Im sorry for toy then, because I think the U needs to support it, not that you need the cable only.

Don't think it's possible due to hardware limitations I'm afraid.

Doesn't have HDMI-out I'm afraid. Lets you connect USB devices to the phone, but the HDMI-out is from the phone itself - which the Ray doesn't have. Only way I can think would be to sell it on and buy an Arc or similar.
I have a related question - has anyone ever used the DLNA options for streaming video from the phone? Does it do pictures too?
I just got my Xp Ray yesterday and haven't had time to back-up my current phone and move everything to it. I also need to root and partition a microsd card, too. But I'm looking forward to using it soon - it's a very elegant phone. (Got the gold.)

The only utility of the livedock is the possibility to keep in charge the phone while other usb devices are connected, cause it already handles the usb devices (I connect an usb dock with mouse and keyboard on it without problems, but I can't charge it at the same time^^)
does anyone know whether the xperia ray supports MHL?

Not that specific one, but the one that Sony sells. Works like a charm. But any cable should work, no matter what brand.
Not necessarily EVERY cable will work since there are actually two variants of the micro-USB standard, but the vast majority should work.
This is the one I got and it works like a charm: eBay

Did you try other headsets with your phone too, instead of just the headset on other phones... It may be a problem with the connector in the phone.

Regarding the Sony Ericsson xperia mini st15i with the full HD recording.
These headphones work great due to the 3.5 jack being constructed differently.
PHILIPS SHE7000BL/10
PHILIPS SHE3
PHILIPS SHE7000/10590
PHILIPS SHE3800WT/10
I managed to buy mine for £14.99 or there abouts in a Currys store (Practically as good as the originals)
If your a bloke you can buy them in black - Notice the 3.5 jack is separated 3 times and not 4 like many others.

USB OTG Trick , Would it solve our problems ?

I guess most of us faced the too much power problem with OTG cable while connecting to certain devices like usb modem or 6 axis (PlayStation 3) gamepad
I was thinking what if I used external power supply using a hub as shown in the attached pic
would it work , is there any other solution?
the pic is a method for usb otg non supporting devices like nexus s, offcorse they also need a special kernel and certain apps
sorry I'm new and can't post links
any comment is appreciated
thnks

in order to solve that problem, you must connect a powered usb hub to the phone, and the gamepad to the hub.
