He guys. I've been trying to sort my friends X10i that's stuck on the boot screen displaying either the Sony Ericsson logo or a camera icon with an arrow pointing down towards an image of the phone,
He told me he tried to update the phone with SEUS and it switched off half way though. Since then it just hangs at boot as described above.
I have tried using SEUS. The phone is recognized and the process goes all the way to 100% but when I try and reboot after completion it just hangs again. Interestingly every time I connect it to SEUS it tells me there is new software available.
I have also tried using FlashTool 0.9.8.0 and these ROMS:
Sony Ericsson X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897
X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_GLOBAL-GGL_GENERIC_1232-9897
X10_1.0_SE_StockRom_MultiTouch
Like SEUS, FlashTool reports that ROM flashing was successful and ask me to reboot but the same thing happens. It hangs.
My friend bought the phone second hand and so has no idea if it was running a stock or custom ROM or had a locked or unlock bootloader.
I've searched high and low on the forums for an answer and can't find one.
Can anyone help?
try flashing the doom kernel from flashtool
Hey finalbillybong dont despair, all is not lost.....yet
First be sure the phone is fully charged - like overnight....
Try playing around with flashtool... its quite powerful... go to 'help/ check drivers' and see what happens.
Just be sure to flash the right kernel (its easier to .ftf files) for the right rom. Some work really well together and some are just o.k. If unsure search the forums - i know its painful but read all the noob stuff.
Here are some links - some are fairly old but the principle is the same - just search the forums for updated versions/software.

You gotta register but its free and it saved me from a potential brick a while ago.
I hope this helps - happy unbricking, and enjoy the journey of XDA

Hey guys
So, i decided to try and root my phone and i think i cleverly chose to use a really old method and subsequently my phone is now pretty much bricked. It used to be software V2.1
now, whenever i turn it on (I need to take out the battery and put it back in to restart it) It goes to the sony ericsson splash screen, then a "MTT Docomo" screen and then the screen turns blank and stays like that. I got halfway through a guide i found somewhere on the internet and now this is happening D=
I can't repair it in the sony ericsson pc suite (it detects a phone but asks me to connect it etc. which i can't do).
I've read a bit around and i think the answer is using flashtools? Can i still do that when my phone's in this state? Sorry if this is a common question, couldn't find any similar cases though =S I'm not completely sure what to do... any suggestions?
Thanks!
yes, you're right, my opinion is you must have to flash your phone properly with a clean stock rom before retry to flashing your phone another time.
And to make it properly is to use flashtools method (see thit link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343, there is a perfect tuto made for that)
And you could also use the root function included in Flashtool if you still want to root your phone
You should still be able to repair w/SEUS ("pc suite") or use flashtool.
X10 is pretty unbrickable.
To get into flash mode in your phone's current state take out the battery, connect the usb, hold the back button, and then replace the battery.
Hope this helps.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies!
I went through the flashing guide above and managed to get my phone working again (you were right, i could still start it up in flash mode if i took out the battery etc. first), and rooting it was pretty easy =)
Thanks again guys, the forum's a great resource.

Hey,
I'm afraid I managed to somehow brick my X10 (although I know you all say that's impossible). But here's the problem:
My phone is on the cyanogenmod 6.1 (gingerbread), and was working perfectly fine for over a few months. But two weeks ago he suddenly went off, and I can't restart him. I think the phone freezes the moment the boot loader should load android. Because when I press the ON button, the LED flashes green, and the phone vibrates (as it would normally do), but then nothing! And the phone doesn't respond to anything else I do then. The only thing I can do is take out the battery, put it back in, and were back in the beginning stage
I tried to repair with SEUS and PC Companion. When it asks to plug in flash mode (plug in while holding the back button), I do so, and the PC recognizes the phone. But when it tries to repair, I get an error after a while. The progress bar shows no process at all, so I think the error is a time out error, because the phone is frozen.
I don't know what to do any more know, and I'm not really looking foreword to buying a knew phone already! So I hope you guys can help me!

Have you tried flashtool? Its worth a shot.

Tried, but I don't seem to find an entire rom to flash. Most roms I find are .zip or .7z, and those files don't contain an .ftf file.
Do know were I could find one?
Im on my phone now so I cant post a link, but search for "flashtool firmwares" in the devs section. It will take you back to stock 2.1 (Or 2.3 depending on the firmware you get)

Tried Flashtool, but no succes! It says "Error Flashing. Aborted". No luck with that! But thanks anyway!
There must be some other way I can repair my phone..
i have exactly the same problem with my x10i, it only vibrates continuously but won't boot,
i tried everything, flashing with generic firmwares 1.6, 2.1 and 2.3.3 and repair using PC companion and SEUS still nothing ( i make sure that i have 50% battery before flashing)
when flashing it enters flash mode without even pressing the back key, when hooked to charger green LED lit immediately as if (flash mode)
i taught it was the LCD but i tried to use another xperia x10i motherboard and the LCD works fine (i have 2 xperia x10i btw)
any help will be much appreciated.
use the search option on this forum!

I may have posted in the wrong section and before you say there are topics covering this ive tried everything and im at my wits end!
I had a custom 2.2 ROM loaded on my Xperia for months but due to battery life issues i decided to upgrade to 2.3 (Wolf's) without doing much research.. Had i learnt that i needed to upgrade xRecovery to the latest release i wouldnt be in this dilemma.
I did the usual stuff when loading a new ROM but when loading the 2.3.3 ROM it failed.
Now when the phone starts up i get nothing but the SE logo!
Ive tried reflashing.
Ive tried using SEUS/PCC to update my phone - Which to no avail will the program recognize my phone for longer than 10 seconds.
Ive also tried SeTool2 and cant get my head around that.
If anyone has a fast easy fix for an idiot like me please point me in the right direction!
Should also add that i cant access xRecovery.
I am not trying to highjack this post but i am in the same position my phone is stuck in a loop on the black screen with the se logo.Flash tool or the se update service "sees" it for about 10 seconds not long enough to do anything. Please can anybody help?
A quick update i have sorted it i left it on se update and some how it went in to repair mode and i now have a working x10 again. The se repair didnt seem to be doing anything it just said please wait but i switched it on and it worked now i have to root it again lol
I think you should flash stock ROM 2.1 via flashtool, root and flash Xcr. Afterwards, you can follow the WOLF's instructions to flast TW ROM. Remember flash baseband .71
So i tried those things and still havn't gotten anywhere!
I cant flash the only thing i can do with flashtool is change the baseband and thats not very helpful to me atm!
I just wish there was an easy fix but apparently there isnt

Read Wolf's thread!!!
You HAVE to change the baseband, otherwise it won't work! You need baseband .71, which is included in the flashtool package he says to use...

First of all sorry for not replying sooner as i have been very busy, i have to agree with hr7 i used the Sony Ericsson PC Companion and clicked on repair
Hi everybody,
First of all, if I am in any way repeating something written somewhere else, I am sorry but I am quite newbie here and, even if I searched around this forum, I couldn't find any info about my specific problem.
This said, to the problem!
I have an Xperia Neo (europe) with 2.3.3 Android and yesterday I was signaled of a OTA update available. I then switched on Wifi, connected the phone to the power cable and started the update. After downloading everything, the phone rebooted and showed me an updating screen.
After a while, though, the phone turned off and....well, it didn't turn on anymore!
No sign of life from the battery led either!
Now, after some stunned panicking seconds, I started googling and came at this thread:
http://www.techofweb.com/technology/recovering-bricked-xperia-flashtool.html
and downloaded the last version of Flashtool from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
and the latest stock firmware ( MT15i_4.0.2.A.0.42_GLOBAL.7z ) from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258723
....I tried to flash the firmware with FlashTool and the operation completed, but when I try to turn the phone on now I just see a quick green blinking of the power led and then nothing else.
I tried to take out the battery, and also tried to flash an older (2.3.3) firmware, but the problem didn't go away.
Now, the phone is in warranty, not rooted and everything....I could bring it to Sony, but it would take 15 to 30 days to them, so I just wandered if there was anything I was doing wrong and that, if corrected, could save me a lot of time and efforts.
Thank you guys a lot!
Bye!
you downgraded from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3 ?
If so then you get 0% battery issue... Search about it in this forum

Downgrading to 2.3.2 causes battery issue...back to 2.3.3 no one reported battery problems.

Try reading the previous post in this thread?
I'd be surprised if flashing firmware with Wotanserver won't fix it. Just go to wotanserver.com, follow the steps and flash.
Before u flash using flashtool or wotanserver, makesure u hold the back button while connect to usb until the green LED appear.
Hello everyone i had a serious problem with my friend Ray (ST18i) . My friend said that his phone is freezing and restarting when playing some games, and then BOOT STUCK (not boot looping) at the SONY logo when gonna enter the system (when the screen light up) forever.
I already tried to flash stock firmware many times with build 4.1.B.1.13, 4.1.B.0.587, and 4.0.2.A.0.42 but the result is the same, i even thought that this phone is updated via OTA with unlocked bootloader so i do flash Xperia 2011 Range_FreeXperia_ALL.FTF by FXP and Xperia_Relock_bootloader.FTF . And the result is still the same. I even tried to repair via Sony PC Companion and Reflashed it via Sony Update Centre, but the result is the same.
The thing is my friend is just some average Android user that don't know and don't need to root or even unlocking his phone bootloader, so he's never did that thing. so i can't go to recovery (cause there isn't any) but luckily the phone still can go to flashmode and fastboot, and even showing battery chare image when charged in Turned Off condition.
I really need help from you guys to fix this issue, cause the other problem is, there isn't any Sony Service Centre in my city, and this phone isn't even bought with official warranty. I had some exprience with samsung, and many Xperia (Now using hTC though) but this is the first time i'm facing this kind of problem.
Thank you.
Have you tried unlocking the bootloader and flashing the stock kernel with cwm? Then i would wipe everything incl system and format the sd card (make back up to pc) so you have a complete empty phone. Afterwards try installing stock firmware.

Yeah i would like to try that too, but, correct me if i'm wrong isn't to unlock bootloader you need the IMEI code from the phone? and as i know it, to get the IMEI code you need to enter *#*#7378423#*#* or such in your phone dial and see the IMEI code there. After reading your suggestion, i come up with an idea to unlock it via someone else Ray Unlock code from SONY, is it a good idea?
When i reflashed it with flashtool, there isn't any sdcard and simcard in the phone btw.
Or maybe there's some way to do a full wipe without entering a recovery?

Yes it was successfull like always with the final word, Flash complete and please unplug your phone. and device connected in flashmode.
I'm about to try unlocking the bootloader first (If i can't locate the IMEI, then the test point way will do) and then, flash a stock kernel with CWM and do a full wipe first.
I think it's still early to give up, because i think there's still so many way to fix this thing rather than just flashing a stock firmware.
I hope many awesome developer like Doomlord or bin4ry will at least take a look at this thread

no there is nothing much fr us to do.
and if u would like them to fix it please contact them personally
I personaly suggest you to unlock your bootloader using the test point method rather than the sony method. That way you still have your original drm-keys.

UPDATE on UBL
Hi Everyone, yesterday i tried to unlock with 2 ways, the first way is with the SONY Official method even though the phone doesn't boot, i can get the IMEI from the back of the phone, and from the BOX (which is basically the same IMEI) and got the code from SONY. but unfortunately every time i'm in the final step i got : Remote oem unlock failed. And i'm sure i'm updated and using the latest Android SDK. i even tried to do fastboot command from other laptop but the problem still there. (Tried to google it for the same questions like that but what i got is only people that had a mistake in inputting the code number) Note: I already cross checked it for many times, that now in my inbox i had 5 same codes from SONY :silly:
Next is the Test Point with s1 tools method. But like always in the final step, i got another error which is: test point qcreceivepacket can't get packet start i tried to google it again (which is always leading me to XDA cause here is always the source lol) many people answered that same questions which is because the Xperia you're trying to root got a new version 2012 and something like that.
Note: I'm pretty sure the Xperia Ray i'm unlocking is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, because when it's still alive i already checked it via *#*#7378423#*#* and 1 more thing is because i already tried to unlock an Xperia Mini Pro that is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: NO. Which is really can't be unlocked because the phone with that kind of status can't go to fastboot (always go to charging mode instead)
Maybe you can say i had a lot of experience with Android, but i'm just creating the forum account yesterday, so i'm still a NOOB here
which is why i appreciate all the help from you guys.
I'm gonna try Contacting the top Xperia developer (which is i still don't know how) ASAP
EDIT: Just read someone questions on Q/A General chat thread. That the reason i'm failed is because i haven't rooted my phone? Is it true to unlock you need to have a root access first? cause in my other Xperia (Active, Sola) i always root first before unlocking so i don't know if unlocking first will do.
