Like the title says what do you recommend? I've bounced around a few and can't find one that's stable and has working bluetooth. Hybrid or some other easily custom DPI method is a plus.
Thanks.
I'd suggest reading through each forum. You said you've bounced around, you should know for yourself. Unfortunately, the current roms are the most stable, no BT for phone calls on any of them. If you want booth, JB isn't for you.

I would recommend the pa ics version. Rock solid and everything works.
Sent from my Note...where BIGGER is better!
ICS PA by Jamie June25th or JB PA by Jamie Sept 06 both are rock stable.
Ill go on record to say it honestly depends on the Bluetooth device!
I myself am using a Plantronics Voyager 855 (old i know) BT headset and it works just fine with FJ's "Jethro Bubba" beta Jelly Bean rom's (calls, music, notifications, whatever I throw at it)
I DO however know people on the same rom, who have issues with their BT headsets or vehicles not working in even the base things like phone calls (calling voicemail).
Any CM based rom WILL have this issue (until its fixed at least...)! This same issue happened back on CM7 at LEAST 3 times DIFFERENT times, worked fine, someone fiddled with something BT related or connected somehow, BT was broken... its a continual cycle of break/fix when it comes to CM, thats why Nighty's always have those HI's and low's.
Let everyone knows what works for you, as I said, what works fine for my device (phone+bt), might not work for others, so if you find what works, make sure to list the important info, EX: my Plantronics Voyager 855 has no problems with Phone Calls, Music, Videos, and Notification audio, on my Galaxy Note i717 running FJ's d9-28-2012 release.
*also, beware of restoring your device from Google, I have had WiFi and BT connections which where restored by elGoog cause me issues in CM9, I havent even let it try to cause havok in my new flash's
I'd recommend Liquid JB V2.0. I'm using the September 5 build and it's great. Bluetooth is working too, up to the September 11 build.

My build date says sept 8 and I connect BT without issue to my truck.
I have trouble understanding the discussion about BT not working. I need it to and it always has. But now I am fearful of updating my liquid smooth because this is my daily driver and when I say drive I mean I spend hours on the phone on BT in my truck. It must work!

Padawan ROM
I would say roll with the Padawan ROM. The bloat is stripped completely. I haven't seen a Jelly Bean ROM that is stable enough to get everything that you need. This is a SUPER ICS ROM! The only thing you have to worry about is the S-apps. If you use S-Memo and S-Note a lot, you will have to find a way to install them separately or use an alternative like GNote or Jotter.

Basically BT works for streaming media and not working for phone calls. It works for some people but not all. Some people said it depends on the BT headset. For me, bt is not working on my 3 bt headsets, Plantronics Voyager Pro HD, Jabra Extreme, and Blueant Q1.
If u want jelly bean and paranoid android. JamieD81 sept 11th build seemed to work for me and is buttery smooth too.
thanks for this man...
bt phone calls dont work on any of the new jb roms on either my Bose bt2, or my jabra 1100
music works fine though
hope going back to PA 9/6 does the trick, as I make bt calls all day, and I miss it!

So I must say that I love this Rom, everything is working fast and the battery life is the best.
The only problem that I have is with the Bluetooth.
My car have a build in bluetooth and when I pair it with the phone I cannot hear the the other side and they can't hear me.
It does work with my jawbone bluetooth.
Any Idea ?
Thank you
htc bt stacks are crap unfortunately.
Sorry I can't be of more help but this is why I haven't bought the bt module for my car stereo (150 bucks).
With any other Rom It works fine..
My wife have a stock thunderbolt and it works great.
When I use different rom it works fine....
But I really enjoy this one.
IS there any way for me to contact the developer ?

Hello everyone,
I have a few questions. As soon as I purchased my note I tossed out ICS (stock and multiple roms) as well as JB preview roms on it....but I've noticed a few issues w/ bluetooth.
With regards to my car (2012 Mercedes C-Coupe) I've had issues with the BT message access profile. The car can read texts and emails, but my phone doesn't connect to the car in this regard. I can make calls, and the phone even asks me if I want to grant my car permission to my messages - but nothing happens after that. The phone will stream google music through bluetooth and let me control the tracks but it has a difficult time with pandora and spotify.
Bring in my brother's same Galaxy note w/ 2.3.6 - stock rom...It connects to his phone, reads his texts, does pandora no problem....What is going on here? I thought ICS and GB were supposed be improvements? How can I get back the BT profiles? Is there a way to dual boot?
Thanks for your help.
First question would be what ROMs have you flashed? There are no official JB ROMs and the bones that are out are beta at best.
ICS shod be pretty good but again depends on what ROM you've flashed. AOSP/CM9 likely won't be as fully compatible as stock.

To be honest I don't remember the names of most. I'm currently running CM10 OpenKang that I downloaded from here. The last rom I used was the official ATT ICS upgrade and that was limited in it's ability (couldn't use TEXT feature on my car).
I'm trying to find ICS or JB Roms that have A2DP support. Until today I've been running Unnamed 2.2.1 which works great with my car's stereo and I'm able to stream pretty much whatever I want.
But wanting to update my phone to the latest android versions I started flashing some Roms and I haven't found one that would stream music via Bluetooth to my car's stereo.
Roms I've tried so far with no luck are:
CM9 Stable
AOKP JB (10.5.2012)
Slim Bean
SuperNexus Build 2 & 3
Aberration 1.3
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
I've been able to use A2DP to my car stereo on both cm9 and cm10. Make sure you delete the pairing on your stereo before connecting again after you flash a new ROM. That may be your problem.

Thanks for the response. I deleted all the saved paired devices from my car and I tried again with both CM9 stable and CM10 latest nightly and the stereo receives the song's info but it when I press play it the phone gets stuck playing on 0:01 of the song and nothing happens after that.
A2DP seems to be broken in a lot of kernels from reading around the dev forum. Try a different one.
Edit: Kernel, not rom.

Thanks for the response. I installed CM9 stable with the next kernels:
Siyah-v4.1.6-mswap
N.E.A.K-2.0.6x-AOSP
fluxi-xx-I777-7-29-2012
And still no luck getting a2dp working. I'm starting to think that it might be my car's stereo, I have clarion head units on all 3 of my vehicles and they all use "Parrot bluetooth module" whatever that means.
What I still find weird is that the Rom I'm running right now works great, so I guess I'll be running GB while I figure out how to get this working with a ICS or JB Rom.
I too am having the same problem with the A2DP support. I just flashed my 1st ROM on my GS3 and I'm not getting any audio through my car stereo speakers. Are most of the JB ROMS lacking this support? By looking at most of the posts, A2DP support seems to be broken. Almost makes we want to revert back to stock ICS :crying:

No, I look at it like it's about a different phone that has nothing to do with ours. And needs to be posted in the proper section.
I have been searching for the better part of 10 days, this site and others as well, trying to find a 2.3+ ROM with everything working. No luck. Currently running the (t)rusty Bionix V Fishman mod V4 with Bali 1.8.8UV and everything works fabulously. The issue for me is that there are several apps I would like to use that require a 2.3 or above to run.
Every one of the 2.3 ROMs i've found have something not working, most commonly hit or miss GPS and 911 dialing.
Of course I know that an option is to buy a new phone, but the Vibrant is just fine except for the fact that I am still running Froyo. My preference is to keep the Vibrant and upgrade to a more current ROM with everything working. Possible/impossible?
Thanks in advance.

I might just bite the bullet and try SlimICS, even though there are some posts indicating GPS issues.

+1 ICZen. You should try it. Who knows you might be one of the lucky ones with working GPS on ICS or even JB.
Because I am hard, you will not like me. But the more you hate me, the more you will learn.
Just an FYI, intermittent 911 issues are caused by improper GPS hacks (which CM was using till a while back)
I've been on and off trying to get them fixed. We now have the stock GPS libraries but they're not working fully and the daemon crashes, which I don't know the effect that would have on 911. Although I have confirmed that the stock GPS libraries fix the RIL crash at the point that was causing the 911 intermittent crash.
noted.
I read the 911 Info thread, but my main issue is with GPS. I think it is safe to say that my GPS gets more use than 911 dialing so that's what i'm most interested in. Not that I use GPS daily, but it's nice to have when needed.
Is it correct to say that a ROM based on CM 9 or 10 has the correct GPS libraries?

That's up to how diligent the developer is in keeping up to date with my changes. AOKP for example is still using the wrong libraries last time I checked.
Also, the "nice to have it when I need it" statement applies more to 911 than gps if you get my drift.

Indeed I do get your drift.
As for dev diligence, some users report that everything works after upgrade, while others claim that there are GPS/911 issues.
Certainly I would go for CM 9 or 10 since there is every indication that CM is the Gold Standard, but in the very first post of
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839655
it clearly states that there are may be interimttent GPS/911 issues and that it should NOT be used as a daily driver. I'm simply heeding this advice.
Maybe the question I should be asking is: Is there a way to determine if my Vibrant will be one of the lucky ones to have GPS/911 working post ROM upgrade before I actually do the upgrade?
Additionally, thank you FE for all your contributions to the Android community.

Right. That warning at the top is because of the GPS daemon crashing and also to cover any shortcomings on locating you during a call versus stock. Right now I do not know what would happen if a 911 call occurred while the GPS daemon was dead. If the call still worked and location was transmitted just as good, then it would be safer to use CM10. If not, it would be safer to use a ROM with the original libraries (as long as you can call consistently, see below.)
As for your GPS situation, you can always go back to stock so you could try.
And as for 911, there was one person who could not call at all due to the same problem that usually only caused intermittent issues, and then he tried a newer build with the original GPS libraries and he could then call. (Although no location was received, that may or may not be the ROM's fault) As for determining if you phone is like that, you can schedule a test call (on a ROM with old GPS libraries) with your local PSAP.

No stable ics or jb rom? Not sure I agree with that statement. I recently installed YNC's CG rom, and it's been at least as stable as HTC's honeycomb build. Granted I haven't yet put the GPS or bluetooth through a good workout (both crucial to a setup in a car), but for everyday use around the house it has been rock solid.

There are still a few features yet to be implemented: front facing camera, usb otg, and a couple of others. So read the first post to see the full list of things that aren't yet functional. But if (like me) you don't ever use one of those features, this build is very good (and has been extremely stable for me). Here's the link:
