Please suggest a rom to me, coming from SGS2 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently switched from S2 to S3. I was using a lot of roms on my S2, mostly Leomar/Checkrom and later on I swapped to cm9, because I love the look of Android 4.
Now I got hands on an S3 and to my disappointment, I have to read about a lot of problems when it comes to JB, even on stock release. The fact that Samsung didn't make use of project butter really baffled me.
So now I am looking for a rom with the following (hopefully possible) aspects (I don't care if it is aosp or stock, but I guess it has to be a stock rom):
+Fully working Bluetooth for my car audio/phone
+Smooth UI (best possible without butter on S3)
+No bloatware, but new sammy features should be working
+AOSP look/theme, if possible (master vertumus still doing his magic )
JB would be nice, but I would go with ICS too, at least until they fixed their JB rom.
OFC I recently ran over the forum pages and for me it looks like checkrom (either ICS or JB release) would be a good fit for me.
Thanks!

Please try roms out yourself.
Kthxbai Inb4lock.

Goto rom threads
Read changelog
Have a look on the rom
Read feedback
Choose one
Download and flash
《swagged from aokp》

OP, please read up and try them out. There are numerous options I know, but each rom/kernel will perform on each phone differently and opinions will vary also. Thank you.

To Stock or not to Stock, whats your suggestion?

Hello to all that reads.
Please help
I have recently acquired Galaxy S 2 - It appears to be stuck on Android 2.3.4
PDA: I9100XWKI4
Phone: I9100XXKI1
CSC:I900XEUKH2
No update through Kies, No update via OTA. Ive not rooted it and its already unlocked
Any Suggestions on what ROM i should stick on this?
Thanks in advance
Are you happy with touchwiz? Try watching some videos on different roms. If you do like touchwiz, go look for roms in the Android Development Sections. But if you wanna try something different, look in the Original Android Development Section. I personally like Insanity II. So far the lightest rom I've ever used.
I've personally flashed a large majority of the ROMs out there and I have found that you can have the best of both worlds. Look up SHOstock ROMs and I think you will be more than happy with the results.
Rock SHOstock. Period.
As you cannot even post in the correct section stock until you get knowledge by reading and learning .

Stock. Don't even update it. 2.3.4 was the last update with overscroll bounce

I like stock. Touchwiz is nice, Stock roms are IMHO better in stability and they're just... stocky

Your thread is phrased as a question, has a question mark at the end and you added a question mark icon to it. You also describe it as a question above. Yet you choose not only to post in General rather than Q&A, but then have a pop at a senior and respected member (who has been thanked over 1000 times) in contravention of at least two Forum rules.
Good work for a gnarled four post veteran.

New "Development" Threads

Why are all of the sudden so many roms getting "deved" thanks to the flashaholics tool? Maybe it is just me, but I don't see the point in creating these threads when the flashaholics tool already has a thread and is super simple to use. I am just tired of people almost passing themselves as developers when all they have done is used an amazing tool given to us by ktoonsez.
Maybe I am the only one, but I am tired of these suedo-devs that have popped up this week. Ultimately running a hellraising utility on I-9100 roms does not deserve a new thread everytime it happens in my book and it is rather annoying to see all these threads popping up.
I assume that all of the threads that used flashaholics gave credit to the original rom developer and ktoonsez? If so of isn't a problem with me.

As long as they give the proper credits to devs, i dont see any problem sharing hellraised roms.
This community is based on sharing, let them share the way they want to. In the end its better than nothing

I agree, but it lessens the effort put forth by real devs. It took me nearly 20 solid hours of work to make my first ROM. I just think we should have a thread dedicated to "hellraised" ROMs and not clog up the dev forum where real ROMs should shine.
This is something that cropped up in the Infuse forums too, however it took a LOT longer for it to happen here than over there.
I think we may need to move to an approach like the I9100 forums - "original" development, and development.
The difference:
Hellraising another ROM that was not created by you is not by any means "original" - for the convenience of users it makes sense to offer these pre-integrated experiences, however, I think that these should be separated from actual original development, where the person releasing the ROM has started from a stock firmware base (whether I9100 or I777 stock firmware) and made their own modifications.
e.g.:
An I9100 firmware author Hellraises and releases here - they are the original developer of the firmware, so it is "original" even if it might not have met the I9100 forums' criteria of "original"
Someone deodexes and modifies a stock firmware - that's "original"
Someone Hellraises another person's firmware from the I9100 forums - not by any means "original"
Like that idea.
They should all put something in title that says flashaholic tool.. Some did that already.

i'm on the fence about this.
On one hand, those threads are not necessary because I can use the flashaholics tool myself to flash those ROMs. On the other hand, that work is already done and it makes it that much easier to flash (this is mainly good for the newbs that dont feel comfortable using those tools and also good for the lazy people that know how to use the tool but dont feel like doing it themselves). As long as the OP gives the proper credit, I dont see a problem with it.
Those threads also create a place to talk about bugs related to the i777 however its not like anyone can fix them because the original dev is not monitoring that thread.
i'm not sure if a separate section for "original development" is really necessary but I can see why it might help.

I really like this idea, it addresses my real concern of these hellraised threads clogging up actual dev space, as well as making it more obvious that the OP wasn't directly involved in development for it.

This is kind of how I feel about it. As others stated, I don't have a major problem when proper credit is given. In part, I don't like the idea of a hellraised rom justifying a new thread, but on the other hand, it exposes me to a rom I might not have seen otherwise.
I think it would be better if there was a subforum for hellraised roms and nonoriginal work (i.e. the script threads or mod ports), and actual development (the OP is the actual creator of what's being shared).
Dont worry Guys, this is being delt with as we speak. All Hellraised and Flashaholic roms will be collected in one thread instead of having multiple threads.

This is the i777 forum. I dont see the need to have 14 i9100 hellraised threads. Its a good idea to have these hellraised roms so people can flash and try them, but we think its best to have them in one place instead of cluttering up the Dev forum.

I like Entropys idea. Better to have a sub forum. Not throw em all in one thread.

While this works well for the i9100 guys, we wont/dont have that many hellraised roms to warrant its own forum. The reason it works so well in the i9100 forums is because they have a lot going for original development (people creating/tweaking/maximizing firmwares) and the general development. Here we wont have too much going on once those roms are hellraised because they are already tweaked to begin with... so instead of having a separate forum, a single thread is going to be created to house all of the hellraised roms and then issues/questions can be asked/answered in that thread.
Also, I dont like the idea of having a separate i9100 forum under the i777 forum. For that matter, they can go post in the original i9100 thread.

I'm curious how you would keep that "hellraised roms" thread organized? Would you dedicate one person to update the first post for each new hellraised rom? Scanning through pages and pages, is not really ideal if you want to find a download link......just curious.

Separate sub forums for ICS & GB

Dear Modes...
Is it possible to separate the Android Development forum to sub forums as GB roms & ICS roms.
Its becoming very crowdy and confusing now....
Hope someone is listening...
+ 1 yes, yes
I actually was thinking the same but, when ICS ROM gets officially released (probably in a few weeks), development will only be on ICS ROMs and GB ROMs will be a thing of the past.
But still, I would love to see separate space for ICS ROMs...
This is a great idea - MODS do it
Yet another poster who should know better and post in the correct section instead of messing the forums up with inane posts .

Great idea !
I don't think I've ever seen sub forums on XDA for separate OS iterations, so I doubt it.
By the way, this is a question probably more suited for PM or at the very least Q&A forum, definitely not Android Development...
1) Absolutely should not have had a thread created to pose this question.
2) I don't see the point of splitting the forum further purely along the lines of different Android versions. Having separate forums for the different variations of the SGS2 is fine/necessary, splitting the I9100/T forum into ICS & GB, meh.
all i think is things just need a bit of a cleanup, all the roms that have touch wiz and sammy stuff should go in the original android section and aosp themed roms and heavilly themed roms should go in android development, either that of have sub sections like they do on hd2
Most of the so called custom ROMs are photoshopped icons + JKay's mods. Once ICS gets official and JKay ports his mods to it, Gingebread "development" will disappear on its own, so no need for separate sections.
What we really need is to move all photoshop+JKay stock roms from Original Development to Development, so that original development section gets cleaned up a bit.

I was thinking the same.
Is not a good idea for me. When will be released officially ICS will have no sense to have two sub-forum.
Not supporting the idea. GB forum would be a desert in a few months, so they would have to merge it back or delete it.
it's a pain find all the info the "Newbies and Noobs" need. +1 I think forums need a cleanup.
Some post from Android Dev are full of the same questions! over and over again.

You hit the nail on the head noobs posting same question over and over . Why is cause they wont search and dont even read the instructions .So whats the point this is a developers forum not a help forum .Rule is if you are to lazy to search read and learn you dont belong on here .
XDA does not cater to the IWant I Want Know Know crowd .

You see I knew someone would reply with that thread that your not allowed to post about best ROM.
It says "Best Rom"
I don't ask that. I ask for a ROM that is suited to my requirements, stock and fixes bugs.
it's just another way of asking for "the rom"
check the roll up for a link that categorizes the rom based on what it's based on.
The rest is up to you to read up on what has been fixed or not.
Which ROM to download? All of them and then try them one by one. To round them down a little, dont download aosp roms, they do not fit your requirements
What a ton of help you guys are. He's not asking for help or to have his hand held. He's asking for opinions from ppl that have his set of needs and have tried the ROMs. That is not against the rules. If you have no worthwhile comment, why come here to be a cunny? Go to your bus stop and rag the locals. This site is about guidance and mobile community, stop with the dickishness already. You guys breed the **** here.

While it is a site with guidance, it is also a developer site. It is a site that users must read and inform themselves which rom has the features, which rom suits them better. I got the GS3 just 5 days ago and I've tried 7 different roms, just to see what suits me better.
Thread closed as this does fall under the category of "Best Rom."
OP, good luck.

[Q] I need sumbodeeh to help me

Hello everyone, not really new to this forum, but just created one account. xda noob. try to search all over the xda forum and googled, doesn't seems to answer my question. So, please, help me out.
SO. The question is,
i am looking for a ROM that is pure, super pure, ultra pure, without any customization for my i9100G that is running kitkat. Something like SuperNexus, but to my knowledge the project is now closed, and I am a freak person I can't live with the bug inside the rom (browser flashing bug). so is there any ROM that provide the pureness and cleanness that I am looking for?
Thanks!
Rom recommendations are forbidden here. You're expected to make a nandroid, go over to the two development sections, read some rom threads, and try out some roms. Expect mods to close this thread presently.

opps. ahhh rom recommendation....sorry.
As said before, ROM and other recommendation threads aren't allowed on XDA.
Why? Well, all the developers work really hard to bring users top-notch ROMs, and some are different from others. There could be feature packed ROMs that compromise on performance, or minimal ROMs with lagless performance, or there could be the best of both worlds. Either way, choosing one ROM over the others, for whatever reasons, can be rather disheartening to the developers who work long and hard.
What do you do now? Only you can answer that question. Flash a few ROMs, see which suits you. Who knows? You may end up happy with a ROM that could've gone unnoticed if you had got recommendations.
Happy flashing!
