where to find the latest boot img - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

title says it all. I'm not sure where to find the latest boot img
help? links would be best.

The boot.img from the latest stock rom? Can't you unzip the rom and get it or use flash gui?

can't use flash gui, phone is stuck at boot.
I'll try unzipping, thanks!

I'm not too familiar with ADB stuff but you might need to use that. There's guides for that in the dev section.

Extract the kernel from the Rom you flashed. Once you have the boot image, place it in you adb tools folder or SDK and connect to pc. Open the terminal and navigate to the folder and type fastboot flash boot boot.img

Well there ya go!

werd. Ok, I'm working on it. Thank you.

You misspelled word.

You misspelled "I'm a grammar nazi.".

I couldn't resist...
Well then, shouldn't the "g" and "n" be capitalized? - "Grammar Nazi":silly:

I am a grammar Nazi, and proud of it!

I have a program called boot.IMG flasher in Original Dev that has the latest boot.IMG, modules, and will even flash it for you if stuck in bootloop or in bootloader.

It's the kernel and all related files packed into a file called an image file

I need flashable boot.img

OK so here's my problem. In a nutshell, I was using my dude Chingys ineff. Made a backup n flashed the clean ics with its own flashable boot.img after the flash. I made a restore and tried to go back to ineff. Well clearly that's a problem without the right boot image. I flashed one I had with my fingers crossed and that wasn't the correct one. Now I can't even do a fresh install of clean ics because its boot image won't work now. Chingy is away from his PC and can't dropbox it to me. Can anyone help me with this so I can flash it without my PC (I'm at work) and restore my ineff backup? Please n thanks community! =)

boot.img is in the ROM file. Just use a zip program to open the file and it will be right there. You'll need to use ADB to push the file to your phone, can't flash a img file. Or use Scott's CleanFlash program.

Sorry, didn't see you wanted something without a computer.
Have you tried reinstalling CleanICS. It's set up to create the flashable zip file for you.
Edit: Here is a post on how to create the flashable zip file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454255
I don't use ineff so I don't have the boot.img file for you.
afaik all you need to do is copy the boot.img and androidinfo.txt from the rom and zip it as PH89img.zip on the root of your sd card and flash through hboot
I'm having the same issue. I was on BAMF ROM and tried to install Clean ICS. The install went fine but the fastboot failed. Said the IMG was older.. tried other roms and the only way I could get my phone to boot up was to do a clean install of the BAMF ROM.
Not trying to hijack the thread just don't get why any of the ROMs I tried all fail the fastboot IMG except for the BAMF ROMS.

From my understanding BAMF ROM must be using a newer revision number and that is why you fail. Are you flashing from HBOOT or computer using fastboot? I thought you could push an earlier file through the computer.

[Q] Flashing Boot.img

Hey so i'm trying a couple rom's out and they all say to update the boot.img and every time i try do do this from the fastboot menu it says that it is out of date. i think the problem is that i have the ota update on my phone but i'm not really sure how to make it so that i can flash the boot.img from fastboot menu. any suggestions?
Check out Scotts CleanFLASH tool. Does it for you and you don't have to worry about mainvers and all that crap.

it isn't a problem if i install the boot.img after i flash the rom and i am running the rom because that is pretty much the only way i can use the cleanflash tool and the install the boot.img
Another option is to copy the boot.img file out of the PHzip file and flash it in fastboot (on your pc, not in the phone's menu). You won't have to worry about mainver issues that way either.
fastboot flash boot boot.img

first i hope you made a back up via clockwokmod or twrp and have it saved... the saved backup will have a boot.img file in there, extract that file and put it in the same folder as your fastboot file... then boot into your hboot and load up fastboot and then plug in the data cable so it should now say fastboot usb after on your computer in a terminal window type in
fastboot flash boot boot.img
that should restore your boot.img file so it doesnt loop...

Open the zip file of the ROM with winRAR. Copy the boot.img from it to your fastboot folder(folder which you have used while rooting your phone. It should have files like fastboot.exe, adb.exe etc). . Now boot your phone in bootloader (vol down+power button).
select fastboot. Connect to PC. Now open up Command prompt and navigate to your fastboot folder in command prompt. Type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" . Then reboot your phone.

If you are flashing a ROM that contains the same kernel as your current one, then you can flash the rom.zip directly from recovery as if you are s-off. No fastboot, no flash image gui needed if kernels are same.
jslim28 was facing bootloop issue and the reason was a different kernel.
If leedroid ROM contains a stock kernel, he would not have faced bootloop at all.
I found out what went wrong I flash warms Rom and I found out that its a multi device ROM and it contains three kernels and I flashed it using GUI app and it flashed so i didn't like the ROM at all and i decided to go back to my daily driver and that's when i found out that it completely wiped my boot.IMG when flashing back to Lee's ROM so if your using the GUI app to flash the kernel be very careful and if the ROM contains three kernel's it doesn't let you choose which kernel you want to flash it choose for you and that's knot good

Nope, flash through fastboot mode. Copy .img file to fastboot folder and open cmd there, then type : fastboot flash boot boot.img ( boot.img is the name of .img file )
Kernel on the latest CM rom (137) is provided in .zip file. Remember that this kernel (boot.img) is flashed last, after wiping & installing Rom successfully

[Q] HELP!!! HTC Rooted Evo 4g LTE

Okay well i have a rooted Evo 4g LTE and i am sort of a newb with terms and what not however i have had this phone rooted for quite a while. Yesterday i think i really ****ed my phone up i was running cm 10 and got an update for cm10.1 in my notifications so i went and tried to do that without wiping anything... big mistake apparently cause it didnt work so i was going to factory reset and re install the rom now when i did that my computer said please format disk drive and it would not allow me to access my files. So at that point im stuck with a phone with no rom or access to my files. Today i got a SD card and decided to try to wipe it once before i put on the new rom on guess what it said factory reset failed it couldnt mount the SD card or something like that. So i am still stuck with a useless phone just to tell you i have twrp v2.3.3.0 dont no if that helps or not but thats what it is. Also it is weird that i am able to flash zips but i still cant turn the phone on when i do it only goes to the htc quietly brilliant screen. Any answers will be accepted please feel free to ask questions thank you.

I understand that i get it from inside the cm10.1 zip folder but where do i put the boot.img on the SD card? and then how do i fastboot flash it
Download kernel intended for your device. Inside the zip will be a boot.img file. Extract the boot.img to where ever you have adb and fastboot located (in sdk > platform tools). Once in that folder hold shift key then select "open command here". Type "fastboot devices" then enter and type "fastboot flash boot boot.img".

Thanks but one more problem there is no boot.img it is a boot disk image file
Inside every kernel will be a boot.img file. Make sure you download a kernel interned for your phone and that there is a boot.img in it Remember to be S-Off and in fastboot mode when flashing. You should see a quick progress bar on the phone letting you know if it flashed successfully
