[Q] How to apply OTA after root - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I rooted my phone using the zedomax method on htcevohacks (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671577)
The SW Version is: 1.22.651.3 71ORD
I now have an HTC update showing up (171.81MB) that does not have a cancel button. I was wondering what I need to do to apply it?
The phone is S-ON with HBOOT-1.15.0000

You need a stock Rom and stock recovery, relock bootloader and then you can accept ota

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm very new to this and have a few more follow on questions.
Will relocking return me to stock rom and stock recovery? How do I do it, via the HTCdev unlock bootloader method?
Once I've done that, accepted the OTA, will I be able to root again using the same method?
Also if I do a back up using titanium before the relock I should be able to get the phone back to the same state after, correct?

You need to flash the stock Rom and recovery before you relock. Relocking the phone will not give you a stock phone. You can use the ruu, relock the bootloader before running ruu

New to HTC - need infos

Hi. I am new to HTC and I would like some informations about this phone. I own a HTC EVO 3D(HBOOT 1.49.0018) and here are some questions:
1) I have unlocked the bootloader with HTC method, installed a .img recovery from revolutionary (shooteru) then root. S-On. Is there any way of making the bootloader locked again? As far as I understood, it can be made RElocked, but this means my warranty is voided, right?
2) What is the difference between S-Off and S-On, if the bootloader is unlocked? Can I flash ROMs/Kernels from CWM, or there's some limitations?
3) What is a RUU image? I have downloaded RUU_Shooter_U_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.8_Radio_10.59.9020.00_10.15.9020.06_M_release_219793_signed.exe (this is what I have on the phone right now, those versions). If I connect the phone to USB and run that file, what will happen to my phone? It will be stock? No CWM and everything stock? I mean, if I flash a custom ROM, then I want stock, I flash that file?
4) Can I root/temporary root another HTC EVO 3D with HBOOT 1.49.0018 WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader?
I think more questions will come, as I have this phone for less than a week.

Technically yes, however most Sprint stores will work on it as long as you re-locked it and are on a stock rom.

Kernels have to be flashed separately:

An exe file that will completely return your phone to stock. Recovery, bootloader, hboot, everything...

No, because this will COMPLETELY unroot you, and you may not be able to root again. If you want a stock rom, just flash the rom zip file. RUU's are pretty much only used when you need to send your phone back to sprint, as its easier to run this to unroot and go back to stock than to separately unroot and separately flash the rom.

Root for latest update?

Every rom I flash keeps screwing up and camera never opens up. I'm wanting to do the newest update but I haven't seen much about a root method for it. Is there an easier way to do it? I'm S-ON hboot 1.15.
So you want the ota?

yes, I don't care about s-off or cm10 fastboot flashing or anything to do with new hboot problems..
It's best to flash the stock rom and recovery for 1.15 and relock bootloader, then accept the ota and if you want to flash roms again just unlock and flash twrp then you can go back to flashing roms again

Subscribed to this thread because I may be wanting to unroot, update, then re-root soon.
Flash a stick rom, the 1.22 base I believe. Put the phone in fastboot and flash the original recovery image with adb
Camera doesn't work, wifi won't turn on, battery isn't charging. I'm waiting patiently till the note II is available.

How do I get back to latest Rezound OTA ROM?

I need to get back to the latest stock update for the rezound. I'm on the infection ROM right now and just need to get back to the latest rezound ota. Are there any ota ROMs w root out? I dont want to have to re root again but I wanna be back on the latest ota w/ just root. Also, will I need to lock my phone again to do this?
One last thing, how can I update to the latest firmware/ hboot/kernel/radio etc. Pretty much want to return to the latest ota leak for the rezound even if its not official and then I'd like to update my hboot, radio, kernel, etc to the latest out.
Sorry for any typos I'm extremely busy at work trying to sneak this in. Thx for the help guys.

Follow the instructions in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37448962&postcount=2
That will get you updated to the latest and back to stock.
Then you can unlock again, flash a recovery and reroot and remain on stock ROM with a custom recovery and rooted.

What hboot/radio level are you at now?
For a good Sense 3.6 rom, I'd suggest Ineffabilis Deus v1.2, gives you that stock feel with tweaks available.
You can run the global RUU from here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/ You will need to re-lock if you are s-on.
You can run NilsP Business Sense 3.6 if you want a mostly stock ROM without bloat. I'd suggest restoring a nandroid from the OTA if you have it (I don't keep many nandroids, but that ICS OTA is the one I kept).
Here is the stock ICS OTA: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/ You will also have to be s-off or re-locked to flash this.
Sorry if I've repeated information posted by anybody previously. That was never my intent. I just hope this helps.

I'm just confused on what steps to take and in what order?

If you are s-off your phone should say "locked" and you can just run the RUU. Running that updates all the firmware, radios etc... and so you'll be on the latest stock and locked at that point. Run it twice and let it do its thing until it reboots so it gets all the system files.
Since you are s-off I don't think you will need to unlock again, check what the phone says in hboot as far as *tampered* *unlocked* *s-off* etc... you should confirm that with someone who is s-off.
(if you still have the unlock token you can use it again if you ever need to. Keep it handy so you'll always have it when you need it. I keep mine in the folder I use on my pc for fastboot.)
After you unlock you flash a custm recovery and root from within the recovery if you want to flash another ROM. Or use one of the tools, I've never used any of them.
I think you're good with this RUU for jb. It's the latest and I don't think anyone has anything later than that. I don't use a jb ROM so you may want to confirm that with someone who does.

You're s-off. Going s-off relocks the phone because s-off is better than unlocked. You can just flash the RUU.
I recommend against unlocking once you're s-off, because if you try to relock it yourself outside of the s-off process, it will say "relocked" instead of "locked. You can either flash a recovery through a PH98IMG.zip, or you can flash a hex edited hboot to allow extended fastboot commands.

OK so I just ruu and it will bring me back to stock. I then flash amonra 3.16 using the IMG.zip to get recovery on my phone.
(how do I flash the zip since recovery will not be on my phone yet? Do I just use the rezounds recovery to flash it?)
Then once amonra is installed I now root by installing su and superuser from the options in recovery.
Is that it, now I'm on the latest rezound stock w root? Am i still soff too, I don't need to do the wire trick to get soff again?
Oh and flashing that ruu will update me to the latest hboot and radio, correct?

If you just want to stay stock and rooted then just run the RUU, flash recovery and root. You should still be s-off and ready to flash a custom ROM if you end up choosing to.

As long as you have a flashable zip of AR 3.15 you're good. All you have to do is rename it PH98IMG.zip (make sure you don't name it .zip.zip) and flash in your bootloader. Here is a link for an already packaged recovery zip: http://www.teambamf.net/topic/3737-bootloader-update-recovery-files-amon-ra-315-and-cwm-touch/ No need to do the wire trick again. Yes, you will be on the newest hboot and radios.

Please let me know if you find out. I was wondering the same thing!
Let me try to help you guys.
What you guys need to do is to flash the original RUU for 1.27.531.11 from PC. Once you do that, you will be able to update OTA.
If you have unlocked bootloader and s-off, it will still carry over to the back to stock as well as OTA.
If you dont like it, just flash the older hboot and then recovery and another ROM.
I did it and works perfectly fine. Also no Root allow for Back to stock or OTA, you can do that later but not when trying to get update.
No custom recoveries, radio, boot, etc. Has to be stock ROM.
Ah, also please have sure the MID / CID is right before flashing to stock.

Not yet. Gonna play with stock for awhile. I kind of like odexed and dont have a burning need to root. As for the "junk" in stock roms, there really isnt much, and what there is you can disable so not a big deal.

OK so just to clarify. I am currently on 1.27.531.11 rooted with a Unlocked S-off bootloader and TWRP recovery. All I need to do is, leave the bootloader unlocked and run the 1.27.531.11 RUU file. Once that is completed I can take the OTA to 4.3. Once this is complete will I still be S-Off and unlocked or S-off Locked? Then if I want to root (asuming bootloader is still unlocked) I would just need to flash the TWRP recovery and then flash SU, and I should then be updated to 4.3 rooted with a unlocked S-OFF bootloader. Is all of that correct? If not, please correct me before I attempt this. Thanks for any help.

Need to relock bootloader!

So before I could get to s-off my phone or flash a custom ROM I figurrd the vibration on my brand new ONE does not work. I did get to unlock bootloader flash twrp and root, now I need to return to %100 stock to return my phone. I flashed back to stock recovery but I still have 'tampered' 'unlocked' bootloader. Can I relock and remove tampered without being s-off? Also if I take latest OTA will that relock my bootloader??
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Only way to remove it is doing the s-off, afterward I belive u can relock everything... I used rumrunner to change the s-off and then the revone method to clear the tampered flag on the bootloader.
- lookup remrunner
Then lookup HTC ONE Toolkit 2.0,by squabbi... The tool kit helps for someone lazy on the shell commads
