I think it would be great if someone would post a guide on how to completely revert the Xperia S to stock.
Stock kernel, recovery, everything. I think it would be helpful if you're sending it in for repairs or you're selling it to someone who wants it back to stock.
easy, if youve unlock bootloader just relock it again then repair via seus or pc companion. but you cannot gain the drm keys again because its gone when u unlocked your bootloader.

Hello,
I have a used sk17i and the previous owner unlocked the bootloader.
Not sure what method was used to unlock it.
The problem I'm having is I want to restore the phone via SEUS, but when it asks to turn phone on holding down, SEUS does not see the phone in flash mode (flashtool does).
I presume I need to relock the bootloader for SEUS to start working again?
What are the steps to figure out what method was used to unlock it, and to relock it? (if it's the patched thing, how do I reverse it, if I need to flash the stock sk17i kernel (currently it's not a stock one), where do I get the boot.img?)
relock bootloader
I'm still find a way to get oem bootloader back..
seriously, no-one saved the original one ?
If you just want to restore to original SE's OS you can use Wotan Server for that. Its totally free, you just need to register at WotanServer.com which is also free. The Wotan Server client will download the firmware once you select the CDA. You can have any custom kernel os rom before using Wotan . You dont need to relock bootloader for this . I did this on my Xperia Mini . But if you want to relock bootloader for other reasons then the available method is for Xperia arc. This method is only if the bootloader is unlocked in normal method. If the bootloader was unlocked using setool, omnius, patch, etc. then this relocking method wont work, Which is risky . It worked on my Xperia Mini but I dont suggest it because it was posted for Xperia arc. And even though you relock bootloader you wont get the DRM rights back which means you cannot use apps like trackId, appextra, etc. All the best.
Does the rooting avoid warranty in Ray?
I also want to unlock the bootloader to install CWM, how to relock it and to restore the phone without cwm just in case to send it to service center?
unofficial unlocking
oh my God..
this issue discussed in too much topics..
If you unlocked the bootloader with unofficial method without loosing DRM
than you can try to reflash with Wotan to the stock and then relock bootloader
and 95% that the service center they will not suspect anything
but dont forget what is the warrenty case.
if the reason of breakage is a factory production defect
than THEY will PAY for REPAIR
if YOU will break your phone then YOU will PAY for REPAIR
Thanks mate, I'm quite newbie in android
Can you please link to me the thread of this unlock/relock method ?

as the title, did you use the OFFICIAL METHOD, or theTEST POINT ONE??!??
maybe... why?!? and what do you think about the quest of warranty back?

well test point method is better because by following this method you will never lose drm keys and in official method you will lose these keys and you will never get it back. and your warrenty will be avoided in official method even if you relock the bootloader.
Official method.
Phone went to warranty, relocked bootloader, flashed stock firmware, had no problems. Touchscreen was replaced due to installing wrong ROM.
I think/hope this might be an easy question.
I have an xperia S that has bootloader unlocked and currently running a custom rom. In the next few weeks I may be swapping the phone with a family member. How would I go about getting the phone back on stock Sony firmware. I am not bothered about relocking the bootloader but I want to be able to put stock sony fw back on the phone so that they would be able to update the phone officially via sony pc companion.
it's a bit as I can flash roms /kernels and unlock bootloaders on these things but have now idea how to get it back to stock
cheers

You can reflash the stock ROM with flashtool. In order to get updates via PC Companion again, you need to relock your bootloader.
I know rooting can be undone, but if I need to send the phone in for repairs is it safe to unlock the boot loader, flash ROMs and install alternative recoveries like CWM? Perhaps there's no way to relock and unlock bootloader yet but maybe there will be in the future. Can these be undone or do they void the warrent in the first place?
Why don't you ask Sony? Any answer you get here is hearsay and assumptions. Additionally if people have been able to so things in the past should be relied upon as principle.

Well, I have my phone rooted (without unlocking bootloader. You only need to unlock your bootloader to install a custom kernel. If you do this you need to back up your TA) and I still have my TA partition (needed for DRM keys) still intact. IF I needed to send my phone for repair under warranty (assuming it is non firmware related) all I would need to do is repair phone via PC Companion and send it in. I'm sure other people have different view points so it would be advisable to get more opinions to get a general consensus on the matter.
I contacted Sony today and asked if rooting android or unlocking the bootloader could void the warranty and they said
"all the process related to tampered or modify the software of the phone can void the warranty, also physical damage or water damage"
so it beets me what the warranty does cover.
As far as I'm aware "what the don't know wont hurt them..." so as long as you have your TA partition intact and bootloader locked when you send it in and a stock firmware installed then, in theory, they should be none the wiser. The same goes for shamsung phones pre knox. If it is in a stock state then all is good. Other than that; read, back up, modify to your hearts content m8:victory:
