My View is rooted S-off and last night my battery life was bad but I had it plugged in so I continued to play with it. I think it finally died and the power button led began to blink. Now I cannot get out of the recovery. If I choose "reboot system now" it goes back into the recovery. If I restore a backup that I had it goes back into the recovery. If I unplug it and reboot, it shuts off and the light stops blinking but I can't turn it back on. When I plug it in again I get the same problem. Please help......what do I do?
I just got my view (used) the battery was very dead. When its that dead. Plugging it in will have the blink orange instead of a solid orange. I couldn't do anything with it till I let it charge up. I let it charge for 16 hours ( with it off) before the light finally went green (the stock charger seems a little wimpy to me).
I would say stick it on the charger (with it off) for 24 hours and see if it just needed a long charge.

I could give that a try but it won't stay off. I try to reboot from the CM recovery and it boots back to the CM recovery and the screen stays on. I can't even restore my nandroid backups because it dies before finishing. I've had it on the charger since yesterday so hopefully that light will stop blinking soon.
Hmmm if it dies.... doesn't that mean the screen is then off?
You could charge it with a different charger. My phone charger charges my view way faster than the stock charger.

So, I did S-Off yesterday, flashed the SU binary yesterday. Did NAND backup for good measure. All great and all.
Today, I wake up and phone is off. Realized I forgot to charge it. Plugged into charger, and orange light comes on, turns off for about 2 seconds, turns on again. 10 minutes plugged in, Pune won't turn on. Took out and licked the battery terminals. It has juice.
Noticed that now the light doing quick flash of orange quick flash of green. None of buttons do anything.
Any ideas?
Leave it charge for about 1 hour, then try to boot up. If you have a battery dock use that, if not just plug in and let it sit.
edit.....i just seen another thread where the phone doesnt charge while off, what recovery are you using? I have the twrp (TeamWin Recovery) and it is charging while phone is off.

The team win recovery. I did a crude battery test (licking terminals) and it should have sufficient juice to boot up
Unplug it and turn it on, its not bricked. But it wont turn on as long as its plugged in.

Weird, did turn on, but power button was weird. Had to push it few times. Booted up, shows about 50% battery

that would be my thread.
It was suggested on that thread that I use a different recovery (using CWM at the moment), but I see that the person who is having this same problem is using TeamWin recovery and has the same issue, so I'm guessing that it's not the recovery itself but some other reason.

I think it has something to do with turning off fast boot. I checked it back, and it worked like it did before.

It's because HTC won't allow charging with the phone off (trickle charge) due to the fact it kills battery cells fast and HTC doesn't like replacing batteries. Keep fastboot on in power menu and you will be able to charge with "phone off"...because it truly isn't off.....

So I took the prime of its box, plugged it into the wall and tried turning it on. When I did, the Android battery indicator screen showed up. The battery was in the red, about a quarter the way up. I've since called Asus about the issue, and they told me to charge it for about an hour. I've done that, and still it doesn't work. It still boots into the same screen. It won't even go into recovery if I hold volume- and power for 10 seconds, just back to the battery screen. I feel like maybe I'M doing something wrong here. Any ideas, guys?

it's gotta charge. mine did that too and i was freaking out. apparently not all tablets are charged. It took about 10 minutes to finally get it to boot up.
If you charge it and it still doesnt...then it might be time to ..worry
I'm only worried because it's been charging for an hour and still just goes to the battery screen, shutting off immediately after. I'll let it charge for a few hours and if it still doesn't work I'll just have to call Asus.
Whoa sorry to hear this. When i plugged mine in it started booting up & went to the home screen. It had 21% battery left on it.So i shut it down & letting it charge the full 8 hours that's recommended before even using the device.I hope yours works.
Make sure the charging light is on
where's the charging light?
its built into the power on button. a tiny little orange led
It's not coming on. When I plug the tablet in, it recognizes that it's plugged in and vibrates, tries to turn onamd fails.
Make sure it is plugged in all the way in the tablet.. and then wait a bit. you must use the wall charger.
It has been plugged all the way into the tablet with the wall charger :-/
Dang! Sorry to hear this. if it doesn't come on within the hour id say just exchange it. it might bea faculty unit. it should have enough juice to boot up by now considering if you charging it properly. Good luck. wish it was working for you because this is a great device.
I am having the same problem too when I first plugged it in the battery indicator screen came on real fast and turned off the orange charging light came on and turned off.I tried plugging into the computer it does nothing diffrent.I think it might bricked.
okay. i just got my primetoday, same deal. it doesn't start, tried to reset, etc. i finally charged it for a while, after a while, it finally boots. at that point it was at the 15% battery life mark.
seems a bit odd.... i would wait and see.. if its game stop they would of had games installed on it.
I just got mine today...woot!!! But the issue that u have happened to me also what it happened was a faulty charger

I tested the charger on my phone and it worked. I plugged into the tablet and pressed the power button the led came on and blinked and turned off quickly.I think the battery needs a good charge.
I had to charge mine until the battery indicator was green before it would turn on. Said in the manual to fully charge before using for the first time... so maybe it doesn't let you start up until charged?
Well after 3 hours of charging it finaly started up but the battery level was low 3% showing that tells me the battery had no charge in it.Well I am happy that it is working and hopefully no other problems show up.
Good to hear
Same exact thing happened to me, lol. Mine arrived with zero charge and I just let it sit for about an hour plugged in and all was well.

I'm on cleanROM 3.7 and everything so far is running GREAT. Recently I wiped the battery stats using Scott's tweaks, of course after a full charge and then unplugging for a full drain without charge, as with other battery calibrations on previous devices I've owned or used. After charging without break, I cannot reach a 100% charge, it stops at 99%. I am now not so sure about charging overnight as I suspect the battery/device might overheat since a 100% charge does not seem to be attainable. Anyone know about this issue?
Does the light go green?

You might want to take a gander at the following post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9777867
Your battery gauge is lying to you (and it's not such a bad thing)
That thread might be useful if it said anything about a 99% charge. Usually the little LED light turns from orange to yellow when it becomes fully charged at 100%. The light is staying orange and will not display 100%, only 99%.

Ok, so I turned my phone off last night before charging and I was able to attain the yellow LED light indication for a full charge but when I power on my device it boots up almost immediately. It skips the HTC screen and goes straight to my custom boot animation and then boots up. When the device boots up any other time I get the white HTC screen and everything like normal.

That's because you have fastboot checked in settings. Pull the battery, put it back in, then charge til green. If its any consolation though my battery does the same thing with the phone on it gets to 99 and hangs, but I've found that if I reboot it while on the charger it will turn green within about 10 minutes of being back on. Usually I don't worry about it being at 100% because when it actually is at 100% it goes back to 99% like 10 seconds after I unplug it. But to sum up, pull the battery b4 you charge and put it back in or uncheck fastboot then power off anand charge.

why pull the battery? why not simply uncehck fastboot??
I try not to ever pull my battery..
adb reboot if needed will work 99% of the time if you're by your computer.

Well I usually just hold the power button and push reboot if the phone needs rebooting. You probably know but you cant also hold power + volume up + volume down for about 5 seconds and it will also reboot itself. I was just trying to tell him the different ways to get the phone to completely turn off. That's why I suggested two different ways. But yes as Andy said, unchecking fastboot should be the easiest way.

So guys.... I woke up this morning and my phone was dead. Last night I plugged it in and it was charging normal (I used a new USB cable and not the one I am using a year now)... Anyway I woke up this morning and I pressed the power button and nothing came up.... I took off its battery and pressed the power button for a bit....then plugged the battery back in and the usb as well.... A dim red light came on....and then the usual charging light came on as well for 2-3 secs...and then it died.
I also tried to plug it on my computer....and the phone turned on and went to HTC white screen for 2 secs and then it turned off as well...
I am not sure what else can I do so if someone has any idea can you please enlighten me....because I am going nuts without my 3D!
The phone is s-off with clockwork recovery and cool ICS rom...and it was working perfectly.
PS: I noticed there are some red stripes on the battery...on the water indicator..is that okay?
That happened to me when my battery was severely drained, I needed a clip charger to charge the battery... Now I do not let my phone go off due to battery drain... Because it will happen again.. I believe that your battery is also degrading.... Just like mine. It is not also advisable that you use a different charger especially if the output power does not match. So don't let it go off again due to battery drain. Just my experience.

I am using that apple charger for like 4 years now on different HTC models...no problem at all... I think that new USB cable did the damage....the phone wasn't charging... and it drained the battery down...

yes please..... because its driving me nuts...that dim red light and the bright one for 2 secs is a kick in the head for me!!! hahaha btw its kinda odd that it tried to start on my computer USB??? it flashed the HTC screen for 2 secs !!
Just install 4EXT recovery as soon as your phone boots and you're good to go without the drain bug forever
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using xda app-developers app
One thing you can do now is really to charge with a clip charger. Unless you want to wait forever charging the battery in the phone. Because your priority is to make your phone boot. When you made your phone boot you can then charge normally.
well guys you are not going to believe it.... I plugged my phone in to its HTC charger and went downstairs to eat...in the mean time...I switched on my tabled GSM module (I have 2 sim cards with the same number...)...so i went upstairs again and called my number to see if my tablet will pick up the call..... and my phone suddenly started ringing! Anyway problem solved with patience!
i was out doing stuff and my Dna ended up dying. so when i got home i noticed that the red notification light wouldn't stop flashing. so i plugged it in to charge and the red notification light still did not go away. so i let it charge the whole night and still the light is flashing but will not boot on. someone please help

Try a different charger/cable
Are you using the original cable? Most HTC phones will do that if the battery is completely dead, you have to let it charge with a charger that is the same or higher amperage than the one it came with. Once the light stops blinking, you should be good to turn it on.
When you say ended up dying, are you meaning it died once, or it died, you turned it back on to try and read a text or get a number till it died again, etc.
I'm asking for a valid reason not just picking on you. But Yeap make sure you're using the OEM stock HTC charger or another charger.
If that doesn't work try the computer. Whatever you do don't keep trying to turn it on until it actually starts charging.
