Hi to all...
I own an S3 and my gf owns an S2...
I'm modding her phone for her because it lags like hell...
Anyone care to share their config so i can try this?
There are countless roms here plus the fact that i never owned the s2 makes it very confusing, that's why i'm asking for help.
Thanks anyone!

1. What's the real problem with the phone?
2. Is the phone rooted?
3. Post the Rom & kernel details; Goto Settings - About phone, and post everything you see
4. What kind of help do you really want?
5. Don't even bother to ask for best ROM / kernel / modem etc, it's against the rules.

1.It lags/has bad performance..
In apps it's ok but inside the launcher it stutters quite a bit...(nova launcher latest)
2.Yes
3.RootBox rom,dorimaX kernel.
4./5. A good rom/kernel config that will make this phone run smooth, not the best rom your(plural) own config that makes you happy.
Back on the S1 days that was easy but now i've tried quite a few roms/kernels(don't remember names) but the phone doesn't perform well enough to keep the rom...
So far the best one is the one i have installed right now and the best kernel would be dorimaX or Siyah.
P.S. i'm no noob.you can talk to me like any other experienced member,i'll understand.

Some few more questions:
1
a. Did restore system apps + data in titanium backup?
b. Did you restore user apps + data in titanium backup?
2.
- please post your full ROM and kernel details. I have you the steps to follow in my previous post. So please post everything. You may post the screenshot to save time.
3.
Can you please list all the steps you took while flashing the Rom? If possible, state your previous ROM before flashing Rootbox.

1.b But the apps were from previous version of the same rom though,i doubt those are the root of the problem.
2.I cannot do that right now because i only have my s3 with me,not her phone.Sorry.
This is the kernel in use, latest version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219
And this is the rom, also the latest version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696419
3.I don't remember the previous rom but it was a stock-based one.
Coming from Rootbox 1.7:
1)wiped system,cache,dalvik cache.
2)Flashed rom
3)Flashed kernel
And then i rebooted.
1. About lag in latest Nova launcher
a. Backup Settings of Nova launcher, then clear data of Nova launcher in settings
b. Try another launcher. Apex launcher or Holo launcher HD are good examples
2. Uninstall apps you don't need / use
3. Use Dorimanx kernel 5.82 (latest stable) or Siyah kernel 4.15.
- Use default settings in Extweaks (default settings is always the best)
- If you are not satisfied with default, then change the profile to performance or visit this thread on how you can tweak the cpu governor.
Here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817 and Here: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24233085&postcount=2
4. If you are sticking with Dorimanx kernel, then under Misc run,
- Zipalign script
- Optimize database script
5. Boot to recovery,
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache
- reboot phone.
You will definitely notice the difference in performance

OK, i´m a new "flasher" and i have a Question.
I got my new SGS2 and i flashed it with the "Batista70 FOXHOUND EDITION 2.2"
All works fine! Now the Version 2.4 is out and i wanna flash this new Version. I spent a lot of Time to load my apps and configure the Apps, Launcher, make my Homescreen how i like........ - this new Version 2.4 is a "WIPE" Version, so all my Apps and on and on are gone after the Wipe. Thats right? Is there a possibility (maybe with an App) to save all this Things and bring it back after the Flash?
In short-form: i want to flash the new Rom and keep all other things, respectively bring it easy back
thanks a lot

You can´t, it´s a job for a moderator (now it´s when he appears flying using his underwear over his pants and save the day).
The thing is, usually when you install a new version of the same ROM, no wipe is needed, but I am not sure about Batista´s. Try backing up using Titanium Backup, then install the ROM without wiping. If everything works after that, cool. If not, boot into cwm, wipe, clear cache, reboot, then restore your backup.
Big Thanks!!
I think i try it in this way
Titanium Backup saves all my things - is this right? Do i need the normal Version or the Pro?
The normal version will do for basic stuff. Make sure you also back up your contacts (google), sms-es (sms backup and restore app), call logs (whatever app) and do a general NAND backup from recovery mod.
firstly get yourself TB premium..Trust me its worth getting...back your apps up. then flash new foxhound version and then restore your apps through TB and you should have things the way you did..especially if you are using go launcher or launcher pro you should be fine
I made my Backup
SMS
Google Contacts
Call Logs doesn´t matter
Download new Batista 2.4
make now my NAND backup.....
and let´s start i hope all gets fine
Thanks for all your help....
@Matriak31 - i use the "go launcher"

Good morning!
Im aiming for maxium stability and battery duration without laggness. + finnish dictionary required (Bluetooth+mobile data 24/7 ON)
So here are the questions:
1) Im currently getting 1-2 random boots / 1 week, any idea whats causing this?
2) can i remove apps from XWKK5_CheckromRevoHD_V4.zip\system\app before installation? for example swype, looks like its quite big(28mb). will my finnish dictionary be missing if i remove the swype.apk?
3) Sometimes (about every 5th) after calls, my dialer is messed up. The screen where i can do Recall, videocall or send message right after phone call is ended.
Any idea whats causing this one?
4) Is there any mods/ kernels /better roms that might fit me well/better in my situtation?
Currently running:
Rom: Checkrom RevoHD v4
Kernel: speedmod #k2-18
Modem: KL1
Theme: ICS Domination 1.72
Antutu benchmark 5960 (wich is enough), so no need for overclocking
p.s. sorry for my bad enlish skillz

1. Possibly to much under volt. try increase slightly voltage to CPU or try different kernel.
2. You can remove apps anytime, before of after flash. Titanium backup is easiest aster flash, or use root explorer (or similar root file explorer) to navigate to system apps and delete, reboot after. Not sure about the dictionary.
3. Maybe reflash the dialer, can download from kitchen pro app, or even clear the dialer cache. Whenever I change a system app, I also clear cache and dalvik in CWM recovery.
4. I am currently using the Dark Knight kernel with smartassV2 governor at 100-1200 using SetCPU. If you get random reboot, also try minimum at 200. Maybe yet a different kernel / governor combo.

this one of the most stable roms i have used. so is the SpeedMod kernel. w/o undervolting and overclocking.
the question now is when did you flash this rom you came from which one?
did you wipe before flashing?
did you use titanium backup to restore your apps?
all does matter.
you can remove awype from system/app by using any root explorer app.
if you are not using swype it means you are not using its dictionaries so your dictionary from samsung keyboard will not be removed although i am not 100% on that.
i am using wanamlite 6.7 with Siyah 2.6.7 and i have no reboots. but i do not think i have Finnish dictionary in this rom. nat that i need it. i am Greek.
but you can ask Wanam if he can make a flashable zip for you.

Koita muita kerneleitä kuten shiyah, tuo numero kolme saattaa johtua tuosta ics-teemasta
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Hello everyone,
I've been using normal andriod with touchwiz for about a year now and Im really in the mood for something new. I've been reading up on ics but was dissapointed to hear that the ui hardly changes due to touchwiz.
So I've been reading up on ROMS and the whole development thing and i'm now contemplating trying to install one. From a lot of reactions it sounds really exciting though I also read that a lot can go wrong.
So I've been thinking about ressurection remix and have been watching those movies at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
I have a few questions about it, perhaps someone who installed it can explain.
First question, there is a guide to install a rom and a guide to install a kernel, but in the movie the guy says that the rom comes with the kernel preinstalled. So why is there a guide for the kernel then? Do i need to install a seperate kernel at the end for the ultimate experience or can i just ignore that part?
I can save my apps with titanium backup right? Does it save all the settings in apps too or only the apps themselves?
Any other tips/advice for a beginner or should i just try the guide on that site and see if me and my phone survives?
Thanks in advance.
If the kernel come preinstalled you needn't worry about flashing another kernel, but I'd recommend checking out a few different kernels to see which one suites your needs.
Titanium backup backs up the app and the apps data.
Extra advice: make a full backup with CWM!
If you're not happy with that ROM, check out MIUI, it has plenty of themes, including ICS.

Ok guys I want very solid but the problem I have is that the explenation im trying to carefully follow on here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
.. is for 9.7. Now I was planning to follow that step by step and there is a 9.6 file to download but is there a explenation for that too? for example i dont see gaps for remix and gapsfixer (or i dont need that for this 9.6?) anything else thats different for this installation?
Final question this 1.0 version you speak of is it worth just waiting for that or will that take too long (or might the difference be too small?).
Hi,
I've been using V9.7 for a week and everything works for me.
If i remember : yes you need a "gapps.zip" and a "gappsfixer.zip" for V9.6.
You've to follow the same setps (as for V9.7) :
- install V9.6 Remix
- install gapps
- install gappsfixer
- dalvik cache
- and then reboot
V1.0 is gonna be based on the official ics. So its def something to get when it comes out.
He has said its gonna take 7-10 days though
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
And i believe the gaps are the same for every rom.

http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2/
And it installs the zerglings it seems but after reboot i do not get a superuser.
The post you follow says : if "not" retry again step 10...so you have to do it again...

after installing the 3 files above in that order .. isnt it
- wipe cache
- enter "advanced" on menu .. then
- wipe dalvik cache
- fix permissions
I've noticed they omitted the fix permissions part on 9.7?? but I still did it
Also I agree v9.6 is more stable without the display errors of white on white and black on black text, plus you can install LPJ kernel on v9.6 (i'd try Siyah's not the one on westcrip's rom page)
I'm using Siyah without any problems.. no fc's
I think if you install Siyah's after you've freshly installed 9.6 may have something to do with it not causing fc's .. don't know why tho?..

Hey guys, I just rooted and flashed the Jelly Beans Build 2 ROM on my GS4. I noticed the new features like the Wifi and hotspot toggles but then as soon as I backed up my apps using titanium back up, they disappeared. Also, I noticed ALOT of bloat was still on the device although I was told that there's supposed to be little to no bloat on the ROM. Lastly, I've been hearing superb things about the battery life but my battery life isn't as good as when the phone was stock. Did something go wrong when I flashed this rom? I also flashed faux kernel with it. I'm thinking that the backup messed up certain things in the ROM and also backed up my bloat from my stock ROM. Could this be true? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you factory wipe your phone before installing? I usually do it 3 times before installing a ROM.
Also, did you restore TiBu apps AND system apps? Backing-up your apps [with TiBu] should have no affect on how your system works, at all. It does nothing to change your system (think of it as reading-only).
I use KT's kernel using the recommended settings and I get about 5-6 hours non-wifi OST with this ROM. And about 1.5-2 days of use.
Reflash and retry. Or try a different ROM and/or kernel.

You have to do a full factory wipe, not just cache and dalvik, before installing a new ROM. No need to back up system data, unless you are certainly restoring to the same ROM; restoring system data only leads to problems.

You can flash some custom kernel for better performance , apps like grenify, lag fix, titanium backup (can save all S apps+data), alsoo with titanium you can freeze apps which you don't use..

Greenify and Startup Manager plus Better Battery Stats to check .
Of course with a rooted phone you can debloat yourself either via file explorer or Titanium
As said read the basics first otherwise you are wasting your time and will end up on the i brickedmyphonehelpnoIMEI lifeboat .

There are different settings for CPU kernel . generally I'm using pegasusq governor , max_CPU = 1200 MHz .
Entropy generator = on (this will reduce lag from device )
Voltage control is present but for that you'll need a custom kernel like siyaah , you won't need voltage control as it mainly corresponds with heating up of device.. Plus there are lot of tweaks like bravia engine, open VPN support . a single post of mine won't cover or do justice to the app , its stuffed with lot of good ...like really stuffed..
Also if u open that app there's an option to create a 'rescue package' in case something goes wrong you can restore it .
