So my Prime is completely stock from an OS standpoint. Not rooted, just a handful of apps. I got the JB firmware notification this morning and I went ahead and kicked it off. Things seemed fine and the android with the blue progress bar popped up after a reboot. I left it alone and when I came back it was sitting on the ASUS boot screen. It has been on that boot screen ever since. I let it sit that way for over an hour and finally tried to power it off. I can power it off but it automatically tries to restart and gets stuck on the ASUS screen again. Tried holding the volume button down during power cycle and no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Try the following and see if it helps.
Hold volume down and power button and when the text appears in top left just wait 5 seconds. When the icons appear on your screen use volume down to go to the wipe icon then press volume up.
Not guaranteeing this will work but it has for others.
If still broken come back and post.
I have a unlocked TF201 and managed to install cyanogen mod 10 on it. Then one fine day, it encountered the "turning on wifi" error, and I tried to be clever and did a format /data on CWM.
Now I have a TF201 which can enter CWM (but can't install anything because it can't read SD card) and can get into Fastboot (since it's unlocked), but can't seem to be detected when i run fastboot from my win-pc.
Can anyone help? I tried installing various of the ADB fastboot drivers, in particular the universal naked driver from another thread, but still can't seem to work!
Can help? Pls?

adb and fastboot are different things.
adb you will be able to use while in CWM and fastboot you can use while in fastboot.
You need to be able to push a rom onto your device thru adb while in cwm.
There could be a few things wrong. It could be a faulty cable or it could be that your usb ports on the computer don't like it.
Have you tried using usb ports on the back of your computer and seeing if anything shows up in device manager when you are in cwm?
If not can you try it on another computers usb ports and see if anything shows up in device manager when you are in cwm?
Please come back with a bit more information when you have tried this. Once you can see the device in device manager you should be able to install the naked drivers and I can help you from there.
edit.. can you please also tell me what happens when you just try to let it boot.. where does it get stuck, what is on the screen?

Thanks for the response. vol down and power don't do me any good. It won't let me into the stock recovery mode. I've been down that road before and entered it successfully so I'm pretty certain I'm doing it right. It just loops me back to the ASUS screen.
Thanks again.

The only way to do it is to have it powered off. Then hold the volume down button first and while holding it start holding power button also.. Then don't let go of both buttons until it appears.
If that don't work I'm not sure what you have done sorry mate.

I guess I'm looking at an RMA then because it is powered off when I do the vol down + power. Still only get the splash screen. I wouldn't be upset if I was trying to load a custom ROM or something but all I did was let the blasted thing try to install the OTA. Oh well, thanks again for your time.

I think there must be some serious issues with TF201 and JB. I have got into exactly the same position by trying to use Protato's method to update to WW JB - and so have at least 3 others. But if the genuine update is doing this too!!
I'm going to request RMA. My tablet has gone to hell and this is just the seal of approval. Have a feeling I'm Infinity bound now. Good luck to all.
I am definitely going to have to RMA at this point. 3rd for me. Mine started off with the wonderful Serial Number unknown and was then suffering from pretty bad wifi/bluetooth fallout. ASUS has made good by me on both cases so far and I felt pretty good about my Prime but I must say I'm a bit disappointed that I need a 3rd RMA. I'll be happy overall if they get it back to me in good working order in a timely fashion.

HELP ME. Flashed CwmFolio_v02_update.zip from one of the tread from this forum. I think most of you know which one.
After clicking reboot system in the menu in clockwork.. the tablet just stalled..
black screen. nothing.
BUT, the home, back, search, and menu button still works.
power button not working.. long press and still nothing.
power light still up.
connected to pc through mini usb. not detected.
the only solution i could think of now is to wait for the battery to dry out, which could take forever as the battery was still 79% the last time i saw it.
is it possible for me to take out the battery?.. like i normally does when my laptop stuck??
Help me please..
You can unlock the back on the left side and remove the back cover. Then you can also remove the battery.

if there any step by step instruction on how to do that?.. or maybe just any tips about what i should be careful with when removing the battery?
1. Slide the lock to the unlock position on the left side (when facing the device)
2. Open the back by using the little gap on the top left side of the device (it might sound like its breaking, but its not..)
3. Then pull out the battery by using the handle for it
Its relatively straight forward Not much you can mess up if your careful.

Thank YOu soo much!.
i think the problem is with clockworkmod. i installed a version using rom manager. before that already flashed a modded version from this forum. the last time i installed another modded one with support for internal sd.. also from this forum.. maybe any one of that caused the problem.. anyway.. removing the battery and reinserting it seems to do the job. Thanks again!

DerAartem technique works with version FolioMod 1.3
It changes the boot
If your boot is corrupted, you still have a black screen
You can change the boot.img with fastboot command
Code:
fastboot erase linux
fastboot flash linux boot.img
fastboot reboot
I've had this thing for a good month or two and its ran like a champ. Never had issues really. Never Rooted, its basically stock and its been nothing but great to me.
This brings me to this evening. I decided to record my 2 year old dance and really havnt used the camcorder before. Gave it a go, recorded him, and as soon as I hit the STOP button on the camcorder, the tablet basically froze on me. Couldn't do **** for whatever reason.
So I figured ok, I'll shutdown by holding the power button. As soon as I fired it back up, I get a Encryption Unsuccessful message. It basically tells me my data is corrupt, can't be restored unless I do a factory reset. It gives me a button to reset and I push it.
It basically reboots and comes back to the same dam screen. I have no idea what the hell to do. I'm so screwed....
press and hold volume down and power. When the tablet reboots, keep holding both buttons until you see writing in upper left corner of boot screen, let go of buttons. Now press volume down and it should bring you to a menu with some options. Press volume down( I believe) to select factory reset/wipe date, then press volume up to select it.
If this doesn't work, and your boot loader is still locked, try to manually update the tablet(put factory Asus update on external SD). If that don't work, you may be screwed.
Its fixable with an unlocked boot loader.
I can try to help you. But first, lets document some things.
Where you on the latest version of ICS? (.15)
What were you doing when this happened: Already stated that
Do you have an SD card in your Prime:
Also, let's accept right now your data is lost, and is most likely not recoverable. Basically, this screwed up the /data and /sdcard folder. If you RMA the Prime, you will most likely get a new device, as it is not bricked, but beyond software fixing it. Someone please tell me I'm wrong, but I have gotten this before, I had no way of recovering, and had to get a new Galaxy Nexus.
But try these steps:
Turn the Prime off. Hold down both the Power and Volume Down.
Once you see text in the top cornor of the screen, press volume down.
Select Factory Data Rest, and hit the Volume Up confirm the change.
Let me know if that works.
Good luck!
I was still on the .13 build. I dont have an SD card either. Like I said, this **** happened outta nowhere and I'm dumbfounded right now.
Please tell me I don't have to F'in factory reset and wipe? UGH!

Losing all your data right now, unfortunately, is the least of your worries. This is also something that needs to be reported to ASUS ASAP.
If you are getting to a screen, you are most definitely NOT bricked. If you see a light on, if you plug it on and the light comes on...you are not bricked.
Try the steps mentioned to get you into the menu where you manually select the options.
Good luck

I know what you mean..lol hate having to set everything up again. but its needed though to bring back your tablet. once it gets back to normal I'd suggest updating to latest update .15. has most of old bugs fixed and more stable. plus you might get an updated camera firmware also.
good luck n post back how things went.

try plugging your prime up to t.v. through HDMI connection. see if prime might actually still be on but the screen is off. if you can see prime screen then if it lets you, try a factory reset that way by going into settings then backup/factory reset.

that was when your prime was on and you could see the screen. could be possible the reboots stopped but now the screen doesn't want to come on..worth a shot.
No matter what screen your prime is on, whether the prime is turned off or on, press and hold volume down and power. What does that do? Keep holding it until something happens.
Tried the HDMI cable, nothing came up either.
When I hold down volume and power, it vibrates after about 8-10 seconds. Then nothing. I havn't held it down much longer than that.
tried holding it down for a minute after that...still black screen.
How does a friggin tablet BRICK itself, STOCK? Please enlighten me!
Guess I'll leave it on the charger all night just for hells sake
I've seen this situation here before. your best bet might be to keep doing what you doing to make it vibrate and drain the battery somehow. once its dead or doesn't vibrate anymore, let it charge up till the led light is green at full capacity. then try cutting it on. that has worked for a few members who seemed tl have same issue as you.
The led light doesn't come on tho at all when plugged in. Should it? Or only when it's fully charged?
it should at least be on and be a red color to indicate it's charging. a green color to indicate its fully charged.
is it still vibrating when you attempt to put it in recovery mode? if not then the power might be drained already. sometimes when battery is really dead, indicator light will not cut on until it has a decent enough charge. like some people who received their prime couldn't get it to cut on even plugged up. their battery was that dead and needed to charge for a while before it finally cut on.
constantly rebooting tablet does drain battery. maybe you already drained it, especially if it no longer vibrates anymore.
Naw it still vibrates just no led indication whatsoever. Holding down the power button only makes it vibrate and that's it, no display. I coulda swore I had like 50 percent right before I used my camcorder...weird.
I'll let it sit on a charge for a bit and see what happens. If I get this fired up I need to decide on rmaing it or not. Argh.
Thanks for the help....and to all...

no problem. it might be best just to RMA it anyways. so you won't have to deal with the risk of this happening again. plus chances are good they will send a replacement unit if they can't fix it. good luck!

No big deal, you were just out of battery and your charger is not working. Put you charger in a freezer for 2 hours and recharge your ATP 2 hours with It. problem will be solved after that.
Today i decided to try out the nocturnal rom, but before that i had to make a backup. at the the time the phone was what i would a call luke warm so i paid no mind to it. so a few minutes later i look back at the phone and notice that the screen turned off annd the phone was now averagely hot
so i let it cool down for a bit (i thought that the phone must have shut itself off in order to make sure the internals wouldn't be damaged), then when i try to turn it on the lg logo does show up but never gets to the base roms nexus boot animation, now i'm thinking that TWRP must have drained my battery because when i usually make a backup my battery can go from 94% to 50% in a span of 7 minutes (only during backup). So i leave it to charge for 30 minutes 1 hour and then 5 hours but each time i check it still won't turn on correctly.
Now i have had this happen to me before, when i had the atrix 4g this happened and i had to buy a battery only charger to even get it to work again
but as we all know that won't work for the optimus g because you cannot take out the battery.
so i have to ask, what should i do? is there any way to fix this?
Side note: can't get into recovery (seems to shut off before it loads up, its like an infinite loop of dying and turning on again) the power button still glows while its connected giving the appearance of charging but it still never boots up all the way ( the most i can get it to is the part of recovery before going into TWRP. you know holding vol+ and seeing fastboot mode)
There is thread here someone made of disassembly. You can do a battery pull pretty easily. Never know might help.
Have you tried download mode at all BTW?
Sounds more like something was deleted then a batter problem to me. If download mode works you could try lgnpst back to stock.
The information in THIS thread might be able to help.
I can't vouch for it because I haven't experienced these problems, but the OP there seemed to get his problem fixed.
GL.
Although, looking things over, sounds like you have a different issue.
So you can get to the bootloader?
from the bootloader have you tried hitting the volume down key twice then hitting power?
That should reboot you into recovery, where you can restore something or flash stock.
Edit. Quote from FreeGee post.
To enter bootloader, hold volume UP and power.
Upon entering the bootloader, you will notice that there is no 'menu' to enter fastboot or recovery. Unfortunately, since the stars didn't align properly, we were unable to tell the new bootloader where to load the images that contain the menu from.
In light of that, you'll have to navigate the menu blind. Use the volume keys to change selection, and the power key to select.
The choices are (in order of pressing volume down):
Start - boot the phone normally [already selected]
Restart Bootloader - reboot into the bootloader
Recovery Mode - enter recovery (CWM)
Power Off - powers the phone off
So, to get to Recovery, you would press volume down twice then power.

also i have no idea what download mode is but since nothing seems to be working i will assume that does not work either

Amazon is actually VERY easy to deal with, and a HELL of a lot easier than AT&T. They'll ship you out a replacement, you send the old one back once you receive the new one. Done. You MAY have to send the old one first, but if you let them put a hold on a credit card, I believe they'll definitely ship first.
You may be able to fix this by holding down both the volume down and power buttons for at least 45 seconds after you plug in the phone.
so
STEP 1: PLUG IN PHONE
STEP 2: PRESS AND HOLD THE VOLUME DOWN AND POWER KEYS TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 45 SECONDS
STEP 3: LEAVE PLUGGED IN FOR TEN MINUTES
STEP 4; BOOT INTO RECOVERY MODE, WIPE BATTERY STATS, WIPE CACHE, AND WIPE DALVIK, THEN REBOOT TO SYSTEM FROM WITHIN RECOVERY.
LAST PART IS TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.
I've gone the three of these for various reasons and some times lgnpst pretends to work and you need to do it again. And some times you need to wipe data boot back into download and do it again. This phone is retarded.
bought my OG lightly used on ebay, arrived running ICS
after rooting and playing with it a little I decided to update to JB so I did a software update
at/near the end of the update (don't know if it got to finish) my phone just turned off and won't turn back on
the battery isn't dead and no combination of volume keys plus power button will get it back, nor will holding the power button for an extended period or plugging it in
what should I do? I'm kind of disappointed that a simple upgrade will so readily do this

what should I do? I'm kind of disappointed that a simple upgrade will so readily do this

If you plug into PC while holding both volumes and power button, you will hopefully get a screen that says download mode. If so you can use lgnpst program to restore phone. You can get lgnpst from irc channel.

bought my OG lightly used on ebay, arrived running ICS
after rooting and playing with it a little I decided to update to JB so I did a software update

I think the post above should fix this. Maybe your trying it wrong. I had a soft brick, i believe its simular to what you have. Does your phone boot up, stay at the boot screen, then reboot and back to the boot screen?
You have to get the timing correct. Be precise. Make sure phone is off. Hold the power+volume up+volume down until you see the Download Mode screen. I dont see why it wont work unless your doing it wrong.. Keep trying. When it gets in download mode just open LGNPST, and get correct files (im assuming you have them?) and boom.

the screen is completely blank no matter what I do
anyway, I fixed the problem by arranging a return for a full refund
I don't feel it is right for you to receive a refund when phone was in working order before you rooted it. If you had purchased it new and not from an individual, it would be acceptable.

the phone was working fine after I rooted it, the OTA update is what killed it
I have no way of knowing if rooting it beforehand had anything to do with it
I also didn't buy it from an individual but a wholesale company on eBay

You shouldn't try to OTA update on a rooted phone. The only thing that can come out of that is trouble. You should've LGNPST to 20j then rooted it. Your very lucky your getting a refund for a user mistake.

Hit "wipe data" now TF201 not recognized by computer and stuck on asus splash screen
Hey y'all.
My father was messing around with his TF201 and decided to hit "wipe all data" while in recovery mode and it has been bricked ever since. All I know is that he had rooted it and unlocked the bootloader. Apparently he didn't want to fess up to bricking his present and now he doesn't remember what else he had done to it or what exactly he did to brick it. Normally I would keep my nose out of this, but he told me I could sell it if I got it back in working order, and I have had such issues with fixing it that this has become a personal challenge.
I can't get the tablet to turn off and it only boots as far as the Asus splash screen with "this device is unlocked" in the upper left corner and the nvidia logo in the bottom right corner. Whenever I try to power down the tablet it re-boots as far as the splash screen. My computer isn't recognizing it, adb isn't recognizing it when I enter adb devices, and I cant get the tablet to turn off or go into fastboot. I tried updating the drivers on my computer, letting the battery die and recharge a few times, and using the reset button, all with no change.
Unfortunately, I think I am a little out of my depth here. I was hoping I would be able to push a new rom on it via adb and hopefully un-do whatever he did, but it looks like I was incorrect.
If anyone has tips on how to enter fastboot, how to get adb to recognize the device, or how to get the tablet back to factory I would be crazy appreciative! I have gone through most of the similar threads, but none of their fixes seem to be working for me.
Thanks!

When I have tried it goes right back to the Asus splash screen.
I think part of the issue with getting into fastboot is that I can't seem to convince the tablet to turn all the way off. As soon as it turns off it restarts and boots right back to the splash screen. I was hoping letting the battery die would kick it out of this loop but it doesn't seem to have worked. I had a similar problem with my Galaxy SIII and pulling the battery out helped, but I don't know how to get to the battery on the TF201.

The VOL DOWN & POWER are how you get to fastboot.....
WIth no fastboot & no adb & no nvflash blobs
There is nothing that can be done short of replacing the motherboard ....
Sorry for the bad news
Thx Josh

Ugh, that's kind of what I was afraid of. So much for some (almost) easy money.
Thanks for the help!
