FYI if some people aren't getting your MMS messages it might be because your message size is too big. My outgoing message setting was set at 5mb which was too large for others to receive. If people aren't responding or getting your messages, change the setting in your message options to 1mb and that should fix it.

Hey guys. I'm having a little big problem with messaging on the Vibrant.
When I send SMS to someone, it only sends half of it and some weird square symbols.
Let me try to explain. I'm on threaded view on the Messaging app, and it shows the balloon with the message and "more...". I can click there to read the full message.
The issue is, the person I sent it will only receive the SMS up to that point, followed by some weird squares. I believe it shows this when i try to write more than 80 ~ 85 characters, way lower than the usual 160 limit for SMS. I don't get the More... for incoming SMS, and I receive them full. It only cuts in half the ones I send.
I was on stock ROM, upgraded to JI6 to see if it was fixed but still getting the same issue.
Any ideas why I'm getting this? It's so weird...
Thanks for your attention!
EDIT: As a friend advised me, changing the alphabet to GSM instead of Unicode fixed it. Thanks anyway!
Vodafone have recently been charging me for text messages, even though I'm within my limit.
I emailed them, and they said some texts/calls are chargable. One of the charges was for "Picture messages, long texts etc"
Now, I often do send long texts (although I always have done and have never been charged before...)
My question is, does the Hero split long texts up into two messages on the recipient's phone, or does it send it as MMS?
Wassup Looie..
If they go over a cetain limit... i think its 4+ texts.. it will convert it to a MMS and sent it that way instead of 4 split texts.
I just tried texting some1 with 4 pages worth of text.. and it refuses to send i dont think i have MMS set up. But i remember sum1 text me a long message, and i recieved a 1kb MMS msg instead of texts. So maybe thats why they're charging u!
Calico
yeah, I've never sent a text message over 4 texts, especially not 30 times!
Guess I'm going to have to ring up again
Thanks
My phone will receive split texts, usually just too far apart. I'll get the first 160 characters, then the next 30 or 40 or whatever it may be up to a minute later. Any fix for this? Is there any way through any app to automatically turn a text of 160+ characters into an MMS message, or am I pretty much just stuck with this?
I recently installed Cyanogenmod 9.1.0 instead of the stock ROM on my SGSII. Now, when receiving MMS messages with my data connection disabled, I do not receive any notification on my phone stating that a message has arrived. This includes no tone being played, no vibration, and no Messaging icon on the upper-left of my screen. However, if I open the Messaging app, I can find the unread MMS message in my inbox and read it.
In addition, it seems like my battery runs out very quickly when there are MMS messages that have not yet been downloaded, and when checking the Battery settings screen, it shows that >80% of my battery has been used by the Messaging application (standard being <5%).
MMS message notification works as I expect when my data connection is enabled. SMS message notification works as I expect regardless of the state of the data connection. MMS message notification worked as I expect regardless of the state of the data connection on stock ICS.
Bug occurs 100% of the time and can be reproduced at any time. Bug has occurred ever since installing Cyanogenmod for the first time. Reproduced both when receiving pictures and receiving text-only intended for several recipients.

All phone numbers have been cleared from the logs to protect the innocent.
Does anyone else suffer from the following issues:
1) SMS messages just not sending and asking me to try again even though it does send sometimes when it says failed? Can receive fine but not send.
2) iPhone users not being able to receive some SMS that contain some emojis.
Really frustrating errors, does anyone experience the same?
