I have a rooted S4 Verizon, Hyperdrive ROM. I cannot send MMS messages. Data is constantly turned on in settings. When I turn WIFI off I'm able to send a MMS but if WIFI is turned on it will not send a MMS.
Any suggestions?
I recently set my DNA back to stock because I was having this issue with every ROM I tried. I still have the issue on the stock unrooted ROM. When I'm on WiFi I have trouble sending MMS. It seems that most of the time the messages fail, or take extremely long to send. If I turn WiFi off, my MMS will send perfectly fine most of the time. It seems to struggle the most sending group MMS, especially with my Sunday Baseball league with 14 recipients.
The odd thing is it seems to receive MMS just fine. Does anybody else have this issue or know how I might be able to fix it?
In Google Hangouts, my SMS works fine and I can send MMS without issues. However, I cannot download any MMS messages I receive. I only get an error. I checked my APN settings in Hangouts, and it's set to the correct settings. There's no APN settings in Android Settings that I can find on the G3 (?). I don't have this issue with any other texting apps.... does anyone know how to fix it with Hangouts?
Do you have WiFi calling enabled? I have issues sending messages when it's on.

No, Wifi Calling is disabled.
I recently ditched my original Samsung ROM (Android 4.3) and flashed Archidroid 3.1.5 (based on CM12.1) in its place. I'm loving Lollipop 5.1 and have gotten everything working - except for MMS. When I'm away from WiFi, I can send and receive MMS no problem. When on WiFi, I can send MMS but can't download them. I get the text saying there's an item to download, but when I hit the download button it spins for a while then gives up. Needless to say, this didn't happen before I upgraded.
I've checked my APN and have verified that I have the right settings for an unlocked smartphone, according to the AT&T site. Can anyone advise me on how to fix this? I'm already tired of having to turn off WiFi every time I get an MMS.
UPDATE 7/27/16: I've also verified that the AOSP SMS app has the option "Auto-enable data" turned on, which is supposed to momentarily turn on mobile data for MMS messages.
Thanks!
USA TA-1085 here, had this issue since I've had the phone. I'm on an AT&T post-paid plan and I can't send or receive MMS, whether it's a picture or a group text, while connected to WiFi. If WiFi is switched off or not connected to a network, MMS functions seamlessly. If connected to a network, Android Messages will prompt me to download, and it'll spin for awhile and then time out. I've tried other messaging apps like Textra with no results. My APN settings are the same as my previous phone (Moto G5+)
Nokia Support had me delete a lot of system app data, toggle battery saver, and nothing worked. They only indicated that a solution may be presented through an app or system update, that they report bugs to Google with a request for resolution, that updates "usually come every month" and "most likely within November I should receive it." For what it's worth, that's a similar response I got to issues with Smart Lock, and those issues have since been resolved.
Has anyone else seen a similar issue and fixed it?
I just tried this on my 7.1 and had no issues. I sent an mms from a MintMobile device to my 7.1 on AT&T and it worked with the WiFi connected. I know this doesn't really help but I'm just letting you know as another data point.
I had issues with MMS in general. I removed all the APNs, created a new one with all the proper TMobile info, and installed Textra (which I own). No issues since then.
Oddly, I wasn't aware I may have been having MMS issues but while I was checking the APN for LTE connection I messed something up and lost connection completely and reset my APN's to default. This prompted an MMS message to be immediately delivered upon reconnecting which could have been a coincidence but after seeing this post and testing sending MMS messages to myself and friends, I have no issues now on T-Mobile on Wi-Fi or off.
Saw a thread in the Nokia 7.1 forum that links this behavior to WiFi calling. Is that enabled on your phone?
