Hey guys,
I have been getting so many PM's and I am sorry not to be able to answer all of them. Most of the questions I got were from people who could not post in Dev Forum and most of the questions were the same. So I would like you all to post here as most users can help you since I cannot answer every single PM.
To all the users who already know an issue please help the people to fix it.
Please keep it organized so I would like to introduce a pattern:
Code:

Bug(s): ?!?
Question: ?!?
For anyone who is willing to answer (that includes me)
please answer as follows:
Link to the Post (right click on the right side and copy the link to post number xyz) copy the link and paste it. And then answer the Question with
Code:
SOLUTION to linktothepost: ?!!?
using ROM ?!?
Thanks Guys
That would be a great help!
P.S: you don't need to use CODE tags.
ROM: Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM/CM6v2) - All working! + Hotfix v1.1
Question: Do i need second partition in SD card to install this? Or i can have only one partition and also will be able to move apps to sd card.
Thank you.
Solution to Post 2:
You won't need any second partition to move apps, I even recommend not using any other partition cause froyo does a good job with this!
ROM: MiniCM v1.1
ROM: MiniCM v1.1
Question: Is this ROM undervolted (battery life is most important for me) if not, is it possible to undervolt it easy way (through xrec for example)
Question2: does your hotfixes install through xrec?
Question3: Can we expect a full build with all hotfixes + ldpi fix included soon?
Solution to Post 4:
Q1: The overclocked version is also undervolted if you want stock and undervolted set it to 600 MHz with setcpu (on boot). The not OCed version is not undervolted but i'll add this maybe later
Q2: Yes all hotfixes on first post will always be xrec flashable only thing is to keep the order while flashing so hotfix1 first and then flash hotfix2 and so on.
Q3: Yes but for now the changes have been to small for me to upload another full release
ROM: MiniCMv1.2

Question: What's the best and fastest way to backup your contacts, cause it's the only thing i want to transfer to this ROM after i update.
Sorry for making so many different posts with questions, not all of them came to my mind at the same time
Solution to Post 6:
Download MyPhoneExplorer in market and download myphoneexplorer for pc enable usb debugging and connect your phone via usb open myphoneexplorer and mini pro and pc and sync contacts.
Install rom and download myphoneexplorer from market again and sync with pc again. all contacts, sms, calls, calendar can now be restored.

Question: Hi, I'm new on XDA. Your job is very impressive. I need a little help.
I already installed xRecover, but every time I try to install the rom I got the following error:
Output from Recovery.log
Code:
-- Installing: SDCARD:update.zip
Finding update package...
I:Update location: SDCARD:update.zip
Opening update package...
I:Update file path: /sdcard/update.zip
minzip: Missed a local header sig (at 16)
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
Mount /dev/block/mtdblock0 on /system read-only
I've tried using install Update.zip option, also with install custom zip. Same output for both and for the original filename too. Also checked the MD5 of the file and it was ok. Later I downloaded [ROM] Cyanogen Gingerbread CM7 Final Sources (v13.0 + Hotfix #2) and I installed it without problems. Now I don't know what could be the problem. I googoled a lot about this but no one has a final answer.
Any help would be great
ROM: MiniCMv1.3
Question: I've been using this ROM almost for a day now, it's really impressive. Everything is very stable and works fine. There is only one thing, some apps are not installing from Stock market. For example Angry birds. I don't really need it, but i think it's related to the size of the app so it might come up in other big applications, cause every smaller app downloads and installs fine. Then i try to download and install it, it just starts downloading and disappears after few seconds. Deleting all cache files helps for one time, then you need to delete it again and install another big application. Is there any way to fix it without deleting the cache file?
Bug: Well this is not really a bug, just wanted to say that this ROM has really weak reception, at least until i tried your 1.4hotfix. Where i had 0 blocks i now have 2, and where i had 2 i have 4, so this hotfix definitely works for me. Thank you.
Bug2: Maybe it's just me but keyboard light is on everytime you open it, doesn't matter if it's dark or not. As far as i remember it worked differently in stock rom (maybe i'm wrong).
For the people who are asking about battery life. I have observed how much battery does it use in standby mode. And with almost the same settings as in Stock 2.1 i managed to get about 2hours with 1% of battery. It's still a bit worse than stock where i got about 3.5hours with 1%. I just recently installed reception hotfix and will try to observe the battery life now, i think i'll manage to reach about 3hours with 1%. Gona inform you all later about this.
Solution to post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13422864&postcount=9
You could move some of the larger apps on to the SD card by going to settings/applications/manage applications, select the application you want to move and select move to SD. This will make more space on the phones flash memory allowing you to download larger apps from the market. Some apps won't allow you to move them to the SD card but most seem to allow it so try a few.
I've never had this problem so can't say for sure but it seems an intuitive fix.
Cheers
Giro
well phone has plenty of free memory (168mb currently), so that's not the case. but still thanks for reply

translate to another languages
Hi Slade,
Nice work! Is there a way to translate (for my girlfriend) not translated parts. Some general way to do it? Thank you for your patience with us!
ROM: MiniCMv1.4, but Gingerbread too (is it different?)
language: Slovak
ROM: Cyanogen Gingerbread CM7 Final Sources
Bug(s): Only know problems: reboot, camera and radio
But i can use without problem.
Your work is great!
Thanks
ROM: Cyanogen Gingerbread CM17 Final Sources v13
Bug(s): Camera App is in some kind of asian language (yeah i know its listed that the app is buggy but maybe its helpfull), the radio and Barnacle keeps crashing when _stop_ it, if its on it works fine, all my devices can connect but when i switch it off, my U20i reboots. Also sometimes my U20i freezes for a few seconds, but no reboot.
Other stuff works fine, awesome rom!

Bug: Weird problem with youtube if I ear songs from youtube (or videos) and volume is at max, I ear a stranger sound coming like ever 7-8 sec °_°;
I am starting a new thread here since I did not got any mention of the problem that I am facing right now. Please help.
My device was on stock 2.2.2 ROM until I upgraded it to the 407 ROM sometime back. It was working smoothly till yesterday before I tried to root it. After installing the streakmod, I booted the device in recovery mode to apply the update of superuser.zip. However, though I am able to see superuser icon in my menu still Busy box Installer tells me that the root user rights cann't be acquired.
This was just the tip of the problem.
Now when I restarted my device, the Dell logo is coming up. However after sometime, a message is getting flashed saying that
"File system check returned status 2048. ( I dont remember exactly what file was mentioned but it was pointing to system directory. ) Please send this unit to the software development for debugging. Formatting your device".
After that I again flashed the 407 recovery and the respective package in the device. However, the problem still persists and the same message appears after 2-3 reboots. Even the stock browser is throwing up an exception and Wifi option says Error beneath it.
Before I flashed the stock 2.2.2 ROM, I had the following config for the phone -
Android version - 2.2.2
Baseband version - GAUSB1A134700-US
Kernel version - 2.6.32.9-perf
OEM Version -GAUSB1A134700
Build number - 15274
Please help. I am very much in love with this device and dont want to switch to some other phone.
Sounds like it coukd be your internal sd ard has gone bad, i was also getting the same message and my device formatting so i swapped it for a 2gb sdhc its been fine ever since

Hi andy,
Thanks for the information. But I believe that the internal SD card is not user replacable. Is it?? How much effort it required on your end ?
Yes mate it is replaceable, theres two ways to get T it, 1 is to remove the lcd from the phone second is to cut away the plastic inside the phone battery bay to get at it, i chose to open mine as i didnt wanna start cuttin plastic, it is really easy to do you can replace it with upto a 4gb, anything higher and you have to edit files etc, i put in a 2gb sdhc been fine ever since, plus the phone will automatically format for you,

Cutting the plastic is an easy job and only takes a few minutes. The upside to this method is that it the inner SD card is accessible and it only has to done once. If you have any warranty left you void that. You could even remove it and make a backuo image periodically.
I replaced mine with an 8GB, class 10 card and the phone formatted it for me. There is more info here and here.
The system files are needed if you want to use the space for other than what the system uses it for. More info on using the internal SD for other purposes here and here. In my case I ended up with over 6 GB of system space to install apps. I can keep all of my apps on the inner SD Card.
Aah thanks for that marvin, i didnt realise that, now i know that im gonna upgrade mine

I had lots of problems with mine to i think it`s the 347 base band i read every post and downloaded DSC and it works great read all there post there is a guide to follow you will have 407 running in no time REMEMBER TO READ
One thought here for the OP: why not upgrade to 360 first before trying to upgrade to 407? That might solve your issues. I can't verify whether it would work or not, since I never used the official ROM to upgrade. I upgraded the baseband the hard way and use a custom ROM.
I don't remember how off hand, but isn't there a simple procedure to test your SD card first to see if that is in fact the problem?

It's been posted many times. Info in this link.
My internal was gone bad too and crashed 4 times in 2 months. after functioning very well for the first 2 months. It appeared a read write block error on the internal SD repeating the error 4 times proved the defect.
I replaced mine without real trouble with a 8 Gb SD class 10.
just removed the old one and replaced with the new one.
mind you i tried several cards and not all were installed properly.
Now i have a huge 6 Gb for my apps and no need for App2SD or Link2SD anymore. can swap any external SD without problems for any apps that way. everything is now installed internal including maps of 6 countries for europe.
On youtube you'll find a lot of movies how to dis assemble and reassemble the Dell Streak 5.
Grts
Ted.
Please correct me if I am wrong. All the applications get installed to the internal memory by default. I don't face issues when I keep them that way. When I acutally try to move the apps to SD, sometimes the move does not happens on first attempt. Sometimes it does. I think that's where the problem lies. Is it possible that due to a corrupt external card, the streak is getting checksum error and formatted on restart?
That.s a good guess if you can repeat it afew times it has some bad blocks when software is bad removing and installing wil not solve that. It only took me as many as 4 times to be certen about it.
No genius needed for that.
I had 230+ aps installed and som other data I always wanted to have so internal is my choice. General I used 2.5 Gb .

The dev can set it up so that the app is installed to the SD card. Few apps do this, but not every app defaults to internal storage.

Alright !!
In the mean time my internal SD contains 333 aps now including 7 country map data of europe stored. My external is free for any use. Very cool when mounted by PC and no broken apps.
This streak is so cool now and despite the fact that it is an older device it still can compete very well.
The only disadvantidge is the longer boot and long refreshing the app list in the app drawer after first boot and backup apps.
Just my 2ct

UPDATE: i have been using he card now for some time but experience some systeem freezes, nog fatal but for a few sec andere up. I am ging to install he Same brand 4Gb card class 10 and that should be more than sufficient for my needs. Internal up to 16 GB is not an option i guess. IT would be even worse i guess.
Kinda new at this but decided to give it a shot. There are many variants of the SG2 and recently in Japan, AU Kddi released a beast...
As reported by gsmarena.com-"The Galaxy S II ISW11SC has a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm QSC6085 processor, 8 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, 2 megapixel front camera, 16GB internal memory, expandable memory, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC."
But being released in Japan there isn't much support for rooting on this phone. Part of the problem is most of its support and forums are in Japanese. After post a thread question, user tora201 showed me the light. He came across a japanese website with a super simple root for this phone. I decided to post it for all of us to use it with some simple instructions. Thanks tora201 for the help. None of this work is mine and all credit goes to the respective creators.
ROOT SCH-ISW11SC Samsung Galaxy S2 Wimax:
1.) Head over to this blog page, http://blog.livedoor.jp/kz_gin/archives/cat_136988.html, and download the two .zip files towards the bottom. They have the labels change_recovery_ISW11SC.zip, and root_ISW11SC.zip...or just use the attachments below...lol
2.) Copy the .zip files to a sd card. tora201 suggested using just an extra one you may have around. Place the sd card in your phone.
3.) With your phone powered off hold Volume Up, Home Button, and the Power Button at the same time until the phone boots into recovery mode.
4.) Using the Volume buttons and the Home Button as a select button, choose the change_recovery.zip from the sd card. (Y'all should know how to navigate these types of menus well, will help those that don't)
5.) Reboot the phone. Now power off the phone again and repeat step 3. Your phone should boot in to Clockworkmod Recovery. The Recovery is now navigated via the touch screen not the keys or buttons!!
6.) Like before go, select install .zip from sd....find your sd card and select root_.zip..then reboot....you should now notice Super User in your App Drawer!!!
Download Root Checker Basic to verify root access. Reinstall your primary sd card and your good to go!!
The only trouble I ran into was when installing the root.zip, it would not detect my external sd card. Repeatedly said "No Files Found". So I restarted the phone, went into the File Explorer, tracked down the root.zip on my external sd card, copied it to my internal sd card. Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery, tracked down the root.zip through the same steps above expect in my internal sd card. Worked with no charm. Im not a programmer or anything like that, so if you guys have any questions I'll try to answer them the best I can. Thanks and good luck...As always not responsible for any damage to your phone..Come on though, this one is too easy to screw up...lol

Thanks for doing Cezeff. I suppose I should probably have posted something myself after I rooted my one. Anyway, glad it worked for you! Been busy as hell perparing for the new uni. semester here.
After rooting I installed 'app quarantine' that allows you to not run/hideany bloatware for the time being. You can keep unwanted stuff in quranteed list when updated as well. Only later when absolutely sure you are sure you don't need it, should you uninstall - or risk permanent instability or worse.
Cezeff, any other tips for this phone? As I mentioned before it would be good to be able to get SMS GO PRO working with the ezweb address. Any ideas how?

Hi, sorry but don't many threads contain questions? Sorry to be rude but what's the difference? Perhaps a lot has changed in the four years or so since I have posted....
If Cezeff buggered up the thread somehow, could you tell him how to turn it from a 'Question thread' into a 'Statement thread'?
yeah i got a few other tips but right now I'm bogged down with training...ill throw some up here later...im still trying to figure out how to get my NFC working...may have to go into AU and ask...
Cheers mate! Waiting for your tips. Hope training going well! Ah, I also can't get NFC going.....
well for one the battery on this phone is already great but Juice Defender is awesome...after 15 hours i had 84%..im pretty sure your aware of that one...it seems after poking around that the NFC is lost after rooting....i tried an NFC Enabler.zip posted by another member for a different variant and no luck...hmmmmm
Cheers. Will give it a try. By the way, you know those programmes that let you quarantine apps? All good until you try un-quarantining. My advice: don't qurantine stuff you think you might need later.
from what i can tell the phone has all the required libs and software expect for the Nfc.apk.....for some reason the one i got from the other thread will not install...i searched around on the web and most NFC cab able phones have the files...
libnfc_jni.so
libnfc_ndef.so
libnfc.so
libpn544_fw.so
Tag.apk + libs
Nfc.apk
the Tap.apk installs just fine...and the other 4 files are present in the system/lib but the Nfc.apk will not install...any ideas?

Hi everyone..
i've just flashed the resurrection remix v 1.2 and every time i press Navigation bar in ROM control it crashes...any help please
http://www.mediafire.com/?5vtivjn68b4r6tz
Flash via cwm.
There is a new fix available. There was a fix posted before but it didn't work, so westcrip posted a new one. Go to main page (can go in my sig) and get it... following instructions right will help.
Also the instructions need a little fixing. This is slightly better way to do it all:
For v1.2 it works better if you do a full wipe Do a full wipe(factory reset+cache+dalvik cache), though you can try without it.. and just do the factory reset. Then install ROM and Siyah kernel and reboot to do initial setup. Then comeback to recovery mode and install navigation button fix and app themes, reboot.
thank you very much... i've done it and it worked
Glad it worked. There are still some bugs or different ways of doing things on this mod, so look over the original thread to keep up with any updates.
westcrip will be adding a new fix soon for some bugs reported by other users (no wipe will be needed to add the fix).
Hi guys,
Does anyone know if this rom supports move to SD card?
I had it fine with gingerbread, but after upgrading to ICS (Remix 9.6 and also rooted stock ics) it has not worked. Just gives a message that the App cannot be moved, but with ALL apps.
Has anyone fixed this with 9.6? I tried re-flashing with the external SD removed, but still no good. Apps storage is 2Gb, and I now have 500Mb free.
Vantiveman - yes it does (for apps that allow "Move to SD card"). Just tried a couple apps to make sure (since most I keep on phone storage).
Cool. Thanks for the feedback. I guess I will have to try this rom.
I don't suppose you know if it worked with 9.6? Currently this is working perfectly for me except for move2sd. I would prefer a fix but I will upgrade if there is no other way.

Great Rom, and yes the move to sd works. Only problem now is that the magicsim dual sim doesn't work anymore.
Might just be an issue with 4.0.4 as Simore haven't tested yet on this version. I'll post an update if the problem gets resolved.

Sorry to start a new thread but im not able to find a single topic that relates to the numerous issues im facing.
1. Screenshots : Cant caoture sceenshots, storage may be in use ( guess its the media scanner, anything that i can do ? )
2. if i delete any file with Astro/ES explorer in /sdcard0/DCIM folder : it says deleted, however the files remain there. However, mounting as R/W in root explorer i am able to. Can anyone tell me why my /sdcard0 has suddenly become read only ? it used to be fine in GB/ICS.? is there anyway i can change permissions of this folder to R/W permenantly.
3. i dont want to discuss on battery and overheating as i am following other threads. so leave this.
4. unable to save any songs on /sdcard0/music : I/O error, no space.
5. When i run disc utility like diskusage it shows i have 8.7 GB free..When i goto Settings>Storage it shows total space : 11.5 GB, Free space 8.7 GB and Application 9.2 GB. How is that possible? what should i do ?
6. Gallery : tells me to free up space by deleting something. I have no pcitures no videos in sdcard. don't understand.
7. Camera : not taking pictures. like above, it says no space.
i would have posted screenshots, but like i said it wont take.

Storage is not an issue.
device memory 760 mb free/1.97gb
Internal/usbstorage : 9.17gb free/ 11.5gb
SD card 35.21 gb free/59.36 gb
tried accessing gallery after removing sdcard - no use
tried deleting viz. ES explorer, no use... clicked on internal storage properties to find out that it is only read only (and permissions change is not allowed)
While trying to make it RW, came across this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35801231
it made internal storage RW but after 10 mins it again reverted to read only.
tried to fix permission through CWM but no use.
i guess i need to make it RW permenantly.. but just dont know how.
Until then my gallery wont open, screenshots wont work.
yes also, sometimes accidently when "process.media.android" is not active, im able to access gallery.
howver, when media is working, and i do "force stop", gallery still does not respond.
Any help wouldbe appreciated.

Thanks, here is what is did.
Backedup viz. titanium and nandroid, stored it on my computer.
Wiped data
Wiper cache
Wiped davlik
Wiped battery stats
Formatted internal storage
Formateed external storage
Did the above 2 times.
Flashed JB viz. odin
got stuck on Samsung logo, went to recovery and
again wiped data and cache
Rebooted and logged in.
First thing i see ...
Gallery app still says Not enough Space. delete unwanted item blah blah
Screenshot: Couldnt save screenshots. Storage may be in use.
Pl tell if i did somethng wrong, or maybe the ROM i downloaded is buggy.
Can someone give me a link, which they have used ..i will do it again.
By the way when i goto storage it shows the following :
device memory : 1.77GB/1.97GB available
USB storage : 11.4 GB/11.5 GB available ..(some miscellanous files : 70 MB)
SD card : 59.36/59.36gb available
thanks a lot.
should i flash 4.0.3/4.0.4 to confirm if SDCARD has errors or no need?
because i never had any issues in GB and evenduring migration from GB to ICS.
First time.
Re: [Q] S2 official spain ls8 issues
try jb leak first, see if these issues persists.
In google type "sammobile jelly bean test firmware" and hit search.
it's an LSJ package (phone, modem and csc -FLASH those 3 files ONLY-).

The file contains the following : as per sammobile
dd CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar to PDA
- Add MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar to PHONE
- Add CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar to CSC
Did you mean PDA,MODEM AND CSC or only MODEM AND CSC...
confused.
Re: [Q] S2 official spain ls8 issues
On some phones format does not format Your storage, bug i think, and maybe you use Lucky patcher and you have huge files there.
Galaxy powered by GM and Dorimanx.
Re: [Q] S2 official spain ls8 issues
Pda: Code (LSJ)
CSC: csc (LS1)
Phone: Modem (LS6)

is there anyway to format, so that nothing is left behind?
any command in terminal or any link you can give which can ensure that format is complete.
Thanks
Re: [Q] S2 official spain ls8 issues
why don't you try before formatting?
You can format your sd(s) cards in config > storage
