I think/hope this might be an easy question.
I have an xperia S that has bootloader unlocked and currently running a custom rom. In the next few weeks I may be swapping the phone with a family member. How would I go about getting the phone back on stock Sony firmware. I am not bothered about relocking the bootloader but I want to be able to put stock sony fw back on the phone so that they would be able to update the phone officially via sony pc companion.
it's a bit as I can flash roms /kernels and unlock bootloaders on these things but have now idea how to get it back to stock
cheers

You can reflash the stock ROM with flashtool. In order to get updates via PC Companion again, you need to relock your bootloader.

Hello! So i have unlocked bootloader with sony ericsson instructions and rooted with zergrush. I bored to feeling with custom roms that the phone is never "clean" you know un-updated everything doesnt work etc. but the problem is that when i flashed back to stock .42 firmware with flashtool it was unrooted just unlocked bootloader then i got notifaction about ".62" update so i decided to update, it downloaded the thing with wifi and then i clicked "install" and it shutted down, shown something logo that tells that the phone is installing update. after 10 seconds it rebooted and said that "update failed" what should i do to get my neo original state
Since you unlocked bootloader by official way, you can't use SEUS or PC Companion.
I wonder how you didn't end up with bricked phone after you did OTA update
Anw, ether you flash .62 ftf with flashtool, or you re-lock your bootloader by this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134335
and you can use SEUS or PC Companion after you re-lock it.
Okay Thanks

Just one note for future, you can use thanks button, for posts which helped you, instead of posting just thanks
I'm willing to unlock the bootloader of my WT19, so I can flash a custom kernel and install this ROM.
What if I want to update to Sony's official Android 4.0 firmware (when it's released in 2~3 months)? Can I just use PC Companion to restore my phone? Do I need to firstly relock the bootloader to be able to use PC Companion?
Thanks.

havent actually tried it yet, but definitely it is advisable to relock boot loader if you are going to use official update from Sony using their methods.
flashing the official rom using flashtool, if someone uploads it, is possible even without relocking of bootloader.
So,I've rooted and unlock its bootloader for a long time.I also install my phone ClockWorkMod Recovery and etc. other root stuff (My android is 2.3.4 .58 Firmware)
So,today I thought I will finally relock my bootloader as my phone will receive a new ICS official from Sony Ericsson anytime from now until end of June,so I download a relock bootloader ftf file (I've searched it in the internet, and download the right file). After I flashed it (I've enabled USB debugging before shut down my phone and I also sure my phone is in flash mode during flash),my phone WON'T boot up...I don't know what happen,so I'm currently fixing it by using WotanServer, and it downloading in progress now (My x10 Mini Pro bricked 5 times, and I fix it 5 times by myself without whining )
So,I wanna ask you guys :
Why my phone won't boot up?Although the bootloader is locked by Flashtool, but it won't boot up I've stock FIRMWARE and stock KERNEL in my phone...never modified it,only root, unlock its bootloader and flash CWM in it...
Thanks for reading I hope you can answer my question
Regards,
UchihaDareNial
Uhm, since WotanServer installs also stock kernel back...doesn't it require unlocked bootloader?
I am not sure, but that would make sense with all other kernel installations also.
Unlock bootloader, install firmware and kernel with WotanServer again, boot and relock bootloader.

Thanks for the information man,by the way,I just restore my phone using WotanServer and WotanServer will always be my trust to restore my phone if it got a brick or something like that
I restore my phone with Firmware .58 and I rooted it using ZergRush, and update it using OTA [My phone automatically bootloader locked] (I install US Generic xD even I live in Malaysia,so I got Sk17a instead of Sk17i) and now I got .62 firmware with root access in my phone

I think not as pc companion don't require unlocked bootloader to flash the rom.

Yep,you are right...
Because,WotanServer and PC Companion and SEUS use OTHER method which I (even other ROM developer maybe?) don't know how the file work with the flashing without needed bootloader unlocked right?

PC Companion doesn't work with unlocked bootloader at all.
You might be correct, as I have never tried update/repair via PC Companion.

I know, the point is that it's not necessary for flashing stock kernel bootloader to be unlocked.I think it's pretty obvious, if it didn't update with locked bootloader then sony would have to force users to unlock bootloader or give unlocked phones or never update kernel.
Hello,
PC Companion says that i have a new update, but i've unlocked and rooted my phone, so when the install should begin, an error pops up saying that i have a modded firmware and i cannot update it.
So, i think the same issue will go on when next week or next year ICS will be released.
The question is: what i have to do to update my XS? I've to flash the ftf loosing the recovery and then reinstall it? Doing that, i will lost all the apps and everything on my phone?
Thank You very much
If you have unlocked bootloader, you cannot update using the official method, but only through flashtool.
If for some reason you want to use the official way, you should relock the bootloader, here is the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
As far as my knowledge goes: You could backup your apps, lock your bootloader, upgrade to ICS, unlock bootloader, achieve root, restore apps. You'll probably have to wait for root for ICS though, shouldn't take long at all.
Or at least that's how I hope it will work.
So, the faster way is to wait for a custom rom correctly packed to be flashed via recovery
Thank guys
I think it would be great if someone would post a guide on how to completely revert the Xperia S to stock.
Stock kernel, recovery, everything. I think it would be helpful if you're sending it in for repairs or you're selling it to someone who wants it back to stock.
easy, if youve unlock bootloader just relock it again then repair via seus or pc companion. but you cannot gain the drm keys again because its gone when u unlocked your bootloader.
