Try a Full Wipe by Deleting Everything on /sdcard.
The Option is on the Mounting Option in CWM 6 . ( Format /sdcard) .
Then just install the ROM again and it must work because it ever worked on my Phone.
Good Luck.

If its software related, a clean install should fix it (wipes+reflash firmware).
Otherwise its a hardware malfunction, so yeah, service center. (When it happened to me it was faulty camera hardware).
maybe u can search "restart camera.apk" and install like normal apk.
click the app restart camera, and open your camera phone
hope it'll working!
and if thats not solve your problem, try with another camera. focal, etc

As stated in the title. After I flashed the 2.3.3 official rom, the camera doesn't work...all I get is a 'unknown error' and ''Camera not available' error.
Any suggestions will be nice...
PS...I've restarted and re flashed many times to solve, no success.
I tried the EWJet Gingerbread Rom and I have a black screen whenever I switch on the Camera. I dont know what the problem might be !
i had the same problem with you yesterday, tried to restarts the phone but it doesn't help. but the the problem gone after a few times i restart the camera app, after phone complete making cache files - i think.
My only problem now is, how to get auto focus in HD video recording, i did'nt find any menu to enable this feature. I saw at a review topic that this feature is realy enabled

Exact same problem!
I think EW should update his modded ROM, because not only camera not working...
Lockscreen not working, home button not working and extreeeeeeeeeme lag!
He shouldn't just upload an incomplete ROM with lots of issues and ditch us poor users here fending for ourselves.

I think it is SD card related as if you un-mount your SD card it works. Weird that its only affected some of us.
Formatting the SD card worked.
Thanks for the help guys.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991442
It's related with 2.1 software, but who knows, maybe it helps you.

thanks for the link, but its for 2.1 so I don't think it will work on 2.3 The problem is fixed anyway.

Weirdly the problem has come back to haunt me again :/
I've found out that other camera apps work perfectly for example 'vignette' It just seems to be SE camera app that's the problem...

Hi been having problems with my SGS3.
The fault is it keeps rebooting its self, sometimes you can get on the homepage but after a minute or so it'll reboot again. If i use the rear camera it works fine, but as soon as i use the front camera it says camera has failed. To use the rear camera again i have to clear the camera cache. Also when i use S Voice the phone freezes. I'm using 3UK Firmware Jelly bean stock and the phone is not rooted.
So should i RMA it or is there a solution to the fix..?
Any help would be greatfull.

Believe that a software error.
Use Odin or Samsung Kies to flash new firmware.
Firmware can be found on sammobile.com
Think that should work
try a factory reset, but you will lose data, so backup first
i've done all you mentioned but no luck. RMA it this morning.
I've got another problem with camera after update to 6.2.A.1.100...
When I use Quick Shot/Launch camera - sometimes i get a message 'Error! Camera not available'
The problem is ONLY when I use Quick Shot/Launch on locked screen. When I normaly turn on camera, by using 'Camera' app from menu, everything is ok:
img19.imageshack.us/img19/5672/screenshot2013061315454.png
(copy and paste it to web browser)
I've tried repair phone by PCC but it does't fix my problem (or install fw Generic World or Central Europe).
On ICS, Quick Shot works perfect, but on 6.2.A.0.400 I've got another problem (black screen / camera FC)
Can you escalade my problem (try to several (maybe 5-6 times) Quick Shot/Launch the camera on locked screen and next lock screen)??
I tested Quick launch in Safe mode. And what?
Everything works perfect!
There must be a process which can't run the camera in quick launch (I have not installed anything apps using camera).
Which one?

I tried to clear data, reinstall software many times... anything doesn't fix my problem.
Finally I found the solution - I have installed JB MoonBreaker v3 (test) from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42565512&postcount=836
Everything was ok, so I thought 'I have a warranty to my phone so I have to back to stock firmware .100'
After flashing the firmware by flashtool, resetting to the factory defaults, problems came back
I'm sure that is not a hardware problem - only software must have a bug.

What do you mean, saying 'camera'?? When you choose 'Camera' from menu?? Or choosing Quick Launch on locked screen?
Camera - from menu always works fine for me, but Quick Launch - not always...
I downloaded .100 Generic World and problem still persists (earlier I had .100 CE).
Hi, i have a Galaxy S3 GT-19300 with a faulty camera. "Camera failed" error when i try to access it.
When i try to check the Camera Firmware via *#34971539#, i get a black screen with a grey bar at the top which says "Camerafirmware standard" , below this there no information whatsoever. After a second or two i receive a message stating "Unfortunately, factory test has stopped". The phone has never been rooted and the problem existed prior to updating to 4.3.
I've tried the following.
Clear Camera Cache
Clear partition Cache and restore phone - have restored a number of times
Reseated ribbon connector for camera
Cleared files in \Phone\Android\data\com.sec.android.gallery3d\cache (I've read this can help)
At this stage i'm not sure what to do. Does anyone know why there might not be any information displayed when trying to check the Cameras firmware? Any help would be greatly appeciated.
Baseband:I9300XXUGMK6
Build JSS15J.I9300XXUGMK6
Running Android Version 4.3
Do a full wipe and flash the latest stock firmware with odin. If still the same then it's a hardware fault.

Will give this a go. Thank you
No luck unfortunately, flashed successfully however the problem remains. Both front and rear cam fail in diagnostic menu so im guessing this is a motherboard fault as all other areas have been ruled out.
Same probelem

If you have the same problem then read the op it is most likely a motherboard fault (physical fault not software) it will need to go to be repaired:silly:
Some days ago I installed a Resurrection Remix Rom (I actually don't know which one, sorry. I just know that it's got Lollipop) and when i went to the camera it said: <<Can't connect to camera>>
I still had warranty, so I installed the stock rom (I checked the camera and it still didn't work) and I sent the phone to the company. IMPORTANT NOTE: In the warranty ticket it said <<SOFTWARE ERROR>>
The only camera I can use is the "selfies" one
When I received it, the error was fixed, so I tried to install another ROM, so I installed CM12. But... I got the error AGAIN and I haven't got warranty anymore
That's what I tried
-Install Reset Camera and Camera (CMFix) (Camera CMFix didn't open and I had Restart Camera Installed :v)
-Checking if an app is having troubles with the camera
-Rebooting in safe mode
-Holding down the volume/power/back
-Clearing Data and Cache of the camera
-Removing my SD card
-Renaming the DCIM folder
- youtube. com/ watch?v=Fa9qggQJ990 (I can't even access to that menu ._.)
-Find “Use NuPlayer” and uncheck it & restart
-Using other camera apps
-Disabling the Google Camera and using the default one
-EDIT: I installed the Stock Rom with odin and did a factory reset. I even did a "system reset" with odin. AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK OMFG. Then I tried to update the camera firmware (youtube. com/ watch?v=Fa9qggQJ990) because I've got KK now, but the "Phone/CAM FW Ver Check" is disabled. I googled my camera Cam FW Ver and it's not old
Thank you, I'ts a really annoying error. My S3 is giving me too many troubles, I'm starting to hate it... But I can't buy a new one :crying:
OHMYGOD I CAN'T FIND A WAY TO FIX THAT ERROR HELP PLEASE

If you're confident that its not a software issue, then go ahead and unroot your phone and show it once (sometimes the problem maybe that the camera slot just got loose). But 'can't connect to camera' is common from cm12 onwards. Maybe its a kernel problem. The fact that stock firmware also failed is something abnormal. Even in a few Touchwiz roms, kernel changes led to cameras not working.
Anyway, If you're still on stock rom do to the dialer and enter
*#7353# quick test
*#*#4636#*#* for test and information
*#34971539# for Camera Firmware Update and
*#7412365# Camera Firmware Menu

I guess It's a kernel problem
Thank you so much!
