Hi,
so after I had installed the new Eclair onto my device, everything worked fine, but camera app started to say not available (you can choose wait or force close). What happened? How can I solve this problem?
If anybody has a good idea or something, please share! (my phone is not more than a week old...)

I am facing the same issue. I am just trying to reflash using SEUS to see if it sorts it out. I used the same image to flash a couple of other peoples X10s, and they haven't had any problems so might just be the luck in the draw...
Update:-
I have flashed using SEUS and when starting the camera from either holding the shutter button or choosing camera from the apps menu I get the same error message:-
"Sorry! Activity Camera (in application Camera) is not responding"
After killing the Camera app, it will start up but will display
"Camera not available"
After reflashing with the generic global firmware again and checking the camera before changing any other settings, it still fails.
The error message is now
"Sorry! Application Camera (in process com.sonyericsson.android.camera) is not responding"
The only options are Force Close and Wait.
Has anybody got any ideas on how to get around this issue?
I tried to rewrite camera app at system, but it was not succesful. Device is not rooted (yet). Maybe it solves?
I suffer the same problem. After a few study I doubt if the SEMC_IMX046_Camera driver is missed / corrupted on the phone which led to this 'Camera not available' symptom. Anyone able to help us out?
is it sure? if this causes the problem, all that we need to change/recover it with the original one. PLEASE HELP US!

I had this problem too! Is your phone rooted? You need to replace the SemcCameraApp.apk file
i dont know tht file even exists!!! can u tell me how to find it and install on the mobile .. its still saying camera not avaialble !

I will not create similar topic cause I have same problem, so I'll write there.
As I wrote my problem is same as speakers previously. It's really annoying. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I use stock 2.1 firmware. The most funny is that my xperia was bought just on the 1st of april so it's like a new one, whats wrong with it?

@edit: I forgoten to write that yesterday I reinstalled system via SEUS on my X10. Problem still exists.
I saw that there was a camera fix zip file posted a couple of days ago. It seems that there are people whose upgrade to 2.1 was incomplete.
I went and searched and found it archived, it was March not recently. It will try to reflash your camera firmware for HD which may be the problem if you stopped the flash progress when the 'flashing camera' icon was on the display. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991442
HOWEVER I THINK IT NEEDS A ANDROID SDK ON YOUR PC TO RUN
Another thing is that if the permissions for the camera app are incorrect it gives similar messages.
The permissions should be if you look in the /system/app directory for the SemcCameraApplication.apk rw-r--r-- if you have Root Explorer you can mod them with the checkboxes. Read for Owner, Group, Others and Write for Owner only.

taking photo with my device (both horizontally and vertically), photo always in anti-clockwise position... [please see the attached sample below]
For noise reduction:
Failure!! the background noise can not be reduced

Did you try to upgrade the camera firmware of your phone ?
Simply launch "Samsung Apps" and search for "Camera Firmware Update", install it and follow the instruction.
I expect this will solve your problem.

Is the problem exist with another camera app and/or in video mode ?
Did you simply try to reset the app parameters in the option (little cogwheel in the upper left corner, last option) ?

It is no problem with another camera (like Camera360)~
And i tried to reset the parameteres, but no change >.<
I have done a hard reset today, everything is fine, then i flash to KG6, the problem exist again...
Aimixess, are you using KG6 too? you've got no problem with it?!

I'm using KG6 Too.
In case of your Camera.apk is corrupted, you can try to flash (In CW recovery) the camera.zip linked bellow (this is the KG6 Camera.apk and Camera.odex).
I expect this will solve you problem.

its not showing a normal image. the view is Greenish in color and on clicking it says ---> Error callback.on Error(-2147483684)

It's a connector problem , to fix just press firmly to back of phone in the middle.

try to flash other kernels if you on the custom rom,
i had that problem few months ago
if you on stock rom, open setting>applications>camera
klik force stop, clear cache, clear data, reboot

Now I try to explain ,
remove battery then simultaneously press on the back camera and near battery contact .Try it this is definitely the solution I have repaired 2 phones without opening them. It is not a problem of kernel version.

hello Emax,
i swithed off the phone then removed the battery. pressed the metallic part. then i pressed the area around the camera unit on the back. then switched it on again. Am I doing it right??

PS: I have even dissassembled the phone once and then reassembled it. nothing seems to fix it.
Thanks emax2000 , your solution worked perfectly... It was indeed connector problem. Pressing the Camera and metal plate beneath the battery near the battery connector resolve the issue..
I had upgraded the OS initially to resolve it but that didn't helped.

After I updated to 4.3 irish official . i face only 1 problem it's camera it sometimes when i click on camera icon a message appears ((camera failed))
or error by error calla back i make a factory reset and wiped data still doesn't work only front camera work .

Try a Full Wipe by Deleting Everything on /sdcard.
The Option is on the Mounting Option in CWM 6 . ( Format /sdcard) .
Then just install the ROM again and it must work because it ever worked on my Phone.

If its software related, a clean install should fix it (wipes+reflash firmware).
Otherwise its a hardware malfunction, so yeah, service center. (When it happened to me it was faulty camera hardware).
maybe u can search "restart camera.apk" and install like normal apk.
click the app restart camera, and open your camera phone
hope it'll working!
and if thats not solve your problem, try with another camera. focal, etc
My problem is that I bought the phone now from 8 months ago and it was not a problem but 4 days ago I downloaded the kids police program from playstore and tried it and after removing it from the applications I entered as usual to Facebook was after you hung up the phone and restarted itself I thought it was Normal but after 10 minutes the same problem
What i did before the problem:

Search on google how to unbrick s6 edge . I can't understand what problem do you have. If your phone won't turn on then search how to unbrick s6 edge.. If your phone is turning on search flash stock Rom s6 edge..but you will lose all your data.

Yes sorry for my english because i am just bignner in english....My phone is working at this time correctly..but from 10h or 1 day somtimes he reboot automaticly...and when i install facebook or messenger he reboot every hour or every 30 min... i dont know if the problem is from facebook and messenger and right now i am deleting both of them..but my phone rebot once a day
I hope that you understand my problem..
Maybe i think that when i am installing fb or any apps need a lot of memory in my phone processor he reboot him self ...
I did the factory reset also but my problem still ...
But i will try to put a new rom from sammobile and i wish that work thank you so much brother ^ ^

After installing just messenger the problem is comeback again
I don t know what is exactly the cause if everybody have the same phone and the same apps and they have not the same problem ...
I think the problem is from processor ?also from batterie?...

I am sorry.
I will explain more now.. yesterday i try to flash my phone by smart switch pc and after flash i do wipe cach and factory reset.... and like you know in version 6.0.1 facebook and whatsapp is included after flashing phone 30 min the phone restart itselfs i disabled connexion and i sleep. In this morning i use my s6 edge again when i enter to facebook he restart again so i decide to disable facebook. After that he work very good .... but when i do update for all apps i have in phone he begin to restart again itself.and when update is finished..my phone work very good at this time ...
I don t know why when i install facebook or messenger he begin to restart itself ??

when you install facebook on your device it gets into eveything and cause issues.should be called spybook.why do you thinks it take so long to install..???

My phone work good now without messenger and facebook since 6 days so the problem 100% cause of fb and messenger apps...
