Hi all. I want Pandora to automatically start, and by start I mean open so I can use my bluetooth connection with my car stereo to control it. Once Pandora opens I can control it fine, but it would be nice to get in the car and have it be open so I can press play on the radio to start the song and not have to go to the phone to make it work. I am not familiar with any kind of terminal apps or command (although I would be willing to learn) so if a third party app is easier that's fine. One that worked for my old droid x2 called "autostarts" does not work with my rooted razr maxx.
Thanks in advance.
Eric
Just a thought. Have you tried using smart actions to do that?

Thanks, I did figure it out using smart actions, but now here's my next problem. App starts like it's supposed to, Bluetooth works. However when i go into work, come out at the end of the day, and my phone is locked, Pandora connects, but controls won't work because it's is locked. I have the Bluetooth override on, but out looks like that is more for an earpiece. The controls won't work unless i lock the screen. Anyway around this?

Anyone using the razr headset with the phone? everytime i workout with this headset i feel like banging my phone on the blardy wall..
For some strange reason it automatically dials my recent calls. I think its something to do with the microphone..when i pant or take deep breaths the voice command thingy comes on, and sometime suddenly just randomly call people...good god its annoying as hell!
anyone know how to disable it? the only reason i use this headset over my seinheriser is cause its LOUD. when your in the gym you need loud bass to keep the pump!
Have you tried restarting the phone? I've had Voice Commands go crazy on me and not let me use my headset to control my music. A simple restart fixed it.
Have you tried a different headset? Maybe you got some sweat in the mic and it screwed something up. I've had this happen also. Do the Sennheisers you mentioned have a mic with music control?
If you're rooted you can freeze Voice Command using Titanium Backup.
Ill try freezing it and see how it goes. No my Sennheisers do not have a mic, thats why it does not happen when i use them, but the sound produced is softer, which is why i dont use em.
Restarting does not help.
Ran in to the same problem with my brother's phone; the problem is voice commands hijacks the headset button. There is an easy way to disable that, for those who are not rooted or don't want to freeze the app: go to settings, Applications and change the double-tap home launch setting to None. Now headset works as it should and controls PowerAmp, rather than popping up voice commands every time.
I had the same issue with mine. Freezing it with Titanium worked perfectly.
If you have an issue with it stopping your music as if disconnected it, I haven't found a fix for that.
And i always find best sony earphones with isolation and with noise cancelling, you'll enhance max trebles in sound settings, get PowerAmp to enhance on basses and for sake of this gorgeous combination forget about microphone.
Original earphones are always not good enough. Always must buy separately.
mass.w on droidrazr
Use "rom tool box" and freeze

U can go to settings and changing the double tap home button to something else. Ur probably hitting the home button twice during ur work out.

Has anyone been able to disable voice commands on stock? It's annoying trying to use pandora with headphones that have a button because the voice command prompt keeps popping up. One work around I've found is to use Headset Button Controller app.
You can also use media button router.... its free in the play store... allows you to map bluetooth device buttons to a specific app or apps... necessity with the ICS leaks because android hijacks the play button for voice commands if you use Pandora or a third party app to play music...

Question for you guys .... I use Google Music but have noticed on my RAZR that often the bluetooth music control (like from my car stereo) only work when Google Music is in the foreground on my phone. It seems to be OK if it was in the foreground and I switch back to Navigation -- I can still control it. But if I start playback from my launcher using iSyncr widget things often get all screwed up and I can only get things right by going directly into Google Music... otherwise the controls on my car do nothing.
Anyone else notice this?
(Same thing happens when I stream A2DP to my laptop ...)
Another issue is I can't use the button on iPhone headphones with my RAZR. I had no issues with my Droid X but it won't answer/end calls nor control music playback. Is this normal as well?
could it be the widget?

Anything is possible -- although I've been using iSyncr since I first got Android and have never had similar issues.
I've been listening to music all day at work via Bluetooth and it's been working -- and that's without having the player in the foreground. So I don't know ... I wonder if it's the stock Motorola player stealing focus? I have never used it but it always seems to be running.
Also any idea on why the headset button doesn't work at all? Not even for call handling.

unless you are using the settings on the stock music player equalizer, I don't see a reason to not use task manager to end it, that may be what's causing a conflict. and I am unfamiliar with your headphones, I rarely use them. but when it do I have some nice sennheiser earbuds my wife got me. normally I use a jawbone jambox (bluetooth) at home and a wired (dynex) logitech speaker at work.

With the upgrade to ICS I am no longer able to make the button on my wired headset pause/unpause music. I've tried freezing the Voice Commands app using Titanium, I've tried using the Jays Headset Control app, I've tried other music playing apps like Rocketplayer. I can always make the button pause music successfully while the screen is on, but if the screen is off it simply doesn't work. My primary music player is the standard "Play Music" app that comes with ICS.
Are others having this problem? Have you found a way around it?
I am having the same issue too, once the screen locks I cant pause, rewind, or fast foward
I'm having the exact same issue using DoggCatcher. I have a brand new set of phillips headphones for android that worked great before the update. If anyone can figure this out, it would be great.
Try Poweramp, it has a setting that gives Poweramp a higher priority for this case (Haven't tested it with ICS yet, but on GB this worked).
Other than that, it's a nice and beautiful music player btw.
Thanks for the poweramp suggestion. I gave it a try this morning but it behaves exactly the same as the other music apps. Headset controls work fine when the screen is on but don't work at all when the screen is off. I suppose it's good to hear that others are having problems too, which means it's not a problem with just my phone. I'd love to hear a solution!

Same problem here after upgrading to ICS. Headset controls work perfectly with the screen on but don't work at all with the screen off. I have tried using JAYS Headset Control, Headset Button Controller, Headset Droid, and the built-in headset control functions of Winamp and Poweramp all to no avail. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the lock screen music controls disappear after installing headset control apps due to some sort of conflict between the app and the Android system.
Anyone find a solution to this? Your ugly red head step child the Droid Bionic seems to have the same problem. So I was hoping there'd be some app or setting to flick to make the controls work when the screen is off.
Also eager to find the best solution on Android, it is pretty easy on iOS!!!
As a music fan, this feature means a lot for us. But seems Android doesn't like music as iOS.
For me, I have upgraded to JB 4.1 and my current solution is create a smart action like launch Google Play Music when plug in headset. The control works for pause and play when screen is off. Actually it also works for skipping by double clicking very quickly, but it seems a little bit hard to achieve, or you can say it doesn't work. But it DOES work sometimes. Good luck!

This doesn't work for me. I think i could use the headset controlls before installing headset controller.

ive been using poweramp, and this may just be my choice in headphones, but ive never gotten those buttons to work on CM10...again this may just be me, but ive never gotten headphone buttons to work on my RAZR
Install Headset button controller, tap on the Advanced label, scroll until you find the 'Advanced settins' entry (it's the last on the list), check 'Prevent sleep mode' option. It works fine, but it's a shame we have to pay for an app in order to fix a os's bug.
For me the problem was MotoCast. After I disabled in the settings everything worked great.
Sorry if this is out of place here, but I'm getting zero help from Pandora and Alpine on this one. Just wondering if others have seen this issue and how it might be resolved.
When I connect my Alpine CDE-HD137BT car stereo to my HTC Thunderbolt running Pandora, the connection is made and the music plays. I can even skip, pause and play songs from the car stereo buttons. But the Pandora app on the phone just shows a black screen with:
Pandora
^v (up/down arrows)
Alpine
...and not the regular Pandora screen with the artist, track name and cover art.
If I go to the Android notifications screen where it shows what song is playing in Pandora and touch that notification, it takes me to the Pandora app and very briefly (for a fraction of a second) shows the regular Pandora screen, then immediately goes to the screen described above.
The Menu button when the screen describe above is showing only gives one option: Quit. This, of course, ends the Pandora app altogether.
I've seen videos online of others controlling Pandora on their Android phones from this particular stereo unit, and the normal Pandora screen is shown on the phone, which should be the norm here.
Any guess what's causing this? Anyone seen it before?
I'm running a rooted version of the stock Gingerbread image.
If you go into the settings before pairing your device hit the advanced menu and select Bluetooth for automotive.

Yes, that I've done, thus the fact that I can hear music, skip, pause and play. Everything operates normally, there's just this annoying screen, as described in my original post, overlaying the normal Pandora screen, so I can't see what's playing.
Hmmm... Thats really weird.

I have the same head unit and pairing it with my HTC EVO 3d running Mik's ICS.... I too have the same screen... It might be a HTC thing
old thread, but I just got the same head unit today. I've got a droid 4, and Pandora does the same thing. It's a pandora thing, not an alpine thing. When the head unit is first connecting, the screen says the same thing, but instead of alpine, it is accessory. It might be getting the alpine logo over bluetooth, and it's just a generic API.
What you can do: just do bluetooth audio. You should still be able to control pandora, but you will probably lose the thumbs up / down and other pandora specific features, but play/pause, and next track should work just fine.
its both Alpine and Pandora if you want to display pandora and not the black alpine/pandora screen use the BT Audio function you have some of the functions you can skip songs play and pause but you cant use the search feature or thumbs up/down
So I must be missing something super obvious or I just need a new headset. I have an older cheap Plantronics 390, but it says it will do voice commands if the phone supports it. I assume this means it sends some sort of standard voice command signal and lets the phone open up the appropriate app to handle the actual commands.
Anyways, I click the main headset button, get a little beep in my ear and nothing happens. The phone can be unlocked or locked. Doesn't matter. No apps open up and the phone ignores any voice commands I give so I'm sure it's not listening in the background.
Now I have verified that the headset actually works. I've used it on a phone call and when opening the S-Voice app manually. But I'd like to be able to use my bluetooth headset in my car completely hands free rather than have to touch the phone.
My car head unit works just fine you have to be in an app and be ready for the commands though try using the Google Now
