Why the hell is it that every time I update the CM10 nightly, the screen sensitivity is screwed up, so I am forced to flash Devil Kernel which does fix the problem, but it invariably causes the phone to get stuck in a recovery boot loop? ****ing Devil Recovery, man. It's more trouble than it's worth. The only way I can get out of the mess is to Odin flash CWM4, then reflash CM10, then reboot. But this replaces the kernel. So again, I'm stuck with either just living with the touch screen issue or trying to flash the kernel again. Any ideas?
Yep devil kernel srews me every time I flash it LOL
Is anybody else getting tired of the one post every 5mim bull**** dangit im not a noob

I think devil runs well on aokp rom. I'm running 4.1.2 with 1.6.1 devil. The early versions of devil on aokp were not kind to me though.
Yeah,,, I've been fine with devil kernels,,, currently on aokp 10/7 with devil 1.6.1 and prior aokp 9/27 w/ 1.5.2
Both have been fine, never ran stock kernels

On AOKP Devil seems to work a lot better, at least from my own experiences. I've had bad luck with Devil on CM10 which sucks because I really like Devil and I prefer CM10 as my daily driver. It started off okay, but after a few days I started to have random reboots and sometimes the phone would just shut off. I'm on the stock kernel for CM10 now with no problems, and battery life is actually pretty great so I don't think I'll try Devil for a while longer.
Good info to know, thanks

I really don't use devil that much anymore I just stick with the kernel the rom came with. latest builds been fine to me iam on eclipse 2.1 right now and it's great

I am currently running CM7 nightlies on my Incredible and it is running flawlessly. With that said, my brothers wife has had a terrible time with her stock Facinate on Verizon. I would like to install CM7 on her phone since I have had such a good experience with it on my Incredible.
How is CM7 on the Facinate? Any issues/limitations? Any certain build or kernel suggestions?
Thanks!
I ran CM7 for about 2 weeks. It's stable, which is a good thing. I like the themes option.. but for me.. it just wasn't fast enough.. don't get me wrong, it's quick and responsive, and it does not lag... my speed concerns is after bootup or reboot... it seems to take forever for everything to load and run right. Also, I found the Market (which is only available via seperate flash) lost it's connection more than once, and I had to reboot several times to get it to work.
This is the main reason I dumped CM7 for the Fascinate. I need my stuff to work.. plain and simple.
I went back to stock froyo ED05 2.2.2, then updated through VZN update to Gingerbread 2.3.5. Then Rooted the phone using superuser.zip below. I ODIN'd CWM Recovery, and flashed SU to root (see attachments) and then flashed the KGB Kernel located here. (The lastest is 12.12, but I don't like it as much as the 11.27 version.. maybe it's the smiley face boot screen that got me)
I couldn't ask for a better setup. Running ADW Launcher EX... smooth as a babies bottom and everything works as it should.
I hope this help you mate.
If she doesn't know what CM7 is I wouldn't install it for her. Last I checked, there are still some issues. Phantom ring is one where you get a loud ringtone in the earpiece after you answer a call every now and then. When I was running it, I had to toggle airplane mode sometimes to get back 3G data. It's mostly very functional but there are little things like that.
For a non power user just go with the EH03 debloated ROM or maybe superclean.
CM7 with glitch kernel v13 runs pretty much flawless for me. Imo its the fastet setup you can put on the fascinate right now(when its setup correctly)...pool party is another good one. I have tried every current rom/kernel and I keep coming back to this setup. I do prefer go launcher ex over the adw, w/ ICS theme. Up until 2 months ago TW was all I ran because mtd roms still had some bugs. Now that MTD is fully functional it was a no brainer to make the switch!

He could also Odin the EH03 based Geewiz (which is a debloat of stock EH03 with nothing added) or flash Superclean 3 which is a debloat + a bit more. Either way he will get a rooted setup nearly identical to yours with a lot less steps and no super slow OTA download. =)
As for your reports on CM7...that is a bit strange. CM7 is almost universally considered faster and more responsive than the Touchwiz releases. Personally, I preferred Sbrisens Pool Party when I used a mtd ROM which can be found over at rootzwiki. And while I'm on the subject of rootz, Awesome Sauce is another excellent Touchwiz based ROM if you would prefer to stay on something gcloser to Samsung's releases.
Thanks for all the suggestions!

I actually took your advice on this one as well. I'm now running CM7.1 Stable with Glitchv13 kernel. It seems to run a lot more stable with the glitch kernel... so far so good.
I also bounce between Go Launcher, adw, LLP, and the Espier (iphone)... lol Thanks agian.

Not from my experience. I am running the latest nightly and still get phantom ring every now and again. Its a small price to pay for the features added from this great ROM!
I got the phantom ring running CM7.2 RC0, Glitch13.
Have to have Glitch for the in-call volume bug.

+1 mine works awesome Except for the occasional phantom ring

The phantom ring is getting so bad that I'm going to have to ditch CM7. I can't have my phone stuck phantom ringing when on silent during business meetings.
This is ridiculous, someone please help.
As much as I love all the features, it's pretty annoying when a phantom ring goes off in class
Are you guys using the stock kernel or glitch? I honestly don't know if there are any changes in the glitch kernel that would effect phantom rings, but I only had one phantom ring in my time on CM7 (using glitch).
I'm coming from every version of glitch including test. They never went away. Trying CM7.2 RC kernel as my last chance.
if CM7 isnt snappy enough for you i would definitely recommend OMGB, I used that for awhile and it was great.
I'm on TSM Resurrection, with KGB. Amazing battery life compared to stock and CM7. Zero issues so far except BLN that gets stuck on.
I have no idea why CM7 is so pitiful on the Fassy.

cm7 was far from pitiful...cm9 poops on touchwiz.
Yeah but stuff doesn't work like in cm7 the latest gapps don't offer Google voice or voice to text from the keyboard. I believe I had the same issues with cm9... along with lags and freezes. I'd go to cm7 in a heartbeat if I can get the voice text work in SMS. Just imho

I am raising the BS flag on this post! I had TTS working flawless on makelegs cm7.2 skang and have it working flawless on glitched aokp 35.1...matter of fact its worked since the early THS builds.
I checked the suggested threads and didn't find this .. so apologies if I'm repeating this question.
I have Shostock2 ICS rom installed w/ the cherrypicker kernel and the phone has frozen up on me a couple of times:
1 - in the car dock while I was on a webex meeting while driving to work. The screen wouldn't come out of sleep and the buttons wouldn't respond. Had to reboot.
2 - in the home dock while I was sleeping; same thing happened and the alarm didn't go off b/c the phone froze.
Outside of that it has been fine, but any idea why I'm getting these random freezes?
Thanks,
Praz
Try flashing siyah 3.2.2 with nmswap. Worked for me.

Hey guys, I was going to make a new Thread but I guess this will work here....
So, I've been on ShoStock 1.9.4 GB rom for a while not with Siyah Kernel and absolutely love this setup.... After getting that Msg from ATT about the Official Release of ICS I figured why the hell not and go form GB to ICS.
Well Instead of running the Official setup, I decided to use ShoStock2 ICS latest version.
First the install went smoothly GREAT as everyone has been saying... SetCpu installed and let it at Ondemand 1.6ghz. Then I surely, I would occasionally get force closes, and/or random freezes. So I decided to do a full wipe like a brand new phone... install again and STILL same problem... phone would freeze.
So I did it ONE last time but this time no install of anything just the Rom w/ cherrypicker and sure enough the phone wasn't have issues. I looked on the forum and people had similar issues, so someone suggest, try a different Kernel.
Coming from GB i loved the Siyah Kernel, I decided to download the ICS Siyah Kernel. Same thing, phone runs perfect no issues... I instaleld S voice and no problems there either. Sometimes the launcher would lag a bit but no problem. But when I go to install SetCpu and set it to 1.6ghz, all hell breaks looks and either random restarts, to freezing the phone. What's the deal?
I decided to uninstall and restore back to ShoStock 1.9.4 GB Siyah Kernal. Did I miss something about not overclocking ICS?
---------- Post added at 03:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 AM ----------
Oh... I also had another problem...
I noticed that the ShoStock2 Rom is on Apex Launcher 1.2.1 or something,, I kept getting that Update notification saying that there's a 1.2.3 or so. When I tried installed... it says it'll replace the current one I said Yes... Installs, says it's done and i click Open, and check the version I'm on and it's still 1.2.1..
Do I not update it this way?
All phones/hardware are not created equally. That being said, I can assure you if you incrementally overclock your phone you will find what your phone is capable of without FC's. The same goes for undervolting. Take baby steps.

I'm currently running cm7.1, and really love it. I'm also really curious about trying out the ics roms and don't know which one to try. has anyone run both? which one did you like most and why? also, if I do a nandroid backup, is that the same as a windows image backup? ...meaning I can reinstall cm7 and glitch kernel, then flash my nandroid backup and be right where I was before I changed anything?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &
Read the Forum Rules Ref Posting
Thanks ✟
Moving to Q&A
Yes you can restore a nandroid like you said as long as you are on the same ROM.
This is kind of an opinion, but I prefer Teamhacksung, as it is clean and bug-free.
ok cool. sorry about being in the wrong forum at first. so one for team hacksung, anyone else? I just want opinions as I don't think I have the time to try all the ics roms right now
aokp is by far the most solid ICS rom. its more how cyanogen use to be....lots of options to customise. THS cm9 is vanilla, meaning barebones.

This subject is opinionated and the OP should install both for a day to determine what he likes better.
Personally I used AOKP for the last six months, Yesterday I switched to CM9 experimental Linaro Build.. In my views way better than aokp..

Why?
i have the infuse but i started off using aokp switched to cm9 its been about a month.. goin back 2 aokp as of now cm9 isnt like cm7, i like tweaking and customizing as much as possible and i love the navigation bar aokp has..
Ok cool I think I'm about ready to try some out. One last question, I keep seeing things about how it's not easy to got back to cm7 from ics? Can someone give me some insight on this incase I don't like ics? Something with the different file types? I also want to keep my eh03 radio if I do end up going back to cm7
I'm now a little confused, after reading the guide for installing ROMS, in particular the ICS ones, arent all the ICS Roms based on what is stated- MTD CM9? So is there a difference aokp vs cm9? I guess what would be the large differnces between any two for example? Different kernels?

well i got impatient and went ahead and did it lol. i went with aokp 40.1 and devil kernel .79. the first try was a disaster, what seemed to work went straight to crash and reboot when waking from the lockscreen. i thought it was my oc i was messing with so i turned it back to stock volts and frequencies. low and behold it did it again but this time would not boot up, would not flash anything from recovery, would not format anything from recovery, it was totally bricked. i even tried reflashing cwm though odin and it was a no go.
finally after a few hrs of gathing info, i flashed the stock froyo rom and it unbricked it and i tried aokp again. this time i used aokp build 40, and devil kernel v.72 and everything is beautiful and works perfect, rock solid stability with 1200mhz multiplier oc, 110% fsb oc on liveoc totaling 1362mhz i think. the ics launchers suck and are laggy for me, i dunno why but go launcher is smoooootthhh and so is everything else on the phone. i cant find anything that doesnt work, im not regretting this or looking back at all, thanks a bunch for the help guys. im also pretty sure its snappier and quicker than cm7.2 was for me on my 1.3ghz overclock and glitch 13.1

ive seen it but was a little wary of it lol. for those wondering and addicted to voodoo color... at first i was worried i would loose the deep color and gamma control that i have with voodoo color, but the device color options do a really good job with it and there is a gamma control and it works great, no washed out colors or anything of that nature. im pretty hardcore on my vivid colors so i have the gamma maxed out minus a tad of green but it looks great.. to me.
for the guy who originally mention v0.85, so far its working great, cleared cache, dalvik, and ran ultimate kernel cleaning script then installed and it seems to be running great. the only thing now is the long term stability test, over a week ive had zero freezes FCs, or any issues with .72, i hope i can get this with .85. it seems a little snappier and nandroid is working again. thanks a bunch for the link, a few hours of searching for it and google still didnt help me. ill get back to everyone on the stability of it for me, running 110% fsb oc on nstools and slightly undervolted. im sure theres a ton of info already on other threads but ill still report back. thanks guys
edit: im still having issues with bln, is there a quick fix with it? it worked right away with my botched install of 40.1 and .79 kernel, witch was completely unstable, but now on 40, and .85 its still not working, any ideas? also on first boot from cold soft keys were unresponsive but seem to be working now. im not complaining as i know there are newer versions of the devil kernel but im trying to find a very good balance of functionality and stability.
hi,
I want to know if anyone got this kind of problem or not and will be good if someone have the solution.
My S2 always turn off by itself (NOT reboot) when i flash custom kernel like dorimanx and siyah.
I running rootbox latest with stock kernel (cm kernel) for a week already but never had this kind of problem but when i flash another custom kernel like dorimanx and siyah, phone will turn off by itself about 4-5 times a day.
Sometime when on dorimanx, phone will turn off when i try to on/off the screen many times.
Anyone got solution for this? I really miss BLN from these 2 kernel :crying:
Thanks.

It's called sleep of death (sod). It happens when using an experimental kernel like dorimanx, when the team tries to advance the development. If you are on Rootbox and want to run dorimanx, try 9.14/9.16 as I hear they are the most stable right now

I think it has more to do with not stock kernels. But there are prices to modding/flashing roms. Working out bugs is one of those prices.

You mean now, in the JB era, but rootbox has had troubles since ICS, at least, as I recall.

Hi guys I have'nt found much information on this forum regarding the intermittent lag/crashes on G2s that I'm experiencing (d802 version specifically) running kitkat aosp ROMs so I thought I might report my experience to see if I'm not alone here.
After I upgraded from CM 10.2 to CM11 my device would start lagging at random times during the day followed itevitably by a crash mostly after about 3 minutes of use (messaging, browsing, youtubing etc) where the screen would freeze and go black (and eventually come back.)
A reboot was always necessary which resolved the problem temporarily. These crashes happened between 1-3 times per day and were extremely frustrating.
The device in question is a d802 running CM11 and stock kernel.
They happened after fresh installs, even with only system apps. I tried flashing a custom kernel, playing with different settings and switching to other kitkat ROMs with little to no change.
I finally bit the bullet and switched back to CM10.2 stable and all is well with my phone now. I couldn't make the phone lag if I tried, its back to its beasty glory.
This device clearly must have an issue with Aosp ROMs on kitkat (or maybe I just picked a bad one) and its a real shame. If anyone has the same problem please share your experiences and maybe we can get to the bottom of this thing

I'm using omni. Without any issues at all. No freezes or anything like that.
Tried PA and CM11, both really buggy, just like the op described. Flashed cm10.2 but it just doesnt work with my fitbit so now ive gone back to stock. While stock is good, it just feels so sow compared to asop based roms.
If you want a AOSP rom really hard, try "Mahdi" rom.. i tried it for a day and it fits perfectly for me
But now i'm on stock rom (CloudyStock) because... it's awesome and i like the LG UI
Using Mahdi combined with the furnace kernel, no slowdowns and very rarely do I get random reboots. Highly suggested :good:
I have these freezes several times a day too. I noticed one time that my systemui stopped working with it
my guess: maybe it has something to do with the systemui?
CM11 ran great for me on my D801, but I just couldn't deal with the in call echo issue.

blame closed source drivers. the devs making these customs pull hattricks so you can have a custom rom. All without documentation and such, thats why they can be buggy.
