games and applications problems - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1.I have a Galaxy S3 has been over two months. Bought it in a store in Israel and got VODAFONE company's rom and i still with that rom and I updated to the version added the app flipboard and the option to change the brightness from the notification. I use Samsung's TOUCHWIZ After trying the apex launcher and the nova prime but all have the same problem including in TOUCHWIZ: When I go into applications and games and applications have an issue where files and applications, including all menu takes a long time to recharge. I realized that the problem call redraw could not find a solution. I read the weather widget Samsung's causing the problem and removed it and the problem a little better but still not quite.
Is there something completely solve the problem? My version now is I9300BULG2.
2. When will i get the Jelly bean update? I don't want to change my rom or to do root.
3. When I recharging phone in battery settings I noticed that phone battery charging is via USB. Is this normal?
4.I did updates for some applications in the play store and when I tried to install them I had a message there is not enough storage space available and even though I used 10.86 GB of 11.35 GB and I have a 8GB memory card. What should I do?
5. I downloaded some software from the samsung apps store and after I tried to install there was a message that the installation failed. Is it because I do not have enough space?
Thank you !

[Q] Disappearing apps

This morning I noticed the icons on my home screens for 4 apps were showing the default android icon (the one that shows when an app is removed but the shortcut is still there). All 4 apps were also missing from my app drawer.
The 4 apps were
DeskClock Plus
S.O.S.
NYC Subway by Embark
Tivo Mobile
When I went to market.android.com on my laptop and searched for the apps one at a time to reinstall them, all of them showed installed. It did let me reinstall DeskClock+ and S.O.S., and NYC Subway (though the phone said NYC Subway failed to install because "app already exists" and after this it reappeared in my app drawer and I was able to run it). It didn't let me reinstall Tivo Mobile because it says it was already installed, but after I rebooted the phone the app was indeed back there.
I used DeskClock+ yesterday morning at the gym so this must have happened sometime between yesterday morning and this morning.
How do I find out what caused this to happen, and what do I do to prevent it from happening again in the future?
I'm using an HTC Thunderbolts All of my apps are installed to phone memory (I don't install apps to the SD card since there is plenty of internal phone memory). I am rooted (Ginger BreadRock V2.6 2.11.605.5, Android version 2.3.4).
FWIW, I do use MyBackup Pro (by rerware) with root options enabled, and it is setup to auto backup my data every Sunday in the middle of the night. I did notice in the rerware temp folder some folders/files from DeskClock+).
I also have Setting Profiles automatically reboot the phone every morning.

[Q] Disappearing apps in internal memory

Hi guys, some people are reporting apps going missing after a reboot. These apps are always installed in the internal memory, so not in the phone memory, and they may reappear after another reboot.
As discussed on androidforums.com and communities-origin.sonyericsson.com (I can't post any links yet - just search for "xperia s" apps disappearing internal)
My phone has this problem too. It allegedly has to do with the internal memory being initialized slightly too late during phone bootup.
Questions:
has any of you smart people found a solution or workaround to this?
is anyone else suffering from the same bug?
Do you know what?
I had the same issue..
Then i installed and used Go Launcher Ex as main launcher and i haven't had that problem again.
Now is almost a week that i'm back to the stock launcher, and the "missing app" issue is back.
So i think that is something related to the Sony launcher (and i have all apps in internal memory).
I've had the problem too and thought they had gone. It was only after holding down the volume and power button to reset that triggered it. Anyway after re-booting normaly all was well.

I'm using Launcher Pro and have these issues constantly, but the problem is not related to the launcher - the apps are gone from the entire system. Play Store treats them as not installed, TitaniumBackup cannot run or restore them.
Every time I reboot there's at least one app missing - can be as much as four. And it's quite random too - you cannot tell in advance which one(s) will be missing.
Some more info: FW .73, rooted, DoomKernel, Supercharged to 768 HP, SD Booster at 2048 KB, Launcher Pro 0.8.6.
I had the same problem and I think I have a solution - after reboot, leave the phone be for about 2-3 minutes. do not unlock, do not type PIN.
Just restart and put the phone away for few minutes. All apps that were gone are back and working. No new apps missing. I hope it works for you too!
its a bug , i think there are a few threads in here about it...
ics will fix this , we hope

[Q] S3 I9300 is slow..

I am using stock ROM & JB 4.1.1 in my S3 GT I9300. But it sucks & working slow. Its taking 5 to 7 sec to open contacts & messages. When i use any app like i play game than after exit from app menu icons are also taking some seconds to come. Menu opening is also taking time.. all this sucks alot.Give any solution.
1) Factory reset
2) Root it and try custom rom
3) Sell it and get something else.

I'd suggest doing a factory reset also.
for contacts and texting, replace the stock apps (that indeed are a bit slow) by something else. I might suggest GO SMS pro for texting and exDialer for dialling and contacts. They are way faster (and on some points do sport more functionalities than the stock ones).
Now, for the redrawing of the desktop. The reason icons need to re-appear after you leave a game is that the phone did make more room for this game in memory by closing all the other apps, including the launcher. Therefore it needs to restart it totally when you quit the game. It take time.
Again, you may decide to go with an alternative launcher (I use Apex, but many others are available) in which you can control the staying in memory of the desktop or you might be able to force the TW launcher to stay in memory even if other apps are running. In anycase, doing that will be at the detriment of the game (or other memory hungry apps) performances (they will have less memory). Your decision!
Check free RAM
Go to Settings->Application Manager. Swipe left/right to get to the Running tab. Check if the amount of free RAM (at the bottom) is too low. If so find which apps are using most RAM and try killing them.

[Q] ram managment

hi everyone
i've been using the d620r version for half a year now and there is a problem i see with the ram managment. the phone just can't keep a few tasks running at once. when i listen to music, or chat with chatheads (fb messenger) and open another app, for example maps, browser, or any game, the system simply closes the music and messenger apps running in the background. and i don't even want to mention the homescreen which reloads everytime i open the simplest app...
i am rooted, and this is what i've tried to do to solve my problems:
deleted lg the bloatware (like lg sync etc)
deleted google bloatware (google search, play games, play music, etc)
played around with auto memory manager (setting really low values so apps would not get killed)
tried to force ongoing notifications using the xposed module app settings
tweaked around with gl tools, to decrease graphics so apps would be lighter
decreased screen resolution using resolution changer pro (this helped but it made the phone and message apps to forceclose)
i even flashed another rom, the crystal PA 8 available here on xda.. this actually helped, there was much less closing, BUT the rom is too unstable and buggy for everyday use...
is there anything else i could do?
thanks a lot
I don't know about any other users but root takes something from performance, at least here (D618). What I suggest is: flash back stock, full wipe (KDZ), root but don't heavily use apps that require root, don't use a lot of xposed modules and etc. Hope it helps.

make swap in cache partition because its so dumb to have that much free memory
and thats why apps are being killed
thanks for your opinion. actually, this problem occured even before i rooted the phone. right now, i'm back to stock. i hoped that maybe i could expand my ram using rohesoft swap expander but our kernel is not supported and i couldn't find any custom ones...

kernel doesn't support swap
oooh i was sooo wrong... the cache swap file works perfectly, the phone is much much smoother now
if anyone is experiencing the same issue, just download ram expander, choose the swap file location to cache and enjoy

Apps keep closing on galaxy S3

Hello, I have a really frustrating problem with my galaxy S3.
All apps are closing when I am using them.
It started with Google Chrome that was closing after browsing the web for a few minutes but more and more apps keep closing.
I installed many different web browsers but they all do the same, they freeze and close.
Games and other demanding apps are also doing this, for example: Real Racing 3.
I am running Android 5.1.1 Cyanogenmod and I already tried multiple roms that all had this problem. (All clean installs and I did a factory reset before and after the flashing)
I was thinking of a ram issue (the s3 only got 1gb) I checked the ram usage and there is always about 200mb free ram.
Using Greenify didn't make the apps crash less but it did give me a battery boost.
I don't know anything about the kernel ram settings and I don't know if this can solve the issue.
Is there someone with the same problem or does someone know how to solve this?
Thank you in advance.
edit: i also tried freezing all user apps that are active in the background
I found a sort of solution to my problem, I downloaded the app: Lspeed and I did set the ram preset on "game mode".
Background apps close so I won't get any notifications but I can play games or use heavy apps.
It is not the best solution but I will have to deal with it due to the 1gb ram.
