Hello every one...
i was just wondering if someone can port a sense rom for the xperia U ? i think it would be awesome for sense lovers
can someone port a sense rom for it ?!!
Hey there Sayed.
A Sense ROM is going to be a hard one to achieve for our handheld devices to be honest mate.
For pretty much 2 reasons : 1) Sense ROMS are hardware dependant ( They do check if your device is a HTC or not)
and 2)Sense is a copyright'ed product, which means that the user who ported Sense to our devices will get a lawsuit for Copyright infringement.
But to be honest ,while i know everyone has his own tastes,i dont know whats so special about Sense,my gf's HTC Evo 3D has Sense and tbh,i hate it. Its more confusing ,more resource consumer and not exactly that pretty.
If you want a taste of sense on your phone, just download Sense Analog Clock widget and the Sense theme for Go Launcher EX.

You can port without copyright issues, because Android is open source.
Sense is ported to other non htc devices

There's already port of sense for galaxy nexus. It doesn't really works in 100%, but boots, so maybe those two are not really issues. Maybe someone hacked it to think that gnex.is HTC or something, but that's somehow possible to port sense.

helauncher.apk
google it, it'll give you sense dock and stock google app drawer.
u can wait for cm9 or cm10 and get htc theme for those , i have cm10 ( xperia ray ) and it looks like htc
its somehow being ported here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956936
but i think as our hardware is way too Different for other devices its really hard to port it,,

Hello there dear Andoid wizards.
Simple question. Is it possible/will it be possible/do you think it will be possible to port HTC Sense 3.0 to the Samsung Galaxy S II?
I'd like to know too. Not gonna lie, the new Sense looks amazing. They ported some form of Sense to the original SGS so I assume it will be possible. Don't think everything worked on those builds though.
No. I wish.
Due to CPU/GPU architecture and the closed source, 90% sure it won't be ported
Plus the problem of it been designed for a higher res screen will cause issues porting it
Higher res is not a problem. Running sense 3.0 on my desire hd. Thx to capy and his team

I dont se why sense 3.0 shod be problem to port to SGS2 . I'm running sense 3.0. It was made possible by the amazing work of Flemmard and Diamondback, who reverse engiineered the m10 format and built an encoder/decoder. The two of them also made the specific adjustments necessary to this particular ROM's applications. It was also a collaborative effort across the DHD and G2/DZ communities. I've been using sense 3.0 for almost a week now and it works like charm.

is it really because of the CPU/GPU? I really would like an Galaxy S II but I hate TouchWize and I love Sense (but HTC Sensation is inferior except for qHD resolution, build quality and of course Sense 3.0)
never say never, someone just needs to want it enough as is always the case, if a game can run on different CPU's then I am sure a UI can...
I think its only a matter of time as there is version of 2.3.3 with 3.0 look available for Desire HD and Z. To be honest I mostly want the widgets
Sense to be open-sourced
Hi Guys,
as you might already have caught, HTC is on a customer satisfaction rampage and announced to opensource Sense along with some other customizations yesterday!
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...h-scribe-tablet-pen-and-stereoscopic-3d-apis/
I think engadget did a scoop on it also.
With that Sense on SGS2 shouldnt be a problem right?
sense 3.0 can run on a lot of phones
sense 3.0 is a launcher with a bit of extra apps and framework,
now lets say we take all the apk's for the framework , apps and launcher and we install them on a samsung galaxy s2 then we have a probably pretty crappy version of sense 3.0 installed,
now we go to
lmgtfy.com/?q=htc+sense+3.0+rom+for+galaxy+s2
and we will find a good rom
reported working phones:
*galaxy s2
*galaxy
*desire A8181
*desire HD
*desire Z
*nexus one
thats the info i know

It just looks much better than vanilla Android. It is all about how it looks.
The unlocking screen, the clock widget with weather, weather widget, the way onscreen keyboard looks...
Do the Sense 3 phones (like HTC Sensation) support all the hardware acceleration and media codecs that we have in the TW framework?
I also like Sense but I don't want a Sense ROM if I have to sacrifice my smooth UI, Browser acceleration and media codecs.
I had an HTC Desire HD and it did not have browser acceleration and media codec support though the launcher interface was fast and polished.
its imposible i think

So, how can we have it? im dying to see Sense 3.0 on my S2
Or you could just customize it without any modding
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I simply do not see why people are so obsessed with HTC Sense, this is coming from someone who owned a HD2 running Android for a year and a half, any sense build i had on my phone never ran as smoothly as a non sense build that is the absolute fact i tested numerous different ROM's and each and every time the non sense builds were faster and smoother,it might look good but at what cost?

Thank You
I know some XDA devs tried before to port Sense on SGS without real success, but now that the Sensation is totally locked and that lot of HTC devs will get the SGS2 instead perhaps that the pros of Sense roms will port Sense 3.0 on SGS2...What do you think?
I would love sense 3.0 on sgs2 as well. Am pretty sure the hardware is fully capable
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
That would be great. The locked bootoader of the HTC Sensation will be one reason for me to switch to the Galaxy I9100. To keep the good Sense experience would be a nice gadget.
Cheers Lars
I posted this in another thread but.. I really like this idea. I know its hard but it works. If the milestone with it's locked bootloader can run sense 2.0 then SGSII definitely can. it just needs the right developers.
Because of the locked Bootloader I had to buy the SGS2 instead the Sensation, but I have to say, Touch Wiz is no Match for Sense. Missing it and would love to see that excellent Userexperiênce on the SGS2.

I'd like to see this too, just switched from a HTC Desire running sense 2.1/3.0 to a SGS2 and touchwiz is beaten hands down. The contacts and dialer app is the best I've come across on android, way better than stock/touchwiz/GoContacts
I was actually thinking about this question yesterday and was wondering if anybody made a thread about it yet... well I guess this answers my question of the day then.
If this gains enough interest im sure people will be willing to work on it. I have seen videos of sense 2.0 on a SGS and motorola milestone, so lets hope for the best

I would love to see this too! I miss sense bad! Touch wiz or any third party launcher can't compare in my eyes.
wonder if we can port this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044637&highlight=sense
#Many other phones have got sense 3.0 port.. is it more diffucult to port to non-htc phonrs?
Sense is the best android ui imho, i would definitely love to see it ported on my sgs2
I would love to have sense on my sgs2. I mean touch wiz is ok but sense is much nicer imo. I wouldn't be able to do anything to help, although I would, and I'm sure many others would, make a donation to any one willing. It wouldn't be much though I'm a poor student lol

ive just come from a hd2 with coredriod NAND sense rom....and I do miss sense!but the phone is the dogs...fancy widget for the weather and clock, looks identical to HTCs, sense would be good tho!
Partner has Desire S and it does have a lovely interface, but I actually like TouchWiz 5
New Touchwiz improved a lot but Sense is still much much better I think.. I hope someone ports this over..
Sense is build on Rosie UI and it's directly related to HTC hardwares, like if it searchs for an ''HTC signed'' screen or BT module.
Though like we always says in software world and more specially in Linux...nothing is impossible!
You need devs who can break the links between Rosie (damn junkie lady) and HTC hardware to replace them with samsung ones.
Also it would be easier to build Sense over a standar gingerbread rom than over Touchwiz
The Nexus S galaxysense dev says the galaxysense team is close to getting data working, meaning almost all hardware will work already, I hope we will see a sgs2 port soon too
hi guys
why devs cant port sense 3.0 to x10
is it impossibel or it is only for htc phone and not working on non htc phone
i hope can someone port it to our x10 it will be amazing
like see ..the framework of Htc phones are different and designed according to different hardware ..but ya there is a launcher which is pretty much the same as sense UI can check this link !!

Hope it helped ..
plz thank if it did!!

I believe HTC Sense requires quite a bit of OS integration. Maybe even more than what Sony Ericsson uses with their Rachael interface.
Also, HTC has claimed that Sense 3.0 has certain hardware specs (most likely available RAM) that had to be met. That was the reason why they didn't update Sense for older HTC hardware such as the Supersonic/EVO 4G (although XDA devs have already come up with custom ROMs for the EVO 4G that have Sense 3.0).
There should be 3rd-party launchers, home screens, lock screens, widgets, themes, etc. that can be used to simulate the look and feel of Sense 3.0 without having to create some kind of custom ROM image. Have you tried that route?
Can we port HTC Sense from HTC Wildfire S to the Xperia Active/Mini/MiniPro/Live?
i'll try making a port once i figure out my live if i can ofcourse cos i've always been a fan of htc sense
I created the HTC Sense theme for my Xperia Mini Pro similar to my previous project for X10mini:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821790
I can share my XMP HTC sense theme is anyone interested in
It is my understanding that Sense is incredibly difficult/next to impossible to port a fully functioning Sense system to any other brand of device - so best of luck
Your best bet, in my opinion, is to make an amalgamation of all of the best Sense themes around.
Also, Launcher Pro is very easily themed to look like Sense, there are even widget skins that look the part!
I see no one interested

I am interested if I can And I want to test your theme
ive seen one on Moto Defy
its a nice work
and its possile to put it in Xperias
but the Sence consumes the RAM...
I've always wondered, why hasn't the HTC sense Launcher (Rosie) ever been ported to other devices, from other companies, without means of a ROM port? After all, a vast majority of other launchers have been ported - Touchwiz, Xperia eDream, LG UI, Pantech UI... The list goes on really.
So why no love for Sense? I've never heard of any version of Sense ever being ported. Is the underlying framework stuff too complicated or something?
I'd just like some insight on the subject. Thanks in advance!

Bump.
Sent from my Nexus 4
Sense can be ported, but only to devices with similar hardware. You can't just port the launcher because it has many dependencies including the kernel. You pretty much have to port a whole sense ROM. Hope this answers your question.
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
The sense Launcher requires HTC frameworks and drivers to work completely. Some ports have been done but none work 100% due to needing the above.
That's a shame, why does HTC make it complicated but not virtually every other OEM?
Sent from my Nexus 4.
I saw that before , HTC sense is so complex ,, if U need it U w'll work very Hard then will get bad Result
Yeah its not like you can just port the launcher. Like with touchwiz. It is too wrapped up in the whole os.
Wayne Tech S-III
Anything 4.0 and below is worthless. Us Thunderbolt users are using other launchers just because of how heavy sense is. By the time everything is done loading in a sense rom with the Rosie Launcher the rom leaves us with just under 200MB of ram to toy with. That's on a 700+ (odd number of ram) device...

Its completely intentional. HTC exists to sell phones. Their Sense features (like other manufacturer proprietary "skins") are part of what distinguish their products from the competition. They don't benefit from having their software run on another manufacturer's devices.
You see a similar philosophy with Samsung, and even more so. Sammy is less imaginative with their hardware design than HTC; but tends to rely on more innovative and unique software features to sell their devices. Because of that, they protect those features by making them difficult to port to other devices.
