[Q] openAOS.org down? Any mirrors for files? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to install final "bull" release for Gen8 but openAOS.org is down and I can't seem to find any other place to get the files announced here: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archo...ngerbread-update-gen8-openaos-cm7-final-bull/
Updated CyanogenMod7 files for Archos Gen8 on OpenAOS web site:
kernel_gen8_20120409_002900.tar.gz (contains initramfs.cpio.gz, zImage and modules archive)
openaos-gingerbread-bull-gen8-121502.img.gz
gen8_data.img.tar.bz2 (image file space for data 256MB, 512MB and 1GB, rename to data.img)

I have an older version on my 101 Gen8 that has massive problems with the number of app due to 256MB limitation, even more than stock fw. Do I understand the gen8_data.img.tar.bz2 - file right as being an easy way to lift app-filespace to 1GB?
Also from the description it sounds promising that this version seems to have included the partial UBS-failure-fix from the newest stock fw.
Any input on these issues anyone?

openaos.org is down due to hardware problems. The owner is waiting for new parts to arive. I will ask him when he expects it will be up and running again.
gen8_data.img.tar.bz2 will only increase data storage for gingerbread (CM7) not for the original firmware.
It will fix usb host when booting into stock android from openaos multiboot menu, you will need to flash the kernel which comes with the download.
USB host, slave and mounting the sdcard (not internal storage) on your pc will work on the next CM7 release Crow.

Good to know, then I'll just wait.... Increasing storage for CM7 ist just what I need, I want to make CM7 my default because GB is so much better on the 101...
The next release sounds even better... :good: This makes the tablet sincerely usable again...

It seems it will take some more time then the owner expected. In the meantime he did put up a maintenance page, so people know what is going on. http://www.openaos.org

USB host is a big thing and its working, the anticipation got bigger now.

Hello
Since the site is down, does anyone happen to have the MultiBoot Gen7 instructions?
I have to do a resinstall on my Archos 5IT. I saved the wrong instructions.
Thanks

openAOS.org down
Pls, have anyone some news, how long will be openAOS.org down?
Or have anybody mirror of files mentioned in first post?
Thanks a lot.

I just spoke with the owner. Parts are delivered, but still some work needs to be done to get everything up and running. He hopes the site will be up again this weekend, but no promisses.
We do this as a hobby aside from our regular job.

I know is been asked but can someone post a link to the latest boot menu and Cyanogen files? Like a dropbox account ?

Thanks

Mike
This should be the latest kernel files
http://letitbit.net/download/58233.5de2303aa643b21ab6caa6c8d86d/Gingerbread.zip.html
And I think this is the right image(may be one I built - so not sure if it boots as have extracted it to a partition on my A70S) due to my linux partition dying I don't have anything newer - so hope these work for you.

Thanks a lot It looked like the standard "slow download for free" - but then it requested a premium for € 2,90 anyway...
Box is much better; downloading...
Is there an installation manual somewhere inside XDA? I did this some time ago but forgot the details... I have a GB and latest stock-ROM on the 101 with multiboot. Though the booter is kind of messed up, I once chose the shortest wait-time by accident and now it won't let me go back to a humanly usable value... I hope to fix that by installing this freshly...

Not sure if there is a manual anywhere, but on my A70S I have to hold Vol- down whilst powering on, you then get a mini menu from which you can get to the recovery menu -> developer edition menu.

Always.
Yes, the idea is what counts.
Since when has it been the standard to post un-checked un-verified and non working files here?
Dangerous is what it is. Lucky this is a sony with barely any user base, if this was posted on the galaxy forums there would be hundreds of possibly messed up phones out there...
I have a sony Tablet S but I can not test this procedure because they are not home. I'm off to work and I will have to stay for a few months so if anyone of good will could test this method and send the results would be happy. @ Condi if the compilation and wrong could you fill it in right way so as to have the root?

I'm getting a TG01 prototype?

I'm getting a Toshiba TG01 for free from a friend tomorrow.
He says it is a prototype.
So, now I'm wondering if I can get a working decent build of android on it. I'm coming here with only HTC Dream experience. I'd like to know how Android is doing on this phone. Is it possible to somehow dual boot it? Just in case something doesn't work on Android and does on WM?

Hi
Now it finally works - I mean the download android_tg01_1.7z
And I also managed to download a second file android_tg01_3.rar
which extract to ...tg01_2
Now android starts on my TG01
Android 2.2.1 Kernel 2.6.32.15
But nevertheless the wifi don´t work - and that is what I am looking for.
( I have a device that connects to a android wifi, or Iphone wifi)
what a pity

Usually whatever is on git it's source code.
And if you don't know what build is, you don't know how to build
But never mind, seems like you found the built files.

WLAN don´t work with android
I quit my attempt for TG01 and android wifi.
Markinus, who is AFAIK the expert, mention 25th September 2011, that WLAN an BT don´t work.
And his last entry in GITORIOUS was September 17 2011.
So I don´t think Android and wifi work on the TG01.
In Android wifi is part of the kernel, and has a driver and a firmware IIRC, so thats triple the porting.

Yes, I did this. Got a MODE CM 00000 error or similar.
And now CLRCAD is no longer executable xD
I'm gonna put Android off for later, because I have another big programming contest going on right now.
Once I'm done with that, imma build my own Android.
Also, I was asking about windows ROMs.

I think this link can help you. (maybe)
About the CLRCAD, there will nothing happen after you tap it, you just tap it is ok.
About the error, maybe you can format you SD-card and try again.

ahaq is this your guide as I notice your name appears to bear some relationship to the writer's ?
The moboot is outdated , the rom and gapps should be renamed to begin update- then they won't need to be installed after boot.
Not sure about using a Rom that the developer has said will not be regularly updated and doesn't actually include camera and gallery .
I hope the writer of the article got oats permission to use his Rom and links.
Otherwise a well written piece .

If your installing via your recovery cwm or TWRP you don't need to rename anything it's only necessary when using acme and a cminstall folder.

I am not saying it's a bad rom, just oats has said it won't be updated unless there are major changes. There are several different Roms in the developer's section . You should try them for yourself but I would suggest that unless you put links to the developer's thread that you are best of using ones that updates can easily be checked for with something like Goo Manager .
One question from me when I right click on my Palm ,Inc folder I do not see an option for command prompt ,how do I enable it running Windows 8?(Solved )
Reread your post ,neat trick .

There is a UK version for SGP312 in development section, but I'm not flashing that either. You lose your TV providers for built-in remote control app, and some other US specific apps and settings. There are millions of people with this tablet in US - I'm amazed that no one wants to help. Very much unlike XDA.

It's because most of the people don't bother modifying tablets unless they're Asus or Sammy tablets. Sony tablets and phones really aren't that popular, in the US, yet in the modding community cause they had crap products for years and now that their products are good and they're offering the best support out of any of the other OEMs.

Hi guys,
Can anyone provide a flashable 10.1.C.0.370 FIRMWARE for SGP312 US Version? (32GB, Wifi only). CWM flashable file prefered, but I guess .ftf file will do as well. Thanks in advance

XDA doesn't allow 4shared as a file host. Could you use another like mega or Google Drive or dev-host? I'm not the one behind the link being deleted (in case you were wondering ), just chiming in about the file hosts thing

I delete the file last night and re-uploaded it this morning (too tired to re-upload last night). The link should work for you now. I apologize for the inconvenience.

On several occasions in XDA's Sony Tablet S forum, I used 4shared URLs as a file download source and the forum's participants could download the files without problem (except for the registering thing and free download speed).

I deleted the file last night because I did not like the bump it hit during its first upload. I was too tired to upload the file again last night, so I waited until this morning to re-upload the file. The download URL appears to be working now. I apologize for the confusion.

Yes, 4shared is not really recommended precisely because of the registration requirement. It's much preferred if you use one without such a requirement, like mega, Google Drive or dev-host

Thanks for the information. I have never used dev-host, so I will investigate and if possible, upload the file there.
Edit: I joined Dev-Host and donated $25.00. Big mistake! Worst web site interface ever! And slow! After four failed attempts, I am now trying to upload the file a fifth time.
2nd Edit: Finally got the file uploaded to Dev-Host. Took 3.5 hours. Unbelievable!
It still requires registration, in order to download. I'm not going to register with my real email on a public web share like that, just to download a file. If someone could upload the firmware to a host with no restrictions - would be very much appreciated
@Cat McGowan: can you post a MD5 for the file, to make sure it didnt get corrupted during upload? Thx

I uploaded the file to Dev-Host. I changed the URL and added the MD5 Sum to my OP.
Thank you very much. People like you are an asset to the XDA community....I will test it and will post the firmware to the development section, along with the instructions on how to flash FTF files
I lost root after flashing the update. Still investigating...
UPDATE: After flashing LK bootloader TWRP 2.6 started to work and it's so smart it recognized I don't have root and offered to install SuperSU and root the device without me even doing anything. After doing all that my device is rooted again and running .370 update + newest TWRP 2.6.0.0. Mad props to TeamWin. I will post the firmware and instructions in the dev section after I wake up

I lose root access every time I re-install the firmware (done several times using Sony Mobile's Update Service), but I expect to lose root access because Sony Mobile's Update Service does a "clean install". Losing root is no problem for me because I can quickly and easily regain root access using DooMLoRD's XTZ Easy Rooting Toolkit.

I appreciate the update and details of your actions taken. I am going to avoid doing anything beyond gaining root access until Sony releases their official version of Android 4.2 or better.
DooMLoRD's XTZ Easy Rooting Toolkit didn't work for me on this .370 update, but since it's possible to flash custom recovery like TWRP - that's no biggie. TWRP handled gaining root access very nicely. I highly recommend LK bootloader, now that I've played with it for a while. Right now it's the only way to run TWRP 2.6, which is awesome.
I created a thread in DEV section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363932

[Q] How to get proprietary binaries

Hello,
I have a 'teclast p81HD' Chinese tablet, which was released with Android 2.3 and later they released 4.0.1.
It is based on RockChip RK2918 CPU
CPU: Cortex A8 1G
RAM: 512 MB
Since Android 4.4 has just been released, I was thinking to compile it from source code and flash it to the device.
By following this guide, every thing should be easy.
One problem is, I don't have the "proprietary binaries", but I have the stock img file of 4.0.1. Is there a way to extract the binaries from the img file ?

Update: the link for the tablet was updated with a more descriptive one.
Can you explain more, what is 4PDA. Is it the Russian site, because I can't understand Russian.
appreciate your time and effort.

I used Google translate and found version 1.3.2, but the links are dead.
If you have any working links can you post them.
thanks again.

Nice one, going to sound a bit silly this but where do you put the .img file for the software to unpack it?

1. move your *.img file in "_In" folder
2. open Runme.bat in cmd
3. run the "init Tools" command
4. Confirm the copy request
It will then create two folders "Pack" and "Unpack". According to your command the new files will be created in the respective folder
i.e. If you choose to unpack the img file, new files will be created in the "Unpack" folder
hope that helps
NIce one, will give this a try and see how i get on, thanks again.
