Which kernel for which rom ? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I opened this thread so everyone can post which kernel do they recomend for their Rom... and to be little more organized bcuz there are many threads for each rom asking about a kernel!
I used the allience kernel 1.5v for I scream sandwich (13 test release) and Ice cream pureness 13.. can anyone tell me a kernel for JellySandwich (FAST)?

Every developer should add a recommended kernel for their rom, period. I
Via Mobile

They should but they dont do it always..

Ice Cream Sunday MOD

Hi!
I installed Icecream sunday mod (which is great btw) but I have an issue with fm radio (it enables bluetooth and also outputs some noise loudly when starting.
I saw that there are some issues in cyanogen related to some kernel version (coolya kernel). I also read that there is a ketut kernel. I am kind of lost in this kernel stuf... Which are these? Where can they be downloaded? Doesn't these mods include the entire kernel already? How can I find which kernel version I am running? I found that many kernels (including stock) are called by abbreviation (which can be confusing)...
Is the mod performance/stability impacted by the previous firmware installed (stock kernel version)? Which parts of the original kernel stay and which are overwritten?
Sorry for the newbie post but I could not find this anywhere...
I don't remember but I think Ice Cream Sunday use Ketut's kernel.
You can find your actual kernel at Settings>About Phone>Kernel Version

as jusada said default one comes with ketut's kernel...
previous firmware does not matter much modem/radio/baseband are things that are used from them.. if anything is unstable like signals then you can flash other radio...
as you can see zip file contains boot.img to be flashed its thing which changes kernel stuffs

[Q] XMP V.6 or CyanoCream Sandwich v2.0?

So guys, I want your opinions about the CyanoCream Sandwich v2.0. I'm using XMP v.6 and it's all ok (but there is a camera bug with the led when recording and the video format after recording ) Anyway, I'm very curios about the CyanoCream but I want to hear some opinions about theese rom's before I give it a shot
(if I killed the grammar, sorry about that lol)
Cyanocream v2.0 has many bugs....check its development page...the creator of the rom has advised to use v1.2.4(correct me if m wrong) for much stabilty...
I guess I'll stay with XMP
Thanks anyway

[Q] No wifi on AOKP?

After using Ice Cream Sony by Krabappel, i wanted to try other roms.
All worked fine, except for AOKP and MIUI4.
When i install these roms (of course i first flash baseband, then kernel, and finally enter cwm to wipe everything and install rom zip) everything works except wi-fi. I can turn wi-fi on, and it finds all the networks. But when i try to connect to a network, it only says 'Saved'. It doesn't even try to connect.
So, how to solve this problem?
thanks!
For clarity, i have installed these combinations:
AOKP Rom - sirkay kernel - baseband 0.70
AOKP Rom - FXP kernel - baseband 0.70
AOKP Rom - FXP kernel - baseband 0.64
(i forgot which kernel i have used in combination with miui)
Ice Cream Sony KA16 - Night Elf Kernel - baseband 0.70 -> works perfect!
UPDATE:
I decided to give MIUI another go, and downloaded the latest MIUI4 release. I installed it, including the NEO Spacious Rom Patch. Baseband is 0.70 and kernel is stock_initd_root_cwm kernel. And everything works now!
So only rom that doesn't work for me is AOKP Rom.
i think it makes more sense if i ask this question in the android development topic.
So this thread can be closed/deleted

[Q] What is the best Rom, kernal etc for fastest running.

Ok, basically a long story cut short. My Xperia Neo is a bit of a mess. I upgraded to ICS but the phone lagged lots and just runs far too slow. I tried downgrading to Gingerbread but I have some weird version with chinese symbols etc. I'm one of these idiot newbs who thought they knew what they were doing but clearly don't.
I tried searching but got confused by all the different roms and kernals available. I was just wondering if someone could let me know what is the best Rom and Kernal for my phone is keep it running sweet.
Thanks lots in advance.

It depends on ur usage All roms on development thread r good
each rom has unique features and styles So depends on ur use
If you don't want any trouble, use any stock based rom.
Im currently checking these out..
JellySandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880321
IceCream Pureness http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737862
both seem good but cant decide which one i want
I'm on JellySandwich with Nightelf Kernel and it's just awesome.
Jellysandwich , Ice Cream Sandwich Pureness
I had both , and both of them on Night Elf Kernel.
I found ICSP very laggy (until I Flashed the JB Adreno Drivers) which made it smoother but is a pretty neat ROM overall (only thing is that I Don't Like those square icons) ,
JS is VERY smooth, with all those JB Adreno and Tegra 3 Scripts , It's really good , BUT the Aroma Installer is a bit confusing , so I've Installed and Reinstalled the ROM quite a very large number of times which made it quite buggering just like rite now, I'm using it (the last update 6.2.5) aaaand I don't have Gtalk , which I selected on the Aroma Installer, but I DONT have it , and I have XDA apk, which I Didn't selected!, and just a few things like that...
Which I Don't like about them both is that I Can't use the Music Info Download in either of them. which is pretty lame.
another Good option is the X-Gamer ROM which I liked a lot, the only thing it lacks is the ICS UI but it's a pretty good ROM.
Overall good gaming performance, and VERY stable.
battery Life was good too. but as I said is a GB ROM so ICS UI is just NOT there...
and about those Chinese things its just because You flashed and CN tft (it's like the official ROM but...for China)
you have to flash the Global .tft (search for it on google , like ... "Official Gingerbread Global Xperia Neo .tft " or something like that )
should arytgma
I'm right now on Ice Cream Pureness 13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738055 and The Alliance kernel 1.5 by Night-Elf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871 and it seems pretty good to me :good:
Try by yourseft
All of custom rom in this forum is very good.
recommended: use GB for NEO/NEOV if you want stable, fast, good battery. Try T0x1c V8 or codename 9.1 rom.

Sony Xperia Ray modding

Hey there, I'm a new member here but I ain't new to rooting, bootloader unlocking etc..
My current phone is as what the title says of course, with CM10 (rooted + bootloader unlocked)
But just today, I came across a very interesting mod created by user "gagan.u20"
Specifically this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38084530&postcount=3
I downloaded all the needed files for the upgrade and I'm going to follow the instructions but I have one question:
1-) for the users who experienced having CM10 and the new Zelly Cream v2.0 on their Xperia phone, which one you think works better than the other ?
and what are the advantages of Zelly Cream v2.0 over CM10 ?
2-)Should I wait for a new Zelly Cream update or not ? and do you recommend any other better ROM ?
Please not again a best rom thread. Just try the one you want, we are not allowed to ask that question
Zelly Cream
Zelly Cream V2.0 with the addons and hot update included in the download list ALL ROCK TOGETHER !
In my opinion as a user it's way better than CM10 or any other CM

Hey,
Thanks for your welcome party AJ, since this is my first day as a user in this great site (been using lots of stuff since a while but I just signed up today)
By the way, would appreciate any help on enabling wifi for xkernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23564367&postcount=5
(don't know what line I should put the line of the wifi code in & don't know what the values should be "INSERT INTO secure (name, value) VALUES ('wifi_country_code', 'JP');")
Sincerely..
P.S. I take back what I said, no ROM is better than another and no kernel is better than another, every ROM and every kernel has its advantages and disadvantages but my personal opinion who never asked me for is that I love Zelly Cream more.
hard work not harwork
@AJ : By the way, nice contributions man.

Didn't wanted to be rude but now-a-days nearly all newbies are asking about best kernel or ROM even when there is a sticky in general section clearly stating that we can't ask that....Saying i'm new is just an excuse...even newbies have access to read the rules and follow them...:good:
Best Regards,
AJ
