ics update 0.431 to 0.587 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I am a little confussed with this si numbers and cdf numbers.
There is a thread here at xda but i did not understand it clearly,
so i am asking here again.
My Phones si number is 1254-6289. I searched the web about that number
and this is what i get:
Available On Request | o2 Germany | 1254-6289 | Blue Gradient
Xperia Neo V (MT11) 1254-6289 4.1.B.0.587 9/4/2012
The phone came with ics .431 already updated and a few o2 apps installed.
I didn't liked ics at that time so i downgraded to gb via ftf file.
At that point i forgot to write down my cdf number and neither did a backup.
After a while i wanted ics back and used a 0.431 ftf to upgrade. After that
i did a nandroid backup.
Coming to the point:
Meanwhile i have unlocked my bootloader via test point and actually i am on
jjhybrid rom and suave kernel. When i restore back my 0.431 nandroid backup
and try upgrade to 0.587 i always get a notice that there is no update for my
phone. Phones service menu displays:
Phone Software Version: 1253-8237_4.1.B.0.431
ETS Software: 1254-4755_3
Customization Number: 1254-8478_R1I
So my simple question is which cdf numbers must i use to receive a message that
a new phone software is available.

For MT11i use 1255-1755

[Q] what is 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware

i was trying to installe android 2.3.5 but i found its post the i cant unless i have
Only 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware is that the orignal Rom the device came with ?
If you go into 'settings' then 'about phone' you will see the phones baseband version. If it ends in 15 it is most likely one of the two firmwares you mention. If you try to install a rom dependant on these firmwares and you don't have it you will temporarily brick your phone. (Requiring the use of the Sony Ericcson Update Service to hopefully restore the phone to working order).
It is possible your phone has the firmware already installed but you need to check! Some network providers have been very slow at releasing them. If you manage to find the firmware on the web (make sure it is the correct language and layout for your locale - AND the correct phone) then you need to use a flashing utility to install it, I use 'flashtool' as it can root the phone and install xrecovery, but you must be sure you read the documentation and follow the proceedure.
Once you have xrecovery and the phone is rooted the magic can begin..
Be careful. Its very easy to render your phone bricked (as in the phone is as useful as a brick!). No one here can take responsibility for the advice given or your actions.

my phone android version 2.2.1
baseband version M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
KERNAL VERSION 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
MOD VERSION FROYO MINICM/CMV6 HYBRID BY SLADE87 AND OWAIN 94
BUILD NUMBER V5.01 FINAL RELEASE
SO CAN I INSTALL SONYBREAD WHICH requires 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware
so do i have it????
Not anymore, but if you do Factory reset, yes you have
no it will not cuz the factory ROM is not exsist
In my understanding the firmware doesn't change when you install a custom rom and (to me) they are two different entities. So yes, in my view you should be able to flash sonybread but I haven't used it myself but I have other gingerbread ports without a problem
Once your on the correct baseband you can change between roms without having to flash via the pc/flashtool.
If you get into bootloops then you can try restoring an xrecovery/cwm recovery or failing that reflashing with seus/flashtool.

[Q]Is my current firmware 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 or other?

I'm trying to up my firmware to GingerDX (follow guide of stelios97), but he wrote

I dont know how to know exactly which my firmware is. In "about phone" only write "Firmware version 2.1-update 1"
I searched in 4rum and read that if my baseband version ends in 15, my firmware is one of these two firmwares. But my baseband version ends in 06, does it mean my firmware is not 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0? So how can I know exactly what is it?
These my phone's info:
Model number: E10i

the firmware is your build number, so you need to update it to proceed. The baseband is correct (ends in 06). If you are in stock rom, your kernel is stock too (to flash a new kernel there are other steps to do before). I hope this get useful for you, and as an advice, read a lot about android!

But my build number is 2.0.A.0.504, so my current firmware is 2.0 or 2.1?
And now If I want to update to 2.1.1.A.0.6 by SE update service, I have to relock Bootloader right? (I just Root, xRecovery and unlock Bootloader yesterday). But I read in [Guide] Bootloader and kernel guide | X8 | W8 | X10 mini | X10 mini pro of SpyderX that

You read it in a wrong way xD
Well, to relock your bootloader again, your kernel MUST be in stock, otherwise it will be bricked (it says so, I don't even mind to try it)...
To conclude, if you want to relock your bootloader again after having your stock kernel replaced with another kernel, use flashtool to replace your current kernel to the stock one, or just reflash it using SEUS to make sure. After that, you can relock your bootloader again
Hope that helps

your current firmware is 2.1. If you want to start all over again, you can simply go to the support zone in sony ericsson pc companion, in the update firmware section and "repair" (loosing all your data), and probably you will get the latest update available for our minis. And other option is mentioned by StardustGeass
I didnt use PC Companion (feared be bricked cause I unlocked BL already), I used flashtool to up my firmware to 2.1.1.A.0.6 successfully. In fact that I palpitated abit when flashing, but finally it was ok, my mini now is 2.1.1.A.0.6, all Root, xRecovery are removed and Bootloader is relocked now.
Now I have to start again to up FW to 2.3.7: root, xRecovery, unlock BL again, then flash nAa 08 Kernel be4 intall GingerDX from SD card
Thx for helping
This is my first post: Hi to everyone.
My mini is exactly the same than yuduy, except that mine is E10a. I have not modified anything yet, but I want to use the stelios97 Gingerbread ROM. Here in Mexico, according to PC Companion I am completely updated. So the questions are:
1.- What is the best way to update the firmware to meet the requiered buit number?
2.- How do I know if the phone will continue to work in the Mexican phone company TELCEL if I use a new ROM etc?
Thank you

I know a lot of you moved on ICS and most likely flashed one of the .ftf files around XDA, let's try to do this
All those user who are still on STOCK os, all those who didn't mess with build.prop file.
Do this:
->Go to the dialer and dial *#*#7378423#*#*

->Find where it say:
Customization Version:

Same number can be found in your build.prop under this 3 lines:
ro.product.name
ro.build.fingerprint
ro.semc.version.cust
about revision XXX you can find it in this line "ro.semc.version.cust_revision"
Also all those who maybe have written somewhere their original CDF number.
now go and make a reply to this thread and write: which phone you have, where you got your phone(country and tele. operator) and write the number like I did with X's above.

Its number written on the back. When you bought your phone, your fw was related to that number. That number is related to your region.
BUT, once you flashed your phone with fw for other region, only way to get back to the fw for your region is by changing CDF number and flashing with pc companion, as pc companion reads CDF number not SI. Pc companion doesn't have need to check SI number as it expects you never changed CDF number(by flashing some ftf for example).
Now someone will ask why Sony listed SI numbers not CDF. Because they expect that people dont know how to check CDF number, but they know how to check SI number, as its actually written on the phone. Also they expect that people didn't temper with phones fw, that they still have stock fw, and in stock fw CDF is in relation with SI number.
If now I want to go back to stock I simply put my CDF number and flash, and I should get fw for my SI number.
I hope this is enough explained
Look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543679
and you will se perfect example why someone would want CDF number.

And what happens if you delete build.prop and try to repair with PcCompanion?
Does he still guess the CDF numbers? and if not, shouldn't it ask you for Country and Carrier?
Sorry I can't try right now myself, but my PcCompanion installation is completelly messed up and not working.
Ok, I tried it myself, with SUS not PcCompanion.
After deleting build.prop, phone was unable to boot, tried to repair with SUS, and it simply said I already had the latest software and didn't give me a chance to repair. So no luck.
I'm not giving you my numbers since I did change them and lost the original ones, but I would be interested in the ones for Yoigo-Spain. For this carrier customization is very important since it uses a (semi)-virtual network and on custom roms I have to enable data roaming in order for it to work well. That,
If I'm getting the idea right, should be another reason to be interested in CDF numbers, so thanks for the thread!
is CDF = CDA in wotan?
if yes then

Yes. Sony Ericsson first used CDF letters in older SE phones, then they used CDA, then now again they are using CDF, lol, but yeah, that should be CDF number.
Problem is that you only wrote number, we don't know what is region of that, or is it for some tele operater. That's why I said, this is for those on stock os, meaning didn't flashed some random .ftf file or flashed some fw from wotan or similar service for those who didn't messed with buil.prop.
Anw, tnx for trying but, at least write region of that CDF number, if it's written in the log's from wotan, or if you remember which region you used
In my SD there is a file named CDAInfo.txt with some XXXX-XXXX_XXX number
that maybe is for the customization of the SD. But, can they be related? and by that I mean equal?

[Q] What FTF to use.

Hi guys,
I have an Neo unlocked with Night Elf 1.5 kernel and King's ROM.
But I don't think I have already flashed to .587 firmware even though everything is working correctly.
My "About Phone" screen shows:
8x55-AAABQQAZM-203028G-70 ==> so I think I don't have 587 ? Is this correct ?
Now what I don't know is :
What version of FTF for the .587 do I need to use ? ( I live in Belgium.)
I have downloaded this :
Xperia Neov_4.1.B.0.587_India SI 1254-8966 by abhiheart (376 MB)
and
MT15i_4.1.B.0.587_Global (only 236MB)
I don't know if I need to use these 2 that's why I am asking.
Could you guys give me an link to the correct one ?
PS: What JB roms are fully working because the overview thread hasn't been updated in a while
Thanks!
What you wrote above(from about phone screen) is baseband. It can be changed without changing entire build.
What you need to check is build number, but since you flashed custom ROM, I kinda doubt it have stock build number.
But if we can take assumption that you didn't changed baseband on your own, then no, you don't have .587, you have .562
Android 4.0.4; 4.1.B.0.587 have baseband 77
Android 4.0.4; 4.1.B.0.431 have baseband 72
Android 4.0.3; 4.1.A.0.562 have baseband 70 (which wasn't even officially out for Neo)
Android 2.3.4; 4.0.2.A.0.62 have baseband 64
Android 2.3.4; 4.0.2.A.0.42 have baseband 56
p.s. forgot to wrote, ftf's are in sticky thread in general section

Well, Belgium is not in Nordic region. But if you ask if it will work on your phone then yes, it will.
And about file size, have you check entire filenames/extensions?
Hi
Both have the FTF extension.
But both have different file sizes so ... I don't know ?
Maybe off topic: are there fully working JB roms except the JB port by Paranoid ?

No, they are not. One is a zip, other one is ftf.
Yes that is true, but when you unpack the zipped one then the size is still different
Kind regards
Ah, now I see what you were saying. Don't worry, files inside ftf are same size.
In few latest flashtool versions(to be more precise in 0.9.1.0 and above), created ftf's are compressed, while in older they were just packed in without compression.
You can use any of those ftf's, flashtool will extract both of them with no problems.
