I didn't get any screen protector pre installed or in the box :crying:
But yes I read that some phones got one pre installed
Yip. My Xperia P came with one pre-installed, but there was no spare in the box. Made short work of it and replaced it with an InvisibleShield.
i dont find it in the box

Thread moved to Q & A, post in the relevant section next time.
XP screen protector questions
Hi all,
I have a black XP with a preinstalled screen protector. I also have a case that shields everything except the screen. I also have another screen protector that i did not install yet.
So now my question is, should i install the aftermarket screen protector on top of the existing preinstalled one? And is it possible to remove just the aftermarket one after it is scratched (over time i guess it will be). Will there be any residual glue left on the screen? If yes, what should i use to wipe it off?
Or would you just use it as it is with the preinstalled one, and then if that one get's scratched, replace it with an aftermarket one?
i hope i was clear enough...looking forward to your answers, thanks
Its not a preinstalled screen protector. It's factory applied and if you take it off say goodbye to your phone. Just clean it And apply your protector on top of it,

Hi All, since a lot of us are getting the shift now, i guess it's time to think about which screen protector you are going to use, personally i always enjoy the Martin Field Overlay Screen protector, but they don't seems to have one for the shift yet, what do you guys think? found any good screen protector you are going to use?
Hi,
My shift was delivered with a screen protector, I have placed it on the first day and it looks really good. There was no brand on it, so I cannot tell about the manufacturer.
So far I am vey satisfied with it.

yes, i am aware of that, it just i have been using HTC for more then 7 years now, past experience told me i better wait for better screen protector, because once you put it the HTC one, it's so difficult to remove it, and if you do try to remove it and swap it with something else, you leave a mark on the screen, some user even experience bend and uneven screen because the original one is just so sticky.
There don't seem to be many screen protectors specifically for the Shift yet, I'm sure there will be soon. I fitted the included one but not very well, I managed to get a couple of dust specks under it.
I've ordered some generic 7" protectors from Durasec http://www.durasec.com/catalog/index.php?language=en
I also ordered one of their liquid nanotech screen protector kits, don't know much about it but it appears to be a liquid which you spray onto the screen to form a seal. Should be interesting...
Is it neccessary?
Hi,
please, give me an answer to a stupid question?
Is it really necessary to apply a screen protector. Why don't the manufacturers do it in the first place.
What are the advantages, what the disadvantages. Okay, protection comes to mind as an advantage, but shouldn't the original screen be resilient enough?
I'd really like to here some informative opinions.
I have been using a HTC Vario II for some time now without any protection and I can't detect any scratches.

Has anyone managed to find a decent screen protector yet?
Pantaloonie - how was the durasec one?
I've received them, but haven't got round to removing the original and trying them out. The liquid one is a bit strange, apparently you spray it on the screen then spread it with the included cloth, and it forms a protective layer.... or something. Think I'll be testing that on a cheaper device first!

mmm. sounds interesting!
I've got the original on but I have a scratch on the screen and wanted to remove it to see if its just the screen protector or the actual screen that is scratched. Have tried in vain to get at it to peel it off...
Just managed to get a corner - it came off no problem and thankfully the scratch isnt there! Just need a new protector now, my OCD is starting to kick in. Let me know how you get on with the Duratecs! Cheers

DO NOT by the Durasec. Got mine from Germany, welcome to bubble hell.
Just wish I knew where the original ones are from....
Anyone found any decent ones?
I still haven't tried either of the Durasec ones I bought, as it seems I'll be needing dynamite to remove the original one. It does not want to come off.

I'd leave it on if I were you - I only took mine off as it had a hair underneath and I was losing sleep over it. Took a while but once you get a hold of a little corner it lifts off no problem. I've emailed HTC to ask if they can send me another but I'm notn holding my breath.
Would stay away from the standard Duratec - waste of £8. Let me know if you try the liquid one though!
Hi -
Anyone used the liquid Duratec shield on the Shift yet?
Cheers - Dave
Duratec Crap
Hi,
today I removed the original Screen and tried Duratec, the cheap screen protector. They have also got a hightec version or something like that.
Crap! Crappier! Crappiest sheet of **** you can think of.

But which one is really recommendable?
Thanks!

How did you remove the original screen protector without damaging the display? What is the problem with the Duratec screens?
Hi,
removal was difficult, but I did it. I don't know the exact English words. I used this sticky tape which you wrap up parcels with, tape is of a brownish colour. That I stuck onto the screen protector until it lifted in one corner.
Duratec is thin and cheap material and I guess it is not possible to get it on the screen without lots of bubbles.
Now I have ordered a protector from Brando, was that the name?
We will see.
S.
I really like the anti glare screen protector from www.pocketpctechs.com . I use it with my both my SMT5800 cellphone and my Motion Tablet PC. I'm hoping I can get one sized for the Shift. But my Shift is not here yet so I don't know the size. I can't even tell I have a screen protector with this brand.
screen protector abuse
Hi,
any news about the "best" protector.
In the meantime I have abused 4 or 5. Duratec's cheap ones aren't of any other use than to clean the screen from dust particles.
I tried the Brando "ultra clear" was that the name? Relativ easy to apply, but in the end I fiddled with it too long. Had to peel it off.
Next I tried Brando "plus". Easily to apply, but foil slipped underneath the edge of the screen, when lifting it up to clean off a piece of fluff the protectors edge was damaged.
But the last one is really easy to apply. But, but, they or the distributers just declared them to be for the Shift, originally they are for the eee, how many eeeees were there?
So the screen protector doesn't really fit. At the edges there the foil doesn't cover about 1 or 2 millimeters of the Shift's screen.
Maybe somtime soon they will sell a protector that is for the Shift.
Please, if anyone has got the ultimate protector mention it here:
perfect fit and easily to apply would be nice features.

yeah but it sucks haha
no there is 2 pre applied screens. One is the visible ****ty one, then there is a fine almost invisible one under it.
I can't see one on my AT&T X10. Do you know if they come with one applied or is it just the unlocked ones?
Yeah I'm a tool. I just noticed it. Its a damn nice protector as I couldn't see it until I really looked at the bottom of the screen.

So all those tiny little scratches are on the factory installed screen protector? Are we supposed to replace it or just lay another on on the top (when I receive my free stealth shield)?
You would want to replace it when you get your new one. I think many would be pleasantly surprised to learn that the light scratches on their phone probably are just on the screen protector.

Hi there, my new Xperia U just arrived...
It comes with the screen protectors.. and they are labeled 1Back and 2Front..
Is it supposed to apply both? first the back and then the front? Or just one of them? And if it's just one of them, then how can i save the other without losing the glue?
Thanks!
just 1!. it has 1 protector PREinstalled.
No need to install protector the first month.
no, on Xperia U the only protector that is preinstalled is the anti-shatter, that is atracts much fingerprints and gets dirty fast...
so how can i save the 2nd protector? it will be glueing everywere :S
lol realized out to put it xb
thanks!
Hi People,
just wondering if the Sony logo will come off with taking that thing off. Anyone experienced how scratch resistent the "real" glass of our Tablet is?
On my Xperia Arc S I took it off in the first month of use...got it almost 2 Years now and only 2 noticeable scratches.

After much hesitation, I finally got around to remove the pre installed film last night.
It is not easy to remove , but it is worth it. You get better touch sensitivity and clearer picture; and it feel so much better to touch actual glass than plastic!
Use a blade or a sharp object near the corners to lift the film up carefully without scratching anything else.Fingernails didn't do the job for me!
After you have lifted a good amount of the film, you can pull the rest by hand; but it doesn't come off easily and will leave some residue behind. Use a clean cloth to remove the residue. Voila!

Nope. I think that happens only to certain models of the Xperia Z phone.
Though I personally would have been happy if it did come off; don't care too much for the branding and would have liked a plain black front
Will the screen scratch easier without the film, or is it som sort of gorilla glass under the film?

I don't remember exactly the spec, but I am pretty sure it is scratch resistant glass but not the 'gorilla' brand.
I hate screen protectors and am okay with a few minor scratches as long as the don't interfere with the screen when its on.
Worst case, I got Sony Care if the screen gets really damaged and hopefully can get it replaced.
I expect the anti shatter film to be similar to the one in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GzYnDnZDRg
I'm keeping it on the tablet, at least for now.

Sir, you mentioned that you have already removed pre applied screen protector on your Xperia Arc S, so I was wondering is that this layer about half of millimeter smaller than the whole screen?
please answer as soon as possible.
Thanks!

It's the layer which stands out a bit if you look from the side or feel it with your fingernail. I recommend something like a thumbtack or something else sharp to remove it but watch out not to damage your screen! The screen may be sticky after removing it. Just wash it with a wet cloth some times and after 1 or 2 days of usage it will be gone.
Hello. Does anyone know what it looks like to replace the film on the screen? Or maybe someone uses something to protect the screen?
Thanks for the reply.
You can buy a screen protector from Amazon, eBay, aliexpress then you can replace it by yourself, it is not easy to install new one but it's possible

I got my Huawei Mate Xs native screen protector unstuck. Just in the middle, along the hinge. Huawei After sales services in Paris offered a free replacement (under warranty). But the result is an irregular, bad fitted protection ! They say it is impossible for a human to replace it as perfectly as the machine initially did !! I couldn't consider that, and asked them to retry ! Did anyone get a similar experience ?
