Has anyone gotten this to work successfully on a stock-based ROM? AOSP Flavored Nonsense seems to have died on the vine, and none of my tricks with adb can seem to get this going on a BAMF based ROM.
Anyone have any luck with this?

This is in the complete wrong section but I'm going to help you anyway.
Download my File Mms.apk, place it on your Sdcard.
Remove HTC Messaging app via ADB or file explorer
Push Mms.apk to /system/app via ADB or file explorer
Then go to sdcard and INSTALL the Mms.apk
Reboot Phone
I'm not sure if pushing it is necessary before installation, but it's what always works me for. Remember this will remove your HTC Messaging app so back it up first, and if you want it back just follow these instructions except with the different apps.
Lemme know this works!

Aren't there problems with MMS not actually sending when using the stock app? I'd love to use it, but I remember reading about these issues

When I send it from the gallery it crashes, but I reopen it and it sends.

But yes, I actually removed the htc app and dropped in the stock one with root explorer, did a fix permissions, rebooted, then installed. All my messages were there, didn't need to restore them, and it worked like a champ.
MMS is acting flaky I got it to send once and now nothing. Going to try the AOSP Gallery and see if that fixes it.
Okay, install 3dGallery, and start a text message in Messages, hit menu, go to attach, picture, select gallery, select the picture and then it will send.
At least so far that seems to work.
Not quite the out of the box AOSP experience, but getting closer.

Is anyone else having this problem? I'm also not able to download the Barnes and Noble reader for android frm the market. I've never had the 7.0.3 stable before but maybe the 7.0.3 stable is better??? idk, but i need some help.

Edit /system/build.prop to show that qemu.sf.lcd_density=160 not 161. Force quit Market and clear its data. Reboot. That makes it work. No need to tell people to "search the forums." It's not hard to just post the solution, instead.

Sorry, but I'm getting very sick of the billions of threads on this topic. Another option is to uninstall market updates and then freeze, delete, or rename marketupdater.apk

Is there any way I can permanently link my facebook contacts with my gmail contacts? Everytime i change to a different rom i have to link them! Right now im on the stock Sprint Hero rom unrooted... thanks in advance!

yea that worked, but it wont show the picture on facebook, just the info they put on there.... what i need is something that will link the actual facebook contact with the one stored on my phone.... permanently! cuz everytime something happens with my contacts (new rom, hard reset, etc etc) i have to link them!
I get the same problem when I freeze the Fbook app when it never stops running. you'd think contact storage would be left untouched
It's a good idea..I will try to make an app for this..This would be pretty useful for all of us..

Placed them, changed permissions like the rest of the apps i'm using and still nothing happened. What exactly am i doing wrong? They won't work at all.
After placing the apk, reboot your tab and check.

Same problem. Does anyone have a solution?
I have been doing a lot of Googling, and as much reading, and can't seem to find anything explaining what the output of a LogCat actually means. I'm assuming most of it you start to understand from time spent developing, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any sites explaining LogCat terminology, possible solutions, and overall understanding of what is in a LogCat, and what it all means.
Any help would b much appreciated!

Yeah that's gna help a little. I just with there was somewhere I could go that I could use as a reference when troubleshooting and debugging. I guess after I learn what I can, I will have to write some kind of reference for people. Bit thanks, I'm gna read thru those posts today. :thumbup:

Yea. I've read that one before, I realized. Its what help me get to the point where I'm at. It just seems there's nothing out there that will aid in the understanding of the syntax and language used, where the errors point to, and what steps to take to fix them. Maybe that'll b my first great contribution to xda.

That's actually unix commands.. So if you search "Unix logcat syntax" online u might be in luck for full info..

Try this : adb logcat -v long *:W*:S > file name.txt
The -v long puts the text in a nice format that is more easily readable. The *:W will search for all warnings, errors, and fatals, while the *:S will silence everything else.
So essentially, u will have a .txt file that has a log of all warnings and up, nothing else, and it'll look pretty too!

If you want to see in-android then use terminal emulator and remove adb in command given..

The LogCat always goes on and on. As long as your phone is on, its always doing something, so the LogCat will continue to go on and on. If you wanna look at what's on the page, just scroll thru, on aLogCat (app from market), that pauses the screen. Log cat still records, just pauses the stream foe u to look. Now about the app part. As far as I know, if you run logcat the run the app, logcat will let u know if there's anything wrong with the app. If no warnings or errors show u, then no problem. But the commands that I posted back a few posts were for someone else. What those commands do is record logcat in a easy-to-read format and saves it as a .txt file to your desktop. That's because android is a Linux os. Its based on Unix, as is Ubuntu, which is what I'm running on my laptop.
