Can You Please Help Me On My Samsung GS2 Problem? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need to flash a modem to my Samsung Galaxy S2. The history of the problem is on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841440&page=4.
Karpfenhai gave a solution and I quote:
Karpfenhai said:
If you are not yet rooted, you need Odin to flash the modem.bin.
You can also instal an update.zip via default system recovery, but it may be hard to find a compatible zip for that.
To stop your confusion, Odin 1.84 plus Samsung kies (for the drivers) are your best attempt to get the phone working again.
Read read and read to learn how to do so.

I would say you simply need to flash a new modem to your device.
You can do this by Odin too, no root needed, no custom ROM or kernel.
Have a look onto the galaxy s2 shipped modem collection thread. --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131950
I recommend kh3 or ki4 modem.
Good luck!
PS: missing IMEI is just a side effect of the missing modem, don't worry it will come back.

The problem is I can't find Odin 1.84. Can I use Odin 1.85 instead?
Also KH3 and KI4 no longer exist, can't download them.
Can you please give me a better alternative to flash a modem to my Samsung Galaxy S2 to make it working again.
I will be very thankful to you. Please help me. Thank you so much.

first and foremost u have to learn on XDA is to fallow the rules ma8
since creating multiple threads for the same reason/issue is against XDA rule, and if the same is reported to the moderators, u will be infracted for sure
so bare this in mind and do not do the mistake in the future
now coming back to ur query, Yes u can use 'ODIN 1.85' instead of 1.84

2. In Odin click on the (phone) button.
3. When explorer appears navigate to "modem.bin" and select it.
4. The "modem.bin" directory should now show up in the dialogue box next to "phone"
5. On your phone. Turn it of and reboot into download mode ( vol - , home button, power button)
6. Connect phone to PC.
7. Make sure Odin recognises phone. ( yellow rectangle box in top left corner)
8. Press the "Start" button.

[Q] [Help] Samsung S2 - dont want custom rom - want to go back to stock

Hi guys,
Im having a difficult time finding out how i can get back to the nordic official samsung rom.
I have no idea what i should flash and if i need Odin or just use recovery..
So if there is a kind soul out there that can point me to the correct files, and explain it step by step, i will be forever gratefull!
Yes, I know there are some guides, and i have tried reading them.. But I dont want to **** this up, as I need the phone tomorrow for work :/
So, please, if you can help me, i will be very gratefull
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S2
Country: Norway
Check the model under the battery.
Go to sammobile.com and get your ROM for your region.
Or use checkfus downloader and get the ROM for Norway.
Also mind you, You can flash any region ROM for i9100 in your phone.

Ok i now have the rom from Sammobile and Odin with a Pit file.
I must then go to download mode on phone, and what settings should i have when i now flash?
Should i use the PIT file?
The guide from sammobile was just a repair guide, didnt help me at all..
I have I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXXLPD_NEE.zip.
I have Odin.
What now?
Whatever you do, don't use the PIT file.

Ok..
But what do i need to do then?
I have the I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXXLPD_NEE.zip (should i extract it?).
And Odin ready.
Do I need more files?
Follow the flashing guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Chris.
No don't use pit, don't know how you get that.
Just extract the zip file you will get tar.md5, put it in pda under Odin.
Also the file you got is ics, just to let you know, if that matters.
So this is how i understand it after reading alot.
1. Unzip the I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXXLPD_NEE.zip
2. Open Odin 1.83
3. Choose the unzipped file I9100XXLPQ_I9100OXXLPD_I9100XXLPQ_HOME.tar.md5 as PDA.
4. Flash without ticking ANY of the options in Odin.
5. Sucess??
Can someone PLEASE confirm?
Already linked above the guide

Please anyone answer,
I downloaded I9100XWKJ2_I9100XEFKJ1_XEF.zip from sammobile, can you tell me how can I use it with Odin ?
Do I use this file for PDA, PHONE or CSC ?
Also what's the pit file ? When downloading Odin from sammobile, I have a s1_odin_20100512.pit, is it the right one ?
Thanks in advance !
this is en example use ur own file. (Proceed at your own risk. We are not liable if anything happens to your device by using this method. )
Step by Step Instructions:
Download the Android Firmware
Extract the downloaded file ‘I9100XXKL1_I9100OXAKL1.rar’ to get these 3 files:
CODE_I9100XXKL1_CL783870_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5
GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKL1.tar.md5
MODEM_I9100XXKL1_REV_02_CL1085162.tar.md5
Download Odin software
Disconnect your phone if it’s connected to PC. Switch Off your phone. Wait for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
Now, put the Galaxy S2 in Download Mode — press and hold these keys together: Volume_DOWN+Home+Power.
this is required to install the XXKG1 using Odin PC Software.
Open Odin (from step 3) — Odin3 v1.85.exe.
Connect your phone to PC now. You should get the message “Added! !”
under the Odin’s message box in the bottom left. If you don’t get this message,
than probably there is a problem with drivers. Make sure you’ve drivers installed.
Important! On Odin, Do NOT tick the ‘Re-Partition’ checkbox, but keep the ‘Auto Reboot’ & ‘F.
Reset Time’ checkboxes ticked. Do not touch any other checkbox or tab or anything, except as required in step 9 below.
Select these files in Odin at respective tabs (check out the screenshot given at the top for help):
Click the PDA Tab, and select CODE_I9100XXKL1_CL783870_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5 (from step 2.1)
Click the Phone Tab, and select MODEM_I9100XXKL1_REV_02_CL1085162.tar.md5 (from step 2.3)
Click the CSC Tab, and select GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKL1.tar.md5 (from step 2.2)
Now, hit the START button to let the process begin.
When process at Odin finishes your phone will automatically reboot —
and you can unplug the cable then.
Plus, you’ll get a PASS (with green background) message in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin.
If it’s red and with FAIL written over it, the process flashing process wasn’t successful.

I'm guessing you went ahead and just tried flashing using that .pit file?
You should never use a firmware or kernel for a different device, but it is sometimes recoverable.
For future reference, NEVER EVER EVER use a .pit file for a different device...

[Q] Quick and simple: clean Stable ICS rom with arabic sms reading ability

Hello,
I know what I am looking for is here somewhere and I've been searching for a few hours now
What I need is very simple:
Just a clean stable ICS for galaxy s2 that supports arabic (just for reading on browser and sms)
Or if there is a way to make my phone software updateable via KIES.
My S2 version(from settings-> about phone):
Model number: GT-I9100
Android: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9100XWKE1
kernel: 2.6.35.7-i9100XWKE2-CL187606 [email protected] #2
build : GINGERBREAD.XWKE2
Thanks in advance and sorry if it's a replicated thread I've been searching for hours now
Dial *#1234#
And repost the informatipn.
Also download checkfus,
http://fus.nanzen.se/
Put the information in to check fus and it will tell you your latest firmware. You can also download it from the program too.
PS.. You are breaking XDA forum rules by asking for the best rom for you. All i have done is point you to your latest firmware for your region.
Custom firmware is just that,"custom. Its up to you to try each one till you find one you like. Its not up to us to tell which one is for you".

All ics ROM supports rtl by default.
To write you need keyboard that supports Arabic, like new Swype beta.

Thanks, I downloaded odin + the second link in your post, this is a firmware right?
so what I do next is just follow the guide below(from the url you kindly provided), is that right?
Code:
Flashing Firmware with Odin
1. Down the desired firmware version and unzip it
2. Reboot your phone to download mode.
To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin
4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar or .tar.md5 file that you extracted in step 1
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Should look like this screenshot
Regardless of firmware version it's still the same methodology
6. Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:COM section to turn yellow
7. Click start to flash
8. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device, it will reboot when it finishes.
9. You will lose root so just re-root with the guide below

Is just what it is. The ICS bootloader. But you can happily exchange it for the old gb bootloader to reset the flash counter using the USB jig.

By Intratech - 18/04/2012
Follow that guide and you should be ok. Good luck.

"Odin Downloader has stopped working"

Only one button, "Close program" is available to me. What do I do?
Further info:
I followed the steps in this post to the letter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969 (which I also verified using a video on youtube)
The Odin window is fuzzy white but I can see it got to the stage Check MDF /// Please wait
I was in the process of flashing stock firmware taken from Intratech's androidfirmware.net site.
The phone is brand new, I was flashing back to stock from AOKP because of an issue with the phone calls not sending or receiving any sound
EDIT: After 5 minutes, I faced my fate and clicked it. I tried again with Odin v1.85 to no avail. The program also crashed 2 seconds into the process. Have I bricked my brand new phone? :crying:
Odin downloads nothing its an installer .
One stop Kies running via Task Manager
Two connect with Samsung USB cable to a mainboard port only .
Three i suggest you download a new copy of the firmware and also of Odin just in case .
Four start again following instructions as posted here .

Hi again, if u can get into download mode you're OK. If not ,u need to buy a USB jig from ebay to get into download mode.
If u can get into download mode,do this..go to development forum and download "galaxy s3 toolkit v3" and Dl. To pc.
Now go to samfirmware.com and register. Go to galaxy s3 firmware and select LFB rom and download it to your PC. Extract the zip file so u end up with 3 files(maybe5) u need PDA, phone and csc files. Put in place on your PC so its easy to find. Now run the toolkit and follow instructions on how to flash.(use numbers to navigate and enter to select)
Ps. Password is samfirmware.com to extract the rom.
write me if u need assistance or here

Hi JJE, thanks for the reply!
This was indeed the guide that I was following. Yet I have repeated the steps to no avail. The phone now hangs at the SAMSUNG screen and glows when I try and switch it on normally.
This was in fact the second version of the same firmware I am trying to flash, the first being a hotfile download linked from this site. How should I proceed now?

Hi again! Sorry to take up so much of your time Do you mind if I ask what the LFB rom is? I think I know how to get back to AOKP but I need to revert it to the stock firmware so I can return my handset.

Thanks for the link but I cannot access CWM recovery. I have since fixed it by simply repeating the process with yet another version of the firmware. This time I followed it up with a factory reset that I accessed through [power+volume up+home] combination. I have used up my daily limit of thanks but will come back tomorrow to give credit where it's due. Thanks everybody.
Odin stop working when finally i click start button
Odin stop working after click start button and also i connect back panel usb port of cpu box

Cant update my s7 edge , says device is upto date , Please help !

So my dad got this new s7 edge for me. i used it for 1 day or so and realised that the android version is till on 6.0.1 . i tried to update the device manually but it says that its up-to-date, but im sure enough that its not. i also tried the smart switch method from Pc , but there is now update option in the smartswitch software as if the device is upto date.
I downloaded a root checker app to see if the device has been rooted or not , but the app shows that there are no signs for rooting. Can someone please help me with this, im tired of trying.

You should be able to download a 7.0 Nougat Firmware for your Exact Model and then flash it via Odin.

https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935T/TMB/download/G935TUVS4BRC1/215301
If I'm not wrong you have the S7 Edge from USA T-Mobile Carrier. This Link has the latest Android 7.0 Nougat Update (Build 12.04.2018) for the S7 Edge [USA T-Mobile].
Okay, once you downloaded the Firmware, you have to extract it. You should get an .tar or .tar.md5 file then.
Now you need to Download the Flashtool for Samsung Devices called "Odin"
Link: https://odin3.en.lo4d.com/download
This File contains the Latest Odin Tool Version 3.13.1
Send me Message again once both Downloads are finished and you extracted the Firmware so I can tell you the final steps to flash your Device

Good. One Question first: is the Firmware a single .tar File? If yes, then start Odin, select AP and select the Extracted Firmware File.
After that (Backup all your Important Data first before proceeding!) you have to put your Phone into the Download Mode, Power it off, wait a few Seconds, and then press and hold Volume Down Button and Home Button and after that press and hold the Power Button. If you get a Blue Screen displaying a Warning, everything is good and you can enter the Download Mode by pressing Volume Up Button another Time. Then Connect it to your PC and wait for Odin to say "Added!" after that simply hit Start to Flash.

Answer 1: If it gets interrupted while flash, it normally shouldn't do any damage. It would be then called a Soft-Brick and you would have to flash it again.
Answer 2: Depends on what File Size the Firmware has. But normally it shouldn't take more than 5-10 Minutes.
If I understood right, you have 5 Files.
Do they (kinda) look like this or have such letters in it?
- BL ...
- AP ...
- CP ...
- CSC ...
- USERDATA ...
If yes, then you just have to put the files to the correct Tab. Like BL ... to the BL tab and CSC to the CSC Tab.
