[Q] after update to JB play store fail - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hi Guys,
I flash to the AOKP JB rom yesterday and last night i updated to the newest version from the AOKP OTA Updater (version 3.0.1). Now the current version for my phone is i777 JB build 9.28.2012.
Now here is my problem. I go to work, as usual check my play store. but it will not open. I click on it, it will disappear right away. It didn't even gives me no connection message or anything.
Here is what i have done.
- Clear the cache, no help
- clear the cache and force stop, no help
- uninstall and reinstall, same issue persist.
- restart my phone after clear cache, restart my phone after uninstall, restart my phone after install.
Nothing really help the situation.
I'm wondering if anyone out there have the same problem as me after the update. or maybe it's not the update issue. something that i have done wrong??

OP of that Rom states... You gotta flash Gapps after every update.

Unfortunately, settings has stopped

I have an i777, with ICS 4.0.3. It's an AT&T ROM, rooted via kernel replacement. If I open settings, then tap 'More...' settings stops with the error message in the subject. I can't get to any of the settings under 'More...' because of this. The phone seems to work just fine otherwise.
It's not bothering me too much, since the phone doesn't seem to have any other problems, but can anyone give me any advice on fixing this? Thanks...

ive never had this issue with any of the roms i have used. but maybe try clearing the cache partition and dalvik cache, or just do a whole reset and clear both caches and re-flash the rom.

I'm pretty sure that would not only wipe his memory, but also replace the kernel with the stock ICS one again, thus eliminating root.
OP, what kernel did you use to root? It might help us figure this out, though I've never heard of anything like this and I don't think many others have either.
yeah sounds like you need to wipe. do a full wipe and try again.

CM9 question

So I flashed CM9. On the main screen. Go to touch the little android dude and it says "unfortunately setup Wizard has stopped" and now idk how to get around or fix it?

Tried to re-install but its not letting me. Guess that S3 is gonna come earlier than I expected... Which means missing out on the quadzillas coming later this year :/
What was your process of doing things? Start from the beginning. Just simply saying it didnt work doesnt help. Where you coming from a different ROM? Did you make sure you were on android 2.3.4? Did you wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before flashing? Let us know the steps you took.

Came from CM7. I ended up just clicking the screen like mad in frustration and somehow it went to home screen....
I think maybe Gapps didnt install correctly bc im getting error messages about gapps. But when i went to re-install it, it just freezes the phone in recovery and i have to pull the battery.

You are using the ICS gapps right? Not the Same gapps file you used for CM7?

S3 Android is updating everytime i turn it on?

After flashing a couple of Roms I found my recovery i made of the stock Rom now says android is updating everytime i turn it on.
are using TWRP and wiped Davlec cashe but now restart and upgrading again..
started with about 43 updates and this time after davlesc reset is 80 updates..
Ive only ever seen this when installing Gapps to a new build it does it once..
This recovery never had Gapps on it and shouldnt be doing this?
Ive searched but cant find specific advice on the S3..
Anybody can help?

This is because your cache is being rebuilt on every reboot. Most likely from restoring a stock rom after using custom roms. This is never a good idea. If you need to return to stock you should do it by Odin. Stock roms do not back up/restore properly.
so this only happens after you wipe Dalvik? That's what's supposed to happen
No its been doing it every time i turn phone on for ages.
Just i read somewhere to wipe davlec should fix it.but then doubled the amount of updates after...
anyway i think will re flash rom from odin again should be better.
was just wondering if there was something simple i didnt do..but i guess its cause i came from non stock rom before..
Thanks for answers..
Are you sure that somewhere in twrp settings or anywhere else that you haven't set the device to wipe dalvik on each boot?
Did you delete some odex files from your system/app

This has nothing to do with the issue. The issue is that the delvic cache is being deleted on reboot. A full wipe and reflash should fix him/her right up.

Jellyverse - Unfortunately, the UI has stopped working.

Hey guys, I am quite new to this flashing roms, kernals, etc.. I am not a novice when it comes to general programming, just to the mobile devices. Well, I installed Jellyverse 3.0, and at the OS startup (where you would normally enter google account information for sync) It had told me the UI had stopped working. I did this twice to test.. The pull down status bar wouldnt work, no animations, and no 3g on the first run. I decided {MAYBE} and I say that with an extreme giggly voice, I had done something wrong. So, I followed the process again and of course, same problem. The third time I installed, when I got the UI stopped working error (before I made the first selection after install even) I decided to just Reboot the device. Thus rebooted and continued on without any error. My question is what did I miss on the install leading to this problem? I notice I don't have anykind of themed screen transition, is this because of the error? Any response and feed back if aprriciated, Thanks!

Thank you, for your response. Yes, I did try wiping ALL data.. Still have the same error. The phone is up and running, flawless (after a reboot of said error..) I'm just wondering if I missed anything and reporting back for future bug fixes. Is there no screen transition animation to this rom?
That rom.is cm10.1 4.2.2?

[Q] Trouble flashing gapps to P5113

Sorry if i'm being a noob, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. I have a P5113 galaxy tab 2 10.1 (the wifi/IR version) and i'm trying to flash CM 10.1.3. Every time i try flashing CM/gapps and i reboot my tab, it says 'com.google.processes.gapps has failed' (or something like that), then 'google play store has stopped'. I've checked and double checked that I'm flashing the correct gapps and I am, I've downloaded and redownloaded the rom/gapps again and again, but nothing's working. I've made sure to clear the cache and dalvik, and I've even done a factory data wipe but to no avail. i still get the 'com.google.process.gapps has failed' message and 'google play store has stopped'.
Help?
Mostly the reasons for force close is wrong permissions

What's the filename of the gapps you're flashing?
Thanks for the quick reply! Do I do this before I flash the new room/gapps?

And the filename of the rom? I imagine you're using the P5110 builds?
If you are flashing cm-10.1.3-p5110 then yes, 20130812 is the right gapps. Have you got your gapps from http://goo.im/gapps?

Yes; it's the build you just referenced and I'm getting the gapps from there... I can't figure out what's going wrong.

Can't say I have a clue either. If you did a factory reset, flashed CM10.1.3, then gapps and booted, everything should just work.
