Firstly wiping battery stats is useless. You can go google and check it out yourself.
And OP maybe take a look at this thread. It may be a different phone but usage is pretty similar.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878828
From what I remember the s3 is designed to display 99% when fully charged it only displays 100% when a charger is connected. Unless you have a custom ROM with it being displayed otherwise, in that case there are countless battery threads here but start with better battery stats

How the hell you came to that conclusion I don't know....every cycle is stored on your phone and by wiping the stored cycles, your battery is ultimately recalibrated! You just need to keep to a schedule, don't charge your phone if it doesn't need charging, and run your battery flat say once a week....also wipe your battery stats before and after flashing a new ROM....

When I saw your first post (in the first quote here), I was going to politely respond that the entire MYTH about wiping battery stats has been debunked and even point you to a few places you could read about it. Then I read that someone already responded with that information, and your not so polite reply to that person. So, instead of a polite reply, I think something a bit stronger is in order...
You People who post like that are an idiot. Plain and simple. It's one thing to be misinformed about something and to share that misinformation with others in an attempt to help them. It's quite another to be misinformed and to refuse to accept correct information and then to CONTINUE preaching that misinformation.
I'll save you people who post this garbage the effort of actually checking your information before spewing it and tell you from FIRST HAND information that "wiping the battery stats" has absolutely NOTHING to do with the so-called "calibration" of a battery in an android device. The "battery stats" file is actually cleared by android itself each and every time you remove your device from the charger. The kernel doesn't reference this file (or any other file in the /data partition.)
So, what does that file contain? Go into settings and tap the battery label. See that nice graph and the list of apps? THAT is what is in the battery stats file. You'll Anyone with half a brain can find a detailed breakdown of the same information with an app such as better battery stats.
If you're people with any clue how to exist on this earth are willing to actually put forth any effort whatsoever to check this out, you they can find postings from google engineers and several others. I'll be nice and save you these people some effort. How about a post from an actual google employee who works on the android system for a living?

If, for some reason, you these bad excuses for intelligent life forms aren't able to read that post (maybe it's too complex to read for a simpleton who likes to spread false information), here are links to several well known android websites which refer to it:

If you anyone really gave a damn about giving accurate information, you they could also download the full android source code and actually see what the file is used for, when it's used, etc.

Lol, I was so expecting this reaction from someone. Great insight about the topic right there, I hope that speedyjay finds it helpful.
About the issue the OP is talking about. I've been through quite a few stock ROMs and everyone showed 100% after a full charge for me. If the device goes to deep sleep asap, it lasts a considerable amount of time in such status before dropping to 99%.
Maybe you have some rogue service running? Did you tried BetterBatteryStats to get a good report?

My apologies to the OP - it was a bit rude of me to take over this thread ripping someone a new one without at least attempting to help the original poster...
First of all, are you using the stock firmware? In other words, did you change the firmware to anything other than what was preinstalled on the phone or what was pushed to the phone by the provider?
When you going into Settings->About Device, what is listed as the build number?
What kinds of applications do you have installed on the device? Would you be willing to wipe the phone (factory reset) and test the battery with no extra apps installed and no accounts (other than the google account) configured? (This is a simple way to determine if its the phone itself or "something else")
What you are experiencing is NOT normal. However, there are literally thousands of possible causes for it. Another poster suggested installing Better Battery Stats and using that wonderful tool to see what's going on. (Search for "BetterBatteryStats" here on XDA... the first thread in the search results should be to a thread dedicated to that application.)
Take care
Gary

Evidently the scanning is not frequent unless you are in the wifi settings screen, where it is assumed that you want to change settings.

So that you can actually have an up-to-date list in the Settings screen?
Don't you think it's a safe assumption that when a user enters the Settings screen, they want to change networks, and the scan rate should be changed from the default to "as fast as possible" while they're there?
Sounds like a fair assessment.. sorry for being nubby. Had this thing like 4 hours.

yes, the wifi will scan more frequently while you are in the settings menu.
Just to warn you ahead of time before you get flamed by someone.....use the search function. This question has been asked millions of times and this info is well documented in many threads.

I also noticed this and was trying to edit my build prop to:
wifi.supplicant scan interval =15 or whatever #...but it doesn't seem to work as it did on captivate custom roms.
I don't really see why people worry about wifi scanning intervals that much. I see more battery life when connected to wifi than using cell service (might be because of my 1-2 bars), and this phone is actually slow at updating out of the menu because I'm already down my street before it finally disconnects me from my wifi when I'm driving.

Not sure what the proper setting is, but 15 is VERY low. As I said - this setting is ignored when you're in the wifi settings menu, because it's assumed that if you're there you want to change networks.

Yup. Increasing the scan interval will improve battery life, however, I'm not sure what the logic for disconnecting is, so increasing it might hurt the time to disconnect in a situation like you describe.

Is it against the rules to bump an old thread? I think its not because im providing real help, or attemtping
5-15 (google) is ungodly bad... Set it to 100... 200... Turn it off? Why scan automatically?...please not 5...also the constant refresh feature people here assume is nice is actually a big waste of battery and manual searches are what i do with that patched out.
When you turn radio off it goes straight it off... I think i read that this interval also shuts off the radio? No. -edited (wrong info)- also in newer versions google flat out scans wifi even when wifi is off. Paranoid is good with google. The only problem i can imagine with autoscans off is problems with googles heavy reliance on "auto wifi scans" as their (quick messy gps)...So delete that
Also... Cell tower internet uses alot more battery than wifi.
MOD EDIT
Location services uses wifi access points to help speed up location lock with gps/glonass as the positions of GPS satellites can be estimated with a general location. Higher count will probably result in a longer gps lock time, and reduce the performance of location services that google provides. If you don't want/need this service, than disable it. When Wi-Fi is off, it does turn off the radio.
You learn something better by struggling and trying to search for yourself instead of having the answer just given to you like candy. While users on this forum provide help for free to those that need it, if the answer is already somewhere on the forum and it only takes a bit of searching to find it, people will backlash at you and question why you don't search in the first place when it clearly says in multiple places to search before you post.

My comment looks untouched, why does it say "MOD EDIT" unless i also posted about how people on xda flame noobs. Im quite sure i dont break rules since ive been using xda since it started. But sorry if i did.
Also you should of edited my bad data. bad data hurts alot more than other things imo lol
Again im actually sorry if i broke the rules.... But bad data is much worse in my brain lol
@penguin logic yeah i know about all that, in fact somewhere after 100 alot of those google services break. But its all opinion. I rather use my gps. When i say my gps i mean that thing that doesn't need internet whatsoever and can in fact place you perfectly on cached maps. I hate so much what google does with wifi but you are so right that this is totally my bias.
And about your other statement: please pm me what you wrote lol, because what stryke edited might be wrong. But from what i read you are totally right again. But alot of things can factor into why people create threads like this are created. And i actually enjoyed reading it and alot of times i CANNOT STAND people spamming threads with stuff like "go search man" or "why are you posting this repeat"
Seriously sometimes they can just say "no" or "set scan interval to 90" or something but instead they post what i see as spam. Moderators can and should deal with threads that should not exist.
Edit: I never troll, i hope you weren't saying i was trolling.... ..
The content edited from the posts was inciteful and disrespectful, hence why it was removed. After reviewing the rest of the thread, and seeing that a necro-post revived it long enough to become a feeding ground for flaming, I think this thread has run its course. Any further questions about moderator actions should be taken to PM, open forum is never the place for this. Ever.

Not so. Notorious stated that he wanted to see results on battery life. Only a few people went into very little detail about the kind of set up they have. I'm not asking about specific ROMs or kernels but more along the lines of what people actually do to obtain better battery life in terms of setting, tweaks to build.prop, and such. If you'd have read the post correctly instead of skimming with the intent of bashing due to the thread title you'd have noticed this.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Well, if you actually read his thread he wants to take in as much information regarding setup and configurations, what ROMs and kernels are used, which apps and how they're utilized (such as tasker), wireless settings (wifi, bluetooth, etc), and any tweaks implemented. Here is a qoute from his post:
"Hopefully, if people participate, we will be able to identify how people get great battery life and how some people get really bad battery life. Then we could compare personal configurations and see what settings/apps/tweaks affect battery - in a positive or negative way."
What I don't understand is how much difference do you actually see between your thread and his in terms of objectives? To me, that thread probably would have been a good place to start a conversation about your setup since you are using an extended battery and it would probably help the discussion on "calibration" for 3rd party batteries.
I apologize if you took my comments as a form of "bashing", that was not my intent. I did read your post and I was just trying to make a benevolent observation.

No need for you to apologize, after I re-read my original comment I can see how you could have took it negatively. It's very difficult to convey sarcasm and tone with just text and emoticons.
Either way, your issue is a good one to bring up (regarding 3rd party and extended batteries). What I would recommend is to use some sort of battery app that records statistics and use it for an entire charge cycle and then get some screenshots of your results to compare to results people are getting from the OEM battery. This way, more people can see the distinctions in percentage, mA and mV readings in alignment with what apps/settings you are using to see if your battery is as "burnt" as you think it is.
Here's one suggestion:

Aha an app I know well. I'll reinstall the pro version and post something in the morning. I can say right off the bat that the battery won't charge passed 3.9V. I have followed many guides in ways of recalibrating the battery and nothing. It reaches about 4,036mV at 100% and drops to around 3.9V as soon as it is unplugged.

And if there was a separate thread that the OP did not notice you could have simply linked it and ended it there, instead of being all condescending.Its this kind of talk that makes this forum an unfriendly place .
@Blueangel180
Trust me, I have questioned myself numerous times if I am overstepping any boundaries and "self-moderating". I completely understand where you're coming from so I sincerely apologize for that.
With that said, I genuinely want to help people in the forums, it just has become a hobby for me of recently. I usually spend a lot of my effort trying to help people with "low-level" issues since I'm not that knowledgeable on the "dev" side of things. But understand this, I try my best to be as amiable and constructive as possible when I do respond to queries such as this one.
I don't understand why you would suggest "reporting" this thread, there is nothing against the rules here. As for posting a link, I did. Also, while you are accusing me of condescension, you resort to name-calling and distasteful remarks.
Either way, I'll take your advice and I will attempt to be more concise and less judgmental.

Hey guys, I have been on xda for quite some time now and I have seen many such threads on battery life optimization configs. But I am always at loss when I need to refer to such threads in a summary fashion.
So I came up with this Google Docs form.
After couple of entries, the form will help draw a better picture of what configs are turning out better in general as it generates all sorts of awesome pie charts based on your entries.
Let me know if you want any entry in the form to be added, or any other kind of suggestion. You can do that here, or in the last field of that form.
====
LINKS
====
(1) F O R M <- Enter your data here
(2) Analytics Page <- Check out cool pie charts that sums up everybody's data
(3) Spreadsheet View <- Pure info, useful if you want to see what people entered in "Other" fields in the form; the Analytics page won't go into that much detail
============
DOWNLOAD XLS
============
Data as of 02/26/2012 1pm EST
Updates, few notes, and more
============
FORM UPDATES
============
02/26/2012
- Added 2 non-mandatory fields. Fill them if you know their values: Approx time spent using your phone as a phone? and Approx time spent using your phone *actively* with screen off?
02/23/2012
- Set default form fields to useful values. Earlier all unfilled fields defaulted to "Other" which skewed the charts on Analytics page. Now that's solved
- Added custom fields in power saving apps (JKay Mod, GreenPower)
====
NOTE
====
(1) I will maintain the spreadsheet regularly so that it has only relevant info. I see that some users enter just junk data to check out how the data entry in the form works. That's cool. But I will remove such entries.
(2) Even if you have already made an entry in this form, you can of course do it again. In case you want your old entry to be removed, just let me know by replying in this thread and I will remove it. Otherwise it doesn't hurt keeping the old entry in the spreadsheet. People can probably learn by diff'ing between the two (or more) entries and see what factors helped improve battery life. (Such differential analysis will be very difficult in 'other' battery life/screen capture threads.
(3) I will try to keep on adding more stuff to the form. So feel free to make a new entry now and then (probably every 2 weeks or once a month) even if you have done it earlier. You can request (as I said above) removal of your older entry. You can mention the row number of the entry (from the spreadsheet view) you want me to remove.
(4) The survey will help in fairer comparison if entries are made when your battery is closer to dying than not. Example: Enter your data when you have <20% battery life.
PS: Thanks Red for making this post the second post in this thread, I can now make a good use of it.
This is very useful, id recommend it
This is insanely organized. Amazing work from the OP.
Just added my info, this is great! Love all the info it provides! Adding to my list of subscribed threads.
why wouldn't there be a section that asks what apps people run? There are plenty of other apps that do background syncing and need to run more often than others. I would say that's a pretty important factor that this doesn't touch on. Truth is, everyone's going to be different. Everyone uses their phone differently, running different apps. People who can't put their phones down are undoubtedly going to have worse battery life. Some people have great battery life on one rom, while some on the same rom have horrible battery life. The user themself is the most important factor on battery life.

I thought about that but it's not easy to collect stats on that. I could add about 100's of apps in the form for people to tick off.. but then that will void the purpose of this form. Who is going to type/tick off all the apps they have installed?
I have already added the major known sources of battery draining apps in the last section: Google Talk, Latitude, .. There are many other battery draining apps that I have frozen on my phone that I did not add to the form: Facebook (I just access it from browser, the GUI is the same), Kik, G+. But this list is not definitive, adding such apps to the list will simply lengthen the form, thus demotivating people from entering any data at all. If people want to add such stuff, they are free to add that in that last and the only paragraph field in the form.

I agree with you. The result of this analysis is that people would be guided to try something new to improve their battery life (which they would have never heard of before). Taking my personal case, I actually crossed 1day mark without charging my phone for the very first time after I installed GreenPower. I did everything that GreenPower does using extensive Llama events but that wasn't that battery efficient. These statistics DO NOT guarantee in any way you will be able to achieve the same results, but at the least you can try.

Right on, man. I got you. Not trying cause trouble or anything. I get damn good battery life and I'm a moderate to heavy user. I have a charger in my office at work, and I also put it on the charger at home every night when I go to bed. Oh, and I got a car charger. A little overkill, but I never have to worry about battery life.
edit: i may fill it out a little later when I have more time. Not cause I need it, but to help you gather info.

Agreed, and apps are incredibly too variable to include.
Thread cleaned up and my data is entered.
Good job on the nice collaboration of data.

I dont want to start a new thread, so I rather just ask in here since it's along the same lines. With the config in my sig, so far I'm at 9hrs on battery, with 1.5 hrs screen on time and I'm sitting at 60%. I've done some undervolting, I believe I ended up at -75mV at each step. Would you consider this good battery life? I don't have a problem with it, though if I could get more, I certainly wouldn't mind.
PS, not trying to steal the thread, just want some opinions!

I think that the battery life is good but it can get better. You need to check how much the battery drains overnight if you don't keep it plugged in. Also, use the phone normally till the battery life is in single digits and then compare with what people using different configs get (in that spreadsheet). That should give you a general idea of whether or not you can get more time without charge.
Again, the battery life is dependent on a lot of parameters not covered in that spreadsheet, but whatever is covered should help you at least improve on what you have right now.
Well, I flashed the stock CM7 kernel last night, and without any under volting, its not as good, but close to what I was getting with under volting and Siyah .12 so tomorrow I'm gonna under volt the stock CM7 kernel and see what I can get. Plus, using the touch recovery is pretty fun!

Just jimmy a USB cord. Red wire positive on battery black negative. Just tape the exposed wires to the battery as suck. Plug in. Wait 30 min. Rsd then sbf back to stock.

In response to your comment, you need to understand a few things. Most moderators have more then 1 forum to police. Typically each moderator has between 4-10 forums.
Moderators do not look at each and every thread or post, every single day. It's impossible considering it's a volunteer job, and most Mods have jobs and families. And there really shouldn't be a need to on most occasions if people "behave" themselves.
Nor do most mods know a lot about the devices they are assigned to enough to be called an expert in that device. There's no need, as most have dev of their own, and know a lot of the practices which are similar.
With mods, roms or hacks, if the program causes more issues than usual, it needs to be brought to a Mod's attention. If it isn't then the responsibility lies on the users of the forum for not reporting it. As I stated, it's not our job to look at every individual post.
Reporting a post or thread is pretty simple. There's a "report post" in each post title bar. Also, in each main forum, the mods are listed at the bottom right of the page.
As with this "pudding" thread, it was only reported this morning as far as I know. Also remember, a lot of bricked devices, are also due to not following instructions, and not necessarily the hack or app. But if the app bricks devices right and left, it needs to be brought to a mods attention. Not just post useless comments in the thread.
So the responsibility of reporting these things, lies with the users of the forum. If it's not reported, then nothing happens.
Thanks for understanding this.

Really, we mods rely on the more experienced users to help. ie: I have no idea which kernels for the Photon are GPL compliant for example. I would hope that the more experienced users would know and report them. Yes, it happens quite often
And one more thing, if a mod closes or deletes a thread, or assigns infraction points, a user "can" send a PM to that mod and argue their position. Sometimes, it's more of a misunderstanding.

BANG HEAD!!
I have been flashing ROMs/Kernels etc for about a year so no a little. After testing Doris new 9.43v15 kernel I lost root, nothing unusual there, could get it back simply by dirty flashing PAC ROM again. Decided I wanted to go back to an earlier back up of Carbon ROM when I had Doris 9.43 earlier version running fine with no unroot issues. Used Hawkerpauls GS2 ROMnuke to clean my ROM then discovered nothing worked in CWM (just click and back to CWM first menu screen). So I powered off to which I got this message: root maybe lost - re root now yes/no - I clicked yes and then boot loop on Samsung logo. Tried to go back to CWM, CWM screen appears briefly with logo in bottom right, however blank screen and no menu for recovery.
Unfortunately my mini usb post is knackered on my phone, will charge but will not connect to pc. I have been using ADB wireless to connect with my phone but don't know how/if I can find this without phone switched on and running a ROM. Remember the ROM wipe I mentioned earlier - problem - NO ROM TO BOOT INTO! - Phone enters download mode fine though.
Only thing I can think off is sending my phone off and paying £50 excess on my insurance to get them to fix it, I have checked with a couple a local phones shop but they will charge £30 to fix it but say it could take 5 days! These are both last ditch solutions as I'm sure you can all appreciate I really don't want to be without my phone
I have searched XDA but can't find any solutions to this specific problem, if anyone has any ideas or knows where I meant find info that could help I would be very very grateful
SOLUTION:
Finally - it is done, my phone is resurrected and able to flash with pc odin once more. The solution - pay a guy £25 to fit new usb port!
What I have learnt:
If root is lost it is best to flash a new kernel with root before using gs2romnuke
That usb connection is really important so as to have access to odin via pc if all else fails
That some people are very good at laughing at others but seemingly struggle to laugh at themselves lol
Oh - and that M.O.P. = Mobile Odin Pro - I just worked it out all on my own haha
Thank you to those who have tried to help.
1.only an idiot flashes stuff without having the facility to use pc odin.
2.use the backup phone you have in case your primary phone develops a fault.
3.read the usb threads and order one from ebay.
4.or pay the repairer to fix usb port.
5.use mobile odin pro next time.

I thought Q&A was supposed to be friendly? Having looked at your profile and reading the posts that others have 'thanked' you for I can see you are consistently rude. I wonder - how do you think this could possibly help anyone? It's people like you that make XDA extremely off putting to new people who are trying to learn. I thought XDA was supposed to be a community based on being helpful? Were you never new once? Or maybe when you were you were bullied yourself and that's why you have now become one!
As stated in my post, I have come to the conclusion that I would need to replace my USB port, I really can't see for the life of me how using mobile odin pro could have helped when I had already lost root from within my ROM?
If anyone does have any suggestions for regaining use of my phone without replacing the usb I would be very grateful
Never mind the rude remarks buddy, because he still did try to help you, so forgive and forget, as for your problem because of the nuke script your recovery has also been wiped off and since you don't have anything on your phone to boot with(no kernel, no recovery or anything else for the matter) you need to somehow get a kernel or something inside and sadly for you the only working option is through a PC by using heimdall or Odin. So I suggest you read up on methods for replacing the USB manually or get someone else to do it, there are excellent guides by user keithross which might help you.

Thank you, I'm being oversensitive due to being ill as hell due to a chest infection that just wont shift, and then this with my phone, just having one of those days. Yes, forgive and forget is a much better option.
That's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for from you and I will certainly check out keithross guide.
I think my post was extremely helpful.
1.Maybe youll think twice about doing the same again.
2.Get a backup phone.
3.Youll know what to buy and all the pitfalls about usb port replacement.
4.5 days will soon come and go,and £50 is chicken-feed.
5.M.O.P is a great app.

And Ive been accused of theft/breaking the law on here.......which was false.
Youve been accused of being an idiot.....which is not false.....so I think I have a right to be more aggrieved on here than you should.

1. My phone was rooted long long before my USB got effed. - I didn't realize your advice could lead to psychic abilities!
2. LOL - I have a back up phone, but its sh#t!! Its an old council work phone, horrible - really horrible.
3. I was never after your's, nor anyone else's sympathy come to that.
4. I found a local dealer who has the part in stock and can fix my phone tomorrow for £25 which I agree is 'chicken feed' in the scheme of things.

Our international friends may not know what NHS is so I will explain - NHS = National Health Service, I don't think USA and other regions of the world are as fortunate to have these services. Perhaps you struggle to understand the nuances of convivial conversation, are you apergic? If so please accept my apologies, my step son is aspergic and he has know idea of social norms. If not, are you narcissistic? That I would say is true !!!
P.S. - if you can't take it don't give it out, I could go on like this all week long as I really have nothing better to do because I am off work and ill!! I'd much rather just be friends as I'm sure you have a lot to give and I could learn much, just play nice after all this is all in a forum that states:
"Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 > Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting ... [ Newbies][Experienced Users][RCs] New members friendly Q&A thread."
- which part of that was it that you didn't understand?
How are you aggrieved exactly, what is it that you think I have done - stated the truth about your behavior?
I dont know what apergic is......but im definitely sadistic.You can accept or disregard anything I say,and also in life you get criticism thrown at you....its life.
After my input,you may now be in a better situation for future standing regarding the importance of being able to resurrect a phone by having the ability to use pc odin.
Once you hang around here longer,youll see loads of other characters,like you,that are totally oblivious about the importance of pc odin.Then they act like they cant live without a phone.Question is,how the hell did they survive 20 years ago before mobile phones were in service etc.
Ive nothing against you personally,I just find it ridiculous how people like you,and the othets,take unneccesary chances with a device that they cant seem to live without.
And finally....at least that council phone works.....lol

LOL - for you:
Asperger's syndrome
1. a developmental disorder related to autism and characterized by awkwardness in social interaction, pedantry in speech, and preoccupation with very narrow interests.
I get your point, but really, there was very little I could do other than what I am doing now, which is to get it fixed! I reiterate - the phone was rooted prior to the usb getting broken, so, in affect what you are saying is that people should not root their phones if there is risk of not being able to connect to a pc, which means no one should ever risk rooting.
I think there is a place for your 'flaming' approach to people who don't know as much as you, but it certainly not here in a 'friendly, new peoples' forum. Fire away all you like in developers forums, I think you should stick to the rules here though and I suspect you would be the first to point out when others don't follow forum rules.
Your point about me saying 'I couldn't live without my phone' is ridiculous, it was just a figure of speech, if your car broke, would you not want it fixed asap? Not a lot of difference. I think you are making a big fuss over nothing, simply semantics.
I just think it's a shame that you feel the need to try to embarrass new people who are simply asking for help in a forum that is set up for just that Are you really that insecure? Is your self esteem so low?? LOL :laugh:
Maybe you could spend your time learning about the s2 than doing free psychological evaluations.You keep mentioning being rooted,whats that got to do with the price of cheese.Theres plenty of people on here have done absolutely nothing to their phone, and end up in the same, or worse situation than your in.
Also,since you think your so smart in sniffing about my posts/profile/state of mind, you could maybe hit the report button, and see what a mod makes of any rule infringements.
As for your "doing without a car" scenario, lets me just point this out;
I can use my wifes car I.e we have a backup car
I can do without my car for 2 months;I just done it a week ago
When I can actually be bothered working....I do it in my taxi

Edit:I mentioned mobile odin pro because most of the regulars on here say that it has less flashing problems/better success rate than recovery/cwm or pc odin.This has been discussed/argued about in the past.

Ooooo - did I get under your skin or something? Getting a bit close to the mark?? Just as you enjoy making your opinions public and having your say, so I am doing the same. Remember it was your choice to join in on this thread and start being insulting. If you don't like what you have got back maybe you will think twice about the way you communicate on a registered new peoples Q&A. You never know when that seemingly young little dog might bite back. If you don't want people to look at your profile then I suggest you keep it 'private' - there is a button for it, have a look. Isn't that line "I here the iphone5 is pretty good" getting a bit old now? I have seen you use it in quite a few of your recent posts, maybe you could think of a new one lol!
As I said to you previously, if you don't like getting it back maybe you shouldn't start in the first place.
BTW - your opening comments are ridiculous, what you say makes no sense - what point exactly were you trying to make anyway? Of course people come on here because they end up having problems, and they come to learn and try and find solutions.
Like I said, I have all week to continue this, although I agree with you that our time could be better served in actually helping others than bickering.
I have asked you some questions in this post, they really don't require a response as they are rhetorical (that means for you to think about) Now I suggest we agree to disagree, stop squabbling like school children and end this now. I am quite secure in myself, although I suspect your pride could take much more of a battering else you wouldn't have reacted so badly to my response's to you. And yes, I do indeed have the training and skills to 'psychoanalyze' as you say.
Maybe we can both stop taking our selves so damned seriously, as for reporting you, why would I want to do that, maybe just to give a moderator a good laugh? Now, shall we agree to move on?
That thread you mentioned earlier is actually a "sticky", which is slightly different than this area of the forum.Your topic is not in that thread, it is a separate entity.
Now,Im going to evaluate you;
I think that rather me calling you,or actually "inferring" that you are an idiot,would have received the same reaction as if someone else had said anything along the lines of
"Why are you opening up a new thread etc"
or
"Stop being lazy and search as this has been covered many times before"
You would view them comments are unhelpful, and maybe start doing free evaluations on them.
It is you that is more upset about our exchanges,as your veiled attempts at insults/abuse demonstrates.
You contradict yourself and if you dont like someones answers, you alter them to suit your own ends.
Your very,very easily wound up,and display a inability for rising above criticism.
Now Ive wasted enough time on this,so Im not commenting any further in your thread.

LOL! seems to me like it is actually you that is struggling with 'rising above criticism' and yes, you are right you have wasted a lot of time commenting in my thread, I'm sure it will give others a good chuckle though. You see, what you fail to understand is that I simply don't care about what you say about or think off me, I do however care about the next new guy that wants a bit of help and that's exactly why I'm prepared to stand up to your bullying nonsense.
Now maybe after all you do possess psychic abilities as you clearly seem to know what I think and would do in other circumstances than I have even considered, the thing is though, that no one else did say any of those things, it was only you!
And contrary to what you say the only other senior member that has commented was indeed extremely helpful and fill of useful suggestions rather than sarcastic criticism. I don't think this exact topic has been covered many times before and if it had, why has no one directed to a the relevant thread? Interesting huh
Have you looked at @Hopper8 thread about problems with odin. And have you tried cleaning the usb port. Different leads? Many things you can try and most if not all are in that thread. :thumbup:

Tried cleaning USB and there was a shed load of fluff and goodness knows what in there, also tried cleaning with a tooth brush and surgical spirit, still get failed to recognize USB error on pc though. I will look at the thread you suggested now. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Edit: I know the lead and ports on my pc are fine because they work perfectly on my wife's i9100.
Edit: Thanks, excellent thread by hopper8, I will be referring others to that thread, unfortunately nothing there that helps in my particular situation, just going to have to pay £25 to get new USB out in tomorrow as I don't fancy attempting it myself, looks kind of tricky!
This topic has been covered here more times this year than I've had hot dinners. Seems people's USB ports/boards are dying as the phones are getting close to/out of warranty.
As to why people wouldn't direct you to/give you a link to a specific thread, we have these two things called Google & XDA search. We don't spoonfeed stuff to n00bs purely because they ask to be/are incapable of doing the aforementioned searches. Why would I take x amount of my time to find a thread for you when you're more than capable of doing it yourself ?

I disagree, XDA is big and Google huge and after searching extensively I could find no conclusive answer to my specific query. That doesn't mean to say it's not there, just that I couldn't find it. I see on this forum time and time again new people struggling to navigate their way around these forums, perhaps if people were given a little more help to learn to 'search' maybe people would learn quicker saving the less tolerant purple on xda their precious time and effort to read what they consider to be tiresome threads.
Which leads me to my next thoughts, if your time is so precious and this specific subject has been covered so many times and is so boring, why would you 3 read it let alone comment??
Have you tried in adb to reboot recovery.
Or flash a recovery.img

I have tried to find my device using adb but because my USB port is knackered my PC doesn't recognize the phone which means adb doesn't see it also. I used to use adb via WiFi but understand this is only possible to do once the phone is switched on and running a ROM. Since I wiped using gs2romnuke I don't have a ROM to boot into, I have looked to see if there is a way to get adb via WiFi from download or boot loop but can't find any way to do this.
Thank you for your time and help Andrew, it is much appreciated

I have to say, no way you're getting it going again unless you can PC flash using Odin/Heimdall after running that ROMNuke script (I use the same script & have had similar issue once.) However, that brings me to my next point.. I was able to flash stock via Odin no problem in download mode. My USB port was working fine, because I'd recently replaced it. I know you rooted your phone before the USB port stuffed up, but moral of the story is, fix hardware defects immediately (volume keys, power keys, USB ports, whatever it is). You never know when you'll need them functioning correctly, as you unfortunately found out.
Not trying to have a dig, that's a friendly word of advice from my own experience.
