Hi Folks,
Kindly bear with my English. I am a noob and have a silly question.
I have CM7 stable installed on my AT&T atrix 4g and I want to move to MROM. MROM has a kernel zip file to install. I wanted to know whether it is mandatory to have MROM kernel or atrix kernel will work as well..
Edit: Got reply from developer
MROM does come with a kernel within the zip file, however, it's not mandatory to use it, any CM7 kernels should work on it. What you could do is to go thru the installation of MROM, then when everything comes up ok, including gapps, reboot in recovery and install any CM7 kernel you like... hope this helps...

Thanks,
Jinesh
If you install the full ROM, the MROM kernel will automatically come with it.

Hi
I am looking to install CM7 on my Telus Fascinate. I would have asked this in the guides i have been reading but i don't have enough posts to post in the development area. I am currently running stock 2.2 with the Voodoo Lag Fix kernel. I've read a bunch of guides in the forums and i am just wondering can i flash with CM7 with this kernel running? I know i have to disable lag fix but i also see in guides about installing different kernels first. Also is there an initial version of CM7 i need to flash first or can i just go right to the latest nightly version.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Make TRIPLE sure you disable voodoo first. Start with the base CM7, since the kernel is bundled in with the package, then you can flash the latest nightly without any concerns (other than wiping cache).

If you're on Unnamed, you already have CWM, so all you need to do is reboot to recovery, then follow the steps given in the Hellraiser post.
Keep in mind - this is in essence a "mod" for I9100 ROMs that lets them run on our device - it's not a "mod" for Unnamed or any other I777 stock-derived ROM. You could flash it on Unnamed, but it'll do nothing because it replaces files with ones that are already there.
Since you are worried about bricking, you may want to stick with ROMs that are confirmed working in the Hellraiser thread, such as SensatioN or VillainROM. (CheckROM Revolution has been used but some people report wifi problems.) The only way to hardbrick one of our devices is to flash a bad bootloader, so if the ROM has no bootloaders (It is very rare for ROMs to include these), you basically can't permabrick.
thanks a lot, can you tell me where i can find the sensation rom?

you can find it in the Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 Forum in Android Development, there will be a post, just like how you got unNamed except in a different forum..
I'm going to add links to ROMs I've tested later.
ok so i found sensation rom, i went into cwm did a backup, then wipe/factory reset. Installed sensation from my sd card. right before i was about to flash sensation i got a call and notice i couldn't here anything. could this because I'm using a I9100 ron on a sgh-i777? Helppp I'm half way to hell i don't want to go back to unnamed
also when i flash in Rommanager do i flash as a att sg2 or i9100?
Flash in CWM, don't use ROM Manager. Use the three-finger trick from the CWM kernel thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823 - the procedure for entering CWM is the same for ALL CWM kernels for our device.
And how did you get a call while in recovery? You're supposed to flash the ROM, then flash Hellraiser without rebooting out of recovery. In your case, you should be able to just go back into recovery and flash Hellraiser. SensatioN might include an older CWM version (4.x), but that should still be able to flash Hellraiser.

did you read anything in the hellraiser thread? or anything in this thread for that matter?
hellraiser is a MOD to make the i9100 rom work....if you didnt flash it after flashing the rom, then your flash is INCOMPLETE
you shouldnt be using ROM Manager at all either....you need to do some reading here
Hi, I successfully flashed my T-mobile Vibrant about twelve months ago to a custom 2.2 Froyo rom (Trigger 3.2 Final). It's a great rom and EVERYTHING works. However lately I've read rave things said about newer roms such as ICS passion. It's been a while and I'm still a noobie at this so my question is:
What is the easiest way to get to ICS passion from my current custom Froyo rom ? Thanks ~ Chris
hi,
Its very easy to get ICS running on your vibe. There may be various ways to proceed. I ll give you what I did (AFTER failing for 5-6 times )
Odin back to stock (It may be not necessary. But I started from the beginning which is better AFAIK )
Then stored ICS ROM (ICZen which in my case) and update.zip (CWM) on internal SD
then flashed GB Bootloaders (It also may/ may not necessary. But I did it b/c I already had many failed attempts)
Then flashed CM7 first
After that flashed ICS on top of it
Worked at last for me
NOTE: Please read relevant instructions provided by ROMs b/c flashing one may differ from flashing another.
You can find more information if you run into problems in my thread [SOLVED]Cannot install ICS ROM--please HELP

Happy Flashing
You may just want to read this before flashing ICS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580902

And I would suggest staying away from Passion. It is based on 4.0.3 and there was a pretty significant code upgread when ICS went to 4.0.4.
IIRC, Passion is the last ROM that still uses 4.0.3 and is probably why it is dead now (but for some reason lives in infamy on YouTube and Google Search).
Haarsh's way works just fine but here is another method as another option too.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies. This is why I subscribed to the forum.
mmm... I see a few pitfalls ahead.
Background info from me is that I can't use Odin on my Linux computer. Never really got into Heimdall. I flashed my first rom by downloading the rom zip file and put it on my phone's internal sd card then let clockwork do the rest, ie nandroid backup and flash the rom from the update zip. I'd like to do the same again.
Ok, it's my understanding that anything above 2.2 needs the GB bootloader so the first step is to install that over my Trigger rom. I think Trigger would still run with the GB bootloader at that stage. Next download an update zip of a rom of my choice, put it on my phone's sd, then flash it with Clockwork.
Seems to me that should work or am I missing something I wonder ?
You can flash the GB bootloader. Its backward compatible so it will work with any ROM currently available.
Download the .zip of the ROM you want, and any Gapps if applicable. Then just follow the instructions on page 1 of the ROM (OP).
The usual would be Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Clear Cache, Clear Dalvik. Flash ROM, flash Gapps, restart. The instructions will tell you all you need to know.
If something goes wrong, give us a shout. That's what we're here for.
help me plz

So, I'm a pretty average custom rom user of an x10a.
I've flashed and tweaked out with several gingerbread roms, without any issues.
Recently I found about the newer 4.1.2 roms for the x10 from late December. And I was wondering, 'cause I want to update to one of those, I understand that they're flashed in the same way 2.3 roms are. But, my xRecovery is the 3.0 gingerbread ready version. So I don't know if it will work at all after I've installed one of the Jelly Bean roms.
So I'm kindly asking anybody who knows on the forum if it will still work after I flash to 4.1.2. 'Cause I'm not certain which rom of the two I found is better for me. And I want to test them both out, but of that of course I'd need xRecovery working.
In short I'm just asking for a y/n answer on will xRecovery for the Xperia x10 work after I've installed a 4.1 custom rom, or will I have to go back to stock 2.3.3 and re-root and unlock my bootloader again?
Big thanks to anybody who replies This is the first post I made here, and probably the only one I'll never need.

copy your choice of rom, ics/jb into your sd card. install the appropriate kernel via flashtool. all ics/jb kernels includes CWM so you should have no problem installing these roms granted that you have unlocked bootloader.

Well, yeah, I know that, thanks ^^" but, I guess my post was too long for the question to be understandable. I was actually asking if xRecovery will still work fine After I've installed an ICS/JB rom. Surprised somebody replied so quickly o.o thanks.

Oh, oh, sorry! WOW, I need to focus when reading! I'm really sorry! Thanks for the help good to know. :good:
It can be done, but it depends on which kernel you flash.
Some kernels only contain CWM, while others contain xRecovery and CWM.
But you can always flash a kernel that has xRecovery (Like Doomkernel of ferkernel 3.6), and thus you have xRecovery.

Thank you, glad to see that the community here is always willing to help!
Tried both of the roms today, and it worked like a charm! Neat that I didn't know each kernel came with custom recovery images.
Thank you for the help Cheers mate!

Hi
Can flash ICS/JB rom using xrecovery in Doomkernel? Thanks
I'm not sure mate, I don't think Doomlord's kernel is compatible with anything but 2.3, but don't take my word on it.

What you must understand is that a Rom comes with some installation scripts. CWM and xRecovery will able or not to understand those scripts.
In order to be able to flash a ICS or JB rom from xRecovery it means that the rom has to been prepared to be flashed thanks to xRecovery.
The Recovery "manager" are provided with the kernels, so there shouldn't be anything to ask about xRecovery or CWM regarding Roms,
just flash the kernel that works with your rom and you'll get the correct recovery to install the ROM from.
The only exception is that on some phone, the CM10 kernel doesn't want to go into recovery before flashing CM10 Rom (happened to me when coming from stock gb), so you have to flash CM9 kernel, install CM10 rom and reflash CM10 kernel.
The question of xRecovery and CWM is more when you try to flash some libraries after the installation of the Rom.
So regarding this question, there's no ICS or JB roms (that I know of) that have a xRecovery scripts.
Thank you for the answer for the old question.
I want to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167927 this.
I have epinter CM10.1 now.
What I need to do?
Do I need just enter the CWM and wiped everything and then flash the zip file?
or I need to do something more?
OLD:
I rooted my device with some quick root tool. (I don't remember where I found the guild).
I have unlocked my bootloader too. (I don't really remember but I think I made that with a guild from androidadvices. His title is :"How to Unlock Motorola Atrix 4G Mobile Phone")
My device is bought from ORANGE. (I think that I belong to Bell's group of ROMs. not AT&T).
I have flashed CM10 by epinter and then CM10.1 by epinter.
Now I want to give the phone to my little brother and I want to flash a ROM with all the webtop apps and blur apps.
I want a ROM with the minimum bugs. I prefer based of official 2.3.6 ROM
What ROM can you suggest me?
Do I need to do some changes with the phone before wipeing everything in the CWM and flashing ROMs ?
Thanks ahead.
This is based on 2.3.6 and is an updated version of a rom that many of us used for a long time as our daily driver.
