[Q] Kept thinking it was in car mode, reflash to stock, can't connect to pc

My phone went a bit tits up last night, kept opening car mode and thinking a usb cable was connected. thought id reflash to latest lightening rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334124 and started by doing as it said, flashing stock rom but now it will not connect to the pc to flash latest rom or even allow me to use KIES to restore my contacts back up. Sometimes it keeps beeping constantly (the beep you get when you plug usb in) until a cable is plugged in. Have i knackered it?
can you get into download mode without using the usb cable and turning it on.
if you can get into download mode, then attach the usb cable, flash a stock rom.

Does it need to be a particular stock rom? I can get in to download rom.
It wasn't working before but drivers seemed to install while i was in download mode, so have decided just to try installing the latest lightning rom, which it's doing now. Hopefully that solves the problem of it thinking something was connected via USB. either that i presume the usb connection on phone is faulty? Will report back

[Q] USB problem galaxy i9001

I'm facing a strange problem in my Samsung Galaxy S+ i9001 running Broodrom rc2. Since this morning, my phone has stopped showing all signs of being connected via usb. It is charging alright both from pc usb as well as wall charger but does not show that its charging. The various features of phone which require usb to be disconnected before changing are now changing with usb still connected (kies/mass storage/usb debugging etc.) but the phone is not showing up on my pc in any mode. Even in download mode, its not showing as connected in odin multidownloader. The phone usb was working completely fine till last night. I have tried different usb cables, different usb ports, different PCs and different chargers but the same result. To take my phone to service centre and claim warranty, i need to flash stock OS which is impossible with current state of my phone. Please help.

[Q] Booting and USB problems running on Cooks-i777 Rom

I have been running on Cooks I777UCMD8 rom for about 2 months now and have had multiple powering issues. Have tried all the basic trouble shooting, not sure if its the Rom causing the issues or the AJK noswap Kernel, but nothing has been tweaked, running as is. The booting issue is when connecting a USB cable while the phone is powered off, if you try to turn the phone on while the USB cable is still attached you get a POWER RESET OR UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE error message, only way to avoid it is to remove the usb cable and hold power button then it powers up normally.
now the problem with the USB cable, and i feel these two are possibly related, my phone no longer recognizes when its attached to a computer usb hub, it charges, but dose not enter into mass storage mode, nor does the computer recognize that the phone is attached, i have tried on multiple computers with same results, and yes all drivers are downloaded on computers. Further information; Before this problem began accruing, I would get error messages after attaching the phone to a pc VIA usb cable saying ( ONE OF THE USB DEVICES ATTACHED TO THIS COMPUTER HAVE MALFUNCTIONED, AND WINDOWS DOES NOT RECOGNIZE IT ) also, after plugging in the usb cable and windows attempted to download the drivers this error also appeared ( DEVICE SOFTWARE WAS NOT SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED, CONSULT WITH YOUR DEVICE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE ) it later resolved itself for a short time ( couple days ) but now when i connect the phone, nothing happens... i'm hoping somebody has had similar USB problems after flashing a new rom and knows whats going on.
additional information:
- i have two Galaxy S2 phones both running cooks-i777ucmd8 rom and both phones have had the exact same issues.
- previous problems also include boot looping, and frozen lock screen upon powering up the phone. has not happen in a while.

[Q] No Download Mode Detection Galaxy S3 I9300 O2 UK [FIXED]

Hi, first post here.. so Hi
I have an issue with my S3, i can't get my pc to detect it in download mode at all, no reaction from windows.. if didnt plug it in to the pc at all, it worked once, and it took me reinstalling drivers for hours to get it working, this is when i first rooted the phone using the cf-root method..
When i wanted to install a custom rom a few months ago i discovered it went back to not getting detected and has stayed that way
it's as if i've not connected it to the pc at all, i'm using a rear usb port, with the original cable, below is a short list of what i've tried
Tried 3 different cables
Used a brand new install of windows 7 with SP1
tried various Samsung ADB Drivers
Tried every single USB port, front and back on my pc
Used as many different USB Debugging options as possible
I noticed that when i turn on USB debugging after enabling developer mode, nothing changes on the pc, if i remember rightly my S2 made windows install the adb driver when i turned USB debugging on..
Any help is appreciated with this, never had any of this happen with my S2 lol :/ i've been messing around on and off the last few months with it, thankfully there's Mobile Odin and also Nandroid backups for me to fall back on
Pulling the battery with the cable plugged in while my S3 was in download mode is what fixed this for me...
With the usb cable plugged into the PC but NOT the phone, go into download mode.
Connect cable to the phone, then pull the battery out.
Once windows detects the phone and installs drivers it's safe to put the battery back in.
Phone will be detected by Odin/ CyanogenMod installer and so on.
Why in hell having the battery in stops windows detecting the phone in download mode is beyond me.. unless samsung did it on purpose? lol..
Installed CM 11 using the above method and it went perfectly, but i do have to use the above method whenever i want to flash something using my pc, so it's more of a work around than a fix..
Fix was found on YouTube of all places! hope this helps anyone else
