I have a HTC amaze 4G which i am running this rom XDA Developers > HTC Amaze 4G > Amaze 4G Android Development > [ROM]|4.0.4|9/21/12||RubyUIX_SGS3_TouchWiz_Themed|HellSpeedz||Natur eUI
Question is i find wifi calling to buggy and sometimes locks up my device. I want to know if there is a mod/option/hack to disable wifi calling?
Dont use it at all and prefer to not to use it. Calls always seem laggy even with a 20MB connection. Any help be appreciated

I know how to turn it off, that's not the problem. The issue is its not in that settings. I looked everywhere in the settings option and is no where to be found. I wouldn't asked if I found the option to disable it. If you had this rom you would see the issue. Once again it's absent from the settings completely

I had this issue when I first got my OG evo, I called in and they walked through altering some settings, took me some time arguing with them but it worked
I just started a Masters of Geology program and needed to make money cuts everywhere.... the cell phone was an easy choice since I have wifi almost everywhere I go.
In the interest of battery life, does anyone know if there is a way to turn the cellular modem/radio off and leave the bluetooth, gps, and wifi modem on?
Thanks
Battery monitor has a setting to only disable cell tower you won't be able to get call either but Bluetooth and wifi will still work

I don't have a setting for that, at least not under Mobile Network Settings.
I suppose I should mention that I am running Bionix Frost 2.2.1 with kernal 2.6.32.9; I don't know if that would make a difference.
Thanks for the replies.

I notice everytime I turn my Wifi on, the 4g Icon still shows. However my speeds run at wifi speeds. The 4g icon will occasionally disappear but comes back from time to time. I'm running the rooted stock rom.
Is there a reason for this?
Thanks in advance.
Ive noticed this sometimes also, i just check off mobile network if i have wifi on, just to be safe, and it goes away.

That was my question as well. I just got the phone coming from evo but haven't root it yet. So, I'm running stock without root and have the same thing. Could anyone chime in on that?

I run juicedefender so I don't have this issue, but they both show if in on WiFi and download an mms message, it only downloads through 4g so it cones in long enough to download the message and goes away.
I have same issue weird thing is my wife has same phone and hers never comes up when connected to WiFi. Only when a picture is coming through how ever mine won't go away at all its annoying
I'm stock no root

I am guessing you guys have tmo my account app installed. This is a crappy app and uses 4g (apparently to make a secure connection) even when WiFi is on. So whenever you see 4g and WiFi both, just goto running services in settings and stop my account app and 4g icon should go away.
Getting rid of this app and other bloat is one of the main reasons for me to root this phone.

I do have the tmo my account app installed and noticed the same thing. Now i know why it does it! Thanks for sharing the knowledge chem
While I was on a call the other day I decided to browse the internet during the call....FAIL
I wondered if there was something wrong with my phone so I tried it on another call after I restarted my phone and still not internet during call. I called T Mobile to ask them about this and they told me that the HTC One does not support that feature.
That just sound crazy to me because I was able to do it with my 2 year old myTouch 4g.
Has anybody else tried or experienced the same?
Does anybody know any information or a fix to this?
I searched around the threads for a while to see if anybody noticed this or made a thread about it but I didn't see anything. If there is other information regarding this please direct me.
Hmmm I can't say about web browsing but I can confirm you can send and receive text while in the phone. I'll try browsing next time I'm on a call.

Are you sure you had 4G and not on EDGE.

It's working for me.
Tried it just a few minutes ago...works fine for me
Is your device a tmobile HTC One? Were you on 4g when you tried to browse while on call? Do you even get 4g service? Browsing while in call requires for you to be in 4g.

Thanks everybody for your responses. I was able to get messages but it just wouldnt let me browse the internet. And yes I was on 4g but not lte...if that helps. Maybe I will just try again after another reboot and see what happens

Is your device a tmobile device? I seen some thing on the web where people with dev edition or people using att device with tmobile couldn't browse while in call. Is the reason I ask. If you have a dev edition on tmo network, that might be the problem.

UPDATE
Update:
I did a complete shutdown, not restart. Then I powered my phone back on after about 5 mins. I later tried to browse the internet while on the phone and...IT WORKED!!!
I dont know why but Im happy. So if anyone else is having this issue try that.
Sidebar:
I spoke to a Tmobile rep about the issue and he told me that the HTC One does not support on call interenet browsing.....
Cleary he was clueless...smh lol
It has worked fine for me while connected to bluetooth Ford Sync I was able to post comments on Facebook while on the phone in Honolulu on 4G, pretty sure anything other than 4G and wifi it won't work

I believe that what you experienced is just a general, minor Android bug. I've owned numerous devices, and everything from the mytouch 4G, to the Nexus 4, has given me a rare issue where sometimes when I'm making a call, I'll try to load the web, and see that I have no data. In order to regain my data, I'll have to end the call, wait a few moments for the data to fully restore itself, and then I can make the call again and use the web.

I think it is normal for data connection to not work properly right after your phone/IMEI/SIM is first activated with T-Mobile's system..... always takes a reboot.

Glad you got it to work. That rep you talked to was indeed clueless: browsing data while on a call isn't a "feature"; it's how the freaking network works. All GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ networks allow you to do this (in the US, this is tmo/att). CDMA networks work differently and don't allow EVDO use (3G) while on call. I think most verizon phones with LTE do allow you to use LTE and voice at the same time, though it might depend on the exact baseband setup. CDMA, blech.
