Is there android web browser without tab support? Just one web page at a time, so I don't have to close tabs from previous sessions all the time.
... can't you just not open any tabs, and there won't be multiple tabs?
Sent from my MB508 using xda premium
I do not open them. For example: I'm in facebook app and I click on link, it opens in browser. I return to facebook and click on another link, it opens in new tab with first link opened in first tab. I tried default browser, dolphin, firefox...
Ah. I see. I doubt there are any browsers without extra windows/tabs, but I work around this problem by closing the window and tapping back to go back into facebook or whatever. This way, I'm only left with my homepage and the newly opened window.
I know its not a perfect solution, but it seems like a stock feature as to not disrupt any previously opened windows in case you were doing something on them.
Btw, have you tried out opera mini? I have this feeling it doesn't add extra tabs... but its not such a great browser
Sent from my MB508 using xda premium
I tried Opera Mini (its great when there is no hsdpa) and it opens new tabs also
I'd be interested in this for my father - anyone found a solution in the two years since OP?
I didn't found anything... ?

What browser do you use?
I've tried opening posts on the browser and then back to Tapatalk to open another thread on the browser and the old tab was not there...
And also of your browser does support tabs, can't you close the tab BEFORE going back to Facebook?

I use Chrome and it is not big problem for me. But, there is lot of people buying cheap Android phones and they always need help with them and every one of them have like hundred tabs open in browser. So I'm surprised that Android even let that happen... And I think that people don't know how to close tab in Chrome, they even don't know what that number means.
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Free mobile app
I would agree on low end devices, it would be an unnecessary amount of resources assigned to chrome...
But I'd think that chrome would me killed by Android if not used...

Firefox Focus seems to do the trick. However it is not for every day use, because it is made for privacy. Maybe you might try to install usual Firefox and then search for an extension that blocks "_blank" attribute of the page. This attribute is responsible for opening new tabs.

Done a search but nothing of relevance came up in these forums.
Just got my phone today and so far just using the stock browser which seems ok but undoubtedly there are better browsers out there, i always used X-Scope on my SGSII but im a bit tired of that now and looking for something else,i hear Chrome for ICS is supposed to be very good, so what browser is everyone using then?
Chrome is not that great on s3 yet, it lags and has touch delays..stock browser is undoubtedly the best browser I have tried . It gets the work done. Only thing I don't like is how you manage tabs . Try dolphin browser, should run as stock but with some enchanced features

Well the built in browser works really nice, but i personally like
firefox and that you can use addons like adblock and so that i value
a lot personally.
Though I don't currently have the S3 yet, I'll probably use Boat Browser. Easy to use and has been the best I have used for my tastes. It'll be the fist I install when I get my S3.
Dunno where you heard that Chrome 'lags', that's definately not the case. Alright, you don't have Flash. I always thought of it as a huge drawback but I haven't missed it a single time and I've been using Chrome for Android since the very beginning.
It has great tab management, staggering performance and a brilliant look. One of the best things about it is the integration with your desktop Chrome (and all other versions of Chrome you might be using.) Open tabs are synced in real time so let's just say you want to open a link from your phone on your desktop. no more mailing it around, now you can just click on it on your desktop. The bookmark sync is great too. And it's Chrome.

Use Chrome. Also install Flashify. In the rare instance you launch a site that needs flash, just click share, flashify, then select an alternative browser. The page you were browsing is then opened for you.

I didn't hear it, I experienced it. Visit www.aftonbladet.se with both stock browser and chrome. While stock handles the website like any other..chrome gets real messy. The touch response like 1-2 seconds after you started to pan. It's just me?

That site works a treat for me. Or at least, I think it does, I can't read that language, so I can't tell if it's somehow horribly broken something or not

I just froze the s3 stock browser using titanium backup and copied the browser from my s2 cm9 rom into /system/apps. It works brilliantly! Need root though
So far, the stock browser is doing it for me

Does a bit at first, but once you pan through the entire Page and it loads up all the content its fine.

ICS Browser+ for me. Persistent user agent switch, customisable quick controls, negative colour mode, everything I could possibly need in a mobile browser.

Chrome still sucks for me even after you let it fully load pages . Zoom in and out pinching and panning it just freeze-lags on me all the time . You guys force gpu acceleration?

Stock browser works well here.
Before I used Dolphin, but there's a bug or something. When double tapping to zoom in on an area on the page it always zooms in to the left of the page (instead of the area you double tap)
Do more people experience this bug?
Dolphin Mini - best interface, not a ton of features
Dolphin HD - alright interface, just works
Opera Mobile - most like a PC, best comparability with websites that give trouble, has hardware acceleration, super smooth
Stock - smoothest, least features, and has problems downloading certain types of files, or downloading at all from hosting websites
I had this option in GB with my htc browser, but I can't find anything similar to it on my note. What I want is the text on a web page to automatically fit the screen when I zoom in/out, so I don't have to constantly scroll from right to left. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well,
that is certainly a nice feature, and one i miss as well. But i've found my way around this issue for the most part by using other browsers..
I like opera, Dolphin HD, Boat browser, Chrome beta, and have settled for now on dolphin..
this link has some pretty good info on browsers, and although it's not a perfect answer, it should help you find a suitable replacement of the sense based versions...g

Use Chrome. IE and Safari are not available for Android (thank god...).

For me, a Browser needs to support Flash, have a good speed dialer(which can be set as the home page), a good bookmarks manager, a good password manager and if it is fast as well then I'm happy.
Other than the Boat browser, I'm finding it quite difficult to find many browsers which meet these basic requirements.
The well known browsers like Chrome, Dolphin, Opera etc. have all abandoned Flash or don't have built-in password managers or lack good speed dialers which can be set as the home page.
The only other browser that I've found which almost meets my criteria is the Maxthon browser, but that does not have a password manager.
I use Keepass as a backup in case my Boat passwords get lost and that can be used to copy and paste login details to browsers. But for some reason it does not work with the Maxthon browser.
Are there any other browsers besides Boat which does the basics well?
I use the AOSP browser, and floating browser occassionally, but AOSP browser for all other things.
Have you tried Naked Browser or Lighting Browser

My 2 cents, Get the ocean browser , Amazingly smooth ,
Even maxthon does the job well , but ocean is amazing with its pie interface
Is there any chance on enabling the desktop version the time.

Thanks for your suggestions. But I really need a browser that includes a password manager because I have a lot of passwords and the Boat browser seems to be the only browser which includes a good free password manager.
Like you wrote -> Boat Browser!
Found it yesterday and its just awesome. Small (3MB), Java support, awesome smooth flash support, memory friendly, highly customizeable!
Pure awesome!

Yes, get the app chrome UA changer. There you can set it once permanently to desktop and uninstall it
+1 Boat browser. You need to enable Flash support in settings after you install it.

Have you tried Ocean browser? Very smooth on the Nexus 10. Not sure if the password management is as robust as you need but give it a try. Mine works with flash player 11.1.115.27.
Hello,
I just found a very unique and good Browser in my opinion which I wanted to share with you:
Its called UC browser Hd for tablets. The standard UC browser for Android is also good but the tablet version rocks on the Note 2.
I installed it on my Tablet and then transfered the apk file to my note 2, because playstore wont let you install the HD tablet version.
At first I thought: Too different takes too long to get used to. But after using for a short time I love it. And Flash is handled better than at Dolphin, Stock, Chrome, Firefox, in my opinion.
So, if your looking for a browser give it a try.
Greetings Richard

I agree browser is good but unfortunately I had to move to different one because in some cases I could not login to websites. Basically it didn't recognise my username and password which is odd. At the moment I use boat browser which is great as well. I also changed dpi to 260 for better visual experience. Btw. Dolphin browser drains the hell out of my battery.

'd you guys try tint browser?
Tint is horrible. One of the worst I ever used.
Uc is pretty nice but honestly I just can't give up tab sync with my other devices and tab switch via swipe. Chrome is just too good.

It's a shame that chrome doesn't support flash. It would be perfect otherwise.

hi,
i just started using chrome few days ago. the main reason is that it can sync everything from my laptop to my tablet and phone. I can live with it although it is not the best browser.
anyway, there is a big problem that has been annoying me since i started using it. as it does not support flash, can i force youtube links to open with youtube app?
thanks
Good question. Thats a prob u get with other browser too. And same thing arrives when u view a twitter account. It opens on the web instead of the app whereas with stock browser it opens with the app.

Nvm, change to next browser now because chrome sucks. Able to sync my bookmarks too
