[Q] No Notification When Receiving MMS Message Without Data Connection Enabled - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I recently installed Cyanogenmod 9.1.0 instead of the stock ROM on my SGSII. Now, when receiving MMS messages with my data connection disabled, I do not receive any notification on my phone stating that a message has arrived. This includes no tone being played, no vibration, and no Messaging icon on the upper-left of my screen. However, if I open the Messaging app, I can find the unread MMS message in my inbox and read it.
In addition, it seems like my battery runs out very quickly when there are MMS messages that have not yet been downloaded, and when checking the Battery settings screen, it shows that >80% of my battery has been used by the Messaging application (standard being <5%).
MMS message notification works as I expect when my data connection is enabled. SMS message notification works as I expect regardless of the state of the data connection. MMS message notification worked as I expect regardless of the state of the data connection on stock ICS.
Bug occurs 100% of the time and can be reproduced at any time. Bug has occurred ever since installing Cyanogenmod for the first time. Reproduced both when receiving pictures and receiving text-only intended for several recipients.
Contents of logcat files:
logcat.txt: Data connection disabled. Received an SMS message followed by an MMS message.
logcat2.txt: Data connection enabled. Received an MMS message.
All phone numbers have been cleared from the logs to protect the innocent.

[Q] Motorola Droid X MMS messaging problem

I just got this as my first smartphone, so excuse the newbie! I just bought this phone from The Phone Cellar on eBay. I am on Page Plus' Talk n Text 1200 Plan. I cannot seem to send MMS messages on my phone and wonder if this is an issue with my plan or with my phone.
When I try to send a text message, the phone automatically tries to send it as MMS. I get the error "No data connection. Please check your MMS APN configuration in mobile network settings." But on the phone settings page, the only thing that shows up under Mobile Networks is a System Select option -- either "Home Only", or "Automatic." (I've tried both, and I still can't send MMS).
After I try to send a text, it fails, shows the error message, and the phone then reverts to some non-MMS format (the "MMS" indicator goes off - maybe that's SMS?). I can then send a text. So every time I want to send a text, I first just send a one-letter text that fails and then send the text I want to send! Picture messages never work.
I called Page Plus and they reset all the data features on my account and re-provisioned my device into the network, but that didn't work.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

[Q] mms auto send and retrieve

Running cm7.2 official rom and wondering if rom auto sends and receives mms. If not is there a kernel update or other update I can flash to fix this. I would really prefer it auto send and receive. Thanks in advance.
what do you mean by auto send and receive? all ROMs receive MMS and SMS automatically when they are sent to that phone. i'm not quite sure what you are asking
I have a mot bravo running an unofficial cm7 build, when sending or receiving mms, mobile data is automatically turned on and off. This way my data is off so I don't have to worry about usage but still receive mms.
MMS and normal data use different APN settings.

Yes they do, I'm trying to say that on my moto bravo, when sending a MMS message, I attach the picture to text and then hit send. After hitting send the mobile data icon appears in the status bar and the message w/ pic is sent. When someone sends me a pic, my mobile data icon appears automatically and the pic is ready when I view the message. On the atrix 4g, this doesn't happen. If I want to send a pic I have to turn on mobile data before making the MMS so that when I hit send, it is sent out. Also, if someone sends me a pic, when opening the message there is a button labeled download that I must hit after making sure my mobile data is turned on for pic to be downloaded. I like the way the bravo ROM handles the MMS better.
I hope this is clear enough now.

MMS issue only while connected to wifi

I'm using the C6806 GPE edition z ultra, bootloader locked and unrooted. I've run into an issue with sending and receiving MMS messages while I am connected to wifi. I am not attempting to send messages over wifi and my APN settings are correct. If my wifi is turned off, I can send and receive without issues. But when it's on, my outgoing mms will sit "sending" forever. Incoming messages come through with the download link but I have to disconnect from wifi to be able to sucessfully download.
I've tried multiple messaging apps and all seem to have the same issue. These are the ones I've tested: Hangouts, EvoleSMS, 8SMS, Textra. Even with the recent update in 8SMS to enable mobile data to send MMS, it still gets stuck in a sending state and is never received by the person I am trying to send to.
Has anyone else had a similar issue or any idea of how to fix it?

[Q] Can an MMS text turn data connection on automatically?

when someone sends you a picture, video or group text message, it comes in as a multimedia message (MMS). when connected to wi-fi only, the message comes into your messaging "in" box, but the audible notification does not ding, nor does the message text completely download. (this on the stock android 4.4.2 text messaging app.)
however, as soon as you turn your data on, both the audible notification rings and the full message text comes thru.
my question: is there any setting available that will automatically turn the data on when an mms message arrives? if so, where is it found? or is there a workaround that will do this?
if not, well, that's just dumb.....
thanks!

Android 10 drops SMS messages after idle?

I've got an Ulefone Armor 9 I recently purchased. As part of setting it up to work as desired, I swapped away from the default messaging app to one that supports dual SIM operation a bit more gracefully.
I've since noticed that after a prolonged idle, such as sleeping, the phone drops all SMS messages. It isn't that they don't send notifications -- they simply don't exist as far as I can tell. I tried a different messenger, and while it displayed the texts received with the other one, the missing messages weren't there either.
This doesn't appear to be an issue between the carrier and phone. Or, rather, if it is it's impacting both carriers at the same time, because sending text messages to both numbers when the problem is present results in neither being delivered. The carriers don't buffer the messages for later delivery as if the phone was offline, and calls come through okay but do not resolve the SMS issue.
I can reboot the phone or manually open the SMS app/bring it to the foreground, after which point I will start receiving messages again. Only ones sent after performing this activity, however. The prior ones are lost.
I've checked to ensure that the app itself is running in the background and Android says that it is. I've not got anything that should be pausing it (that I'm aware of), so I'm not sure why Android would stop sending it messages. I'm also not familiar enough with Android to know how the OS handles texts. Clearly there's some sort of storage & OS management, because the alternate app I tried as part of troubleshooting was able to pull my message history.
Has anyone got any ideas on further troubleshooting steps, or insight into how Android handles texts in general that might help narrow down the point of failure?

I'm not sure if this would help but try messing w/ "App Blocker's" settings for your SMS app or even disabling App Blocker altogether (in the settings menu under "smart assist" I think).

Unfortunately, it was already off, so no dice there. Ulefone pushed an update I thought might have fixed it, but after about 18 hours of idle I sent a test message and it fell into the void. Opened up the messenger app again and sent another and that one arrived without issue, but no sign of the first.
