skype video call and connecting GP5.0 player wirelessly to tv - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hi
im using Eryigit-GB-2.3.6 G70ZCKPA Galaxy Player 5.0 For USA rom.
i got skype installed but i dont see the video call option, why? i do have voice call and IM options just no video call option???Camera on fring works (although just upside down but works,i know there is a fix somewhere for this)
and does anyone know how can i connect the player to my tv wirlessly.i want to stream the media to a regular tv?
i prefer wireless but if its not possible is there a competible hdmi cable/adapter available that will work.
i found this but not sure if it will work
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MHL-HDMI-Adapter-Packaging/dp/B005LGUDKK

Can't answer the skype question, my video chat worked the last time I used it.
As far as wireless streaming, the only way I know of to do it is to create a DLNA server and stream to another DLNA enabled device (computer, PS3, some tvs maybe?). MHL does not work on these devices.

You have to enable video calling in Skype settings.

i do not see any option to enable video calling in settings.

Oh. I don't know what to do then. On my player there was an enable video button in settings.

VLC Stream & Convert - Awesome new market app...

Only been playing with it for a little bit, but there's a new VLC compatible streaming client available on the Market called VLC Stream & Convert.
It allows you to run VLC on a client on your lan (be sure to add the Web control interface from VIEW/ADD INTERFACE) and connect to it. You can either remote control VLC from the phone....or..you can stream video to your phone from the client side app with a simple filesystem browser.
Though the realtime conversion and streaming isn't the best quality it's most definitely handy and orders of magnitude more seamless than dealing with DLNA.
Maybe everyone else isn't a hardcore media geek with terabytes of video spread about a home lan like me. But this addition to the market makes me happy!
Thought I'd share.

This looks really cool. Will definitely try this tomorrow after work!

You may have just solved a problem for me... I am having some issues though.
I have it installed and working. I find my VLC player through the app and can start videos no problem, but there is no audio.
What AAC encoder are you using on your system? Im running on Win7 and cant seem to get it working.

On all the PC's on the home lan I now only ever install VLC, Media Player Classic Home Cinema, and FFDSHOW. VLC's built in AAC decoder generally handles things fine, but if it gets confused (in the case of some encodes with weird FOURCC headers) FFDSHOW usually picks up the slack externally.
I'll run through my collection (it's well over 3 terabytes now so it might take a bit) and see if I run across anything with AAC that this stumbles over. I'm running Win7 x64 on this laptop, so it'll be my guinea pig.
I have a good idea of a few known encodes I have with weird AAC audio header info, primarily because they also won't play natively correctly in the phone's built in video player or rock player. I'll let you know what I find out.
EDIT: Well that didn't take long. It seems that the same encodes with .AAC audio that give the built in player grief (as well as Rockplayer) also refuse to have their audio play correctly in this streaming app. Even more interesting, these all play natively within VLC on the desktop. However, VLC, FFDSHOW, and my universal backup plan when encountering weird stuff that won't play (KMPlayer) all use LIBFAAD for .AAC decoding. Upon further investigation it appears that some .AAC profiles (there are actually six baseline types of .AAC audio...go figure) aren't properly supported by Android's native .aac parser (found this info on DoubleTwists support forums).
Looks like this is a native flaw in Android itself at this point. Going to investigate further. Thank god that there are literally only a handful of encodes in my collection that have this problem or I'd be pulling my hair out.
Can someone show me how to use this to stream over 3G??
I opened ports on my router and got my WAN IP entered but it won't let me connect.
Did you enable the Web Interface in VLC on the client PC? It is not on by defaut.
Start VLC on a PC on your lan, go to the VIEW menu....ADD INTERFACE...WEB INTERFACE. With that selected the android client should automatically find the VLC instance running on your lan connected PC. This assumes no additional firewall is blocking the app on the PC.
I got it working pretty good using wifi inside my network, so I think VLC is setup properly.
What I'm trying to do is to stream through t-mobile 3G.
I did the port forwarding in my router, but couldn't get the app to connect my home PC via 3G.
I've been able to get it to connect via 3G here, though only HTTP audio streaming seems to work. RTSP video streaming seems to be broken via 3g, and again this appears to be an Android issue from what I'm reading.

From the dev's site, found here
"Why does rtsp streaming not work over 3G?
Some operators don't allow rtsp on their network. Http streaming should work instead but for videos you can only stream the audio track."
If its true that t-mobile is blocking RTSP then that sucks. Im going to play with it tomorrow and see for myself.
If this doesnt work then Im back to square one. I really wanted to find a way to use the Twonky media server I already have setup and streaming. I have been streaming videos to friends and family for about half a year now. My Fios 30mb up 30mb down even allows me to stream 720p content over UPNP without so much as a hiccup.
First person that can manage to remove the wifi only option in AllShare gets access to my collection. . I have been trying to find it but im not really sure what im looking for in the code.

Video out through WIFI, possible?

Hi, was wondering if its possible to stream what appears on the device's screen to a tv through wifi. I mean the same way you can use a MHL video cable. I got a dlna tv and I can stream video and music, but I would like to stream what appears on the screen cause I would like to use my workout app through tv's screen instead of sgs2's screen.

I think there is a Samsung app for some Samsung TVs.
Unfortunately, I do not know a dlna streaming app which will connect the SGS2 to any dnla tv via wifi.
If you find a solution, let me know (via PM).
You should have a pre-installed app called AllShare on your phone that lets you stream to any compatable device from your phone using wifi. But must be compatable obviously.

Background video-streaming via AllShare

Hello Community!
I use video-streaming via AllShare to my Samsung TV. It works just great. Atm i am using the AllShare Cast Dongle by Samsung.
The problem is while streaming i can't use my mobile because the videoplayer for example has to be in the foreground. As soon as I switch to another program like Taptu the video stops streaming.
Is there a possibility to use video-streaming in the background just as the musicplayer does? Because while streaming music I can use my mobile as I want.
Thanks for any help.
MX Player supports Background Play for videos. But for audio only :/
Nope there isn't as far as I know. I also got the Dongle and it mirrors the screen 1:1.
Maybe it would work if you pop out the video and use it as overlay, but not sure.

Thank you. Tried this alrdy but this feature isn't available whole streaming. This feature would be just a great thing.
AllShare Cast is for mirroring your phone screen so use it for playing games or browsing internet.....
AllShare Play is for streaming audio/video/pictures to your TV. Phone can be used as normal in the meantime.

Yeah, thank you, but AllShare Play is an online service. I have to register an online storage and a PC first. That's not what I want.
And I don't want to share my movies with dropbox or Samsung. Or did I totally misunderstood something?

I think you understood right. The Dongle supports only AllShare Cast and not AllShare Play, hence it won't work that way anyway if I am not wrong.

From your post I understand that whilst streaming video to tv I can use my phone/tablet as normal.
I have tried this numerous times but as soon as i try to switch from allshare play it closes.
Could you explain how to get this feature working.
I am using samsung galaxy note and samsung galaxy tab 2 7inch, both have the same issue.
Thanks

Its not screen mirroring he's talking about. From what he explains from he's post he can only watch movies, listen to music and watch pictures from sony's apps.. What that explains to me is that he's utilizing the throw function, not screen mirroring witch is making any DLNA certified device into a network player.
Screen mirroring is basicly the same as connecting the tablet to a monitor with HDMI. Showing a mirror image from the tablet (Hence the name "Screen Mirroring") except it sends the signal through the wireless network and to the tv instead.
I can do the same as the OP can through dlna (throw fuction), but screen mirroring is, for me, only viable through a MHL adapter since my tv is an LG tv.
But in case you need to know how I use throw, then here's how I do it. (Its quite easy):
Under settings, got into Xperia.
Tap throw settings.
Tap Throw to choose your desired output (Ie. TV, PC etc. Must be DLNA compatible)
Tap "Add new device"
Tap ok and wait for the device to search your network and lookup your desired device.
Choose your device from the list.
Once the device is added you can tap throw again to make it active.
Enjoy your videos etc on your tv.
Once you have set this up you can enable or disable throw whenever you want from within the apps (Album, Movies, Walkman)

[Q] Need Video Player supporting .VOB & Screen mirroring

Hi,
Need some help regarding video Player for galaxy S3. Looking for a application that supports .VOB file playback also with option to screen mirroring with my TV SONY BRAVIA W650.
I went through many apps that supports .VOB but that doesn't have screen mirroring. Is there any application on the market to do this.
If that is not possible is there any way to make this possible.
Example :
Samsung mobile ( S3) native video player support screen mirroring but doesn't support .VOB format. I tried MX PLAYER which supports .VOB but it doesn't support screen mirroring.
Hope to get any suggestions or help to solve this.

no, you dont have to enable it through mx player settings.
enable on your tv screen mirroring mode, open the normal samsung settings of your phone, enable screen mirroring on your phone and search your tv. now your tv should display your phones content. now you can open mx player and play your video.
