I saw that some of the Sony devices ( i think X10) can increase RAM size by using SD card. That method available for LWW WT19?
I try that method but not work with CM9.1
Thanks!

Basically, swapping should be possible to enable on almost any device. I wrote a short description about how to do it manually here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29617650&postcount=6
You'll need an ext3 or ext4 partition on your SDcard.
Hi
it's like creating a swap file; not fast as Ram but perhaps useful.
There are also simpler but less performing methods as creating swap file on fat32, as swapper2 app does.
Or if you have unlocked bootloader you can use rage kernel which already has 3 different scripts to swap memory to cache, to system and to sd. In any case, i don't know how useful it can be, it really stresses the sd card and it just gives more space to the phone to occupy memory. Android automatically frees up memory needed for an application to run by closing unnecessary activities, usually cached, so if you give it more "space" you will still end up with more running services with subsequent impact on phone performance.
There's a lot of app you can find on the market that can do this but i forgot the name
Just search something like ram booster or something like that on the market

When you make partition in your SD card, you must know the maximum size for the partition. I tried to googling it (it's hard to find the best information) and finally, i got informations about it.
(IMPORTANT) For best performance, use SD Card with class 10!
For ext4, it has maximum size 2GB.
For swap, it has maximum size depends on your RAM and multiplied it by 2. ACE has (256MB) so the best swap size is about 400-512MB.
I've tried by myself, i have SDCard 8GB and i make partition for ext4 system 1.8GB and swap size about 496MB and it works fine, i've no problem with my SD Card.
You can check my Customization in this link :

This thread is just an info. Sorry if this is repost.
PS : If anyone find out the wrong things about the size number, please let me know. Thanks

Thanks for your info. I just edited the post, more detail about the SD card class that should be use.
Well..Using swap is ok,but some people has had problems with their ace when they used swap partition..So,its recommended not to use it

What kind of problem? I think if you make partition your SD card with right step, there will be no problem about it. So far, this swap function is truly increase my performance.
I think you should say that Swap partition is only for Darktremor script's users because I use S2E tool for moving apps to my SD card instead and I can't use a swap partition in my system!
Also, thank you very much for your info!

when using dtapp2sd and a2sdgui, I can see the swap partition status.
now I am using S2E and freespace, I can not see the swap partition usage. no idea it is used but can not see the status, or it is not used.

Hi adamziomal, you could configure and check swap with this free app: Swapper 2 (for Root users) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lv.n3o.swapper2
Cheers. Good luck.

How to sd partition and swap partition on 4gb sd card
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
first of all i must say i read once its better to have a high class sd card, for example class 6, it doesn't matter the space, its more important the class because higher class higher speed.
i must say i have a 8 gb sd class 6 and i have brilliant performance.
so if you have smaller class u can try but i can't tell u it will work perfect because i don't know.
about the way you can do it look for it in matmutant faq because he posted an easy tutorial explained by a guy called ferotakis i think...
look for it and if u find it let me know. if not i will try to explain here or will look it for you...
U mean the RBAP thread by matmutant...?

yeah! thats it! look there for the way to use app2sd and you will see a short tutorial by ferotakis on how to do the partition. after that look in post 3 of that page also because there is a list of useless apps u can delete to increase your memory and RAM.
Thanx buddx..

aps2sd is not difficult at all. it depends on how many apps u will install in ur phone. if u install a lot u should use aps2sd if not u can use native move to sd. the difference is native always leave a part of the apps in the inside memory and app2sd moves the whole ap. I've used both and considering i usually install a lot of apps I've had much better results with app2sd. now its up to you
but everything is well explained in matmutant faq.
you know that one thing of our phones lack is internal space, so has anyone tried this? me at this moment, I'm using link2sd.

I've not used this script in particular, but I HAVE used a2sd and dalvik2sd, which are the key features of the script in your link. Both worked fine on GB, ICS and JB, give it a try .
NOTE: I would recommend a very fast sdcard (I'm using an 8gb class 10 sdcard with a 250mb ext4 partition for app2sd/dalvik2sd, class ten is about as fast as you can get). The data partition is a high-quality fast-reading storage. If you move your data files to a slower storage (e.g. a slow sdcard,), you risk in slowing down your whole system!

Good morning, I'm new in rom and kernel flashing: I started a week ago looking for a trick to increase the internal memory of my xperia ray.
I read a lot in forums, I've also tried to follow suggestions on how to create ext partitions on the sd card in order to increase internal memory, but nothing!
Only a lot of problems inrom/kernel incompatibility, bootloops... quite frustating.
Now I'm using ROM Ultimate HD 3.0.2, and CTcaer 2.6 Kernel.
But my final goal is to increase the internal memory with a part of my sd card (Samsung 16GB class 10).
Any suggestions? I tried int2extv2+, but the memory size didn't changed. Maybe I'm using a wrong kernel.
Please help.
Thank you very much
have u try link2sd
because i use it quite long time and its really help me to free my internal memory
and u need to create a partition on ur sd card

I'll try to use it, but I'd like to understand which is the difference between using link2sd or a script in the init.d, if there is a difference in performance.
Thank you.

for me actually never use script and didn't know about it

Installed link2sd... atg the beginning I had some problems: link2sd wasn't able to create scripts; after fixing access permissions all worked properly.
Just one question: is there a limit for the ext partiotion size?
Thank you
would like to know that too!
Seeing as how the rezound has a whopping 2.34 gb dedicated for /data, what's the best way to incorporate data2sd if at all possible? The sdcard is formatted and ready to go, all I need is the best way to add the capabilities. Thanks.

u mean 2.34 GB for app storage, right? because rezound has approximately 11 GB for data storage (the phone storage).
from the subject if u mean something like app2sd darktremor script, super app2sd script, cronmod data2sd/ext2sd script or any others. All these scripts have 2 specific partitions for both the app and data by using partitioned sd card, i've used for some my old phones.
i've read related threads here for seeking the function too but never find at least one special thread about this kind of modding or other rom threads that provide data2script mod in their roms. Honestly i need it too
may be u have to make some gambling here for trying to use universal data2sd/ext2sd or any kinds which compatible for rezound in general hacking modding thread

Look at Link2SD... I have been using it since the days of my HTC Aria, it essentially makes your programs partition as large as you have SD card partition space and it has a nice interface. You do have to partition your SD card though, adding a partition specifically for Link2SD and then the application creates symbolic links in the normal partition for apps that point to the sd card. Make sure you read the instructions on how to use it though, or you will be wasting your time (use Link, not move).
