My first question would be why its different. I will say cdma workshop. But anymore talk about that is frowned upon. Also why does it matter that they are different?

The talk more than that is frowned because changing the ESN in any way is ILLEGAL. Doesn't mean it can't be done though. Just will not find it on XDA because this is a Law Abiding Oraganization.
OK well thanks for the info

Figured it out the 3d I bought from cl was flashed to boost so is it still illegal to return the ESN to original (flash back to sprint) ?

To elaborate, the screen is WAY better. And the camera is WAY better. The speed is better, but I wouldn't upgrade solely for that (my limited experience with a gnex was positive in terms of speed and fluidity).

I had a gnex and switched to the EVO and am not looking back.
I have the sprint S 3 but there's no 4gLTE in my area, would I be able to get the international version and use that on the sprint network? Cause lte is the reason you can't use the quad core right?

Yea, different sections, not allowed? I remedied it.
Fixed.
Thanks for the heads up...

Yup np. Well its I guess like spamming and if the mods saw it, there would've been a fiasco here!

Any info bout the lte?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
The international version doesn't have CDMA radios.
Lte will be rolling through the country later on. Get the quad if you don't want to wait til that happens

No no no, it won't work. Sprint uses CDMA radios, the international has GSM radios. You misunderstood.
Sprint is cdma but LTE is GSM technology. Just to complicate things.....

But the international has no LTE. So it will absolutely not work on Sprint.

People still use CDMA? Crappy technology, is crappy.

I so agree with you!!! I want to go to ATT or TMobile because they're GSM Networks but Sprint is giving me a crazy deal that I could never drop.

In much of the US CDMA coverage is superior to GSM coverage. I almost never do not have at least CDMA for voice. When I was with ATT on a GSM phone that was definitely not the case.
Well maybe TMobile is better. I find with Sprint. I only get service in about 60% of the places I go

My brother is thinking of getting an EVO 3D off ebay and it has a bad ESN but he wants to use it with Virgin mobile would that work or once it's a bad ESN it doesn't work with any provider?
Need to switch it with a new one... Which is illegal. Though I do have a broken virgin Android phone with a good esn
Sent from my SGH-T769 using XDA
Hmm illegal eh? Seems like he shouldn't get it then ha. Thanks for the quick answer.
A Bad ESN shouldn't activate ither way :-/

Yeah he want's his first smartphone and bad ESNs are cheaper but now I see why. :/
He seems convinced he can do it -_-

Some providers will allow and network compatible phone on like boost. Virgin only allows web from phones they sold, so whether it's a good or bad sen does not matter. It has to be one in their system. As mentioned, you'd have to change the esn which is illegal. Possible yes, illegal yes.

I was talking with my friend the other day he is an AT&T regional manager and he said that unlocking my photons gem radio and buying service with AT&T was a federal crime. I do not believe it is but can someone give me some better info on if it is or is not?

he is full of crap/ it's your phone you can do what you want with it. and i'd tell your friend if he doesnt know what hes talking about to STFU
Alright thanks for the help

Lots of people unlock their radio for AT&T, no one is in jail yet.
I think he just wants me to buy an ATT phone
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
either he is woefully ignorant or he is lying to you. If he is lying to you, than he is not your friend.
Well he it was illegal because of ESN writing but unlocking the GSM radio does not write an ESN correct?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
1. unlocking GSM radio is not ESN writing
2. ESN cloning of another phone you own and have not activated is not illegal (i.e. you are not using 2 phones with the same ESN on a network)
3. ESN cloning of a phone you do not own for the intent of stealing signal is illegal.
Hmmm do GSM networks even use ESN's?

Is this possible? My friend just purchased a Samsung galaxy and he'd be helping me out a ton if I could put him on my plan (got a line on constant seasonal stanby).
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Does anyone know about this?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I don't think you can because the ESN would have to be already loaded into their system, and there is no way to have them load it
