fine. It varies slightly depending on which ROM I'm on, but it's never been what I would consider 'bad'.
Maybe your vehicle's stereo system needs a firmware update? Just putting that out there because I have a Clarion NX501 Multimedia head unit with Nav/DVD/etc... and they have put out a few firmware updates that have fixed/improved things like that.

Interesting. I almost wonder if maybe my phone is just broken. I went from an aftermarket Pioneer AVIC headunit, to a Nissan factory and it was bad in both. Like so bad I'll often have to put headphones on so that the other person can understand me. Other phones sound good on those stereos. I switch roms a lot too, but the issue remains. Definitely possible my phone is just defective.
Again though...I do love the DNA...but I'm getting a new phone because I need these other features to work better, so I'm just concerned about getting the M8, even though it too looks gorgeous. I think it depends on what the S5 looks like. I won't tolerate a physical home button

Well, if there's developer support, that definitely plays a huge roll. Honestly, I could care less if there's official updates. I just want Stock Android with Gapps and GravityBox anyway.
Well, all these updates for the One have provided great bases for all the new DNA ROMs, so updates are definitely important.

Yeah...truth be told, Samsung isn't even a consideration unless they go with on-screen buttons or go with 3 capacitive that includes a recent apps button (like the DNA). Otherwise, it's out. I'm hesitant with LG because I fear a lack of developer support. But I think the G2 community is pretty active, so it gives me hope. The G2 feels so cheap though, even though it's high end.

I hope the next generation of the HTC One has a 5-5.5" display, better battery, and a radio that can pick up Verizon's newer frequency band.
Probably not my build quality hasn't been great. Almost on cue right after the warranty goes the usb jack fails, and it's a hardware issue I tried everything. Also one of those thin red aluminum strips on the side just fell off. Occasionally says "new sim" but that has been mostly corrected and not a big deal. The phone functions great but probably won't buy HTC again, and if I do I'll insure it.
The droid X I had before looks like it's been through a war and has never had a single issue.

Yeah just seems like a dinosaur now. Lol. Of my small circle it seems Apple (Lol) and Motorola are solid. Don't like IOS, Android much superior, although I was given a Ipad 4 retina as a birthday gift and for reading books and surfing its nice I must admit. I wish Android would come out with a large tablet on that level, heres to crossing my fingers that the HTC NExus tablet will be that. Not to get off track though, if I was gonna buy today I'd get a Nexus 5.
Nope because I just switched to a Moto X. Didn't really have any major issues with the DNA (wireless charging always worked fine for me) but I always thought it was awkward to hold. A little too big for me and the power button on top was a pain to reach. I've also always liked Moto devices. Like someone mentioned above, my Droid X was a tank and is still going strong to this day (as an alarm clock). The Moto X is very similar in size and feel.
