Hey guys,
I'm not a fan of the new jb stock keyboard from google as it's too slow to register responses when i type on it (keyboard style, not with my thumbs or pecking).
I tried just now to install the ICS stock keyboard (LatinImeGoogle.apk) but it kept FC'ing on me. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated
Here's what I did:
Had trouble downloading stock bleb from Asus onto my prime for .28
Downloaded Androwook 2.6 (i think, the ics version) and extracted LatinImeGoogle.apk from the ICS version of androwook.
Backed up LatinImeGoogle.apk (jb version) in /system/app
Moved LatinImeGoogle.apk (ICS, from androwook) to /system/app, chmod to 644 (rw r r)
Reboot
Select stock google keyboard as default keyboard in settings
Open anything that requires text entry and the bottom of the screen goes white (where the keyboard should be) and I get a sometimes transiently appearing other times normal FC box.
No FC when I restored the JB keyboard.
Thanks!

I'm fond of this free ICS keyboard installable from the play store. It has the best autocorrect I have used, a microphone visible on the keyboard for voice input, and numbers and smileys available with long press of keys.

does it do fast multitouch? that's the issue i have, it just doesn't process fast enough. so far, no 3rd party keyboard has been as fast as or faster than the google stock keyboard from ics

Can't help you there. I'm a two finger hunt and peck, typer.
My favorite thing about it is if you find it auto corrected something you didn't want corrected, hitting backspace changes it back to your original word unlike the stupid stock Asus keyboard.

Can somebody tell me if it is possible somehow to turn voice input from stock keyboard? I looked in settings but couldn't find it. Also, do you use other keyboards? I got used to use HTC IME by jonasl, but now on 1280x720 it is obviously to small for the screen. I am testing Smart Keyboard now which is pretty fimiliar to HTC IME and has the option of voice input. I don't like Swipe as I never swipe, got used to "click" symbols. I would continue using stock keyboard if not the lack of voice input.

I use smart keyboard Pro. Been using it since the X10 days, love it.
Im using "Ice cream sandwich keyboard free"
works well, and gives you the voice input button there too
I'm typing quite a bit quicker on this keyboard as well, seems to be working for me.
give it a go
I've always used thumb keyboard on any android device I use. Has good customization options and keyboard themes.
I use ICS keyboard full ..
It have a good arabic letters layout, and I use gestures to change language, close keyboard , and delete last word ..
I works great in this big screen and just take a little space of the screen ..
even I already purchased Swiftkey X, but I feel more comfortable with ICS keyboard ..

I have tried pretty much every keyboard on the market and I love Swype and SwiftKey but unfortunately both of those apps use their own version of the voice transcription feature. Is there a keyboard out there other than stock ICS that uses the voice typing just as Google intended? Or maybe a hacked version of Swype that bypasses their Dragon dictation for the stock one?
Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

Smart Keyboard is pretty good and for swype just download ripped latest version from galaxy note (blue color, no ugly orange, no swype connect and standard voice typing)
Thanks for the suggestions! Well I downloaded a note swype keyboard but it's huge and I can only see half the letters. Do you know where one is that's been resized?

The size can be reduced. Just own it with winrar and delete unused languages from assets, files. About the size I don't know it should work good since in the apk include all resolutions even the note one. Or maybe slideit, its the same as Swype but lot of prole finds it better and it support ics and its very skinable (normal Google dictation ofc) or try smart keyboard if you want classic tapping keyboard.
Swyped from my ZTE Blade
Any other keyboards as of late that anyone has found?

I downloaded and installed keyboard from this thread . Its from galaxy note 2.

That keyboard is with gesture typing ( sth like swype) . I cant make gesture working on my sony tablet s. Any ideas how to have it fully worked? Conventional input is good but sometimes keyboard closes/hiddens. I also tried to install stock keyboard from xperia arc s 4.0.3 but it fc.
No issues getting the swype gestures to work here on my Xperiat Tablet S. Works well, but not as visually appealing as the default keyboard.
Add gesture typing works after I changed keyboard language from auto/system to eg. English usa. Could you confirm that in your device ?
This keyboard has issues to fix. When I want to type word letter by letter keyboard closes/minimalises and to continue l must click on write area once or twice to having keyboard. After typing one or two letters keyboard dissapears . This repeats again and again.
Maybe jelly bean keyboard extracted from similar device should work better (xoom).
Any suggestions/improvements/attachments ?
I remember using the proper port and it worked fully until a few seconds and then it really played up, really nice though.

Hi,
Is there any way to add new words automatically to the 4.2.2 keyboard dictionary?
It's really annoying to agree three times and then the keyboard closes in some apps.
SwiftKey adds them as you write them down without Flow/Swype for one time.
However I didn't stay by SwiftKey because I love the stock keyboard too much.
Anyone got a modification? I would be ok with an "one-click-add" as well.
Regards

Most annoying thing ever
I know that this looks like it has been asked a dozen times, but I assure you that I have looked high and low and have installed literally 10 or so keyboards trying to compare features.
Here's what I am looking for (if it's possible):
Looking for a port of the keyboard that comes with AOKP 4.2.2 Milestone 1 or later. I know that there are tons of Jellybean keyboards out there and they even have gesture typing, but the one that comes with AOKP has the long press alternate keys exactly where I want them as well as the right selection.
I have tried the Google Keyboard from the Play Store and it doesn't have the long press alternates (aside for a select few that aren't labled).
Does anyone know how I can get this keyboard to work on my Note II? I have even gone so far as to extract it from an AOKP ROM and it loads fine, however the gesture typing does not work (just shows the gesture trail but doesn't type anything)
Is this at all possible? Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!

If AOKP is like the other AOSP Roms then the keyboard is the Google keyboard, unless they are using the older AOSP keyboard which is the same thing with a different name. AOKP may just use a different one but I doubt that.
Have you tweaked with the settings in the keyboard once installed to make sure the gesture trail is turned on?
You might get more help in the Themes section seeing how they deal with a lot of keyboards and mods for keyboards.

I tried everything. Gesture trail is turned on. The keyboard version is 4.2.2. Not really sure what else to do. Seems like maybe a lib file is missing or something.
