[Q] TiBu question on restoring apps - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using TiBu a lot to back up and restore my apps now that I'm flashing a lot more, but now with the smaller data partitions in the new JB roms I'm finding myself having to move a lot of apps to the sd card... which is fine. The problem is though TiBu always tries to restore everything to the data partition and will freeze when it runs out of space. Is there any way to get it to remember which apps are backed up on the sd card and restore them accordingly or no?

SOLVED
Go to TiBu's Preferences and scroll down to RESTORATION SETTINGS. Select 'Restore backups to...' and then change option to 'Original location (for TB 3.2.8+ backups)'.
Your apps will now restore to the sd card and you don't have to worry about moving them after a restore!

Backups Dont Work MyBackup Root

So I backed up my stuff with MyBackup Root (Backed up APK+Data). I proceeded to install WB's Gbred and now I am trying to restore the stuff but after restoring, a lot of the applications give the "The Process _______ has stopped unexpectedly" So I am wondering whether I backed it up wrong or is it because I don't have enough internal memory (I had app2sd). If I don't have enough memory, how do I backup half and then use app2sd and make some space and backup the other half
I have old backups containing just Data, and could restore them (SMS, MMS, Call log..) with Mybackup Root without problems.
Try to restore just data.
Wolf GB 2.3.3.
Restore apps in first, then, in the preferences go to Applications -> The second line (sorry I'm French ^^') and select the apps you want to move in SD card. After that, restore data alone

Will the SD card get effected if I restore with xRec

If I recover with xRec, will I loose pix and other things on SD card?
I have some apps/games on the SD card but I'm more worried about pix and other data files
Short answer: no. However, some apps will remove their data/will refuse to read from sd (Like Tap Tap Revenge 4) when reinstalled, so remember to restore the app's data/data partition to ensure that they work properly.
How do I do that?
I had zedge and copied the folder to my computer and after formatting sdcard and re-installing everything, I put that folder back but it's not recognized. I guess zedge had a way to detect backups but now it doesn't.
As long as my pix/songs are safe, I'm ok to flash/restore I guess.

Try using titanium backup (backup root if you're rooted) to restore your app/data after restoring using xrec. Don't restore data using xrec. only use it to restore full rom backup.
i have backed up the apps i would like to with titanium back up..
most of my apps and their titanum backups are on my sd card..
i want to format my sd card but im worried about losing my pics, apps (possibly titanium itself) and maybe xrecovery..
pics and other files are easy to backup.. (simply to a computer)
but is there a quick and safe way to format sd card without losing xrecovery and app backups that i previously backed up with titanium?

Copy everything you need from the card.
A format will always wipe the card clean.
Xrecovery is stored in the phones NAND.. and not on the SD.
Backups made in Xrecovery are stored on the SD.

How to restore apps and data.

I just flashed cm7 2.2.1 and im wondering how to restore my apps back to my phone? or isnt it possible? my sd card has alot of space like 1.4gb before i flashed the rom, and now i almost have full space and im thinking of deleting them and start to a new one if restoring isnt possible, if i delete those things on my SD card, will there be a problem on my phone?
if you have a previous CWM backup from your early version of miniCM7 2.2.0 , you can restore your data, just reboot into recovery, select backup and restore, select advance restore, select your backup, and then select data.img, but make a backup of your miniCM 2.2.1 first
Titanium Backup could be a great tool aside from the one option mention earlier. you can even select what apps to do back up and restore.

[Q] Does TWRP not backup apps on ext sd?

I just restored a nandroid I had and all the apps I had moved to the sd were missing. Is there a way to correct this or do they have to be in the phone storage to be included in the backup? Of course I had everything in TiB, but that's not the same. When I do a nandroid I expect it be exactly the way I left it.
a nandroid backup usually includes the system, data, and boot images. user apps are usually installed on the data partition, but if you chose to move apps to your sd card via application settings then it would not be backed up.

[Q] Restore titanium backup after pie update help

I just updated my s9 to Pie, and did a ful factory reset. My apps are backup up on titanium backup, on my ext sd card. I granted it root permissions. The only way I can see them is going to DocumentProvider and selecting the folder. I can see the folder, and I can see the backups but the "Use Current Folder" is greyed out. What do I need to do in order to restore my backups?
Seems titanium doesn't have access to sdcard, the easy way is just copy the entire folder to internal.
I had problems with Titanium backup as well.
Using Migrate fixed it.
