So I'm selling my Samsung GS3, and to do so need to revert everything back to stock. However I'm unsure which firmware to flash it back to as there are quite a few options.
I bought the phone on an O2 contract so at first I thought I'd have to download the O2 specific firmware from Sammobile. Just booted it up and everythings fine but when I first got the phone it never had any of the O2 branding while booting or anything like that, do I need a different firmware?
I'm currently downloading I9300XXBLG8_I9300OXABLG8_BTU because it was the only unbranded one I could find, but no idea if its correct or not.
Help!!!
that should do it, any UK stock ics will be ok, just remember to use triangle away before the flash and do factory reset after the flash and all will be back how it should be

Lol.....I do it occasionally, just for that reason, and to have a good clean out, always get frustrated with Samsung though!

as i have gone through quite a few threads looking for reassurance before sending the phone back to warranty due to screen/display problem.
I've CF-Root the phone for root access and unlocked to be on TELUS using heroiz's Galaxy S2 Unlock app off the market. I got a USB jig ordered in transit and hoping someone can confirm a few things before sending it back or calling SamSung.
- Items to remove before sending for warranty,
- Yellow Triangle - USB Jib or flashing stock kernel
- Reset the counter - USB jib
one gap that i have yet to determine or come across in other threads.
once i remove the yellow triangle and reset the counter, would the usb also reset the ODIN mode and revert the ROM: from Custom back to Original?
or should i flash a stock kernel on top of those to get it back to default as much as possible?
Thanks
You don't have to flash anything as the jig will reset it all to default. Know however that this only changes what appears in download mode. If you boot up the phone and go to phone info, you will still be able to see that the phone has custom firmware installed.

Rovah, appreciate your comments, so would u suggest flashing the stock kernel over just to be safe?
thanks
There is no stock Canadian firmware released yet (or at least there wasnt this morning). So you might not be able to return to the original state.

You can. But it's still not stock and they have the right to deny your warranty claim. They can also deny your warranty claim based on the fact it's unlocked.
Just read the Bell warranty doc.
So, good luck with that!

Hey guys I asked Bell Mobility about an official upgrade for the Galaxy s2. But, I got nothing from them. They just told me to either contact Samsung or to contact a phone number they gave me. But I'm almost positive everyone else I call will give me similar replys. So if you guys know anything please post!!

Darn... well I tried to flash my s2 but problems occured (such as application error forcing me to leave the application and a pop-up would show, or random shut downs). This made me to flash back to the stock Bell firmware, but even after that there seems to be some problems and also the bootloader logo is now changed to a i-9100 logo instead of a i9100m logo. Please help. I did follow all the instructions that were given in the threads to flash but I guess I messed something up.... Any ideas?

I'm not sure.. I might want to send the phone in for repair. There seems to couple of problems that reappears even after reinstalling firmware.. so... I'm not sure. I just want to know how to install a firmware that would make everything work correctly on my galaxy; within the warrenty limits.
Check here for a thread along the name of "how to update bell galaxy s2 to 2.3.5" it explains everything.

If you want logo back then flash bell kernel and I do a full wipe. Your i9000m will be back. Actually if you had followed flashing instructions properly you would not have problems with 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 either.
You obviously need to learn more but here is a free tip. Don't even dream sending it for service to bell with i9000 logo! Or any traces of flashing. You would be better of if it was dead. That is unless you like to pay for out of warranty repairs.

Yep I tried everything.
1) download the firmware I want to use.
2) check kies and all of its applications are closed
3) turn phone off
4) take sim and memory card out
5) get it to download mode and insert usb
6) turn on odin and input all the downloaded files
7) start the odin program
8) once everything is downloaded and loading is complete on the sgs2 take the usb port out
9) finished!
These are the procedures I take.
Anything missing or should I correct?
And also, how do you change the bootloader?
PLEASE HELP.
And what other ways can Samsung detect that I flashed???

Is there a way to put the phone to the way it was when it came out of the box. ie: have the normal bootloader and firmware?

Do a factory reset. Then flash the orignal Bell firmware, kernel, modem and CSC. Downloads are listed in this thread. If you want to send it in for repair then you will then need to buy a $5 USB jig off ebay to reset the custom ROM counter before sending in for repair.

Hey guys, picking up an s2 from bell Canada today. Plan is to sim unlock and throw a custom rom on it for the wife.
Any tips or tricks I should know?
We have a captivate so I'm familiar with odin. Is the flashing process close to the same? Cwm still reside in the kernel?
Also what rom would you guys recommend for daily use?
Thanks!

Everything is identical when it comes to flashing between the captivate and sgs2, since you're running aokp on the cappy try aokp on the sgs2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854

well, she tried stock, she didnt like it. wants aokp back.
so to root stock ics i had a cwm.zip file on the sdcard that when i booted to stock recovery i could flash and then use cwm...
long story short...i tried to do a factory reset with cwm...and BRICK
no download mode, no recovery, no charging display, nothing.
i have tried a usb jig but no dice either..
am i SOL here boys?
You can't install unsigned zip's on a stock recovery, you should know that by now, you need to flash a modified kernel. Where did you get this cwm.zip file from?
it was in the thread i followed to root ICS,
i figured if it could flash SU it should be able to factory reset....guess i was wrong.
it was stock recovery but stock recovery would flash the cwm.zip, then reload recovery into cwm..figured it was safe to factory reset....
unless anyone has any ideas, im sure shes a paperweight...
What thread and which file was it?
Flashing a zip still shouldn't brick the phone, pull the battery and then put it back in and try the usb jig again.
I used this for root..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
Worked great.. But I had the genius idea that I could use that cwm. Zip to factory reset... Then flash...
Pm me i can give you my gtalk. If you have any ideas.
I've tried my usb jig... But I'm unsure if it's good or not. I'll test it on my cappy...
Edit.... Im pretty sure it's supposed to work on the cappy as well... No dice.. Hmmm... How close does it have to be to 300kohms?
from my HTC One X using xda premium
ok verified my usb jig does now work on my cappy....but brings no life to the s2
should i try samsung warranty or the guys that can jtag??
or is there any last ditch efforts?
going to leave the battery out overnight...try again in the morning..and cross fingers.

As the other guys said, you may have the stock ics already on your phone when you bought it. And hard reset won't affect the android version as it only erases the data, settings or even files on your phone. You could check www.sammobile.com or look for threads here which contains stock Gingerbread and you need to flash it through odin, the high tech way

I just got a new phone, my mom bought it for me with the money we had saved and she hasn't even paid it whole yet.
I rooted it fine, but then I tried flashing CM10 on it, everything went smoothly but then it got stuck on the CM startup/splash screen or whatever it's called... when I turn it off it automatically reboots and the same thing happens.
it was locked to a carrier, that was probably what screwed it up... I don't know what to do...
if you need any info, please ask. I might know it.
