Recently, you may have heard about Apple's iPhone 5 Purple Haze (iPurple). Well, when a customer asked apple for help on the matter, this is the Actual Response received by the customer:
Dear Matt,
Our engineering team just gave me this information and we recommend that you angle the camera away from the bright light source when taking pictures. The purple flare in the image provided is considered normal behavior for iPhone 5′s camera. That's a TRUE Story!
But, it does not end there...
Last night, I had a nightmare, and here was my personal experience with using the iPhone 5 to snap a photo of me and my new dog to send to my family.
So, I'm at the park with my new dog and I decide to take a photo and share it with my family. He’s pretty hyper, so it takes a while to get the shot. My digital Image Stabilization just won’t quite keep him from looking like a blurry fur ball (iBlurry). But, with the help of a dead squirrel, he finally holds still long enough for a picture. We pose, and I take the shot. But there's a strange Purple haze in the corner of the shot. I remember the conversation Matt had with Apple, so I decide to take the photo indoors and not near any light source. I go to the public restroom. After getting my dog out of the toilet bowl, I dry him off using the environmentally friendly blow dryer. Now, my dog looks like he's a flashback from the 60's with his afro, but I decide to move on. I take the shot and Wow, it looks GREAT! Well, after I crop out the urinals.
I suddenly remember that I’m at the park that normally has 3 bars of service, but I’m holding the phone in my hand, so I am now down to no bars (AntennaGate). I decide that MMS will not work, so I must print out the photo and send it by mail. I figure I’ll go to Wal-Mart and use their photo printers and get about 10 copies for each of the recipients.
I open my handy Maps App and ask it for directions to Wal-Mart. We jump into the car and drive there. When I arrive at the Lake (MapGate), I yell to the guy in the boat and ask if he knows where the closest Wal-Mart is. He doesn’t, so following Apple CEO Tim Cook’s suggestion; I ask if the guy in the boat has a Lumia 920 so he can get me directions using Nokia Maps. He does, and I drive to Wal-Mart to print my photos.
I attempt to connect my iPhone to the printer to print out the photos. I then ask the Wal-Mart associate if she knows where I can buy an adapter for my phone so I can connect it to the printer. I go back to the associate and ask if they accept Layaway for the $40 adapter (iRipOff).
Since I really want to send a picture today, I drive back to the lake. By now, it’s dark, so I ask the guy in the boat if he’ll take a night shot with his Purview Camera. My dog has fallen asleep by now, so I lay next to him on the shore and the Boat Guy takes the shot. It comes out GREAT! He sends the photo to all my family using MMS and I cannot be happier.
The next day, I get calls from all of my family about how great the photo was, how calm my dog is with his hair done just right, and how amazing the lighting was that late at night. I thank them and tell them I could not have done it without my Amazing iPhone 5 and they should all buy one (iSheep). Now, my whole family owns iPhone 5’s (iLaLaLand).
For some reason, my Visual Voicemail is blowing UP about issues they are having with their new iPhones. I’ve even gotten threats from my mom.
Hmm, they must be holding it wrong…
Seriously, Apple makes a fine product for the most part, but when they are so (iArrogant), it does warrant some humor.
Dangit! I just got another (iScratch)!
This really IS "The Biggest Thing to Happen to iPhone Since iPhone". Please see Attached Image. Maybe they SHOULD have used a DSLR for their Adverts.
I cannot WAIT to get my hands on my new Lumia 920!
Nice Story
Really Nice Story Super Sport, the other day I was speaking with an iphone fan friend, and telling him about the more than HD display from the Lumia 920, an he said to me, the Iphone has HD display since Iphone 4, and he showed me inside the camera app, and option that said HDR recording, haha, how can you argue with that, it is just not worth it.
Hope the Lumia 920 wont be as hard to unlock as the 900 is.

What's even more "Amazing" is that they also invented the Panorama Camera Setting that takes an 'AMAZING' 28 Megapixal photo. When they announced that, the crowd went nuts. WOW, 28MP photos from the new iPhone 5! Well, using that type of math, Windows phones have been doing that for YEARS, and in the 100's of Megapixals using PhotoSynth, and not just 8 frames wide, but in ALL directions, 360 degrees around, AND UP/DOWN. But Apple is very good at their announcements, making sure everyone thinks it's New technology, and "Amazing!".
As a matter of fact, the iPhone has been using Photosynth for over a year now, and it KILLS their NEW Panorama Mode.

How do you like the 3D Functionality of the phone? Obviously, if you don't have the phone, or have only gotten to be hands on for a few minutes, you can't really provide much input in regards to it. I know some claim it's a gimmick, or some other BS, but that just goes to show they've already made up their mind without actually truly using it.
I had a 65" 3D DLP TV and learned there were really 2 types of people, those who could see it and had no vision issues and liked it, and those whose eye sight needed improving and couldn't watch but briefly.
So now that you own the phone, what are your thoughts?
50 Char limit on poll answers Sux!
Once you get used to it in terms of angle and distance it is very very good. Much better than the 3DS. It is not the main reason why I bought the phone but it is definitely a very fun addition to have. Looks great in my opinion.

+1 3d quality is amazing. Especially because of the qhd display. I did not expect the pictures to look soo damn good. There's so much depth!
I think its amazing. At first I didn't understand how to use it as I have mild monovision but after raining my eyes with the help of my optometrist I can se it now. It's trippy as hell. It's not like the movies where things jump out at you. Its like looking out a window and seeing the world.

+1 on all of these. It does take some getting used to but man its pretty. Looks like your looking through a little window
Edit: ha! We said the same thing

I watched the Masters 2010 last year in 3D on the 65", and though I'm not much of a golf fan, the viewing experience made you feel like you were there. I kept wanting to reach out and move the people who were in front of the green out of the way.
I expect 95%+ of ACTUAL EVO 3D owners to state it's as expected, or better, though I do expect most people to have expectations exceeded. 3D is a cool feature. I didn't fully appreciate it until my entire Call of Duty 4 play-through was entirely on my 3D setup. Some of the missions on that game in 3D were awesome. Doing the snowy forest mission in particular was intense......in one word, definitely intense!
Of course sitting 6ft away from a 65" screen in 1080p 3D helped quite a bit. It pretty much filled my vision to the point where a turn of the head was needed to really see something at the edges of the screen. I went back through some of the missions while in 2D, and it wasn't anywhere near being the 3D experience. The difference is best equated to just watching the scenes from "Soaring" @ Disney World on a large TV, more so than being suspended on a device that puts you inside of a parabolic screen with the motion effects, blowing wind, and the scent device all working in 'full sensory harmony'. LOL
Of course, games like portal, Battle Field, and any other 3D game were badass too. The milk drop plugin for winamp has some awesome visuals as well. It will be interesting to see what 3D games turn out to be on the EVO 3D. Of course, it's not the same thing as a large 3D screen, it will certainly be more entertaining that just a typical 2D cell screen.
Occasionally 3D doesn't kick in when viewing 3d content. It's pretty rare but it does happen.
Watched five minutes of The Green Hornet in 2D; rebooted and it came on in 3D.
The phone also insists on converting 3D to 2D when sharing content so if you're planning a 3D flikr photostream or anything similar you'll have to find another way to create it.
What I'd really like to see is google earth in 3d. My virtual visits to Mount Everest would be so much more thrilling if google could pull that off.
I watched every review out there before i got mine and the expectations i had set from those reviews have been surpassed. Great stuff.

Well you have to look at it more like the fact that one pretty much knows what they're getting when they buy the phone.....which is actually $500, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who didn't want it, but bought it anyway. And if you did find someone like that, I'm not sure how much credibility one could lend them given the fact that they impulsively bought something they knew they didn't want. If that's the case, they're probably insane and thought it would turn into a unicorn, so they could ride rainbows.

I know man, such a let down. I was hoping it'd turn into a Jet fighter using Transformers Cube technology. Turns out it's just a damn cell phone w/ 3D capability.
I love it personally. I didn't think I would, I was in the 'gimmik' column. Now I think i would buy another 3d phone. I bought spiderman and asphalt 3d (broken). Greenhornet was cool in 3d, sukie movie tho.

If mine doesn't have Halle Berry's number pre programed in the phone I'm turning it back in
So I was on the wait list, went in early, but there was only 1 other person in there. I figured I would take a look at it first before throwing down $550 as my upgrade isn't available for 3 months. I had the full intention of paying the full amount, as long as it met my expectations. I use an Epic 4G right now just as a reference to what I'm used to.
Just as a preface, I have better than 20/20 vision, and no issues seeing very small objects, details, and can focus on stereograms pretty easily, so I didn't expect too much of an issue from new screen.
I went over to the store and checked it out, the 3D is there, but its for those not familiar with the type of 3D, its more like a blurry 2D image until the stereogram effect kicks in (like when you stare at a patten and the 3d image drops). I did find the objects with a larger 'depth' are better seen by adjusting the distance of your eyes to the phone. You will notice the foreground objects become much more clearer with the backdrop having some of the double effect.
I did notice watching the Green Hornet that flashes / smaller details tended to double up, while the rest of the video was in 3D. Sometimes it would appear to change from 2D to 3D which was a bit distracting. Images seemed to be worse than the video feeds, and if you backed up about 3 feet from the phone, you could see 2-3 zones, much like a hologram when you shift it left to right, except you did not need to move to see the effect.
The phone itself felt snappy, but not much more than my Epic. Its early, so I expected it. I did some on screen keyboard texting just to see how it felt. It was decent, but tended to kick in the swype motions when I sped up which became typos.
Its not a bad phone, but for me, I wound up not purchasing it as the gimmick of the 3D wasn't strong enough to justify the full price, and with the motorola coming out at the end of the month with a better camera, and comparable specs (you can debate the Tegra 2 vs the 220/snap dual anywhere), it just didn't make sense for me.
I will let you know in an hour once I have time to play with the thing. On it's way now. Got a friend grabbing it from Best Buy right now.

People are confusing what type of vision issues present issues. It's not really at what distance you can see, though that can be an issue, it's more about eye dominance and other similar issues. If both of your eyes do not truly operate within fairly tight tolerances of each other, you will not enjoy it most likely.
I also prefaced the post itself to the actual owners, regardless if you were going to purchase it or not. Playing with something for 10 minutes isn't the same as owning it, regardless if you think you got the feel for it. One really needs to have it for hours, not minutes, before you actually get a feel for it. I'm willing to bet that no one has actually sat there playing with it for an hour while standing at the kiosk with 10 other people trying to get their hands on it. This is echoed by others who state, about THIS phone, that it was hours, not minutes, that the true feel was had.
I have a good friend, swore his eyes were perfect. Said he had 20/15....blah blah blah. He absolutely did nothing but knock 3D TVs....mine in particular. Funny enough it was originally, he didn't like it, it was a gimmick. Then it turned into 'well it gives me a headache'. 6 weeks later after he went to the eye doctor, he had himself a new regular item.....prescription glasses. Everyone else, unless they openly admitted vision issues, loved the 3D. I witnessed it over the course of 2 years. Some people are in denial about their eyes....because "it's not their eyes" ..... excuse me while I roll mine LMAO

Right, but it is also a forum of fanboys who have been biased by many subpar reviews and have been aniticpating to not like the phone and be underwhelmed. I think the general consensus is that the pro reviewers are either full of sh..t or are someone's payroll. I for one was averse to the idea of 3D but have been absolutely blown away by the quality and its useful implimentation. This is hands-down the best phone available right now..
It plays hell with my eyes, but I will get used to it.
-----
No, I'm not happy to see you, that's a Shooter in my pocket.
Ok, so we've had our first impressions and now we've had our devices for weeks, maybe months, let's give our opinions about the device.
Display
I must admit, I was shocked by the display, I've had many phones and nothing could beat the iPhone 4's retina display, I must admit that I didn't think this tin could come to par with either that or the Super AMOLED display, but damn, it's yummy good.
Handset (Body & Screen)
The body, the material of the phone is sexy, that's the best way to describe it, in my hand though, I must admit, that damn edge hurts your palm after time, so you have to keep the edge out of it after a few mins, damn things a bugger, wish a nice third party case would come and comfort this. As for the screen, as soon as I bought it, I was looking for a screen protector, bought one that doesn't cover it up, so much for the hellish plastic, as by then I managed to get two very tiny scratches on the screen which you can just about see in light, OCD Rage!! so much for Gorilla Glass, I guess it's no good on the fine scratches. Thanks to an XDA member now I've ordered a full screen protector.
Operating System
Ok, since I've used all three leading OS right now, I can be unbiased and fan-boy-less. Android, oh god, I was the dude who couldn't stop rooting, theming, tweaking, I must admit, Android is good, but not great, why? Ok, as much as some may hate the fact of being boxed in by Zune and iTunes, it keeps your music library organised, I prefer iTunes over Zune, as Zune is limited and slow when it comes to syncing a movie. The widgets on Android just makes your screen look like your fridge with a load of untidy sticky notes, iOS lacks it, whereas the Windows is limited which I like, though I do wish the live tiles could be as big as the pictures tile as an option. When it comes to syncing contacts, I disliked the iOS, was way too limited, it's like the contacts were completely seperate, making the phone feel like, it was on the side, it felt like the iOS was an iPod touch with the phone on side, Android was ok thanks to HTC, but without that, it was pretty close to the iOS, lacking. The Windows though, damn, I love this piece of ish, this is the best part of it, it being a great "PHONE" doing it's job their perfectly. Out of all three OS's I have to admit, Windows has been the best so far, as it is a phone, don't get me wrong, the tweaks, customising, rooting yada I love, but it all comes down to it being a phone. iOS comes second and Android third. Why Android? I think we all know now, google was an innovator, but is now an imitator, copy and pasting, nothing eye-catching that I've seen anymore.
Music Player
Oh dear, where do I start? This thing is bloody awful, my mini-disc player sounded way better than this, maybe even my old tape player too, it's dreadful, the guy who was in charge of this must have shot himself or Nokia must have murdered him from the complaints on here and the Nokia forum, but yes, apparently the next update will fix this, I don't know how, as I believed it was hardware related and not software, we shall wait and see. I had to buy a Fiio amplifier because of it, it's doing it's job well, but I wish that I didn't need it, as it adds extra wires and of course an extra gadget I could do without. Damn! It'd be payday for the man who robs me. Loudspeaker, oh god, reminds me off the first phones that had real ringtones, that awful hiss. It makes a great alarm though by being annoying. The iPhone 4 was absolutely brilliant in this department, no problem whatsoever, Android was too, apart from it being an untidy music player.
Battery
Another downer, this phones battery is ridiculous, I'm sorry, as many have stated that their battery life is now better, you're just sacrificing the tools and background apps, dimming your screen i.e. finding ways to save battery, I had an iPhone 4, damn things wi-fi, 3g, GPS was always switched on, Androids, the mother of battery drainers, installing custom ROM's that had battery draining bugs and that don't come close to this. Nokia was always great when it came to battery life, but this is outrageous, one big reason why I'm having second thoughts on this phone.
Verdict
Big red for the verdict, as some may have got tired reading, but what can I say about this phone, it's amazing, not the best, the best when it comes to OS, I'm having second thoughts about this phone, Nokia is plain ignoring everyone, look at their forum, that will give you an example, they were good when it came to customer service, not anymore, I wanted the Lumia 900 later this year to join this phone, but now I'm thinking, if the iPhone 5 is out by then, I may go for that instead, with this phone being kept on the side. The phone has faults, yes, the iPhone had the horrible antenna gate, but, I'm p***** off with Nokia's response to the battery, at one time, they needed the diagnostics app to determine your battery status, now they're telling everyone to not pay attention to it and delete it. The best part of the phone comes down to the fruit Mango, that's the heart of this phone. So I'll give this phone a 7.5/10
Thanks for reading, hope I didn't b**** too much, and please people, if you disagree, keep it clean and friendly, it was my "opinion", you have yours too.
Thanks for the review, I'll give it a go anyway, I got it coming Tuesday, I've currently got a 4S which I love, but something attracts me to this phone, the battery can't be as bad as the 4s, I have to charge it twice a day, it's a joke.

No problem, I highly doubt the new models would be affected by this, I'm sure Nokia sotred them out before shipment. Yes, the phone is defiinitely eye catching. That's why I bought it.

Kind of off topic but have you disabled some of the location services on the 4S? It constantly searchs for location for the weather update, you can disable this specifically (without disabling location for maps) and double the battery life. My better half's 3GS had a big drop in battery life too due to this.

I hope you don't get a lumia with terrible battery . The chinese are probably mad that Apple are selling all the iPhones overseas and are sabotaging the batteries!
I'm stuck between getting a Lumia or a 4S at the moment. Had a bit of crap customer service from apple which has turned me off (i even cancelled my pre-order), but all the problems with the Lumia are turning me off. If they fix the audio (and put 32GB) then i might get one... or hold off for the 900.
I can't wait to hear how you get on with the Lumia though, mainly because WP7 is really fantastic.

lol yeah more than likely
I've brought it off someone which is second hand and he's had it since Novemeber, so probably one of the earlier models, we're see with battery I suppose... £200 for it though and mint condition so can't complain, and I really like the look of those live tiles lol
The 4s is an amazing phone don't get me wrong, it really has some amazing features, the camera is second to none, the apps functionality and how iOS has come around to be great really makes it a great phone, I will miss some of the apps if I sell it, Instagram (amazing photo app like twitter follow people etc but you post pictures) iPlayer, Sky Go, TVCatchup, amongst many other great apps.
But in the end I don't think it'll bother me, I like minimal, email, messaging and calls, the WP7 interface looks smart for doing those things and it's not like Apple are ever going to stop producing iPhones, the 5 will be around the corner lol
Regards
Hey all,
So I've had my Note for like 5 days now, and I have nothing to complain about. If there was one thing to complain about it would be that It's hard to pull my phone out of my pocket while driving to answer a call... but I really don't care because I love the phone size whole heartedly. But anyway, last night I went to the bar with my Note. I could feel the people behind me staring at my phone as I used it haha. I was pondering on whether I should have even taken it in before entering, because I'm the person in the bar thats always dancing like I'm in a club, and I was worried about it being in my pocket. Well the bar I went to, which is very popular and gets very crowded, plays loud loud music, so it's almost impossible to not dance.
The note faired well in my pocket with slight dancing, and also sparked a couple conversations with people surprised by me pulling it out to answer my phone. But tonight I will probably be taking it to a club where dancing will be key. Now since I am the type that never leaves without my phone, I will probably be bringing it along, however, I feel that this time it will probably get in my way. Also I doubt it will spark as many conversations at a club, but suspect I will have just as many strangers staring at me as I go to use it.
I couldn't find a single shirt I owned that would fit the note in its pocket haha, and I looked as I figured it would probably be easier to move with the Note stored in my shirt.
Let me know any of y'alls stories about bar or club ventures with the Note. Any suggestions for tonight when I go to the club?

It has definitely changed the social situation around me when I pull out this phone. I have to wonder if the Streak users experienced the same?
I wouldn't say that it is helping me to influence people or make friends, but I can feel the reaction around me when I whip out the S-Pen and go to work
So far, only one iPhone user tried to say something, but after watching me demonstrate the capabilities (Siri? HAH!) and show off the 4G LTE goodness, they shut up and I haven't heard a peep from them since.
A few of my Android friends are looking into getting one, but as far as I can tell I am the only one around this podunk town with one. I don't imagine it will take very long to change that!
I just recently passed the 1 year anniversary mark of purchasing my Streak. Throughout different environments and scenarios, I usually always got some kind of stares from people in public.
In like the club/lounge/bar type of settings, if I was on the dance floor or in some crowded space, and happened to take out the Streak for any reason, oftentimes a stranger would tap me and vaguely talk to me about that.
There were a few times in which I felt a little clumsy with a lot of people crowding around me to take a look.
I even had people ask me why I was carrying only a tablet and not a phone instead. Even with that small ear piece at top, some of them still believed you couldn't make traditional phone calls with it.
Haha a quite good looking female came up to me at the bar last night. She said she was wandering what phone i had and she was "watching" me use it lol. So i showed her a fast S pen demo. I didn't chit chat too long as i was with my gf but she didn't seem to care. This phone is seriously a conversation piece when i whip it out. Putting iphone users to shame daily

Well, it sure is handy when taking a ladies phone number. Just whip out the pen and hand it to her. Impressive.
Of course, the other side of the coin. Go to the club with this baby in a holster and see how fast they run from you. lol
I go to a lot of Raves and nightclubs and it's done fine in a case. I wouldn't dance with it in my pocket though
Every dress shirt I have, the note fits into. It goes in my back pocket when I wear jeans.
If you rather, in the car, use bluetooth. or get a mount so you can see the display. Works for me.
This phone is perfect for me, as I had a 7" SG Tablet.
Yes the Streak gets the same attention. Not just in bars it clubs it anywhere it comes out. Looking into the note as my next phone but not quiet ready yet.

Hahaha love it. I showed my Pops my phone the other day. And of course how his whole iPhone 4s in a Otterbox mind you, fits inside just of my Notes screen .
He said, Damn..... I like that phone lol.

that is too damn funny!!!!
My Note fits perfectly in all of my pants pockets. Haven't had a problem, or even noticed it in my pocket, while dancing in bars/clubs. Also, never had a stranger ask about it, though.

I've had people at the club see it sticking out of my pocket and ask me about it one of the best conversation starting phones I have had
I was getting a haircut, sitting, i showed the lady how i want my hair to look like. So i pulled out my Note from my pocket and showed it to her. SHe responded, "That big huh?" I said, "Yeah that big" with an innuendo. well shampoo time came..i dont know if it was intentional but she brushed her nice tits on my face twice.....hmmmmm
my response to the size is."You know us Brotha's like em Big and White" get a hell-of-a laugh outta that one.
Someone came along and gave this thread one star. I gave it five, so it's at 3. Let's get this voted up to where it belongs!
I noticed on some of my pics a blur on the left side and most others do not. When the background is farther away it seems blury compared with the 900 photos which don't do that. I will post a sample of a pic of my motorcycle later, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed that.
Due to the smaller aperture size you get a reduced depth of field. Therefore if you focus on something farther away things that are nearer will turn out blurry at some point. Similarily if you focus on something near you the background will blur. That effect is well known in photography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_field
Most phone camera lenses have a very large depth of field due to their small size. I guess that is the reason for the effect you're having. In regular cameras or at least SLRs you can adjust the aperture to change this but with smartphones it's constant.

Sounds reasonable, but it does not explain the reason the left side is worse than the right... here are some samples of what I mean.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0kh2recr74d1o0a/WP_20121205_002.jpg From the front tire to the tree on the far left, and look at the distance on the right... fairly ok.
Again
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yikkpiymypxsm2t/WP_20121130_012.jpg Look at the focus on the right compared to the left at the same distance... you can also see by the left end of the bike it is out of focus. I have plenty of indoor shots that are perfect, some out door. However, it seems the outdoor shots are having the most trouble. Right side looks ok.. left side not so good.

Different story
That looks like either gunk on your lens, or an actual hardware problem (either with the image stabilization system or the AF lense)
That does not look like normal DOF focus.

Cleaned the heck out of the lens, no change. Bought the phone on Craigslist so calling Nokia... will see where that gets me.
Its the lens .. the N8 had a similar issue. All in all the only Carl Zeiss lens on a phone that deservers the name and it somewhat performs accordingly is the one on the 808.

My N8 had the out of focus problem on the right of every picture. My 920 doesn't have the problem so it's worth getting your checked by Nokia.
Bad lens or assembly problem.
WARNING!!!!!
Called Nokia support on this issue and eventually they had me do a hard reset. This had the gears on a spinfest! After an hour I reset the phone and all that would come up is the Nokia logo. Apparently others have called on the battery issue and had the same problem. If you aren't ready to up and send the phone back to Nokia... say it's the weekend and you called on a minor issue.... Never fear, I fixed mine on my own.... using the Nokia care suite. Treat it as you are refurbishing a non booting phone. It had me up and running. With the blurry lens unfortunately. http://www.mediafire.com/?xos6ckvsas5xkdi#!
I wanted to update this thread
No receipt, who knows where it came from, paid for at a used phone price, Went down to AT&T to get a SIM for a Radar I bought off Craigslist as a backup unit... They covered the phone with a lens issue, they did not have one to swap out in the store so they overnighted me a replacement. Much better photos all the way around! I was pleasantly surprised.
basically sometime is the lens blurry.. need to get nokia care to clean the lens and it should be ok

Eventhough I bought the phone on Craigslist used, AT&T took care of it right away. The photos all the way around seem to be coming out better. Maybe there was dirt back there or the lens was messed up, I don't know. All is perfect now, some of the photos are jaw dropping what a mobile phone can produce.

I guess I wasn't clear on that... you get in a rush sometimes.. I wanted to keep people updated on that becuase what happened with support and how I was able to bring the phone back to life.
I strongly urge anyone who buys a Nokia Phone to have the care suite... just in case.
Here is what happened at the At&t store: I called Nokia support.. went through the reset game and filled out the RMA form. I talked with At&t briefly about my situation. I bought a Radar to use temporarly, the plan was to unlock it and sell it when I get a new one. Unfortunately it uses and older SIM so I was told by AT&T phone support how they would deal with that. When I went to the store I told the front counter I needed a replacement SIM. The salesperson asked what was wrong with the phone and I told him about the focus issue. I told him I bought the phone elsewhere. I was then told as long as it is a branded AT&T and under warranty they will take care of it. He sent me back to the support area. They appoligized they did not have any replacement phones on hand, it can take a couple months. The support person overnighted me a replacement phone. The next day I had what looks like a brand new phone. For $380 I ended up with a new lumia 920... not bad
Nice makes sense as if its an AT&T branded 920 they all have a one year warranty and (i believe) it should be regardless of owner and based on hardware
I'm on the same boat. I bought my Lumia 920 locally since the only carrier that sells the phone here in Canada is Rogers. Now, I am having overheating issues and would like to get a replacement. Hopefully Nokia will let me get another one even though I have no receipt. I'll call them tomorrow to see if it's possible.

Just in case you are still unaware, I am sure the warranty is the same in Canada... it does not matter.. the form for RMA asks for your IMEI number. Name and address, nothing else. No proof of purchase. First though, I would take to Rogers. You never know, I got a way better deal at AT&T over Nokia.

Have you read about Nokia locking down access sometime in Mid January to its ROMs and firmwares that are available on their site. We may need to figure out a different way to get past this problem.
Mine is. Even slower in low light no matter if the object is close or far the autofocus would lock-focus in and out couple times before it locks on the object and when the object is moving, it often miss and renders bad results. Is yours behaving the same?
Yep. Tried to take some pictures of my daughter on a swing the other day, most shots out of focus?! Had to revert to my wife's S7 to get pics as G5 just couldn't nail it. Also has a problem with manual focusing when trying to create a foreground bokeh. Took about 40 pics of my daughter sitting on the grass at a beautiful venue, held the phone low to the ground to create a slight foreground bokeh but with her in focus and the phone just couldn't do it. Every time the whole frame was out of focus, there was no obvious focal point used? In the end I gave up! Did a similar thing on my HTC 10 a few weeks ago and got stunning results, most people dont believe that i took pics on a phone.
Waiting for the next batch of phones to be announced over the coming week and will buy one of those or possibly new Nexus.

Well sucks to be me then, I used nearly all my savings on this G5 just to end up like this sigh.. guess I'll have to live with it and hopefully it would someday sorta turn into a lucky charm and I can buy anything just like you. Anyways, thanks a lot for your confirmation!
Dude. Buy from Amazon, they have 30 day refunds. I try all flagships this way. Never actually own a phone per say. Some I keep if they are particularly good and them sell to fund the next one.

Well I wish I did, I bought it locally since I don't live in the US, the shipping and handling cost won't cut it. I hope something like amazon will turn up someday soon in my country!
Normal. Takes pictures in all conditions with no issues.
Mine has been fine with both still and action shots. In fact I was very surprised at the quality over my Xperia Z2.
