[VZW] Thinking about a GS3 but a couple questions. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I may get a GS3 but only if I can do a couple things ...maybe one thing. Can we remove the annoying, persistent WiFi notification in a stock ROM that's rooted and clockworked? Thank you!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium via Verizon Wireless

Wifi notification? do you mean the 'open wifi networks available'?
You can do that in stock roms under wifi -> advanced.

This is the international S III section. Might want to ask in the VZW device-specific forum.

None of the ones here in the I9100 forums..
Sprint Galaxy S II is the Epic 4G Touch, which has a separate forum.
Thanks. I should have scrolled down more, mods please delete.

If you are on sprint and you want to brick your phone then by all means flash whatever you want from here, otherwise go to the sprint forum.

Galaxy S2 has it`s own Hotspot.Go to Setting->Under Wireless & Networks go to More..->Tethering & Portable Hotspot. You just have to enable it,and set it up.You can even give a password for it.
But don't I have to pay for it? It's on virgin mobile...

No, I don't pay extra for tethering.
Edit: I have also used FoxFi with success ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxfi&hl=en)

AT&T k kernels on Verizon?

Is it safe to use at&t kernels on our note 2? I know lots of people are using the neak kernel for at&t on Verizon and I tried it but it wasn't really for me, so I was curious if anyone had used other at&t kernels successfully on Verizon. Thanks!

From what I understand yes it is, there have been quite a few people I have spoken with on here that use AT&T kernels without any issues.
You need to make a full nandroid before testing it out though just in case....

Everything but sprint's will work

AT&T i527

To the mods: Would it be possible to set up a sub category for the AT&T Mega, or should it be a separate forum?

They probably will not give us a forum for our device any time soon because:
1. Locked boatloader
2. No root exploit found yet.

I did request a separate forum, but I agree with you. Without root and with a locked bootloader, there isn't much for us to talk about that we need a separate forum.

Looks like we might not get a separate forum, as the note 3 will be released at the end of the year

The note 3 is on both AT&T and Verizon's website now. It ships Oct 1 for AT&T and Oct 10 for Verizon so it's just a month away now.

The AT&T Note III wil get a forum because it's a flagship device. The Mega is a mid-range device. Trust me there will be an AT&T Note III forum. It will have more developers.

I agree on the Note, but the Infuse was a very mid range phone and it's forum is still going strong with lots of development....and Scott's Beanstalk build is being kanged to quite a few other devices.
