No Media Device - USB Charging only - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone!
Last time I fell my phone on a bowl of Noodle with oil. Well the phone got wet on the usb port part. It didn't charge anymore after the incident. But after drying it, it can charge again both on my PC and the Adapter.
My problem now is my PC doesn't detect it as a media device anymore no signs of driver missing (KEIS is installed and reinstalled, still no luck), but the phone is charging.
Was this caused by the incident?
Odin, Samsung Galaxy S3 Toolkit, and KEIS can't connect to my phone anymore....
Any suggestions? Thanks

update:
I tried connecting, and managed to install drivers automatically in Windows 7 using download mode.
My phone was detected using ODIN.
But still problem remains on mounting as media device.

Question about charging

Hi dears
I have some problem about charging. First of all I am using neatrom lite + jeboo v1f rebase. The problem is when I plug in my phone for charging my phone detects it few minutes later and same when I unplug the phone. Another thing is connecting the phone to computer by usb cable. Sometimes I can see my phone in my computer but sometimes my pc give error that unknown device connected.
What do u think about this? What could be the main problem for that. In my opinion my phone's plug area.

You could try and re-install the Samsung USB Drivers.
If that doesn't work then try to completely wipe KIES and the installed drivers from your computer and then re-instlling it from samsung.com.
That should work since Kies has had an update, but if it doesn't, then indeed it's the USB inserter in your phone (don't know what it's called ) which is the problem.

[Q] Make windows 7 detect S3 in download mode

I've searched around a few threads but not having much luck on this. I've started on a different computer totally from scratch several times and it just doesn't recognise that the phone has been plugged in. It's really quite irritating as the ODIN CF root method is literally 5 clicks and should take about 10 seconds to do.
I plug the phone into my PC while it's on and it detects it as the USB device and I can go into the folders and copy music on etc etc.
I switch it to download mode, plug it in and it does sod all. No windows beep to say it's plugged in a USB device. If I open ODIN then plug it in it's not doing the COM added.
I've tried installing then uninstalling kies then rebooting, installing just the USB driver, uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting. Just NOTHING seems to make my PCs detect that I've plugged the damn phone in when it's in download mode. It should be such an easy process but I'm left banging my head against the wall mid way through because it just refuses to acknowledge the device. I unplug, switch it on, plug back in and there it is, device connected. I've tried different computers, different USB ports. It doesn't show up in device manager even.
So my question: any idea as to why it will detect when the phone is on normally, but will not even think it's plugged in when switch on in download mode? And of course, how to fix it would be useful!
OK I fixed it.
I uninstalled the USB driver and restarted.
Downloaded/installed a new USB driver (specifically SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.23.0-retail).
Went to download mode and it picked it up straight away! ODIN worked in 10s as expected.

My S4 wont connect to my computer... help

A few months ago I downloaded kies and went through all the steps to root my phone no problem. When I went to root my wife's brand new out of the box phone it would not recognize her phone and further more when I plugged mine back in it didn't recognize it as a device.
1. The computer does not recognize that anything (either s4) is plugged in, but it does charge. I checked multiple cables and even connected a different type of phone with my cable and it worked fine.
2. USB debug mode is enabled and had been turned on and off.
3. I have uninstalled all the drivers and kies and re installed them. Still nothing.

[Q] Phone is not recognized in download mode (hardware problem)

Hi guys, i realy need your help, my phone is dead.
My I9100 worked fine for two years, I flashed lots of custom firmwares by Odin. Half a moth ago, when I was going to sleep, I plugged in the charger as usually, and noticed, that it started beeping occasionally. On the display it indicated smth like: Charging... than Not Charging... than Charging and so on.
I thought that I plugged the charger incorrectly and replugged it, but it didn't helped. I was very tired and just simply turned the soud off and left the phone charging. In the morning it indicated that it is charging even when the charger was unplugged.
So I've flashed the firmware - no help, than kernel from stock to fillz - no help , than siyah than again to stock - no help. All flashings were maid via CWM. I realized that flashing will not help when I turned off the phone and it was indicating that it is charging.
I decided not to do anythig. Only USB mode didn't worked because when you want to use your phone as USB you should open the apropriate mode on the phone than there will be smth like : plug the USB data cable to enter the USB data transfer mode. I couldn't do this because my phone thought that the cable is already plugged. In forums i've got hints that my micro usb should be cleaned or small board should be replaced. So i decided to clean it. I disassembled the phone and cleaned that board with micro USB. Than turned on the phone, and connected the cable. Phone recognized it and I managed to transfer files from pc to phone. From this point I can say that all terminals on micro USB are ok.
When i unplugged the cable, phone thought that it is plugged((
The most awful part:
I decided to flash it one more time and go to stock via backup made by CWM a year ago.
But during this process the phone made a reboot by itself and after that there was no loading. I can see only name of the device and thats it.
No recovery. Only download mode.
When i connect it to PC in download mode, there is a sound that USB is connected but the device is Unknown. There is no any information about this device in dev manager on PC. I tried two USB cables, all usb ports, two laptops, all versions of USB drivers for my phone.
Earlier, drivers worked well, but now i can't understand where is the problem: Is the problem still connected with my micro usb port or i just erased boot sector and it is already brick.
I gave my phone to service center, they told that they can't help me with this. They say that usb is ok, we don't know why it is not detecting by pc.
Can the board replacement help in this issue or maybe i can do smth. in linux with my device ??? I'll appreciate any suggestions.
Yesterday I talked to representatives of service center and they told me that the problem is that internal memory is damaged and they cant flash the phone.
I took the phone and tried to flash it via Heimdall with brick fix pit.
After using this pit file, the phone was flashed normally and even turned on normally.
But in the phone info menu I saw no any data about internal memory. (It was damaged and required format). I tried format through phone menu and it did nothing.
I decided to flash the phone via Odin with normal 16 GB pit file and had a bad luck. I experienced freez during repartition. After this, phone is a complete brick.
When I connect it to PC without battery pressing vol down and rower buttons it connects as unknown device but there is nothing on the phone display. No recavery no download mode. Nothing - just reflection of my frustrated face).
Currently i'm tring to make a Jtag, maybe it'll put it in the download mode, but hope is dying....
I've herad somewhere that it is possible to put it in the download mode in linux. If somone did this, could you please give me the contact of this person?

[Q] No Download Mode Detection Galaxy S3 I9300 O2 UK [FIXED]

Hi, first post here.. so Hi
I have an issue with my S3, i can't get my pc to detect it in download mode at all, no reaction from windows.. if didnt plug it in to the pc at all, it worked once, and it took me reinstalling drivers for hours to get it working, this is when i first rooted the phone using the cf-root method..
When i wanted to install a custom rom a few months ago i discovered it went back to not getting detected and has stayed that way
it's as if i've not connected it to the pc at all, i'm using a rear usb port, with the original cable, below is a short list of what i've tried
Tried 3 different cables
Used a brand new install of windows 7 with SP1
tried various Samsung ADB Drivers
Tried every single USB port, front and back on my pc
Used as many different USB Debugging options as possible
I noticed that when i turn on USB debugging after enabling developer mode, nothing changes on the pc, if i remember rightly my S2 made windows install the adb driver when i turned USB debugging on..
Any help is appreciated with this, never had any of this happen with my S2 lol :/ i've been messing around on and off the last few months with it, thankfully there's Mobile Odin and also Nandroid backups for me to fall back on
Pulling the battery with the cable plugged in while my S3 was in download mode is what fixed this for me...
With the usb cable plugged into the PC but NOT the phone, go into download mode.
Connect cable to the phone, then pull the battery out.
Once windows detects the phone and installs drivers it's safe to put the battery back in.
Phone will be detected by Odin/ CyanogenMod installer and so on.
Why in hell having the battery in stops windows detecting the phone in download mode is beyond me.. unless samsung did it on purpose? lol..
Installed CM 11 using the above method and it went perfectly, but i do have to use the above method whenever i want to flash something using my pc, so it's more of a work around than a fix..
Fix was found on YouTube of all places! hope this helps anyone else
