[Q] Can't update from HC to ICS - Sony Tablet S

Hi guys!
I have a problem updating my Sony Tablet S from (rooted) HC to ICS. I always get the message Could update, errorcode seven. Now I have read a lot and I think it is because I have the wrong region. I have the german tablet with 3G.
I remember, that I along time ago changed to (I think) US (I don't remember why I did this). Now I wanted to changed back, so I changed to German region with 3g. However, Update failed. So I read, that I can press number 0, so I change back to original region. However, it failed again.
So now: I don't know what I can do... Do you have an idea for me?
My model is: SGPT114DE/S
Hoping, someone can help me
Thank you!!!

Have you tried factory reset?

Thanks for your respond! I would do that, but I don't know how to backup all my apps and reinstall them when I am on ICS. I could use Titanium Backup, but if I don't get ICS rooted, I couldn't install the backup (I think...). Am I correct? Do you maybe have another idea?
Thank you very much!

[Q] Regarding x10 Root update from rooted 024 or lower to 026+root [Solution include]

My current X10i is rooted with R2BA023 and I am wondering if it is possible to update to R2VA026 without wiping all the apps and contacts. If I have to, what are the steps to update to 026. Do I have to use the original root methods all over again? Thanks, I'm still very new to android.
[So, after the experiments and discussion we have concluded the best way to update rooted firmware is to use SEUS with the update option "This option allows you to update your phone with all apps and user information untouched" Then download the one click root APK to root your device, make sure you also downloaded the market fix to ensure full services from the market.]
Link to One click root apk post:

In SEUS you can update without losing your contacts or messages, I have done this at least once.
But I dont remember if the apps were left untouched, I have done to many reflashes since then.
Use SEUS to go to 026 and the the One Click Root to, well, root...
But please, make a backup first, Titanium seems to be useful for this.

thanks! I'm trying the SEUS update right now.
for those who are interested in doing the same thing. I found out you can make seus update only the firmware, keeping all the apps and personal information untouched. I updated from my rooted 023 to official 026 then used the 1click root .apk. Everything worked smooth like silk. In case if anyone is interested in doing the same thing my result was a perfect success. (btw, don't forget to use the market fix)
Just to be sure, I have rooted X10i R2BA023 so I can update it with normal SEUS update procedure without problems? And after update I just run 1click Root and restore with Titanium backup?

The answer would be yes.
Rooting is no problem, but as will89 said, the applications will be kept if you update your phone with SEUS and keeps the user data (there are 2 choices in SEUS).
Please BACKUP ! (at least your vital data, and before..)

Yes, my phone was originally a rooted 023 and I simply updated the firmware through SEUS, the update was fast and smooth. Once it was done, the firmware became the official 026 which then I used the 1 click root apk to complete rooting. Everything worked painlessly and all my contacts and apps remained untouched, though I would suggest you to still make a backup with titanium just in case like what MattiL said

Just got unlocked Gtab and confused on best method for root and cwm

Have searched the threads and did not come up with anything pertaining to unlocked Gtab that seemed to clearly explain( to me) what the easiest methods are to root and apply CWM. The one I did find I found confusing. I am also considering just installing CWM recovery and then installing the new rom with the Touchwiz update which is also rooted. Is this possible to do and what would the easiest method be for installing CWM(I am familair with Odin and remotely acquainted with Nvflash. I would prefer Odin if that is feasible. I found a thread that was for the locked version but am hesitant until I find out for sure that it also works with unlocked device. Also is there a downside to just installing CWM and then having custom rom root the device? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!

download the files in the description
it takes 2 min
when you're done install ROM Manager,
do a nandroid backup if you want and
install the Touchwiz ROM,
after that do the root procedure again if you want root again.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I will try this. Just one last question, if I restore the backup I make before flashing the rom, would I be able to get OTA for official TouchWiz? Or would I have to restore the stock recovery as well? Thanks again!! I hit the thanks buttom as well....
Hmmm that we dont know yet

Ok thanks and I hit the thanks button!!!
When installing the T3rabyte version will all of my installed apps and data still be available or do I need to reinstall everything. Sorry for such a newbie question but it would be a pain to have to reinstall all apps. I assume the OTA would not do a complete factory reset?

[Q] Missing Software Update option in Settings Menu!

Greetings,
first of all my GS2 is running stock 2.3.3, locked/unrooted!
I noticed that there was no "software Update" option in Settings > About Phone..in fact I couldn't find it anywhere!
I then did a factory reset of the phone...still no go. Removed the battery/SIM, rebooted, still nothing.
Will I *still* be able to update via KIES Desktop once the ICS update is available?
Thanks in advance!

I know but I got my phone last august and it was running this version...most GS2 in canada runs this one stock
unrooting
Sorry to reply late but this is same problem I faced. The reason was I unrooted the rooted phone and the unrooter could not recover it completely. What I did is mentioned in following sequence.
1) In January 2012, I rooted the my LG Optimus 2x phone. Installed CWM (ClockWorkMod) and took backup of original ROM and kept safe aside. The rooting was done with SuperOneClick.
2) After that at least 50 times changed various roms like Customized Stock, CM, MIUI, etc.
3) Just last month August 2012, I just wanted to update to new new official stock (V20i) in India so I restored the ORIGINAL ROM from backup in CWM and then unrooted with "R1: Stock Recovery Image - By Paul O'Brien" which was super smooth without any unrooting issue. But now the SOFTWARE UPDATE option is missing. I still dont have solution on this problem may be some expert may suggest the solution.
The most possible reason I can guess here is the UNROOTING methods are not fully recovering the mod signatures.
Whoever are having this problem is possible that they might have purchased the used phone from a person who might have ROOTED it and simply UNROOTED it before selling to next owner. I am not expert and I may be wrong but this is just what I think is possible according to my own experience.

[Q] Tablet stuck durring boot, need help please

Help, my tablet does not boot.
Today, my tablet froze while I've seen a video, it stopped responding to input. I waited about half an hour, if something happened, because this was not, I pressed the reset button.
And now the tablet hangs on boot at the Sony logo.
In early May, before the ICS update in germany came out, I did the US update via Condis tool, rooted and installed initd support to mount the SD card on boot. Then I disabled the Automatic Updates and never run another update.
From time to time, i made an Titantium backup, but but otherwise the root access was unused.
I have now tried it with another reset, no success.
While I still have access to the recovery, a factory reset does not help either.
Ihave not tried to flasch yet because I no longer have acces to the needed file.
Who can help me, how do I get to run the tablet again?
If necessary I do without root.
Thanks for your help

I would try to flash an update. You can now root ICS anyway and then restore wth TB.
Look in my signature update link. There is ICS R1A and R5 for US, either of those will do. Be aware that R5 upgrades the recovery so we can no long make custom ROM's thoug (using AIO).
Good luck

Thanks for the links, i download the files at the moment and will try this.
Just to make sure i understand you correctly, the r1a is rootable the r5 is not?
Update: Ok, i tried both files, but i got an error:
Erohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku

They are both decryptable. Well were for me anyway. But once you flash R5 the recovery changes and you can no longer pre-root future installs.
I have not found a way to restore original recovery.
As for the update failed, try the Germany files also as the region may be still on that.
If still not working, please use adb pull (while in recovery, after failed update) and post file here.
Stifilz
The german file doesn't work.
What exactly do i need to pull?

Oops. Adb pull tmp. You want the recovery.log

Would someone PLEASE answer this?

I posted about a month ago, tried bumping the thread, and still haven't received an answer. I really need help on this.
I rooted successfully with CASUAL in April; for the last month, I keep getting a prompt for a Verizon update. There's no way to make it completely stop; you can only defer it to a later date or hit OK. If I go ahead and hit OK, it boots into TWRP. From there, the install fails.
This was my first root, so I know little to nothing about how this works. Could someone please tell me what I need to do to get the update to install? If I have to re-root, do I do it exactly like I did before? Won't that wipe out all the apps I've downloaded?
Thanks.
Can't you use Titanium Backup?

Like I said, I've never done any of this before. Once I have my stuff backed up, how do I restore my phone to stock? Do I use TWRP to do this? If so, what are the steps?
Thanks for the help!
