Whether you’re looking for directions, checking email or sharing a picture with friends, apps are now an indispensable part of life. And if you’re using Android, it all starts with Google Play, home to 675,000 apps and games. That’s a lot of choice. We’ve now crossed 25 billion downloads from Google Play, and to celebrate we’re offering some great discounts for the next five days.
Every day you’ll be able to choose from a collection of apps from some of the world’s top developers including Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, runtastic, Full Fat and more. And all for just 25 cents. We’ll also be offering some special collections like 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and our 25 top selling magazines, all at special prices. Visit Google Play a little later today to check them out.
Twenty-five billion is more than twice the distance, in miles, that the Voyager 1 spacecraft has travelled since its launch 35 years ago. It’s the amount of time, in minutes, that have passed since some of our earliest ancestors began to set foot in Europe. And now, thanks to all of you, it’s a Google Play milestone. We look forward to the next 25 billion.

great app prices, but someone needs to work on the carrier billing option...
For at&t..i called them and they had no answers. when i tried carrier billing, first i got an error asking me to try again. dozens of tries and various cache and data clears and soft resets later, still nothing and it took away option to choose carrier billing at all! apparently this is a problem that google, google search, xda forum search, at&t or anyone hasn't an answer for. last resort i will try uninstalling google play updates, then try carrier billing, then reinstall updates with one more try. i am running the original ics upgrade from at&t on my rooted galaxy note...anyone out there have any suggestions? all i want is the sbmx app for a quarter! i have a debit card but i dont think i even have 25¢ on it right now! thanks....

I ran I to the same issues many months back. All I can suggest is to try a different Gmail account. If that does work call at&t and ask them if they have a downloading block on your account. Hope that helps.

Hey Y'all
My friend has a great App on her iPhone (spit spit) called Shift Worker, that you can organize all your shift patterns.
Then you can see at a glance what shift your on on what day.
I can't find anything like it for my Desire.
Anybody seen anything?
Cheers

Hey o4kareg
Cheers for the links.
I'll start with the first on your list & work my way down.
Many thanks

Hey o4kareg
None of the above programs really caters for shift workers.
They are more of a too do list.
I have seen an App called Shift Callendar.
This caters for people that do shift work.
Thats more the sort of thing I'm after.
Thanks for your help
E
OK scrap the one above.
There's a better one called Firehouse Scheduler.
But at $5.99, I think they can wait as I won't pay that money for a program that may not quite fit the bill.
I'd want to try it out first.
Thanks for your help o4kareg.

Erm, would you not just use Google Calendar and maybe recurring events? I made a separate calendar (I have 3 in all) called 'rota'...
Hey Andy
I was hoping to use something that catered specifically for shifts.
Its a bit hard to explain, but basically although the shifts are either AM shifts, PM Shifts or Nights.
Each daily job on either of the above shifts, can start or finish at a diferent time.
We have about 40 AM jobs, 40 PM jobs & 40 Night jobs.
One AM Job might start at 05.00 in the morning & finish at 2pm, the next day's AM job might start at 06.30 till 3.30pm
So a week of AM jobs might all be starting at diferent times of the Morning & finishing at diferent times of the Afternoon.
(have I explained that ok?)
So its not enough just to know that I am on AM's next week at a glance, i really want to know also that I am on at 6.00am & finished 3pm.
I think a dedicated App, may have shortcuts to be a able to configure this rather than just feed it all in to a calendar, else I could probably do that with the standard Calendar that comes with the HTC?
I'm probably asking too much.
I know that my old XDA II, had a terrific organiser, that I used a lot.
At the mo I use a Filofax & write in all my jobs for the next 6 months.
I was thinking about an app that I could feed in all the diferent job start & finish times. (each job is numbered) So if I tell the App that I am on job no. 122, on the 22nd June, 31st July & the 18th of Nov.. it will fill in the start & end times for me on the aproppriate dates.

E
the app "My Work Schedule" does this, but I think it is not very good, it has no widget for example.
I am planning to make a new app for it, my wife also works in shifts.
all-and-all it will be a simple app:
- define your shifts
- fill your schedule with the shift (name, start, stop)
- show a list of your future shifts (day, date, shift)
- widget showing next 10 shifts/days.
(optionally export to the normal Calendar)
Sounds great!
Let me know when you've got the App, up n Running.
Regards
E
This Would Be Awesome
This is about the best that Android has to offer at the moment... works quite well.... takes ages to setup, but once you have added the pattern you see your shifts on any of the calendar apps (I then use Jorte to display these).
amy more news on a shift worker app for droid ??
Still the best for Android http://www.streim.de/quickaddroid/
Shift Worker by Taul Apps works great. It's not fancy, but it is very simple to setup and use. You can put 4 schedules in it and it will show you what time you are off together.
Just type "taul" in google play and it will come up.
Shift Schedule
Also you can try Shift Schedule - it is my first application for Android. It is absolutely free, and without ads. You can find it on Goolge Play, and also on application site. Version on the site can be more fresh.
i need one a bit like uk rota in the ios camp. being a train driver i never do the same shift twice in a week.
i have varible start and finsh times thoughout the week, and would also like to enter my duties (ie what time i pick a train up - this would save me having to rely on my duty books) into the app.
and most off all i would like it to sync with google calender so my wife and friends know when im going to be off.
everything ive seen so far in the market comes up short.
cheers
Try "FlexR", I have many bus drivers among my users, they have the same problem.
Google Calendar sync is in beta now, ready in a few days.

SHELVES looks like a great app to keep inventory of DVDs, games, books, etc. - similar to Delicious Library for iPhone.
Unfortunately, Shelves doesn't work on my Streak (USA 2.2). When I scan a barcode to add a DVD movie, it says "Couldn't add movie. You might already have it". Needles to say, there are zero movies in my library.
However, the program works great with books - scan the code and it find the correct book and adds it to the shelf.
Am I missing something in the settings? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

This sounded like an awesome idea to me when I saw this post.
I have about 500 DVDs in my collection and keeping them straight in my head has been a hassle for me for a couple of years now. This sounded like just the solution.
So, I put it on my Streak to test it. And, had the same exact issue you are seeing with it so far as my DVDs are concerned. Didn't even try the books. Only a hundred or two of them, and no problems remembering yet.
I get the same issues using DJ 1.7. Bummer looked like an interesting app.
Solution...?
Unfortunately, the last update for Shelves killed the app for many handsets - found it on apps feedback om the Market.
I could not find where to get the older version of the app - is it possible at all?
However, I am using a different app now, PackRat, free on the Market.
Not as visually attractive as as Shelves would be, but it works great!
I'm in the same boat with many of you guys. Lots of DVDs and Shelves only returns the BS might already be in your library error for me as well.
On edit- I downloaded Packrat and it does take a long time to get results, but it does get results. However, out of 18 DVDs it couldn't find 3 of them (3:10 to Yuma, Adventureland, and Hot Tub Time Machine). Also, out of 12 books it couldn't find 2 of them. Google goggles was able to find all the ones that Packrat was missing. Between the speed and the fact that I have hundreds of books and DVDs to catalog, I'm not sure this will work for me. The miss percentage is too high. I tried putting one DVD in manually, but I see no way to add a picture and adding potentially 100 DVDs manually would take forever.
Second edit- I've now attempted to use packrat to scan 50 more DVDs. It was able to find 26 of them. Again, these aren't indie titles, but mainstream titles like the ones I mentioned above. And, again, Goggles was able to find them. I'm done with Packrat.and still searching for an alternative to Shelves.
have you spoken to the developer of shelves?
most developers are more than happy to go through issues with you and try and resolve them if you're polite and thorough, and willing to help them with testing
First off,
Sorry moderators If I choose the wrong subforum to post
Today, I was warned by Google about some behavior with my account and suggested to change my pass. I thought was due my 3G experiments and new IP etc.
Later, testing everything was alright I see a Samsung tablet added to my Play account on November 22, 2012, but don't have one. Only had Motorola and all the time.
Then, I saw my Google account was accessed from Russia but also from United States. And I'm not living there, neither two countries. I see US was the first external Country added to my activity report along November, and Russia was added on December.
The strange thing is Gmail not displaying any strange IP, only local IPs from my computers and phone.
Minutes ago, checking what was download from Market I've found lot applications I never installed. Adults and Games applications.
Do you think this can be because some android apps?
I never downloaded from other sources than market but used custom roms form this lovely forum.
Do you think it's some kind of market problem when devices are identified?
I would like to remove that apps not downloaded by me and the device itself. But seems there is no way to do that.
Any ideas will be really appreciated.
First of all, I would recommend you stop experimenting with your IP . Secondly, you can remove the downloaded apps from the Play Store list but it's a time-consuming process.
1. Open Play Store.
2.Press the Menu button and select My Apps(Phone) or click the Download icon(Tablet).
3.Click the All Tab.
4.Next to each app, there should be a cross or some other icon.
5.Click it and the app shall be removed from your download list.
6.Celebrate !
7.Hit thanks if it helped

Hi,
Thanks for the advice about IP. But this should not be a problem.
This probes how stupid become some companies within time. And we accept his stupidity.
How Google allows connections to your account form a different country than the one you're living?
Small companies have this security option by default.
Two steps verification is one option but not the final solution. This is basis 101. Now I know Facebook or Yahoo are a lot safe.
Now the problem is to remove from my account the android device I don't have.
Some friend says Facebook only needs a search engine to kill any players and seems he is right. I'm very disappointed by Google and unfortunately I have to stick with or move away to Apple.

Whoa man! No need to take such quick actions due to some small flaws Google allows the access because you were still using your phone which is synced to your Google account during the process of testing your 3G and changing IP.
If you ever missed the old market icon, name, or not having to search through music, videos, books or magazines. Install this it's one of the original android markets it works great and the best part is it won't update on it's own change your settings or anything like.
PLEASE HIT THANKS
Cool! I like the Play Store myself. I have a few magazine subscriptions that I read on my tablets, have a few books(though I've never read them, lol), and have rented a few movies and bought a couple. That said, I suppose there are some people who might prefer the old Market and use it. At least this gives people the option. Even though I'll never use it, thank you for sharing!!

Although unintentional I found out this mod lets you rate and comment on apps in the market without having to have a google + account
I've looked high and low. I know they're out there because stock tw phones have it, even the pitiful iPhone has it.
I am looking for a useful email app for my note 2 running an aosp rom. I've tried going back to a tw rom but can't stand it.
What specifically I'm looking for is an email app that when you open an email with dates, times, years, days, etc., that those items be highlighted so that you can touch them, and have a menu come up for what you want to do. Such as, "create new event" "go to this date on your calendar" etc.
Even sammy comes up short because let's say you have an email that says football practice Wednesday the 25th of Sept at 5pm, at western stadium in Georgetown University. If you click on that date it goes automatically to the date, but you have to then go back and forth btw email and calendar to fill in the where, when, what etc.
This is a little easier using multi window on my note 2 and maybe with the note 3 there will be the ability to drag and drop from the top multi window to the bottom.
But for now I'm amazed no one has developed an app to do this easier. With our busy lives, I'd be willing to pay big $ relatively on the play store for that kind of app.
Please help if you've seen something like this or would like to develop one. I'm not much help but I'd love to try!
Thanks!
